Full-Day Furnas Valley Tour Including Lunch
USD 70.58
Overview
Explore the wonders of Sao Miguel’s Furnas Valley on this informative full-day tour with a small group, including lunch. Visit the island’s famed ceramic factories, snap memorable photos at Caloura, Vila Franca Do Campo and Furnas. See Furnas lake and the surrounding hot springs and indulge in a traditional Sao Miguel lunch of ‘cozido,’ a rich stew cooked by thermal vents underground. You won’t want to miss the tea factory and the Ribeira Grande City with its beautiful architecture. This is a small group tour to ensure a quality experience.
What to Expect
Depart from Ponta Delgada towards Furnas valley. On the way, stop at Lagoa village to visit a traditional pottery place, and stop at Vila Franca do Campo, the former capital of the island, with its fine historical center.

Our first stop at Furnas is on the lake margins, followed by an included lunch. Taste the cozido na caldeira, cooked by the steam of the volcano. The cozido na caldeira is a traditional Portuguese stew with all the ingredients that characterize this typical dish.

After lunch visit Pico do Ferro belvedere for a panorama of the valley. Return to Ponta Delgada by the island's North road, visiting the Tea Plantations, the only place in Europe where you can see a tea factory and tea plantation.

Excellent Tour

6 of us did this tour on 4/25/18; it was awesome. I've been to the Azores before and learn something new each time. Lisa took us along the coastline to some interesting sites; I was amazed at her knowledge of the island.
