David and Duomo Tour: Early Accademia and Skip-the-Line Dome Climb
USD 113.59
Overview
With a wealth of Renaissance history and art, Florence gets busy. Maximize your sightseeing time and avoid the crowds with skip-the-line tours of two of the city’s top landmarks: the Florence Duomo and Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David. You’ll even have time to visit Florence Baptistery and the duomo’s museum and terraces, too. The tour is led by a local guide and numbers are capped at 15 for a small-group experience.
What to Expect
In the early morning, you’ll head to Piazza San Marco to meet your guide and head straight inside Florence’s Accademia Gallery with your skip-the-line ticket. Make your way straight to the masterpiece of Michelangelo’s David, and hear how the statue came to symbolize the Florentine Republic, before you admire the artist’s unfinished I Prigioni works.

Stroll onward to Florence Baptistery to learn about the Medici, the de facto rulers of Renaissance Florence—many of whom were baptized in the monument. From the baptistery, you’ll step inside the Florence Duomo museum and step back in time as you see how the original façade once looked. Head into the duomo itself, and get close-up looks at some of the sites that are roped-off to the general public.

Finish on a high note as you ascend to the duomo’s terraces and climb a little further, if you wish to reach the top. Your tour ends at the terraces.

Highly recommend

Educational and entertaining, ask for Bernardo if you can, to add that extra something special to your tour. 😉 Like most companies, WofI also uses headsets which is a total game changer and I find them to be totally reasonably priced and well worth it....More

Our tour guide was FANTASTIC!

Great walking tour around Florence. Highly recommend. Our tour guide was so passionate and knowledgeable about the David, my kids really enjoyed that. We got to see parts of Florence we wouldn't have known to look for. Really worth the time.
