Any organization can provide tours, but what makes the tour a memorable experience and something you will never forget is the type of host or tour guide you get that is conducting the tour. This was the case with the Pizza and Gelato Cooking Class in Tuscan Farmhouse from Florence by Walkabout Florence Tours. Cris, Thomas, and Tiziano were the reason why this tour became a fun, learning, and unforgettable experience. Their passion and energy were so infectious that we will be talking about it for a very long time and refer this tour, along with the hosts to our friends that may be going to Florence. The Walkabout Florence Tours are very lucky to have the trio and I highly recommend that if you are booking this tour, ask for these trio. They are simply the best. We actually took another tour called Cinque Terre Day Trip from Florence with optional Hiking Tour also by Walkabout tour and we couldn’t believe how lucky we got Cris as our tour guide. He is the walking Encyclopedia of Italy. Everything you want to know about Italy from sightseeing to best food or restaurants, he knows it. Again, this tour is a 5 star rating. Don’t miss this tour when visiting or travelling to Florence. You wont regret it.

This was the best part of our trip in Florence. Just a short bus ride to the beautiful farm we spent 5 unforgettable hours there, learning how to make authentic pizza and gelato. we learn the basic technics of making Gelato with various flavors, and we got to try each other's products at the end, which was very fun. Cris, the gelato master, also teaches us tips on the best combination of different condiments and Gelato flavors. For instance, balsamic vinegar + strawberry flavor, Basil + cucumber flavor... it was fantastic.
When it came to pizza, we had two pizza masters Aria and Thomas were great. They were funny, patient, and knowledgeable. I'd never imagined I could make restaurant-quality pizza but I did it with their help. :) I came home and tried again and it worked!
The farm was beautiful with a great sunset view. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to spend 1/2 day away from the busy city center and do something really fun.

Traveling finally, after covid, had been a blessing and a privilege. I didn't think anything could make my honeymoon any better for my wife and I until we did two Tours with Walkabout, the Pizza & Gelato class and the full day Cinque Terre tour.

Gloria, Luigi, Thomas, thank you so very very much for not only educating us through the pizza and Gelato class but for also helping facilitate such a fun and interactive time between all of the participants. You brought out the best in all the people attending and made this a BEYOND memorable experience. You're knowledge, customer service, and passion for your craft flows through you so naturally and joyfully that we will now proceed to judge not just all other tour guides but also other Italians against the bar that you have set.

The autonomy of the the day trip led by Chris was a breath of fresh air from the typical guided tours. Your team has really hit the lottery with how you've managed to put together such a great tour whilst also allowing the amount of freedom we had. More than that was how impressively Chris and Aldo managed to keep the entire group of 65 people coordinated and organized and on schedule. Truly impressive and only possible if you really know what you're doing.

If you're considering booking anything with WalkAboutTours, do not hesitate. If the other guides are anything like Gloria, Luigi, Thomas, Chris or Aldo, you will have a memorable experience and be glad you trusted this review!

Thank you again for making our honeymoon so memorable.

Your friends from Vancouver, Canada

After 10 days touring and traveling around Italy this was one of the best experiences of all. They take just 10 minutes outside the city into the beautiful Tuscan countryside. All the staff was so much fun. Our group was a mix of young couples and families and everyone felt included the whole time. Being taught the science behind the pizza and gelato was fascinating. Great people, great views, great tour and fantastic food. There is a lot of pizza and gelato in Florence, but this might be the best.

We highly recommend absolutely no reservations. We experienced a wonderful afternoon full of fun and professional advice at the same time. All of the staff were wonderful and very helpful in learning something new. I would also like to mention a perfect knowledge of English.
In addition, we can recommend after visiting Florence full of art and monuments it was a great experience for our 12-year-old son, who greatly appreciated your lessons as the best holiday experience in Florence. We had a great time together, thanks again!

