About
With a wealth of Renaissance history and art, Florence gets busy. Maximize your sightseeing time and avoid the crowds with skip-the-line tours of two of the city’s top landmarks: the Florence Duomo and Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David. You’ll even have time to visit Florence Baptistery and the duomo’s museum and terraces, too. The tour is led by a local guide and numbers are capped at 15 for a small-group experience.

Highlights
  • Make use of privileged access inside Florence Duomo and enjoy close-up views
  • Go straight to Michelangelo’s David on a tour of the Accademia Gallery
  • Enjoy less waiting and more interaction with your guide on a small-group tour
What to expect
  • In the early morning, you’ll head to Piazza San Marco to meet your guide and head straight inside Florence’s Accademia Gallery with your skip-the-line ticket. Make your way straight to the masterpiece of Michelangelo’s David, and hear how the statue came to symbolize the Florentine Republic, before you admire the artist’s unfinished I Prigioni works. Stroll onward to Florence Baptistery to learn about the Medici, the de facto rulers of Renaissance Florence—many of whom were baptized in the monument. From the baptistery, you’ll step inside the Florence Duomo museum and step back in time as you see how the original façade once looked. Head into the duomo itself, and get close-up looks at some of the sites that are roped-off to the general public. Finish on a high note as you ascend to the duomo’s terraces and climb a little further, if you wish to reach the top. Your tour ends at the terraces.

Absolutely amazing to see the real life David and get the full background on how he came to be and the artists that worked on him. Then to get the history of the Duomo and see up close the dome paintings. To top it off, we went to the roof for stunning views. Brilliant all round. A big thank you to our guide Angelo (I think) who made the activity with his knowledge on the subject.

Wow! This is a must do when in Florence. My eyes couldn’t be open wide enough to see the amazing sites. Matteo was a terrible tour guide and very professional. He took his time and didn’t make any question seem unimportant. Highly recommend do the climb to the top.

Our guide was full of information! I have toured the Academia before, but now have far more knowledge! But… the Duomo and the climb to the top terraces was the highlight of Florence. Absolutely breathtaking!

We booked this tour over a week in advance and were confirmed through TripAdvisor and Viator. We show up the morning of the tour and are told it’s overbooked. At first they tell us we’ll be on the next tour 15 minutes later, but what they “forgot” to mention was the next tour didn’t include the Duomo climb. It wasn’t until I called the office back that this information was given. We were told they weren’t able to get us admission at all at any time the same day, our only remaining day in Florence, and suggested we wait in line for tickets - exactly what we had paid a premium for to avoid the day of. In the end we were unable to see the Duomo despite having a confirmed booking well in advance. Do not book through this company unless you have a good back up plan. Terrible!

Our guide was Alessia and the tour group probably had around 15 people. Alessia did a great job of getting us from one place to another and through all the security, providing history and context along the way. Having the early access to the David statue is worth it! The Accademia was nearly empty when we arrived and quite crowded by the time we left. We really enjoyed the Baptistry and Duomo Museum. I cannot imagine not having Alessia there to provide the information about what we were actually seeing. The highlight was going up on the Terrace where you have the view of both Florence and the Duomo. We were tired from the day before and opted not to climb the dome at the end of the tour. I highly recommend this tour to see some of the biggest sites in Florence without all the waiting!

We thought this was the best tour we went on in Florence. Arriving to the Accademia early is key as you get to see David before all of the crowds arrive. There really isn't too many other things to see there. The walk to the Duomo was really nice and our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Unfortunately, the Duomo museum was closed, but she improvised and gave us a fantastic tour of the medieval section of Florence. We ended up going back to the museum on our own. Her tour of the Duomo was excellent! We did end up walking to the top, but it's not for the faint of heart.

This tour is an absolute MUST-DO when visiting Florence. Worth every single penny. Our guide was so sweet and so informative and spoke beautiful English as most of our group was from the US. I cannot imagine just standing in the regular line to get into any of these places and to just walk around aimlessly. The history our guide gave us as we walked and admired David was absolutely priceless. The Duomo was absolutely amazing. Our guide led us 1/2 way up and those that wanted to go to the top were on our own. I chose to go up to the top and it was absolutely breathtaking. I recommend this tour to everyone!

There is so much to say about how wonderful this tour was! First, our tour guide, Angelo, was spectacular! He made sure we were right at the front of the line to get in to see David. He took us to all the right spots to get amazing views of the details, and he told so many great stories and facts that made the experience so much more than just seeing a sculpture.

Then, climbing the duomo —- you absolutely have to do this if you’re in Florence, and by doing it as part of this tour, it’s much more than an amazing climb. You learn history, interesting facts, and see things in a way you’d never see them on your own.

I am terrified of heights but climbing the duomo was one of my favorite things I’ve done on this trip to Italy! I can’t wait to bring my teenager and pre-teen back some day to do this tour!

Let me start by saying our tour guide Vanessa was FANTASTIC! She was animated and passionate when discussing all of the artwork. The level of detail that she went into when describing the history of the Duomo and select pieces of art was spellbinding.

Having the opportunity to not only climb the the dome but come within inches of the frescoes on the walls at the top was unbelievable.

My expectations were far exceeded and would recommend to all art lovers and history enthusiasts. Do yourself a favor and put this on your to do list.
