- Chiara C0 contributionsUnexpected emotion! 🤩My family loved the tour around the cathedral and especially the terraces! Our small group was the only one with a special access, we felt privileged to be there with a guide who explained every detail. The view was terrific from every side of the cathedral’s roof and we enjoyed every minute! We highly recommend walks in Europe and this tour! 5 stars aren’t enough.Written 18 January 2025
- KafkaShore0 contributionsWonderful Duomo tour with our guide ChiaraWe found this amazing tour provided by Walks in Europe via GetYourGuide app -- an amazing and exceptionally helpful app and website -- and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that our group of 3 were the only ones booked. We had our guide Chiara all to ourselves and due to our accidental good fortune to book at tour for 14:00 we wound up having the Duomo almost all to ourselves. Chiara is smart, business-like, professional, and full of incredibly helpful information that made our visit so much more valuable than had we gone alone or relied on the pre-recorded audio guides. Chiara started us in the Museum which wound up being helpful for context and background -- so when we made our way to the Basilica and then the Duomo itself it was more meaningful. Our tour was timed such (again, this was an accident on our part but a terrific one) that when we wrapped up in Duomo, there were perhaps only 5-6 tourists left plus a few security staff. We climbed the bell tower afterward and yes it's a bunch of stairs but it's worth it so long as it's not raining or fogged in. We made an important discovery. If you happen to be at the resting point (there are 3-4 along the way, basically a way-station platform to break up the climb) that is directly below the bell, this is a functioning bell tower! To hear the bell from a distance of only a few meters and within the confines of a stone tower is incredibly loud. Made for one interesting iPhone video and my ears were ringing for a while. Anyway, thank you Chiara, we appreciated our time with you and thank you for making our final tour in Italy such a pleasure. Oh, one more thought, we also by accident arrived at the top of the bell tower just at sunset. If you can manage the timing, you'll be glad you did. The way the sun illuminated the city for those twenty glorious minutes was amazing.Written 12 January 2025
- Stay179927866070 contributionsGreat tour, informative and spectacularChiara was a brilliant guide. Super informative and went through all the details of the statue of David and the other Michelangelo works in the Academia. The dome tour was great, the rain held off and the stairs up and down were not too bad. The inner dome from the balcony half way up is incredible. The ticket is good for three days so seeing the Baptismal and Cathedral as well on the same ticket.Written 3 January 2025

- Kim M0 contributionsGuide was a bore. Could have climbed the Duomo without. The climb of the Duomo was a great experience but we could have easily done it on our own- as it was the guide just dropped us at the door. We have done many tours and part of the success of the guide is to weave a bit of a story into what your looking at. This guide practically put me to sleep. The sites themselves are breathtakingly beautiful but the tour guide just told a lot of Radom facts but none of it really came together to make it interesting.Written 18 November 2024
- Y5677WYjonathang0 contributionsWonderful tourOur guide was extremely knowledgeable. She made the most of our time. We toured the museum, then the Dome, the Baptistery and the Bell Tower. The stairs to the Dome and the Bell Tower are a lot, but we thought it was worth it.Written 17 November 2024

- Laura M0 contributionsExcellent Small Group Experience in SiennaThis was an excellent small group experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. She was also very considerate. There was a couple, and the gentleman walked with a cane. She paced the tour and kept them included. The walk through Sienna was very interesting. The cathedral was beautiful. It was worth the extra time to see the museum and crypt.Written 15 October 2024

She was so knowledgeable and took pains to point out the intricacies that a solo visitor might not notice by themselves. Cannot recommend it enough.Written 13 October 2024
- thedude8140 contributionsDuomo tour excellentOur guide, whose name was Leonora or something like that, was excellent! Very knowledgeable on the history of Florence and she was able to explain it in a way to be able to bring it all together so to speak. Friendly, funny and just pleasant to be around. In case I didn’t get her name correct, she is a short, long haired brunette , young (late 20’s approx) very bubbly personality.Written 9 October 2024

Small group tour for the win! Our group was only four people total which ended up being really nice because we got to ask a lot of questions Daria, our guide, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Pisa. The tour itself came with entry to the main Duomo, the museum next to the leaning tower, the cemetery, and we bought the tour with tickets to climb the tower. If you’re going to Pisa, this tour is great because Pisa is small and it’s worth getting the full history of how everything came to be, otherwise you will go inside the church and the leaning tower and be done relatively quickly. Overall, I recommend this if you want to engage in the history of this location! Also buy the package with the tickets to climb the tower!! Worth it.