We had the most enjoyable experience with Lavinia Thomas and Luigi - such charismatic expert chefs who made the whole experience entertaining and fun and we can’t recommend the tour highly enough.
The ‘farmhouse’ is actually a purpose built professional kitchen but it was perfect for the course and the views over the Tuscan hills didn’t disappoint.
It was perfect to be able to eat the amazing pizza’s we made accompanied by a glass of Chianti Classico to round off the Tuscan experience and the gelato we made was definitely the best I have ever had.
We were 3 families from 3 different parts of Europe meeting in Florence for a family vacation and Lavinia and Thomas and the team were very kind to keep us together for a joint fun experience.
Our teenage kids wholeheartedly agreed it was the best part of our Florence Easter Holiday!
And a big shout out to Julia and Irena the hardworking assistants who kept everything clean and tidy.

This entire experience was a highlight of my first ever trip to Italy. Tiziano, Thomas and Gloria were hilarious and so knowledgeable in teaching the pizza and gelato making class. I highly highly recommend asking for them when booking the class. I learned so much about food science and had a great time. We started out being guided from our pick up point and taking a short bus ride to this beautiful Tuscan farm house. This place is just full of Instagram worthy shots. I still think about the sunset going behind the beautiful hills as I stuff my face with focaccia and wine.

Gloria greeted us outside when we arrived and walked us to the pizza making area to give us an intro of what to expect. Our class took about 5 hours but went by so quickly. After having some tasty snacks and wine we went inside to learn how to make gelato. People in my class were open minded and we decided to do many different flavors so we could try multiple flavors at the end. I love the flavor combos Gloria recommended- who knew lemon and basil would be so delicious. They used liquid nitrogen too flash freeze fresh ingredients like basil and rose petals so you could top your gelato. This is a foodies dream come true. The area was prepped so people could pair in groups of 2 and I felt like there was more than enough space for the class to work. Everything was so clean and quickly cleared out of the way for the next step but the awesome kitchen assistants. Next we went outside to learn about pizza from Tiziano and Thomas who again have a great sense of humor and did a great presentation on the pizza making process. There was a wonderful selection of toppings you can choose from (both meat and veggies) and the instructors were excellent at explaining and doing hands on to show different techniques. I still can't believe I was able to toss my pizza crust in the air without hurting anyone. Such a cool experience! Dinner was a labor of love and there was plenty of wine to go around. As we walked back I realized I had forgotten my backpack in the kitchen and Tiziano was so kind to drive my husband and I up the hill so we could catch the bus back. Thank you again! Overall super cool experience with wonderful teachers, I would highly recommend doing this.

This tour, and more importantly the people who worked the tour made our experience totally amazing! From beginning to end, Gloria, Luigi and Thomas made everyone feel welcome and inspired to make amazing pizza and extraordinary Gelato. They really made the group feel comfortable with the instruction given, the hands on portion, up to the time when we got to eat and enjoy the fruits of our labor! From Gloria’s passion for having us know what the essence of Gelato is, to Thomas’ and Luigi’s fun hearted and humorous method of pizza making, it helped to make this experience a highlight of our Florence vacation. We will definitely recommend this tour, these instructors and when, not if, we are in Italy again, we will definitely consider booking this tour again!

The combination of education, entertainment and gastronomic delight is rare but this cooking class pulled it off. Cris, Thomas and Tiaiano were able to share their knowledge of gelato and pizza while keeping us all engaged and hands on in making both. The smiles and entertainment were constant while at the same time they helped us deliver amazing personal pizzas and unparalleled gelato (we made cantaloupe sorbet). The gorgeous estate with views and garden, the constantly hard working support staff and these three gentlemen made for a most memorable evening. It’s one of those experiences where you just don’t want to say ciao. Grazie mille. Ciao.

Difficult to choose a favorite part. The hosts were amazing. Gloria, Thomas and Tiziano all made us feel so welcome. They were extremely patient in teaching us the fine art of pizza and gelato making...and they did it with kindness and compassion for our ineptitude. The view from this hillside haven is one you won't soon forget.

A remarkable kitchen to work in, with fun people and great meeting everyone who joined this tour. Wonderful food, good wine - felt well taken care of. It is one of the best tours I've experienced and I highly recommend it.
