About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Lisa B0 contributionsAbsolutely BeautifulThe gardens are so beautiful. Flowers are everywhere. We were amazed to learn that 26 gardeners maintain the grounds. The hours spent there were very relaxing. One of my favorite parts was looking at all the different displays and photo opportunities in the buildings.Written 7 June 2024
- VanessaT5830 contributionsGreat experienceOur guide was very thoughtful and helpful, great tour would definitely recommend getting away from the crowds on this small group tourWritten 6 June 2024
- barbarasA6096PO0 contributionsA wonderful tour of tulips and windmills, thanks to Leander's expertiseI chose the tulip field tour because of its emphasis on a small group and Leander's knowledge of the area. Before the tour, he warned me that the brutal spring had demolished most of the tulip fields, and he offered me a refund. He however proposed an alternative- a trip to one tulip field and then a trip to a windmill- in essence, two tours in one! Of course, I decided to go. It was everything I hoped for- congenial group and an extremely knowledgeable guide who knows the area- we learned about tulip culture and windmill culture, and feasted on apple pie. And yes, there were enough tulips to indulge in instagram ready pictures. We had the rain that Amsterdam is notorious for at that time of year but it just added to the fun. (bring rain hats!) I highly recommend this trip and am certain that his country tour would also be good. By the way, if you go for the tulips , don't limit yourself to Keukenhof, as gorgeous as it is- the patterns and colors of the tulip fields will bring joy to your heart.Written 31 May 2024
- laurenbF4706DB0 contributionsGreat tour with knowledgeable local guideWe loved this tour given by a local excellent guide who was very knowledgeable about tulip farming. The small group was great and allowed more personal interaction with the guide.Written 5 May 2024
- Captainmjh0 contributionsTulips Fields of Holland TourWhat a great tour! Leander took us to a tulip farm and provided great information on the growing bulbs. We had really good apple pie there as well. Then we went to see a wind-powered sawmill. The windmill was actively sawing a log during our visit and Leander again provided insight into how the windmill actually works as well had a small model to demonstrate the process. Though the weather was not always cooperative, we had a great time.Written 27 April 2024

- N4400BPkarens0 contributionsOverpricedTotally overpriced. Only little lines of tulips , others lines of tulips were dead, not much to see. The extra trip to the mills was ok but there are better trips to other mills for less price. Totally not worth the $175 paidWritten 26 April 2024
- 348emmaa0 contributionsGo!THE PERFECT way to see the tulips with a local guide who is knowledgeable of the local area taking you to fields that are not full of other people as well as a private viewing on one farm that also has great apple pie for everyone The small group of like minded people also makes the tour relaxingWritten 25 April 2024
- VanessaT5830 contributionsFantastic tour guideLovely tour well organised and Leander was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable, courteous and very kind and patient. I would recommend him for a tour and would definitely book with him againWritten 20 April 2024
- Y6956QGrebeccaj0 contributionsUnexpected tranquilityWhat an incredible experience! Seeing the flower fields up close and personal is breathtaking, and going on a tour with Leander away from the crowds really makes for a special experience. We really learned a lot about the process of tulip farming, the history of tulips in The Netherlands, and the cultural impact. Also if you ask very nicely he might take some very excellent photos of you with the flowers!! A wonderful morning trip!Written 14 April 2024
- kristine4444440 contributionsHighly Recommend!!Leander was a great tour guide. We visited several local tulip farms and had access to walk through the fields and take lots of beautiful pictures. He gave us lots of information about Amsterdam, tulip variations, and the fascinating intricacies of tulip farming. He also treated us to homemade Dutch Apple pie and coffee at one of the farms. I highly recommend this tour!Written 14 April 2024

This was a very relaxing and interesting tour. I saw parts of the Netherlands that I had never seen and it was outside of the busyness of the city. The windmills and the history of the canals were astounding and the quaint little areas with the homes, the boats and the flowers were beautiful. The cheese was wonderful, the shoe making ok, the pie was good and Leander was great!

This was a lovely tour and great way to see more of the Netherlands than just Amsterdam. It was nice to have the opportunity to ask Leander tons of questions and hear personal experience. He's very knowledgeable! The stops were all very nice. No tips really needed - bring comfortable shoes for brief walks. Plan to buy cheese at the factory! You can travel with the cheese to the US if it's unopened - I wish I bought more.

The countryside experience with Leander was legendary. The places, the ambience, and the wonderful guide. Leander was knowledgeable, passionate, and most importantly caring. He took us on a journey that packaged the Golden Era of the Netherlands into a Golden Day for us. Highly recommended!

Wonderful tour! Leander was exactly what you want in a tour guide: knowledgeable, friendly, relaxed. Loved visiting the former fishing village and the windmills, even in the rain; the wooden shoes and cheese shop felt a little touristy, but the cheese sure was yummy! Very glad we did this.

Leander’s experience is not to be missed! An extremely knowledgeable guide for all things Dutch. We got to experience the windmills in the countryside, tour the historic town of Marken, and learn about Dutch cheeses and clogs. You’re not going to find this tour anywhere else. I highly recommend this if you’ll be in Amsterdam!

My husband had been skeptical when I told him I booked a tour to take us to see windmills but Leander totally won him over. We had a great day, we learned a lot and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!! I am already starting to plan my next trip to Amsterdam in April so that I can take Leander’s tulip fields tour.

As a family (parents and two adult sons) we had decided that we wanted to discover more about the history of the area.
It was our lucky day when we discovered this tour.
Leander was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. The back roads that he took would not have been accessible by public transport; but gave a insight into how the properties and land have developed over the years. The short walking tour of the back paths of Marken again showed how people had lived and how they are living whilst respecting their history, this stop had the benefit of exceedingly good apple pie and coffee by the harbour. The cheese experience was enjoyable and then a short drive to Zaanse. Again using his local knowledge Leander used the short walk to show off the beauty of the area and explain the four hundred year history of Zaanse and its contribution to the world.
Leander’s knowledge and pride in his country is evident. We came away with an insight of how this area has developed over the centuries but also what it is to be young and living in the Netherlands today.
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam and I cannot recommend it enough.
