- 259ravs0 contributionsServices to mislead customers knowing the weather impacts their servicesThis is a business that is false advertising online and over the counter. They are purposely selling services to mislead customers knowing the weather impacts their services with a rehearsed statement when customers complain. We arrived at the counter of Grindelwald-First - Top of Adventure to purchase two tickets for the Adventure pack (unlimited gondola rides + 2 activities). Only to be told told their website is not up to date and this can no longer be purchased anymore. Furthmore, the activities are now sold separately at each of the stops and only 'they' (assuming the providers) know their availability when you get there. To add more insult, the Mountain Carts and Trottibikes are now sold as 'summer' activities and no longer available in the winter. However, on their website it clearly states this as being winter and summer activies with date periods provided. I then mentioned we would only be seeing the First Cliff Walk presented by Tissot for the view, due to the lack of activities available to be told "that's fine and you will need a return ticket" We purchased two adults tickets £114 for the gondola ride. We were told First Cliff Walk presented by Tissot was 'free' to see. We got on to the gondola for it to be surrounded by clouds and frost on the exterior of the glass, unable to see any of the panoramic views. We then arrived at the final stop (First) to see the First Cliff Walk presented by Tissot for its views. We were incredibly disappointed as the view was hidden in a white cloud/mist, where we were unable to see anything at an arms length. We then returned back to the counter, mentioned we were unhappy and provided pictures and videos as evidence. We mentioned we would like to return tomorrow (exchange) or if it's possible to be provided with a refund. We were given a rehearsed statement by two seperate individuals both saying "it's non-refundable, as we provide tickets to only the gondolas and we fulfilled those services". However, I explained that I purchased the tickets to see the view and mentioned this to the sales advisor as the counter before purchasing tickets for the First Walk. I also stated that these tickets should not have been sold to customers as its unfair, knowing you are aware the weather/cloud impacts the view. I was told "it is not our obligation to tell customers, and to view cameras online before purchasing" or looking at their tiny LCD in the counter office in the corner. They were incredibly unhelpful and I was told there is nothing they could do. This is a business that is false advertising online and over the counter. They are purposely selling services to mislead customers knowing the weather impacts their services with a rehearsed statement when customers complain. The Swiss Commission for Fairness needs to take a stand to support tourism and prevent companies like this from misleading tourists.Written 11 January 2025

- Trek395068011240 contributionsOverall great. Plan to be on a bus for 4-5 hours.Overall great experience. I would have loved a better description of what to expect. I would have packed differently. I was thinking it would be mostly a train ride with stops. A lot of time was spent on a bus and I was not expecting that. Also, the stops for lunch was short. Would have loved 30 minutes more in Interlaken. Had too much time at the final destination (Top of Europe). Guides were great.Written 4 January 2025

My son and I had a free day to spend in Zürich and we chose this tour as it allowed our time frame to work and the costs were reasonable.
This is a 4-hour motor coach mini-tour of the Zürich area and neighborhoods, which includes a ferry ride and a cable car ride. Our guide was intelligent and fluent in several languages. She was delightful.
Be realistic in your expectations. This is a bus tour through city traffic and neighborhoods with a couple of short breaks. The ferry ride was a car ferry and lasted a few minutes. This was not a sight-seeing boat excursion. The cable ride was 5 minutes up to a small restaurant and 5 minutes back to the bus. There was time for a snack or a coffee...not much more.
Be careful with timing this event. Do not rely that the tour will be done on time. Our tour was supposed to be done by 1715, but was done 40 minutes late. We missed our train. So do not box yourself into a close connection, as it may not work out.
The tour was fine for what it was, and would be great for those on a limited schedule.

Dear Victor,
Thank you very much for joining our extended city tour of Zurich and its surroundings and for sharing your experience with us!
We are truly sorry to hear that you missed your train connection because your bus returned to the meeting point with a delay. Apart from entertaining our guests with historical information and personal anecdotes, it is one of the main responsibilities of our tour guides to ensure that the tour returns on time. While we know the city and its traffic conditions very well, we cannot always prevent delays caused by traffic accidents or other unforeseeable events.
We trust that your ticket was still valid for a later train and kindly ask you to reach out to us via email at info@switzerland-tours.ch in case you need any supporting documents to help you claim the expenses incurred from your travel insurance.
We hope that you enjoyed your one-day stay in Zurich despite the inconvenience caused and that you enjoyed the rest of your holidays!
Best regards,

