    Fun, Friendly, Feast for Foodies.
An excellent tour, food was delicious (we were so full at the end) and the venues gave us a real taste of the true Lisbon. Our guide Ruthy was a delight also, very informative, friendly and humorous. We would recommend this tour unreservedly. Thanks you so much.

This food tour is definitely a treasure. It was a great way to introduce ourselves to Lisboa. Our tour guide, Racquel, (I apologize if I have misspelled) met us on time in the prearranged location, which was easy to find. And then we were taken on a gastronomic adventure as we were led through the streets of the Alfama district for 3 1/2 hours. Our tour guide was very engaging, full of enthusiasm to share her knowledge of the city and its food and the people that make it possible. At each stop the group was led to a reserved table where we met the restaurant owners/chefs who presented several delicious food items, with pride accompanied by water (very appreciated on a warm day) and wine. We were treated as very special guests of each restaurant. The tables were set beautifully and the food items themselves were photo worthy! During the whole experience we were able to taste a wide variety of local food items and a dessert. We were stuffed! We wish we could do it all again. Our tour guide also thoughtfully advised all of the members of the tour on must try restaurants/shops and things to do close to where we were staying.

Fantastic selection of food, really friendly and knowledgable guide (Elouise) and a lovely way to see Alfama area. This is great value for money, and would highly recommend. Great to see you guys supporting the local community after what had been such a tough time. Money well spent.

More of a walking tour, less of a food tour, more like 3.5 rating
Perhaps we’re jaded from our pinxtos tour in San Sebastián, but this was a “fine” tour, not anywhere close to our San Sebastián tour. We were an hour and a half into the tour and had eaten two sweets and one coffee. Interesting guide and very nice people on the tour, but not for foodies. Ignored our email request about pork, and didn’t respond to other emails.

We had an amazing afternoon tasting portuguese local food mixed with stories and interesting related facts. All this thanks to our guide Francisco which with his special latin venezuelan actitude made a great tour. Obrigado Francisco.

This event was my favorite activity on my Portugal trip.
Ruthy's food tour was the most fun I had on my Portugal trip. Me and my 2 buddies both agreed it was fun, informational and a wonderful way to meet other travelers. Can't recommend it enough!

We came across this tour from a blog recommendation and we highly rate our experience! Matilde was an energetic, warm-hearted and caring guide who took the time to get to know the group, chat through her recommendations and share more about Portugal with us. As a group of people who had all just arrived in the country she was able to tailor her tour to best educate us about the wine and food we tried. We had a diverse range of tastings that supported us in future restaurant outings knowing what to order. Every business we entered had a family focus and was somewhere that locals visit as well. The entire evening was thoughtfully organised and I highly recommend this tour, especially as you enter Lisbon / Portugal.

It was absolutely fantastic and we can only recommend that everyone book this tour. Of course, a lot depends on the group participating, but what can I say, we were super lucky. We had the pleasure of meeting 8 travelers from different parts of America who were just as interested, fun, open and hungry as we were. :-) The group therefore consisted of 10 people.
The meeting point in Alfama is super easy to find - in general, you are given a lot of useful information after booking and the booking process was also totally uncomplicated and understandable. After a short round of introductions about where everyone comes from, we were given a lot of background information about Lisbon on the way to the first restaurant. Don't worry, you don't have to walk long distances and it's mostly downhill. The goal is clearly the total of 3 restaurants that you stop at. In each of these small family-run shops, a beautifully set table was waiting for our group. The goal of the tour is for you to try several small things in one location and not rush from one shop to the other. This suited us very well. This also greatly promotes exchange and getting to know each other within the group. We don't even want to talk about the food: you get a wonderful insight into Portuguese cuisine. From chorizo, octopus salad to bacalhau, everything was there. Super aromatic, great flavor and often very traditional. And there was also a great drink accompaniment - from vino verde to Sagres beer to red wine. We cleaned everything up and at the end of the 3.5 hour tour you were really full.
Finally, a huge compliment to Mathilde: we had an unforgettable afternoon with her. Not only did she lead us through the day with great charm and so much wit and knowledge, but she also made sure that we as a group felt super comfortable and well looked after. She always took our needs into account, answered questions and kept an eye on everyone. We could hardly believe that she was so new to the team. You really enchanted us with your Portuguese joie de vivre and gave us so many great insights into life in Lisbon with your perfect English. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

I had a great time on this food tour in charming Alfama. The meetup point was easy to find and the group was a good, small size with solo travelers, couples and small families. The tour was organized, well paced and I left completely full. I have no dietary restrictions and I'm open to trying any of the local fare, so I sampled everything available which to me equated to a great value. Some of the small batch, crafted food items are not sold to the public so I felt very special having access to them. Also, there was plenty of wine and beer for anyone who wants to partake. We went to local spots that I would not have found on my own. I love the history, stories and commentary that was provided while enjoying the food. Please be warned that these local spots do not have AC or strong AC that you may be used to. Even in early September it was a little warm inside the restaurants where you're sitting in close quarters to your fellow travelers. But if you don't let that bother you and you just enjoy the experience, you can get so much out of this tour. I would recommend this to anyone but especially solo travelers and those open to eating the local cuisine without restriction.

