About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- elvph0 contributionsGreat experience!Visited with my boyfriend in March. We were staying in Florence for a few nights and this was a great way to escape the city and enjoy the Tuscan hills! Gloria was an amazing host and very knowledgable. We were well fed and watered! The wine tasting was perfect and the food was delicious. This was a unique experience, contained to a small group, free of crowds and we really enjoyed ourselves!Written 26 March 2025
- M6103BTclairej0 contributionsSaturday sensationMy daughter and I had a terrific lunch at Flo's last Saturday. The place was humming, the food served within an appropriate time and, as always, the staff attentive and very cheerful - tres bien. Daughter had a wonderfully presented scallop crepe and I had my fave, The Spaniard. Lashed out and had the avo with it! Excellente! More than enough for daughter and she is a "good" eater; I took half mine home as was not quite as hungry as I thought. Always a "yum yum" experience. Merci beaucoup, Flo's.Written 25 March 2025
- thesouzas200 contributions100/10 recommend this if you are in Florence! The money is worth every cent! Not only was the travel arrangements so easy, the team was so personable and fun! Gloria, Lavinia, and Carmela were the best! We laughed, danced, and ate a lot. The class was simple to follow and provided a lot of opportunities to get your hands dirty! Don’t forget to mention, we left so full of pasta and gelato 😋 recommend you arrive with an empty stomachWritten 25 March 2025
- FarAway482118289860 contributionsBeautiful experience in ItalyWe traveled in 3 citys. This tour was one of the best experiences I had in Italy. We first met our group at 8.00 am, and our tour guide was so sweet and with good knowledge of the history. First stop was in Siena, second stop in San Gimignano and last stop in Pisa. We saw many beautiful places, we had a wine tasting experience also. We returned around 20.00, with their bus. Their bus driver was also good & kind, and i felt safe throughout my journey. Definitely recommended!Written 25 March 2025
- rondad4100 contributionsOur favorite day in Italy! Our family (me and husband, 18 and 23 year old children) did this tour last week. I really cannot do the review justice on how amazing the tour was. Claudia was our guide she was the best. It was a long day yes, but we knew what to expect. The lunch and wine tasting were our favorite part and it was a beautiful day! Highly recommend!Written 25 March 2025
- Q8499FDashleyd0 contributionsBeautiful, fascinating art and history!Becky was our guide - we were very lucky that no one else signed up for the Duomo tour - so it was like getting a private tour. She was incredibly informative - I learned so much about art and art history during the italian renaissance. The Duomo was incredible and she gave detailed information on its construction, the meaning behind the frescoes. I loved the visit to the associated museum where she pointed out important works and the evolution of artists’ styles and techniques. One of the most fascinating tours I’ve ever been on. The climb is strenuous but worth it. Communication is excellent. Seamless. Would go on so many more tours with Becky in particular! Strongly recommend!Written 24 March 2025
- hricklefs730 contributionsA must do!What can I say? Highlight of our trip. This experience was referred to us by friends. It exceeded expectations. The only downside was that the “family farm” feel was really a “business”. However, it was still great, easy, and convenient. The pizza, wine, and gelato were amazing!Written 24 March 2025
- AbbieM1011010 contributionsMesmerising. We had a wonderful time with our guide Tony and driver Labi. Tony was so full of information and so attentive to everyone’s needs, but also included down time on the coach between driving place to place. This tour does include quite Abit of walking and this was our 7th day in our 7th city so we were very sore but well worth it. Our highlight of the trip was the stop for lunch, tasting the different wines and getting to speak to people on our coach that we hadn’t before.Written 24 March 2025
- Kim P0 contributionsDefinitely full day experienceEmma was with us all day. She’s witty, but knowledgeable & made for a fun day. City of Siena was amazing & our local guide still lives there gave us all the history. The family winery where we had lunch is absolutely beautiful. Took advantage of the free shipping to take the US & worry free trying to get wine home. Shopping in San Gimignano awesome & beautiful as well. While it was fun to see the iconic leaning tower of Pisa, made for a long day so be prepared. Was a complete full day & well worth the pricing. Definitely recommend.Written 24 March 2025
- V6750PKalant0 contributionsGreat trip5/5 experience with Gabriel. Everything was on point and punctual. We learned A lot of Tuscany and visited Pisa. Tuscany is a def visit and Pisa is just for a quick pictureWritten 24 March 2025
- X305HZvincentg0 contributionsExperience of a LifetimeOne of the best experiences one could have. Lavi was extremely knowledgable and personable, making the trip equally educational and enjoyable. The excursion allows you to go places in Tuscany that are virtually impossible for normal tourists to reach, resulting in authentic food and world-class views. I enjoyed the Safari so much that my time in October 2024 was my second time doing it, and I would sign up again in a heartbeat. The Safari is not to be missed!Written 23 March 2025
- Scubagirlvws0 contributionsFamily pizza and gelato makingWe were a family of 4, and this was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip to Italy! Lavinia, Arla and Tiziano were so much fun, and excellent to work with! our 2 teen daughters had a great time, and best of all, the pizza and gelato were DELICIOUS! Just a quick 12 minute bus ride from the Florence meeting point, and a great family bonding experience! Thank you!Written 23 March 2025
- S2494NRpaulh0 contributionsChianti Adventure: Wine, Learning, & Fun - Gina Made it Memorable!Absolutely fantastic! Walkabout Tours' "Off Road Tuscany Wine Tour" from Florence exceeded expectations. Gina, our guide, was exceptional – patient, knowledgeable, and radiating passion for Tuscan wine. Marco, our driver, made sure we safely arrived at our destinations. My three kids, new to the world of wine, were captivated by the off-road adventure and the insightful explanations of the wine making process. The rustic lunch and stunning scenery perfectly complemented the delicious wines, making it a truly memorable day. Highly recommended for a unique Tuscan experience!Written 23 March 2025
- Resort6115840 contributionsVery nice dayWonderful tour. David and Sergio did a wonderful job. Enough time at each stop to get a good overview. Bus was comfortable. Guided tour in Siena was informative. Lunch at vineyard was a nice chance to meet fellow travelers.Written 23 March 2025
- KavitaHayton0 contributionsGreat introduction to TuscanyHad an excellent day despite slightly damp conditions. The day was a good balance between sitting on the coach and walking around the places we visited. I recommend this as an introduction to Tuscany. Antonio was a great host, funny and informative without overloading us with facts. The driver Labi got us everywhere efficiently and without fuss. A few tips: Take travel sickness pills if you get travel sick, Tuscan main roads can be quite bumpy; it was colder than I expected even for March so bring an extra layer; we were a pretty big group so be prepared to walk everywhere in a line!Written 22 March 2025