I have been traveling Austria and Switzerland by train so I wanted to be able to see Zurich without having to taxi my way around. This tour was really an excellent way to get a quick recap of the city. We were fortunate to have a beautiful day. Rui the driver was really skilled getting around the city and Marcel the guide was really well articulated in several languages and had excellent dit bits about the city. He suggested a pedestrian only area of the old town after the tour for dinner and drinks. I went there and it was a great suggestion. However, getting back to the tour, I loved the ferry ride. That was probably my favorite part. The tram wasn't the best part of the tour for me but that is because I'm an avid skier and tram some of the most beautiful mountain ski resorts. I also really appreciated the start and end location of this tour. It is only 2 blocks from Zurich's main train station. I was only in Zurich for one day and this was a great way to get in as much as I could in a short amount of time.

Enjoyed the views from the the top of the cable car and the boat across. Bus and walking tour were fine. Marcel was a nice man and left helpful tips of what to do and where to go after the tour. Doing a deal with the restaurant at the top of the hill could improve the tour as the food and drink was very pricey. Timing of toilet stop was very early in the tour so maybe do this halfway through.

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback about our extended city tour – we are happy to hear that overall you enjoyed the tour and were satisfied with our tour guide.
The location of the Felsenegg restaurant is not as remote as in the mountains, but the logistics of running this restaurant at a vantage point above Lake Zurich are more complex and require more resources compared to a restaurant in the city. On top, Switzerland is known for its high standard of living and the high costs associated with it, which also reflects in restaurant prices. While we do not have an agreement for special rates for our guests, the staff makes sure, our guests receive preferred attention and service to make sure, they can have a snack or a coffee during the stay and still have enough time to enjoy the breathtaking views.
In addition to the public toilets available during the stop at the lakeside and just before the old town stroll, we will encourage our guides to consider an additional toilet break before boarding the ferry about half-way through the tour, in case needed.
We hope that you and your family enjoyed a wonderful stay in Zürich and look forward to welcoming you again on your next trip to Switzerland.
Best wishes

So disappointed and embarrassed I talked friends in to going with me. We thought it would be us walking around and actually seeing stuff, English only, ferry ride similar to places in Germany(Heidelberg has a great one) and a cable ride. This tour is actually dual language. The guide always spoke longer and in more depth in German. By the time he changed to English, it would be, “and back by where we just passed”. The commentary was monotone reading of about the universities and their programs. I’m pretty sure Zurich probably had something more to be mentioned. The ferry ride is misleading. You ride in the van, on a ferry across and hop quickly back in the car. With our tour of over five hours, we spent 45 minutes out of the van. The only place we had more than 10 minutes to look around was after the small, packed cable car to an overpriced restaurant. Even there it was too short of a time to enjoy a meal. If I’m going to pay a lot for a meal(anywhere In Zurich it will be), I am going to have the time needed to not to be rushed. Do not recommend if you are not fluent in German or dislike just sitting in a van and not getting to actually enjoy sight seeing.

Dear TravelingtheworldKY,
Thank you very much for having taken the time to participate in our extended Zürich city tour and for sharing your experience with us.
We are truly sorry to hear that the tour did not live up to your expectations. We can well understand that over time it can be tiring to be exposed to information shared in several languages. However, conducting the tour multilingually is highly appreciated by many our non-English speaking guests. Our tour guides are instructed to share all information in both languages equally and we are sorry to hear that this did not seem to be the case on your tour. While we would have greatly appreciated it if you had addressed your concerns directly on tour, we will certainly follow up your valuable feedback with our tour guides to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The aim of the tour is to give our guests a good overview of Zürich and its surroundings in just over four hours. As stated in our tour description, the tour is operated by coach, which allows our guests to see as much as possible in just a short amount of time. After a guided walk through the Old Town of Zürich in which you unfortunately did not participate, the tour continues to Meilen, where you board the ferry across Lake Zürich. It is possible to get off the bus to take pictures, but it is not a sightseeing cruise and is not marketed as such. While the Felsenegg cable car is not to be compared with cable cars in the mountains, it is Zürich’s only cable car offering stunning views of the lake, the town and the snow-capped Alps. Therefore, we believe that it is a nice add-on and contributes to the overall value of the tour although it can be a bit tight with larger groups. The stay at the Felsenegg vantage point is in the middle of the afternoon and therefore not scheduled as a lunch break. Instead, there is enough time for a coffee break or some traditional Swiss sweets or to simply enjoy the breathtaking vistas. With the consent of all guests, our tour guided even extended the total stay on top so that your children had more time to enjoy the playground. All in all, there were more than two hours spent outside the bus rather than the 45 minutes mentioned.
We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Switzerland and look forward to welcoming you back on our tours on your next trip to Zürich!
Best regards,

