- alexiamW1166XZ0 contributionsA Must-Do in Florence: Perfume Making at San SimoneOn Friday, March 14th, I had the pleasure of attending a perfume masterclass at Antica Spezieria Erboristeria San Simone in Florence and it was an amazing experience! Our instructor was absolutely wonderful. She explained the history of the shop and school, how it was founded, and the art of perfume making in such an engaging way. Her passion and knowledge was truly inspiring! The class itself was incredibly hands-on and well-structured. We learned about the different fragrance notes and how they interact (base notes, middle notes and top notes). There were so many options to choose from! Our instructor offered helpful tips throughout the process and made sure we each created a unique and personal scent. At the end, she mixed our chosen scents, and we each received an adorable 30ml bottle of perfume to take home. I highly recommend this masterclass to anyone interested in perfume or looking for a unique and immersive experience in Florence!Written 16 March 2025

- maried03100 contributionsMust doOn the 14th of March, I got to do a Perfume Masterclass. Before starting this activity, we got to learn more about the place and company itself, as well as the evolution of perfume. After that quick and interesting history class, each of us got to smell the different ampules from which we eventually got to create our own perfume. She then made the perfume according to the amount of drops needed and then we got to take our perfume home and got a certificate to remember the day. I would definitely recommend doing this activity as you will have to bring an unique souvenir back home.Written 14 March 2025
- maried03100 contributionsStunning Tuscan townsOn 12th of March, I went on the full day tour to Val d'Orcia, which was an amazing tour. We got to see some of the small towns of Tuscany and got to taste 6 different wines. We got enough free time to explore to towns as well as the wineries. It was a long day, however, you got to see some amazingly stunning places in Tuscany, more specially in the Province of Siena. Our tour leader, Danni, was a kind person who spoke 4 langagues fluently. I would reccomend doing this tour with Ciao Florence.Written 13 March 2025
- alexiamW1166XZ0 contributionsA wonderful tour with stunning towns, despite the weather! On Wednesday, the 12th of March, I joined the "Full Day Tour to Val D'Orcia and Gladiator's fields: Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza with wine and cheese tasting" with CiaoFlorence, and overall, it was a fantastic experience! The itinerary was well-planned, allowing us to visit some truly picturesque towns. The first two stops, Pienza and Montalcino , were absolutely breathtaking. I loved these places. Their charming streets, historic architecture, and stunning views made them unforgettable. I was especially excited about Montepulciano because, as a Twilight movie fan, it was amazing to see the filming location from New Moon in real life! We also had two wine tastings, one at ‘Talosa’ and the other at ‘Poggio Il Castellare’. Both wineries were beautifully located, offering stunning views of the Val d’Orcia hills. The wine was delicious! Unfortunately, the weather was really bad during the tour, which probably made the experience less enjoyable than it would have been on a sunny day. Some of the beautiful landscapes and views were hidden by clouds and rain, but despite that, the towns themselves still had so much charm and character. Our tour guide Danni was knowledgeable and engaging, and the transportation was comfortable throughout the journey. Even with the gloomy weather, I’m really glad I took this tour, and I would highly recommend it, especially on a clear day!Written 13 March 2025
- 691mckinleyc0 contributionsKnow what you’re gettingDue to the large group size we were given very little wine. The second winery split two bottles of wine between 40 people. 75% of the trip is spent on the bus. (This is not the fault of the company though, just something to consider). Would recommend to spend the extra money and go with a smaller group.Written 12 March 2025
- Annki G0 contributionsNice landscapeThe bustrip with all Tuscan wiews was better than the tastings. As a true winelover they were a little poor, and don't come hungry... The lokal specialitys with the wine was tiny, tiny and fewWritten 11 March 2025
- alexiamW1166XZ0 contributionsWonderful wine tastings and region! On the 10th of March, I went on the half day "CHIANTI COLOURS & FLAVOURS" tour provided by CiaoFlorence. We left with the bus at 14h30 to the first winery called "Il Molino di Grace". The guide gave us a little tour in the building and then we were able to taste three red wines. The wines were great! They also gave us some bread with their olive oil, cheese and meat to enjoy while tasting. We were able to take pictures around the vineyards afterwards and although the weather wasn't great, the view was still amazing. The second winery we visited was called "Tenuta di Riseccoli". This one was smaller, but the most beautiful one in my opinion. The layout of the guided tour was the same here. We did a little tour first and then tasted three red wines with some bread, cheese and meat. These wines were even better than the ones we tasted in the first winery! During both of the tours, the guides were very passionate and enthusiastic in their own ways. Our tour leader was called Cecilie. She was wonderful. A lot of times there were participants talking over the guides and the tour leader, but they all managed so well and kept their enthusiasm and kindness throughout the whole tour.Written 11 March 2025
- maried03100 contributionsScenery wineriesOn the 10th of March, I went on this amazing wine tasting trip with Ciao Florence. We met at the Piazzale Montelungo, where we also met our tour guide Cecily. We started off by going to the first winery called "il Molino di Grace", where we got a short tour around a part of the property with a lot of information. I got to learn about the difference between Chianti Classico and Chianti wine, which was in fact very interesting as I did not know about that. At this property, we got to taste 3 different wines, each with some information about the process and some cheese, bread, and ham. Then we made our way to the second and last winery called "Tenuta di Riseccoli", a small boutique winery. I learned that they only make about 20.000 bottles of wine, which is not a lot compared to bigger wineries. At this winery, we got to taste 3 other wines, also with some information about the process. They also offered us some bread with olive oil, cheese with their own balsamic vinegar, and ham. After that, we made our way back to Florence. Our tour leader was really kind and gave us some other information about the region, as well as some of the city of Florence - which I found really nice of her. To conclude, I would recommend doing this tour if you want to experience wines in a scenery setting.Written 11 March 2025