We had an amazing day trip to Cinque Terre from Florence, guided by Manuel and Alessandro. Even though the optional hiking portion was pouring rain when it started some ambitious people still went. Be prepared for a lot of walking—definitely recommend being in decent shape to fully enjoy the experience.
The tour was well-organized, starting with a bus ride from Florence to a train station, then traveling by train through all five breathtaking villages of Cinque Terre. The views were absolutely stunning, even with the rain! Our guides, Manuel and Alessandro, were fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke great English.
We opted for the optional lunch (around €15) at a place known for its pesto sauce, and it did not disappoint! However, you do have the flexibility to eat wherever you’d like.
Overall, this was a great experience, and we highly recommend it for anyone wanting to explore Cinque Terre in a day. Just be ready for lots of walking and unpredictable weather! It was an amazing tour and I would do it again

Our Cinque Terre day trip more than exceeded my expectations. Our tour leaders, Chris and Ardo, were absolutely wonderful. They were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about the places we went to see - not just guiding us around but offering valuable insights both on the bus and at the Cinque Terre. They were also very clear in their communication to ensure we easily navigated the train rides around the 5 towns.
The tour itself afforded us enough time to both soak in many of the picturesque sights and explore each town. We also did the optional hike which offered some incredible views, and, so long as you mind your footing was more lesiurely than strenuous. At its peak you could see vistas of both Manarola and Corneglia. And the walk down towards Vernazza offered gorgeous views.
Another pleasant surprise was the food. The affordable lunch option at an authentic restaurant was absolutely delicious, as were some of the local offerings like Fried Calamari and Foccacia.
Walkabout Tours have put a tremendous amount of thought into this tour and it pays off. You even come away with a richer appreciation of the towns along the way, the Liguria region and La Spezia.
I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see the Cinque Terre in one full day. And again, I can not praise our tour leaders enough for the wonderful and professional job they do.

