About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 752khalidr0 contributionsgrindle worldGrindelwald village is 1,034 m (3,392 ft) above sea level. Mentioned for the first time in 1146, it has become an important tourist destination of both Switzerland and the Alps since the golden age of alpinism in the 19th century. It is overlooked by a section of the Bernese Alps from the Wetterhorn to the Eiger, which creates a natural barrier. Together with the adjacent valley of Lauterbrunnen, the valley of Grindelwald forms part of the Jungfrau Region of the Bernese Oberland, between Interlaken and the main crest of the Bernese Alps. Similarly to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald is connected to Interlaken by the Bernese Oberland Railway and is the start of the Wengernalp Railway, leading to Kleine Scheidegg. The latter resort is the start of the Jungfrau Railway, the highest railway in Europe and a gateway to the Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area.Written 11 December 2024

- bbmaxwell0 contributionsA truly amazing day tour with Hans and CarstenThis tour was the most educational and definitely one of the best I've been on with a trip advisor booking. The group was small so we were able to meet and talk with the other people in the group. The tour bus was very comfortable, and the driver, Carsten, was such a smooth driver that I did not have to take my motion sickness pill. As for our guide, Hans, he was an expert of the areas we visited, sharing all the history and details with the group. Hans used the speaker system while narrating, so it was very clear and audible throughout the tour. The information that Hans provided to inform us of the history and background of the places we visited was a basic expectation of a great tour, and Hans met every aspect of my expectations. Hans was definitely an experienced professional at guiding tourists like us. Many thanks and appreciation for a job well done. I would definitely book another tour with Grayline Zurich.Written 2 December 2024

- geraldj4620 contributionsCancelledMy tour was booked months in advance, was canceled the evening before departure. It was not the cancellation, but the lateness of the cancellation. This was my last tour booked, and the other tours they offered, I had done. I asked for a refund, and it was given promptly. All tours cancelled by operator, should be at least 24hrs in advance, the same amount of time I am required to give the operator.Written 17 November 2024
- geraldj4620 contributionsListen to the instructionsFantastic tour. It takes a lot of tour organizational skills to keep everyone on a tight time schedule. There are trains to board that can’t be missed. Our tour guide “Kid” was amazing. Kid kept us moving, on schedule, and still made sure each of us had the best pictures. Dress in layers, listen for the instructions given, and hydrate plenty due to the altitude. Bring gloves, sun glasses, chapstick, water, and shoes for ice and snow. Last, get a good nights rest, and show up early to the checkin booth. There is a free restroom next door to the checkin booth, and plz use before you board the bus. The bus leaves right on time, as there are trains to catch. This is a must adventure, recommend.Written 15 November 2024
- Q8692HNericas0 contributionsTop Of EuropeThis was hands down the most amazing trip I’ve ever been on. Our tour guide Kid, Grey Line tours, was the best!! He is so fun and made sure we had the best time. He also helped us make the most out of our experience by taking all the pictures and videos of us individually and with whoever you were with!! The man needs a raise!! The weather was perfect and our group was great. If you’re on the bus and you’re making the stop in interlaken or Grindelwald, and not going to the top of Europe, you will regret it! Upgrade your trip, go to the very top and soak In all the views! It’s even beautiful on the way down!! Thank you Kid for an amazing day! You’re the best! (We visited on Nov 10 2024..) Travis & Erica!Written 10 November 2024
- Mldthompson0 contributionsWaste of MoneyNot long after the tour started the guide went round everyone trying to upgrade our tickets to go on the 'Top of Europe' trip. Cash only was the option and card was not accepted. We had to decline due to this as the additional amount was around 200 Swiss francs which we hadn't carried with us. When we arrived in Grindelwald we were dropped slightly away from the centre (5-10 min walk) and had to ask the driver how to get into the town as the guide had gone with the group that paid extra and the driver was just going to drive off. When we got into town we found just about everything was closed as it was a local holiday. The guide had told us about Grindelwald First and that was also closed. So much for being a good guide. With it being a holiday the trip shouldn't have even gone ahead. We ended up getting a train back one stop to the Eiger and spent our time there as did others on the trip who had found themselves in the same position as us. We worked out we could have saved nearly 50% of the trip cost doing it ourselves.Written 9 November 2024
- hanesmd0 contributionsGreat staffVery competent driver. And informative host. Both did very well. The views were very picturesque. Definitely a trip worth taking. I wish it left earlier morning (9 am) to take in more views on the return drive.Written 5 November 2024
- kjf_x0 contributionsJust amazing. No other word for the trip, it was just amazing. From start to finish the trip was fab, there were so many different views and sights to see. The trip was via bus, train and cable car and it was so nice seeing the different views of the towns as well as the beautiful mountains! Kid was the best tour guide and it was just such a great experience!!Written 4 November 2024

