About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- MarkMc130 contributionsVery long, but saw some good sights.Nice tour. Sintra is awesome, and definitely worth a visit. Our guide Thiago was excellent. Very friendly and informative, and I appreciated that he gave us all a bottle of water. Be prepared for a good hike up to the palace in Sintra. My biggest disappointment, though, was the stop for lunch. It's in a small town that is not worth visiting, and it took too much time. I would've rather spent that time in Cascais, which is a beautiful resort town on the coast.Written 11 October 2024
- AlisonM12160 contributionsI guess you get what you pay forDriver/guide arrived 1 hour later than the time scheduled at booking. The excuse was that it was raining but the rain was predicted so he should have accounted for the extra traffic, that he says happens when raining, and left earlier ! Guide had to be regularly asked to speak up as he couldn’t be heard in the back of the van. He regularly asked how long people wanted to stay somewhere but ignored our answers. He claimed to be following the rain schedule yet turned a 10 minute bathroom break into a 45 minute lecture ( when it wasn’t raining) in a less important location only to arrive at an important monument during the most torrential downpour. Because of his late start and the 45 minute bathroom break we arrived in Evora after 1:30 just leaving enough time for lunch and no free time ( also stores were all closed for afternoon break ). We proceeded on with the rest of the sites and when leaving for Lisbon I asked What time we would arrive at our hotel and if he could possibly drop us off first, he shrugged and said 6 PM in Lisbon but then stopped unexpectedly at another spot for “ 5 minutes” which apparently means 20 minutes. . We had commitments later and felt the least he could do would be to try to estimate the late arrival time. I will give him credit for his knowledge of the sites and no credit for his attitude, that’s why the tour gets 1 star instead of 0 stars.Written 11 October 2024
- jayrB2793FS0 contributionsThank you to Noono and around Lisbon toursOne of the best tours I’ve been on. All due to our knowledgeable and helpful guide. An absolute pleasure. The views were fantastic and learning the history of the Sintra and the surrounding area made this the perfect introduction to Lisbon. I can’t imagine a visit without such an engaging guide. Thanks so much. Noono!Written 11 October 2024

- YasLondon0 contributionssintra visit and palace not to be missedOur tour guided driver was really great. collected us from our hotel and we were a very small group which was great. Told us lots of places of interest and historical context along the way.. we went through this beautiful mountain village of Sintra, our tour started through the gardens, i would call it a forest. It was great starting point very beautiful and leads up invitingly to the palace without feeling too steep otherwise. there were little lakes and lots of beautiful trees, shrubs and greenery all spread out across and up could spend some more hrs there. We didnt have to queue anywhere . Palace has lots of history to tell and was interesting. we met our guide aft the palace visit and drove us down to the centre of Sintra. we went to a little cafe he recommended and also to the pastry shop before we left. we had some time to wander and explore after which we drove and climbed another mountain to a point Cabo de Roca Cape reminded me of 'Lands End' , nice viewpoint. We drive down the the beachtown of Cascais, so pretty and had a wander around and got some super delicious gelato which our driver recommended. now i remember his name Noona! would recommend this excursion not to be missed. excellent service all round. thanks for a memorable trip - Yasmin & ZaynabWritten 6 October 2024
- Sheree V0 contributionsIncredible full day with Joao to Pena Palace, Sentra and Cascais !!Joao was fantastic! He picked us up at our accommodations and was a great driver while giving pointing out places of interest and the history and back story of the the locations we visited . His English and French language skills are solid. We took the coast on the way to the Pena Palace. After we parked we took a beautiful walk through Pena Park up to the actual castle. Did not see many guides taking you to the park surrounding the palace and this should not be missed! Of course we walked right passed the line to tour the palace . Afterwards we went down to Sintra for lunch . Then drove to the Cabo de Roca Cape to see the point before a stop at a quaint beach town Cascais which was lovely ! I highly recommend Joao and this tour !Written 2 October 2024
- emmakZ2338FR0 contributionsSintra and Cabo da Roco did not disappoint! We had booked this tour several weeks in advance. Unfortunately, the threat of wildfires in Portugal that week caused the Pena Palace to be closed. We were made aware of this situation, told of the alternate plan, and given the chance to cancel. We went ahead and did the tour and are so glad we did. We saw the National Palace of Sintra instead and got to have lunch on the coast rather than in Sintra. Our guide, Tiego, was FABULOUS - he really utilized our driving time to share so much history and other information. We were a bit disappointed about the Pena Palace closure, but Around Lisbon did their best to provide a great tour for our group. Loved the stops at Cabo da Roca and Cascais.Written 29 September 2024
- 665roryo0 contributionsFelipe… Full-Day Tour Best of Sintra and Cascais from LisbonWe did this excursion and had the best time exploring different areas of Portugal. Felipe was a great guide and a very safe driver. He took us to all the areas we wanted to see and even added a few making extra time for our requests. Highly recommended this trip and even more so if you can get Felipe!Written 27 September 2024

