    What to Expect
Make your way to the valley station in Kriens, where you will board the gondola for the 30-minute ride over the pre-alpine landscape up to Fräkmüntegg. Parties with small children can disembark halfway up, at Krienseregg, where the Pilu Land playground is located.

Upon arrival at Fräkmüntegg, spend some time participating in the many outdoor activities offered, such as agility climbing in the ropes park or a ride on Switzerland's longest summer toboggan.

Continue up the mountain with a ride on the aerial cableway 'Dragon Ride'. Relax in the spacious cockpit and take photos out the large windows that make you feel like you're in a helicopter. The 5-minute ride takes you to the top, with views of the Alps and Lake Lucerne. Choose to remain inside the panoramic gallery, make the short climb up one of the peaks (5-10 minutes), relax on the terrace or eat a meal at the onsite restaurants (own expense).

Descend via the world's steepest cogway railroad. Aboard this train dating from 1889, pass lush alpine scenery on the way to your destination at Alpnachstad.

Check 'Additional Info' to see the annual departure timetable for both stations.

When we visited, the cogwheel train was not operating so we took the cable car both ways. When we disembarked at the Fräkmüntegg station (about halfway up to the top), we stopped and had a decent lunch at the station restaurant with the outstanding views...More

We took a bus from the city centre and got off and walked a couple hundred metres to the entrance. We exchanged our voucher for the ticket and the entrance. Then took the cable car right to the top and the cog wheel train back...More

We chose the cogwheel train from Alpnach to ascend Mt. Pilatus because we found there were lots of gondola options on other mountains and the cogwheel train seemed unique. It was! The negatives: - They don't let people pre-book and purchase tickets. So when we...More

First you take the gondola approximately 80 percentile of the way up the mountain and the views are just incredible. The final ascend is via the dragon air tram which is the best part and will make you gasp. I despise heights and did fine....More

Hi! Yes, you can take the panorama gondolas and the cable car instead. The panorama gondolas take you from Kriens to Fräkmüntegg and from there you can take the cable car to the top. Return the same way.

Hi! Yes, it's up to you at what time you take the cogwheel railway back down. Just make sure to catch the latest departure on that day.