We booked our Cinque Terre tour with Walkabout Tours using the GetYourGuide app. We spent 10 days in Italy this trip and did 8 guided tours and this trip, with our guide Chris at the helm, was hands-down the best thing we did the entire vacation. Chris is not just incredibly friendly and generous with time and attention, but he also had a ton of logistics to manage simultaneously. With steps to climb, hikes to navigate and trains to catch to move between towns, it’s truly a wonder that Chris was able to simultaneously dispense so much information and knowledge, making each town its own special visit, but also keep track of everyone and make sure all were cared for. I regret not asking his WhatsApp number so we might stay in touch post-trip, or possibly welcome him to the States some day. Chris made this trip truly unforgettable and the scenery of course simply speaks for itself. Thank you Chris!

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Florence. Because of the great planning and organization of the tour guide (ours was Gabriel), you are able to experience a taste of all that Cinque Terre has to offer in just one day. To do this day trip on our own would have been feasible, but would have required research and planning. Instead, we got to sit back and relax knowing we wouldn’t miss a thing. If you are physically able, I highly recommend doing the hike and grabbing a lemon slushi along the way. My one piece of feedback is that you need to have Euros on you for the trip and the company didn’t notify us of that in advance. Plan to bring at least $30 Euro per person if you want to eat and drink at lunch.

If you have a limited amount of time to squeeze in a visit to Cinque Terre, then this is the way to go! We were based in Florence for a week, and while there’s tons to see in the city, we wanted to take advantage of our proximity to do some sightseeing elsewhere. Cinque Terre has been on my bucket list of places to see, so we jumped at the chance to book the tour through Walkabout Tours. Mind you, I spent hours scouring the various itineraries and reviews of other touring companies, but the itinerary offered by Walkabout is by far the best!!!
The tour itself is well organized for managing visits to all five (Cinque) towns. And our guides, Chris and Alessandro, were experienced and knowledgeable guides about the entire area. They were great at pointing out points of interest along the bus ride to and from the train station in La Spezia. From there, you then visit the five towns.
Each of these towns is quaint, and each offers some of the most breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. Our guides were great at taking us to the best spots to take pictures and gave us tips on specialty foods or stores to check out in each town. This is a great time saver as we are on a pretty tight schedule to see all five towns in one day. It was also fascinating to hear about the history of the towns and the significance of the layout of terraces and buildings.
You do have the option to do lunch on your own, but we highly recommend going with the guides’ suggestion - it’ll save you precious time from having to find a restaurant yourself. The weather was perfect that day and we were able to enjoy our meal eat with a beautiful view at of the valley below and ocean just beyond.
After lunch, our group was split into two: those who wanted to hike into the next town or go on by train. The later choice affords you more time in the next town to do some souvenir shopping, or taste some food there… we chose the latter. FYI- if you want a truly unique souvenir, consider stopping by and checking out the work of a local artist in Vernazza. He does some beautiful work that captures Cinque Terre, and will autograph anything you purchase (and provides a travel tube for your purchase).
The day ends with a fantastic boat ride from Monterosso Al Mare to Riomaggiore. What can I say about this other than spectacular! To see each of the five towns from this view was without a doubt the highlight of our day.
This tour was perhaps our most favorite of our time spent in Italy. The only caution is that the advisement by the company, i.e., “involves a lot of walking” is spot on and no joke!!! These are very old towns so there are no lifts to get around on (except at the train station, lol). There are lots of stairs involved, and of varying heights and depths. And truly, lots of walking in general but also well worth it. Absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this tour!!!

