Your private guide and personal chauffeur will meet you at the exit of Katakolon cruise port: your guide will be holding a sign with your name on. You'll be on your way within 30 minutes of disembarking.
Admire the villages, vineyards, olive groves, and rugged coastline of the Peloponnese as you drive around 40 minutes to Olympia. Your driver will wait in the parking lot while you and your guide explore the archaeological site.
After purchasing your entrance tickets, stroll through the UNESCO-listed ruins. Your guide will show you the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Hera, his wife, as well as the Gymnasium, Hippodrome, and Stadium where so many ancient sports took place. Feel free follow in the footsteps of ancient athletes and run the 697-foot (212-meter) track.
From the archaeological site, it's a short distance to the famous Archaeological Museum of Olympia. After you buy your tickets, your guide will show you the highlights of the museum's finds, from the original decorations of the Temple of Zeus to a glorious marble statue of Hermes found at the Temple of Hera and carved by the ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles.
Your guide will tell you tales from ancient Greece, and can help you with shopping or recommend a cool spot for refreshments. After two and a half to three hours in Olympia, you'll return to Katakolon: your driver can drop you either at the cruise dock or the village if you have extra time before you embark.