- Pat P0 contributionsDay tour from ZurichEnjoyable day trip from Zurich offering the opportunity to take in the scenery around Zurich, Lake Zurich, Lake Walenese along with visits to the old town of Rapperswil, the Principality of Liechtenstein and the home of Heidi at Heididorf. The day was ideal for travel, despite been mid October allowing it to be a pleasure to leave the bus at any of the stops. Only fault would be that at any of the stops there was insufficient time to have a meal - can be a long day from leaving Zurich at 11am before returning at 6:40 pm.Written 27 October 2024
- Jeannie A0 contributionsTour not to be missedStart to finish, it was a well-run and interesting tour. Ramond was a stellar guide and Carsten an excellent driver. We saw incredible countryside, lovely towns, and we were given ample time to see what we came to see. The lunch recommendation was perfect, and the other travelers were kind and friendly. 5🌟 all the way.Written 21 October 2024

Barbara was very knowledgeable during the whole trip it was nice to hear history about each small town we passed through. I decided to go straight to Grindelwald and go up Mount First to the Cliff Walk, it was easily the best view of the Swiss Alps, incorporating the mountains and snow and the small towns down below. I would definitely recommend this tour and what I did and also bring sunglasses.

11,333 ft above sea level. I did not think I could adapt to the altitude, but the help of our "super guide" Kid B. who kept encouraging me, I adjusted. The tour stays for 2 hours, where you have free time. Let me say most people adjust quickly with no problems. We had a wonderful lunch.(not included in price. There are other Dining options. Train ride up the mountain was beautiful. A wonderful clear day. Cute a little towns covered the area.

The description listed does not match the actual tour. The tour we booked was literally just the tour guide and driver dropping you off in a city which all of the stores were not open. The tour guide said he was concerned about the families who don’t “upgrade” their tour to go to the top of the mountain. We paid an additional $120 per adult to get the “tour”. Every second of this tour was rushed and the tour guide was extremely rude. When we reached our destination, the tour guide was supposed to show us where to go however he was way too fast and rushed everywhere. It was extremely hard to try to keep up especially with the elevation it takes a minute to catch your breath. The mountain was beautiful and once my family and I figured out how to get everywhere we had a great time. When the tour ended we were not brought back to the same place we were picked up from. I recommend the destination but not the tour company.

The tour bus consisted of 4 different tour groups with 1 guide. We were first asked if we'd like to upgrade to go to the Top of Europe tour, which is about 125 Euro extra. We did not. Here is the review going by the itinerary.
First stop, Interlaken -- On our way going to Interlaken, there are many beautiful scenes to photograph, but we did not get a chance to stop to take any pictures, not even for 5 minutes. We were then dropped off at Interlaken for 20 minutes to use the bathroom. It's a beautiful city which we wished we had more time to walk around.
Then, Lauterbrunnen -- done as stated.
Then, Kleine Scheidegg -- this is basically a skii resort. This place had 2 restaurants and basically everyone's skiing/snowboarding. Because the tour bus consisted of different "tiers" of tourist, we were given a verbal directions along with a piece of paper on how we could travel down from the skii resort ON OUR OWN to a meet up point. We were given 4 hours here. THERE IS LITERALLY NOTHING TO DO HERE if you're not snowboarding/skiing. You can take photo for 10 minutes.
Then, Grindelwald -- a cute little two blocks that you can eat, drink and browse while you wait for the other tier groups to finish up their "Top of Europe" tour. We were given directions to meet up at the parking lot of a hotel only to find out that the bus would take us back to the bottom of the skii resort, which is about 10 minus from Grindelwald to pick up everyone else.
Overall, this felt like a very expensive car ride to a skii resort. We had too many hours at a skii resort and too many different tours within 1 bus/guide. We were basically self guided majority of the time.

It’s more than I have expected, the beauty and wonder of the Swiss alps can’t be described in words, it should be seen and felt.

Great tour with kid, pretty rad tour guide. Great information, expensive trip but well worth it! I would suggest bringing food, as some places don’t have it, or it may be expensive.