Had a great tour of Pisa. Felt like we learned so much and our tour guide, Roberto, was kind and wonderful. We did the optional climb of the Tower at the end and although it felt daunting, I was so glad we did it - was worth the effort! I did panic at first when I did not see our tour guide at the meeting point in front of the fountain so I called Walks and they got him quickly on the phone, turns out he was there, he was just a little off to the left side, holding a sign with my name on it but I was literally standing in front of the fountain as the directions said so I did not think to look a little further down the street, nonetheless, he found us and off we went on the tour. Roberto lives in Pisa and his knowledge is extensive. We did the 3:30 pm tour, we took a train from Florence that afternoon that arrived in Pisa at 2 pm and we had lunch at a restaurant in Pisa and then did the 3:30 pm tour and then took a 6:30 pm train back to Florence. Was a great experience.

These guys are wonderful - would recommend without hesitation.
We went on a tour of Field of Miracles in Pisa. We pre-booked the tour from the UK, before we left for Florence.
Unfortunately, on the morning we were travelling from Florence to Pisa there was an “incident” at the railway station and all trains were subject to significant delay, so we sent an e-mail to Walks in Europe to alert them to the situation. We got a swift reply advising us not to worry, as they knew about the delays.
By the time we got to Pisa and to the Field of Miracles we were terribly late. When we arrived at the meeting point there was nobody there. We sent another email and immediately received a reply telling us that the tour had just started, and gave us precise information as to where to join up. Two minutes later we found our guide, Roberto, who was just in the process of handing out the headsets.
Roberto’s tour was brilliant. Not too quick, and not too slow. Paced just right. Historical and local information was given by our guide in an easy manner, with good humour but also sensitivity. The physical attributes of the tower and the challenges of building and attempted corrections were also discussed in depth and with good technical knowledge.
We joined a small party and I think there were about half a dozen or so of us on the tour in total. This enabled us to move around together. Roberto gave us plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and he never seemed rushed.
All in all it was a really good guided tour, and we can’t thank the staff in the office (who stayed in touch by email) enough.
Although it was nobody’s fault that the trains were subject to such lengthy delays, without the help from the office I think we may have well missed the tour altogether. They really did save the day.

Valeria was wonderful. Being born and raised in Pisa she used her background and knowledge to provide an informative and engaging tour. And the use of ear pieces to hear our tourguide was a must and so nice to not miss any information while strolling along behind her as you needed to due to some crowds.

Roberto was our guide and did a SUPERB job! We learned so much about the history of Pisa, the Leaning Tower and the surrounding buildings. He was kind, informative, answered questions and had a lovely sense of humor. We had booked this tour because although we were on a cruise, we prefer local guides. It was just great. Unfortunately, it took longer than we expected to go to Livorno and back (where our ship was docked), so we had to leave the tour a bit early and didn’t get to hike up to the top of the tower. That said, Roberto was terrifically gracious and we didn’t feel cheated in the least. VERY informative, great stories and learned lots. Thanks, Roberto!

This was a small group (11 + guide) with ear buds. Our guide provided great background details of the tower, cathedral & baptistry. Cut in line tickets for the tower were awesome as there was a long line formed. We had a wonderful time and loved climbing the tower. Double check meeting location beforehand, our guide met us a block off-site which was a little confusing, but fortunately solved with google maps.

I was running late to get to Pisa from my cruise. The guide was great at communicating and got me caught up quickly. The guide provided an exceptional tour with lots of history. Walking up the tower was an absolute trip. It throws off your equilibrium and makes you feel drunk. The stairs are very slippery going down. It is well worth the climb!

Carolina was a great guide for visiting Pisa. We thought we were just going to see the tower but were surprised by the history and detail of Pisa's Cathedral Square where we visited the Baptistry, the Cathedral and the Camposanto Monumentale. All were breathtakingly beautiful! Climbing the tower on the leaning stairs was quite interesting and the view from the top was wonderful!
