Jungfraujoch: Top of Europe Day Trip from Zurich
From USD 249.79
Overview
Visiting Jungfraujoch, one of Europe’s highest train stations, from Zurich takes some complicated forward-planning and transport connections. This hassle-free guided tour takes care of the organization for you, giving you more time to focus on the scenery. Travel by comfortable coach through the scenic Bernese Oberland to Lauterbrunnen, and then ride the cogwheel train to Jungfraujoch’s Sphinx Observatory for the 360-degree glacier and mountain views—all in one seamless day.
What to Expect
Board a coach in central Zurich and journey south through Switzerland's scenic Bernese Oberland to Lauterbrunnen.

On arrival, you'll ride the cogwheel train to Jungfraujoch, one of Europe’s highest-altitude train stations, set 11,333 feet (3,454 meters) above sea level in a UNESCO-listed wilderness, and dubbed the ‘Top of Europe.’

Gaze at the snowy mountains as the train navigates the Kleine Scheidegg pass, and disembark at Jungfraujoch to enjoy the different activities and viewpoints.

Head for the Alpine Sensation, a visual-experience moving walkway that transports you past presentations showcasing the Jungfrau Railway’s history, and experience the Ice Palace glacier walk to see its glittering ice sculptures. Then, visit the Sphinx Observatory for stunning panoramas over the Aletsch Glacier, and the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.

If you wish, refuel at the restaurant (own expense) before riding the train back to Lauterbrunnen, where your coach awaits. Your tour finishes at the original starting point.

Costly but worth every penny

If the weather is good, take this trip. Even the bus ride to Interlaken from Zurich was beautiful. After a quick stop in Interlaken (would have liked more time), we started our trip up the mountains via several trains. Trip leaders controlled two bus loads...More

Jaw-dropping

As a local (Zurich, but anyway...), I'd like to add a bit of perspective to what others have written here. 1) Simply standing at the base of the Eiger North Face and looking up is one of the most awe-inspiring experiences you will ever have....More

Jierui, whether or not you actually need winter clothing at the summit depends on which month you'll be here. Any time between late June and (perhaps) late September should be okay with just a normal jacket. However, don't... More
