In this parcour, you will be guided through 3 Castles - Tomar, Ourem and Almourol- that were very important for the defense of Portugal during the XII and XII Century's the so called River Tagus Defensive Line.
The Tomar Castle was the headquarters of the Knight Templars, the most important religious order in the country back in those days. Originally designed as a monument symbolizing the Reconquest, the Convent of the Knights Templar of Tomar, transferred in 1344 to the Knights of the Order of Christ, came to symbolize just the opposite during the Manueline period – the opening up of Portugal to other civilizations.
The first stop is at Tomar, the 2nd is at Ourem's Castle and then 1 hour lunch break in the same town.
Almourol's Castle will be the last stop before arriving to Lisbon