Worst food tour ever. The guide took us to 5 different cheap restaurants with no AC, where we were offered ridiculous small and poor quality tastings to be accompanied with room temperature tap water and one or two (maximum) glasses of wine. The whole deceiving experience ended up in a gift shop trap where we were 'honored' with a tiny chocolate made cup of ginjinha, apparently home made but coming from a commercial bottle kept in a small fridge on a corner of the souvenir shop.
Knowing Lisbon pretty well, it' was painful to our pockets and extremely disappointing to our expectations. We have done a food tour recently for half price and the guide was well experienced. He introduced us to restaurants with either character or some history behind . A total pleasure that made us choose a more expensive tour this time expecting to get even more and better.
We highly recommend NOT TO CHOOSE this food tour.

We were really looking forward to the Lisbon Small-Group Food Tour with 18 Tastings in the Alfama District, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. While the guide was very friendly and engaging, the food itself was quite underwhelming for the price they charge.

The sardine tasting was nothing more than a canned slice, the sausage offering was extremely ordinary, and the bifana sandwich was below average. For a tour that markets itself as a way to experience authentic local flavors, the food felt uninspired and lacked the quality we were hoping for.

Thankfully, we had a travel guide earlier in our trip who introduced us to truly authentic local cuisine—better quality and often at a fraction of the cost. In hindsight, those recommendations outshined anything on this tour by a long shot.

While the guide’s warmth and enthusiasm were appreciated, they couldn’t make up for the lackluster food experience. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this tour, especially given the many other excellent and more affordable food options available in Lisbon.

We thoroughly enjoyed this food tour with Francisco leading our tour. Although priced slightly higher than some food tours, it was definitely worth the cost. We especially liked that we had a large number and variety of local Portuguese tastings, but with a much smaller number of stops, typically being seated for multiple tastings per location. Francisco was knowledgeable and personable. Upon hearing our specific traveling plans, he provided recommendations for additional places to go or eat. The folks preparing and/or serving our tastings at the multiple stops were very engaging.

We arrived in Lisbon in the evening and scheduled this food tour as the first thing to do the following day. So glad we did! This served as a great orientation (and traps to avoid) for the rest of our trip in Lisbon. We tried a variety of food and they are of good quality.

We drank many Ginjinha since the tour but haven’t found one as good, so if you want to bring some home, I would recommend patronizing the shop featured on the tour.

I am a pescatarian and the only food I skipped was the flaming chorizo. But I got a very happy photo of the chef so it was fine by me.

Our guide gave us many useful recommendations, including what price to expect for canned sardines, the different philosophies on mixing seafood with cheese, and restaurant recommendations for the rest of our trip. We don’t typically take city tours but thoroughly enjoyed this one. I hope you will enjoy it too!

We have done a few food tours in different cities and this was the best. The dishes were carefully selected and high quality, the locations were charming as were all the restaurant owners and staff we met, and the amount of walking involved was just right. I wondered why the tour started at a high elevation point in the city when all the restaurants are almost at sea level, but the walk through Alfama was fascinating and the starting point was in a square with a view that I’m pleased we didn’t miss. Our guide was Fran, who is not only highly knowledgeable but has a major passion for giving tours. Our daughter is 17 and Fran ensured that non-alcoholic options were available for her at all times. All in all this was a really enjoyable few hours with great company, tasty food and drink, and a stroll through a lovely neighbourhood. We booked direct with the tour company which I assume is more beneficial for a small company. Highly recommended, if you want to sample some traditional dishes and enjoy food tours then don’t look further.

It is an over priced tour that can not be justified. You can eat good local food with a better experience and far cheap in any of the small local restaurants in Lisboa.

For Bifana -& chouriço checkout Cervejaria O Trevo
For sardines and bachalau - Lisboa Tu & Eu

You can get local cheese and local wine at any place

Pastel - de - nata can be found every where and it is much fun to eat it in a cafe / bakery instead of eating it in a gift shop like we did.

If you want to do a food tour, you want to use Treasures of Lisboa food tour! Our family loved every minute. The restaurants they take you to are fascinating mom-and-pop, hole in the wall, food spots that offer authentic and mouth-watering Portuguese cuisine. The food on our tour was hands down the best food we had during our stay in Lisbon. We loved that we would probably have never found these spots on our own. Our incredible guide Francisco kept us all laughing throughout the tour. He was friendly, kind, and knowledgeable about the history of both the food and the region. Francisco was so entertaining he kept the attention of both the adults and children in the group with his explanations. There were couples, singles, and families on the tour and everyone got along and had a great time.