- Happiness427819497130 contributionsTuscany Dream !!The trip was amazing, our guides Roberto and Martina really knew the cities and were able to give great details about each one. We also stopped at an amazing vineyard that went back 15 generations and were able to purchase their wine. The travel accommodations were amazing, our driver Raoul was the best, and got us there safely but in great time. The bus was clean and spacious. I would 100% recommend !Written 7 March 2025

- alexiamW1166XZ0 contributionsIncredible workshop with a passionate chef!On Friday the 7th of March, I participated in the "Pasta Lovers cooking class: learn to cook tagliatelle, ravioli, and tiramisù with optional grocery shopping at Sant’Ambrogio market" led by the chef Matteo Vacca and I had a WONDERFUL time. The way Matteo was so passionate about his work and his love for cooking truly inspired me. He first took us to the "Sant'Ambrogio market", a very authentic not so touristy market, where we bought all the groceries for the cooking together and tried some meat and cheese. After we went to the beautiful 'Teatro Del Sale'. The workshop was done there, but apart from that it is also a restaurant that organizes fun activities throughout the months. Definitely check out their website if you want to have a unique dining experience when visiting Florence. The interior of the building was incredible. It was decorated with a mix of old wooden furniture from around the world. This made the place charming. The workshop itself was very fun. When we arrived, the table was set, aprons were given, and the wine was ready to be poured into our glasses. We first made the sauces for the pasta together as a group and after we could make the tagliatelle, ravioli and tiramisù on our own. The chef gave us tips and tricks on how to give the food as much flavor as possible and how to give the sauce the perfect color. When everyone was finished, we all joined in the restaurant where we had the chance to talk with the other participants and where we had some more wine, while the chef was cooking the pasta. The pasta and Tiramisu came out incredible! I highly recommend this workshop! It is prefect to do alone, with your partner or with a group of friends :)Written 7 March 2025

It is a long day, as you will be spending 12 hours visiting some stunning places in Tuscany, like Siena, San Gimignano, and Pisa. But it is totally worth it in my opinion. Fun fact: Italy has 61 UNESCO heritage sites and during this trip, we were able to already see 3! I opted for the all-in tour, including lunch and a guided tour in Siena. Constantino was our tour leader, and he was such an amazing guide! He was funny and shared some fun facts along the way.
We started the day off by being driven to Siena by the bus driver who has more than 20 years of experience. Upon arriving in Siena we got some free time to explore the city on our own. Then we met our tour guide, who told us some interesting facts about the city, such as the horse competitions that take place in the main square of Siena. Together with her, we also visited the Duomo - which was so detailed and just stunning to see! Once inside, we got to know that this Duomo is a combination of 4 different styles, rather than one. In some way, it all merges so well together. We were also able to visit the attached library that was still in its original state and well preserved, which I did. It still had some vibrant colors. After the guided tour, we had some more free time and then hopped back on the bus and drove to "Il Ciliegio", where we had lunch and were able to taste some locally produced wines. There was an option for vegetarians - which I found really good. The lunch itself was simple, but really tasty. After our lunch, we were on our way to San Gimignano, which I found the most stunning town I have ever seen. The town is also called the New York of the Medieval time. It is small but so gorgeous. It has an ice cream shop called "Gelateria Dondoli", which was voted the best ice cream in the world in 2024. It is a must visit as it has some interesting flavors. Once we arrived in San Gimignano, Constantino showed us a good leather shop and also gave us some information about the town itself, such as the twin towers. After our free time, we were on our way to finish off the day by visiting Pisa and the leaning tower of Pisa, there was more to do if you wanted to. In my opinion, you would not have been in Pisa if you did not do the famous pose that every tourist does. After our time in Pisa, it was time to head back to Florence, where we arrived at around 19:30. After this long trip, I was tired but satisfied, as I have seen some amazingly beautiful places in Tuscany. Tip: bring anti-car sickness pills, if you get car sick easily.

