Flavors of Lucca Small Group Tour with Food Tasting and Wine
USD 72.17
Overview
Discover the Lucca eateries that no foodie should miss with this morning walking tour. A great introduction to the city for traveling gastronomes, the food tour showcases the regional treats enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Sip on espresso, sample chocolate, and then raise a glass to Lucca over a lunch of artisanal cheese, cured meat, and wine. Numbers are limited to just 12 for a small-group experience.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at the Lucca train station, and walk with your group to Cathedral Square where bars selling espresso await. Take the lead of the locals and start your day with a coffee, swiftly followed by a bite of a sweet ring-shaped cake (buccellato di Lucca).

With your caffeine-and-sugar hit taken care of, you’ll explore Lucca’s main shopping street where Renaissance palazzi and artisan shops line the pavements. The street leads the way to one of the city’s esteemed chocolatiers, ready with sweets for you to sample.

Continue with a stroll along Lucca’s legendary city walls and then stop in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro for a lunch of local specialties. Bazzone ham, marble-white lard from Colonnata, fennel salami, and pecorino cheese from the mountainous Garfagnana region are among the treats, along with a local wine or beer, of course.

Your walking tour then ends at the San Michele in Foro church.

Train is cheaper but takes 1.5 hours, bus under an hour and drops you a bit closer to the centre.