The worst tour we've ever experienced. The guide seemed drowsy and uninterested and provided very little in the way of interesting historical information. The old town stop was very short and the majority of the day was spent on the tour bus heading in and out of Zurich. The Felsenegg gondola ride took us to the top of a hill that we learned nothing about and we had only about half an hour to explore the nature trails up there, it was barely enough time to get food at the restaurant, so we didn't bother. The "ferry ride" was a commuter boat that was probably about 15 minutes total and was not scenic, just a quick jaunt across Lake Zurich with nothing to see. The next morning we went on the free 90 minute walking tour of Zurich through Free Walks and we absolutely loved it. Don't waste your money here, we wouldn't even recommend it to someone with mobility issues.

Dear bryngm,
Thank you very much for joining our Best of Zurich Tour with Felsenegg Cable Car and sharing your experience with us. We highly appreciate your feedback as it helps us to constantly improve our services and to ensure our tours meet the high-quality standards we strive for.
We truly regret to hear that you felt our tour was not worth your money and that the guidance of your tour guide did not live up to your expectations. Your tour guide, who has been with us for a long time, is very experienced and with wealth of knowledge about Zurich. He also has many personal anecdotes to share and this is highly appreciated by our guests. We are surprised to hear that the information provided fell short this time since he has always received very positive feedback especially because of his commentary. Also, our guides are always approachable in case of any occurring questions and are also happy to provide extra information. Nevertheless, we will forward him your feedback to help him improve his services.
While we fully understand that you would like to spend more time in the old town, it is unfortunately not possible to extend the journey as most of our guests highly appreciate having the evening off to continue exploring the city. Furthermore, we recommend our guests to eat before the tour since the timing doesn’t allow a longer break to have lunch, but to grab a snak or a drink at Felsenegg with beautiful views over the city and the lake of Zurich.
As it is clearly stated in the tour description in Viator, this tour includes a ferry, not a boat cruise. It can be seen that the ferry duration is maximum 15 minutes. We regret that this information went unnoticed, and thus, you expected a longer ride. For those guests interested in taking a boat cruise tour we recommend joining our Zurich with Lake tour or booking it individually.
We are very sorry to hear that your trip did not live up to your expectations and hope that you were still able to enjoy a great stay in Switzerland.
Best regards,

They did not do the walking tour of old town Instead they dove circles around a neighborhood. No notice of the change until after the bus had pulled off. The ferry ride is just the bus getting on a 10 minute ferry across the lake. There was just enough time to get off and take a picture. Then getting on a hot over crowded cable car. The only positive was the view from up top. But save the money and just use public transportation to go up the Felsenegg cable car on you own.

Dear I2802STlucasp
Thank you very much for participating in our extended Zurich city tour during the weekend of the Zurich Triathlon. We regret to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations and that the experience was compromised by a necessary amendment of the routing.
Whenever possible, our guides and drivers are instructed to follow the advertised routing. In the rare case of major construction work or public events such as the Zurich Triathlon, we reserve the right to change the routing without prior notice, which is mentioned on our website in the section “good to know”. We do our best to minimize the impact by providing an attractive alternative routing with additional insights into the areas along the amended route, be it university district or the residential area of Zürichberg with attractions such as Zurich Zoo, The Dolder Grand Hotel, or scenic viewpoints.
While many guests appreciate the short ferry ride across the lake, the visit of the Felsenegg area is certainly the highlight of our tour. It is a very popular recreational area for tourists and locals alike and with such a major event happening in the city centre, we can imagine that even more people escaped into nature than on a regular weekend. To keep the waiting time as short as possible for all visitors, the cable cars are filled to capacity (max. 20 guests). After a 5-minute ride, the upper station is reached and our guests are rewarded with stunning views of the city, the lake and on clear days even the Swiss Alps.
In case you plan another visit to Zurich, we would be happy to invite you to our classic city tour “The Best of Zurich” to experience the walking tour and deepen the information you have heard about the Old Town.
We hope that you still enjoyed a wonderful stay in Switzerland.
Kind regards

