This is a great way to cover a lot of ground in 2 days. Sintra is great! I wish we had more time there to explore more of the city center and the other castles. Cascais was a nice beach town, but It was 105 degrees the day we were there so we went into a dark cool pub to find relief from the heat. Otherwise, it would have been nice to explore the cute town. Fatima, Nazare and Obidos were all nice. They are all touristic but what do you expect? It was nice to see all those areas. I wish we had more time in Obidos so we could have walked to city walls. 45min-1 hour wasn't long enough to really do anything. It was a great day though.

Here is a goood option you may wish to consider: a 2-day trip in small historical cities you don’t want to miss for a first time visit to Portugal. Cascaïs, a mixture of ocean and city near Lisbon. On top of visiting it by bus, you may want to visit again, time permitting, by taking the train or the bus from Lisbon and stop by Estoril and on to Sintra. See the castle and feel “royally” for a while! The castle in Sintra is a jewell.
Fátima is a well-known pelgrimage site you may enjoy as well. Lots of people, lots of visitors as well. Three huge churches, masses every hour in many languages....The road to get there is very scenic.
While traveling to Óbidos, get ready to see a marvel in itself while entering in this fortified medieval town. Make sure you walk theough it on top of the fortifications. They are safe but you have to be very careful as the fortifications are narrow and not all people will walk in the same direction as you! It’s a two way highway! If you have vertigo, don’t consider walking the town up there. It’s better to walk through the narrow streets where shops are all around! You will find fancy jewlery, clothes, souvenirs, glass objects, either from local artisans (artisãoes) or from elsewhere in the country.
You must try the famous local “ginja” (wild cherries) in a chocolate glass! And why not a second one! So delicious!
And to top off this very interesting historical journey, you will visit Nazaré. The point of view from up there filled with souvenir shops and the seven-skirt local ladies offering “Rooms for Rent” is breaktaking. You feel like stretching your legs? Find the pathwalk that will take you down the cliff to the ocean. The view from down there is worth the walk, which is fairly easy to complete. But what goes down goes up again, you will have to walk back up! Despair not: there is a funicular to go back up!! No matter how you visit the place, be ready for peddlers of all sorts! Just keep going your way! No need to be rude to them. Or you just: “Não. T’obrigado!” And have a good glass of “vinho verde” cold on me! Ate breve!
A small reminder: always beware of pick-pockets....and they are fast! Otherwise just enjoy! It can happen everywhere!

As this was our first time in Portugal, we booked the Lisbon super saver-2 day tour. Joao was an incredible guide. He spoke fluent English and gave us so much more information and history of the area. Joao was very patient, answering all our questions about the areas we were visiting. He never rushed us and was extremely helpful when I had an issue walking up a steep incline. He took us to an authentic Portuguese seafood restaurant in Nazare where we selected our own fish and had it grilled for us.
Obidos is not to be missed! It was a quaint walled city with numerous shops and sites.
Each of the destinations was absolutely worth visiting. I strongly recommend insidelisbon tours.

My wife, mom and I were so impressed with this tour!! We have been on dozens of tours all over the world and this 2 day excursion was one of our favorites. We had a total of 8 people on the first day to Sintra. By the time we were done, we were all like family. We ended up all going out to eat that evening when back in Lisbon and even caught a fado show together. Our guide João was FANTASTIC and the person soley responsible for creating the environment that allowed us strangers to all become so close so quickly!! He is extremely knowledgeable about his country and the different places we visited. He is clearly fun loving, kind and simply a great guy not to mention that his english is excellent. Sintra was amazing and the lunch we had that day was flipping incredible! João gave us the option of going off on our own to eat or a local recommendation where we could all eat a together at a prefix style restaurant. We all decided to eat togher and loved it!! So much fun!! The restaurant is called A Toca Do Júlio and i would HIGHLY recommend it. The next morning was our Fatima trip and when João called our names at the Hard Rock meeting area, there was a very audible YES from our group. Same people, same tour guide and the same experience. Even in a day long down pour, we had a blast. The history of these places is amazing. The architecture is incredible and the people of Lisbon are welcoming, warm and friendly. João is truly an asset to the Inside Lisbon tour company and we honestly now consider him a friend. Thank you very much João and GO SPORTING!!! Please don't hesitate!! You'll love this tour!

I have to add to my "five star score". Lisbon far exceeded my expectations. An incredible city with so much diversity, history and fun loving people. I am very grateful Shane, Terri and I scheduled 2 full day tours of surrounding neighborhoods. A huge "shout out" to Joao Ferrao who was our tour guide for both days. Inside Lisbon Tours is fortunate to have Joao who truly enjoys his work, has a great sense of humor, and an incredible knowledge base of the history of this beautiful country. By the end of the tour, Joao and our entire group became fast friends. Well worth the time!

Meeting up was easy, and we were off in an 8 person van. Our guide talked up a storm between sites, yet the pace in each stop was slow enough that we could take in each location. We found this to be a great option to see this collection of must-see sights.

Excellent experience with Inside Lisbon!! These folks were wonderful and I would do it again.

First, off they do small groups which is perfect because you don't get lost in a large group and you get personal care by your tour guide. They know the ins and outs of the locations, and queues.

My first and only tour was on Sunday, Oct. 27th with Veronica. She's usually not a field person as she works in the office but was extremely knowledgeable in the field. This particular tour was for Sintra and Cascais. We were able to ask her about the history and local day to day living for the folks in these areas.

I enjoyed the Sintra and Cascais tour so much that I booked another tour with this company for Fatima, Nazare and Obidos. André was wonderful and knowledgable as well. He even gave us a treat by making another stop along the way in Batalha and the cathedral was beautiful.
While in Nazaré he gave a recommendation for a restaurant that he enjoys eating at and the food was amazing. I would have that meal again, it was like a home cooked Portuguese meal (see pictures below).

I asked Veronica for a recommendation on a Fado restaurant, it was wonderful. We ended up at Esquina de Alfama and had a great experience. It's a small family restaurant and very friendly. The restaurant even had a few surprises in store for us when it came to the singing.

I must add that their english and understanding of questions was great! I've been on many tours in various countries and my experience was wonderful with this company.

Great time with Paulo and R... They were both so great in taking us through these areas. We go to to go the beautiful castle. We loved Nazarene where the big waves are and surf records were broken. My favorite was Obidos. We left timely, got to ask a lot of questions and sampled some fantastic food items. If you don't have a car and want to see a lot, this is the way to go. We had five days in Portugal and were not going to make it to Porto so this is a great option.