We took a whole day tour with Cristian. He was one of the best we had so far- very knowledgeable, patient with us and our two teens. It was hot and on a Saturday, but he made sure we were comfortable and informed during the drive to our destinations.
Private tour cost more but it was well worth it- everything was arranged for us-tickets, tours at Siena and Pisa, ticket to a leaning tower, lunch at a local restaurant!
Book your tour with Cristian and his company ( Ciao Florence) you will not be disappointed.

We just got back from our private tour through Tuscany with Christian through Ciao Florence and we are so glad we booked this! First, Christian was extremely knowledgeable about the entire history of Italy and helpful in planning our day. We ended up doing a local winery tour/tasting and that was the best decision! All 3 towns were beautiful and we had the convenience of being dropped off close to the main attractions so we weren’t wasting our time walking to these things but instead had more time to enjoy them. I’d highly recommend this tour and I’d say keep your itinerary open to allow for flexibility in your day. The private tour was the way to go and if you get Christian as your guide you will have gotten an even better day than you expected!

Just finished our private tour with Christian and I am so absolutely thrilled with the day we had and Christian as a tour guide. He arrived to pick us up from our hotel in Florence and on departure immediately began informing us about Florence and Florentine history. As we made our way toward Pisa, he was full of great information about the regions of Italy we were passing through - the history, rivalries, and how that shaped the Tuscany area. After a quick stop in Pisa for some photos, we made our way to San Gimignano, enjoying conversation with Christian the entire way. He gave us the insider information on getting gelato in San Gimignano, we spent some time shopping, and then we were off to a winery for lunch and some wine tasting. The entire way, my wife and I enjoyed talking to Christian about Italy, Tuscany, Chianti and even practicing and learning some Italian. Once lunch was over, we made a stop in Siena to see the piazza and the church and then we made one final stop at a winery for some additional wine tasting. From there it was back to our hotel in Florence. The entire day was the best tour I have ever experienced. Not just because of the sights we saw but because Christian was such a kind and wonderful guide that he made the day a truly memorable experience. If you have the opportunity to book a private tour of the Tuscany region, I highly recommend Ciao Florence Tours and Travels and if Christian is available, be sure to ask for him.

Cristian was amazing! What a magnificent guide. This was our first private tour in Italy and he was so knowledgeable and polite. He told us about recommendations and tips at every stop. We started by being dropped off right in front of the Leaning Tower. We then went to San Gimignano. He took us to a wonderful lunch, we tasted some wine, and had amazing foo. A place not usually seen during the public tour as the size of the winery is small and intimate. We would recommend him again and again!

In one day, we were able to visit more of Italy than any other bus or group tour could possibly offer. That's what justified the price. The small private car can move 40% faster and fit in 100% smaller roads than any bus or shuttle could.
Examples:
No round trip 30 minutes walk up to pisa from the bus parking lots
Can drive right up to major points and pick you up anywhere
Can drive on any road, comfortably
You'll find no bus or group tour that can cover:
Pisa
Sienna
A Winery
San Gimignano
Monteriggioni
... In a single day.
The private experience also offers not feeling like cattle being sheparded around by loud speaker. Our driver Placido, took us anywhere and gave us as much time as we wanted at every location. Additionally, Placido is educated in Italian history. He offered tons of great stories to tell us along the way.
If you're looking for a day trip from Florence, this is the one. Thanks Placido for the forever memories!

No, but the towns are small enough that you can comfortably walk around on your own using Google maps.