This is a good, not too expensive overview of the city for new arrivals. The ferry ride is nice. You can get out of the bus and go on top of the ferry for a great view of the lake and surrounding towns and Zurich. The cable car ride is OK. They pack you in like sardines but it does get you up to a small restaurant with great views and an area with nice walking paths. Since we were up there for over 30 minutes, we were able to use the bathroom and still have time to hike a bit and take in the views.

It was a half day trip. The guide was very knowledgeable about Zurich and it’s history abs we learnt a lot of information from him. The cable car to the top of the hill gave a very good of Zurich and the lake but the ride up and down could have been better planned with the tour participants packed in the car quite literally like sardines. Also there should have at least been some provision for water for the your participants instead of charging for it. That was in poor taste because I am sure the company makes a decent amount of money from each seat and could afford to provide water.

Dear Omar,
Thank you very much for joining our Zurich & Surroundings city tour and for taking the time to share your experience!
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the commentary provided by your tour guide Fernando and will gladly pass your feedback on to him.
The Felsenegg is a very popular recreational area for visitors and locals alike and can get very busy on a sunny Sunday like your travel date. To avoid lengthy queues, the cable car cabins are filled to their maximum capacity of 20 guests.
All our guests are free to bring their own water bottles along, which can be refilled with drinking water at any fountain in the city free of charge. Alternatively, guests can purchase water from our drivers for CHF 2.-, which is still a lot cheaper than at most shops (CHF 4.50) and therefore not a service we enrich ourselves with.
We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful stay in Zurich and look forward to welcoming you again during your next visit!

Switzerland is an incredible country and for 10 days we had incredible experiences... I dream of returning to the country every day... BUT, this tour is a tourist prank. To this day, I still can't believe I wasted an entire afternoon doing this trip. The lake cruise is actually crossing the lake on the bus on the ferry. The cable car is horrible, very crowded and there is no advantage getting to the Felsenegg viewpoint. And for that walking tour, I recommend that you do it with a guide just for that or walk alone, as Zurich is beautiful and safe. Get lost in the streets of Zurich and you will have enjoyed more than this tour. It cost R$850 for 2 adults and 1 child (4 hours).

Ambika da Best of Switzerland Tours

Don't be late! Construction in the area delayed my arrival by about 5 minutes and the tour almost left without me despite my attempts to reach the tour company and alert them. The same construction caused us a 30 minute delay returning at the end of the tour... Not a ton of information was shared on the tour either. I learned much more on another walking tour I did of Old Town that was half the cost. I also learned Zurich is better explored on foot - a lot of time was wasted sitting in a bus on this tour.

Hello Kate,
Thank you very much for joining our extended city tour of Zurich and for sharing your experience with us.
We are sorry to hear that your arrival was delayed by a construction site. All guests can contribute to the success of our tours by arriving at the meeting point on time. While we can hold the bus for 5 minutes after the scheduled departure time, guests arriving later will have to make their own arrangements to catch up with the group.
The aim of the tour is to give our guests a first overview of the city in just over 4 hours. As the Old Town is not accessible for motorized vehicles, we include a guided walking tour of 30 minutes. While we totally agree that not all points of interest can be covered, most tour guides include recommendations or sights and attractions for our guests to visit independently after the end of the tour.
We very much regret to hear that the tour was not worth its price and hope to convince you of our excellent price-performance ratio during your next visit!
Best regards,
Amanda from Best of Switzerland Tours

Hi what time does this tour start and where is the starting point? How is the weather in Zurich in June, will we need to have summer jackets handy? What is the min number of passengers required for this tour to go ahead?

Our tour started across from main train station. Several tour buses were there for different tours. The starting point and time is in the detail section. We checked in with our mobile tickets, given a sticker and directed to board the bus. We had about twenty people on board bedside us. We were there in April and did not need jackets.

If we book the available tour on September 18th at 13:00, won't it be dark the whole time?

Are the ferry and cable ride fares included? Or do we pay for them when we use them?
Thanks.