- jasonbR3298UA0 contributionsBeautiful sights, scenes, food and entertainment. Nuno was an awesome guide! This might be a little bit of a different review as some wildfires prevented us from seeing the Peña Palace. Let me assure that it was an excellent excursion even without one of the major highlights. Sintra was a beautiful village to wander through, many little shops to duck your head into and have a look around. We toured the Sintra Palace (in place of the Peña palace) and it was quite extraordinary in its own right. We continued our tour from Sintra along to the coast where we stopped at apple beach, near Colares where we had excellent food and a while to walk along the beach. The from there to Cascais was beautiful along mountainsides, over valleys and next to the coast. Cascais was also beautiful, we had some time to walk through and stop for a snack, would recommend returning to spend some time on the very unique beaches along its coastline. To top it all off, our tour guide, Nuno was top notch! Funny, engaging and full of knowledge he kept us engaged the whole drive from place to place and was as good as it gets for a tour around the Sintra and Cascais.Written 20 September 2024

- weissfamily1000 contributionsSintra made easy and fun!Oriana was EXCELLENT. She was extremely knowledgeable about everything - the palace, the gardens, the history, the towns...even areas unrelated to the tour. She made the visit super easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend!Written 17 September 2024
- T9873AKwilliama0 contributionsTime SqueezedThe palace is beautiful, including the gardens. The time spent at the other locations (lunch time in Sintra was 90 minutes - no time to shop; the time in Cascaise was 30 minutes; the time at Cabo de Roca was 15 minutes). Suggest lengthening the tour by 1-2 hours to fit everything in. Also "historical villages" is overstated: only saw the tourist shopping districts.... "gorgeous scenery" was too short to even walk around. On the plus side, happy to have been picked up at our VRBO. "Visit Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais on a small-group tour from Lisbon that explores the Pena National Palace UNESCO World Heritage Site, historic villages, and the gorgeous scenery of Portugal's coast. Group size is limited to eight people to ensure personal service from the guide, and the tour includes all entrance fees, as well as convenient pickup and drop-off at hotels in Lisbon."Written 14 September 2024

Beautiful place and comfortable transport, but the guide Nuno wasn't kind with us, just because english is not our mother tongue. He was just focus with the irish people because he has irish family. Even we pay 200 euros the guide insisted to take a kayak tour (30 euros) they explained to us that it was for beginners, we took it but when we did it. they say it was not for beginners we didnt have the level to do it, so it was 30 euros to thrash. I know they want to earn commissions with the kayak tour but they should explain that is not for beginners.

When people asked us where else were we going and I would say Berlenga Island the most common response is “Where is that?”. It’s still a little bit under the radar. But it was amazing to spend the day in a unique island and also get to have a beach day that was not too crowded. The climb was a bit steep but the caves visit was quite fun.
Nuo -our guide kept in engaging and also made an effort to get to know the people we were with. This was the hardest climb for us. The island itself is a UNESCO site so it limits the number of visitors to the Island. To get to the fort you either get it through a boat or climb from the docks. There are no safety rails to hold to as you climb. But our tour guide made sure we were all safe and ok. The experience itself was great and quite unique.
The tour organization itself was all a bit sketchy. The tour description says 8 AM and all of us were there by 8 AM with no one around. A number of us had to chat with the tour operator to re-confirm and we got the message that it was at 9:15 instead. I wish they emailed that to us in advance. I checked my email and all it said was the time will be re-confirmed in a separate email. The notice would have given us more time to sleep or grab breakfast.

My sisters and I came to Lisbon for our annual sisters trip and we’re looking for some beach and nature action even though we were staying in the city center. We were definitely not disappointed! One of the highlights of our 5-day trip. Gil was a great guide- both personable and knowledgeable. You really do get a full day out of it with some hiking to the top of the lighthouse and some free time to eat, tan, and swim in the cove. The small group also lets you make friends and we went out with some of them that very night.
Warning: if you are someone prone to being sea sick, you may want to consider the trip carefully (Gil and his crew were great and give you plenty of warning and help if it does happen). We were on the boat to the island on a relatively “calm” day, and it was for sure a bumpy ride- added to the thrill of the day, though :)

We had a great day visiting the Berlengas! The island was beautiful and fun to explore. When we got to the island the weather conditions weren’t great which caused the boat ride over to be a little rocky. Despite the weather, our tour guide was still able to make the experience informative and fun. When the weather cleared up we were able to enjoy the beautiful beach and go for a swim. Overall, I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Lisbon area!

Nuno our guide was lovely, we had a quick one our drive and then took a boat to the island, it was unbelievably beautiful there, and Nuno was incredibly helpful with translating and showing us around the island. We walked to the fortress and then took a boat tour of the surrounding caves, had a nice lunch, and then had about 2.5 hours to just relax on the beach/swim. Amazing day and tour!

Had a really nice day! The drive to péniche was comfortable (A/C in the car and pretty large seats), the ferry ride was pretty rocky tho (some people got seasick). We started the day with a guided hike to the fortress (there are many steps, so it’s a good idea to bring shoes), the views were really nice. We then came back to the starting point by boat (we were able to get into some small caves). We had some free time after, so my group decided to go eat at the restaurant, then go swim at the beach. It was a nice experience and I recommend it!

The island is absolutely beautiful and the trip made for a lovely day away from the city. Unfortunately my partner got terrible sea sickness on the boat over but all team checked on him all the time to make sure he was doing okay. We missed the tour with our group while he was recovering but Gil organised for us to join another group in the afternoon which was so great and meant we hadn’t missed anything. Great guides!

The ride over on the boat was tougher than I anticipated, but I did enjoy the experience once we arrived. Our guide was such a sweet man who really loved his home [Portugal] and it showed. You should be in pretty good shape to climb up and down the mountain. If you have a medical issue that would physical prevent you from climbing or navigating rocky paths, there may be some other tour that’s a better fit. The sights were perfect, our guide was knowledgeable and kind.
I really enjoyed it and I was very pleased with our day trip!

João was an amazing guide, the island and people were wonderful, absolutely recommend! Although the hike was a bit more challenging than expected (some steep stairs on the way down), they were very accommodating for people who may not have been able to do it. No matter how you need to get to the fortress, do it because the views were breathtaking! João was so knowledgeable about the history and wildlife of the island, it made for an excellent learning experience! It was also a small enough group that we all stuck together and had a really great time! The perfect mix of a structured tour and free time as well.

What an amazing trip to go to from Lisbon. We started our day off by driving to the port where we took a really fun ferry to the island. From the island, we toured around the island where we learned about its history, cultural significance, and geography. The water was beautiful and the temperature was perfect! From there we boarded a glass-bottom boat where we saw the sea life of the local area. Afterward we had some free time to snorkel. It was way too cold for me, so I opted to hike the whole island. Next time in Lisbon I'll definitely be doing this again!

Hello! I'm interested in booking this tour for my family. We have two young kids 3 & 6. Would they be able to participate? If we're not able to kayak, clear bottom boat available? If not, can we just soak up sun on the beach? Thank you!

is this tour available on the 4th , 5th , 6th , 7th , or 8th of September 2021 ?

I see that snorkeling equipment is included, but I don’t see much mention of the snorkeling opportunities. How much time is there for potentially snorkeling?
Written 23 July 2021
Plenty of time about 40 minutes to an hour. It all depends on how fast you can walk the island. I wouldn't rush that walk for many reasons most of all should you slip in certain areas expect to die. Beautiful island for snorkelling.

A lot of people brought snacks and sandwiches when we went. There is a cash only cafe/restaurant on the island but unfortunately my wife and I didn’t care for the food so it was good that we brought snacks in our backpacks.