Glad we booked this trip, our guide Gina gave clear instructions on where to meet, kept our group moving along the day showing the best vantage points of where to take photos, shop etc. She had a lovely personality Be prepared for a big day of walking, we took the train option, but there is still lots of steps and up and down hills and reclines Be prepared We opted for the lunch option offered by Walkabout, which I would recommend You have different options and the food was very good. The village where lunch is allocated is very small and has v limited alternative options. Toilet stops are difficult, even though the ticket includes free toilet access in the stations of the National Park, when we tried to access them they were closed Recommend at the last stop you buy an overpriced drink at the bar or cafe to access a toilet, it’s a long trip home with no toilet stops, we had people on our bus who were caught short. Overall this is a perfect way to access and explore the CinqueTerre region

Each town is like a museum in itself, with its own identity, eateries and unique quirks. They are colourful, fun to explore and picturesque due to their cliffside location. The towns get very busy on weekends, so I recommend doing a mid-week tour. We got enough time in each town except the first one, as we had to catch the train back but after 12 or so hours of exploring it hardly felt like a raw deal at this point.
The seafood and pasta for lunch was very good food, though I thought it was overpriced. The hike was short but sweet (30mins-1hr), which is the only way to logistically fit such an event in with such a large group. Yes, there was I'd say around 70-80 people on the tour.
Most of the unique food options come in the last town of Monterosso, including fried pizza dough and a wine tasting. I advise getting some alcohol here for the boat tour, which gives a great new perspective of the five towns.
The tour guides were great, extremely well informed and helpful from lending spare face masks to paying for the bathroom for those with no cash, which is really appreciated.
A great day, not too rushed in my opinion but I would recommend returning on your own itinerary if you wish to sunbathe or spend more time in the many bars/eateries located there.

Cinque Terre was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint! Beautiful villages on the coast, wow! What an experience! Our tour guides, Victoria and Gabriel, were phenomenal! They were fun, informative, and very knowledgeable about the places we visited. There were 44 of us on the bus tour, and yet, they learned our names and made it a very intimate experience for us…ultimate professionals!
One of the options on the tour is a lunch which you pay for, or you can go have lunch on your own. Do yourself a favor and sign up for this! After a 400 step hike, it was great to arrive to our lunch destination, have a seat, and enjoy a delicious meal with fellow travelers. Be sure to take cash so that you can pay the lunch in advance.
In all, this tour was absolutely worth our time and money. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and prepare to do a lot of walking and take a lot of pictures! What a fun day!

We had the pleasure of being guided by Ado, Chris and David. They were a cohesive team that was organized, informative and extremely accommodative.
We had a large group of people varying from different ages, backgrounds and they made a genuine effort to get to know all of us and learn how to maximize all our experiences.
I would highly recommend booking a tour with this group, especially during busy seasons. My partner and I were able to enjoy Cinque Terre to the fullest, met a lot of other great travellers, and captured great pictures/memories.
It’s a long day trip that can be draining, but it’s well worth it!

The day started off ok but then went downhill quickly. Got on the bus for 1 1/2 hours and made it to the first train ride. Dave said meet back in ten minutes and then we ran to get in a bathroom break. We meet back and then he said we will meet back at 30 minutes. Why in the world he did that made no sense. So we sat at the train station for 40 minutes?!? Got to the first city had a horrible time getting off the platform and Dave took us on a 15 fast walk thru and then back to station to catch another train. Btw Dave recommended we eat at the restaurant- DON’T! You pay $17.50 for very small appetizer and pesto pasta and it was not good. He said on the bus there is wine but didn’t say we have to ask for it and pay for it. So we got one bottle water for four people. After lunch was the hike and then 20 minutes to get back to train station. The next city was the worse, Dave said we meet right here at 4:45 to get on ferry and then recommend get this fried cheese dough thing- that was bad and he walks us there and then he just leaves. I thought he was going to get one? So we meet back at 4:45 at what he said but it was actually at the pier. I asked him when we found him he said no I said on the pier. He 100% did not say that. Even some passengers where getting upset with him. View was amazing but I would just skip the tour and do it yourself. Honestly Dave did nothing for us.

About how long is the hiking section and what degree of difficulty is the hiking
Written 31 December 2024
Hello Joan,
The hiking section lasts 1 hour and an half and the difficulty depends a lot on the physical activity level of each participant.
The hiking part of the tour for people of above average fitness who enjoy trail walking. Although we do not cover long distances, there are many steps, steep slopes and the walk can be strenuous at times, especially in the heat of the summer.

The itinerary lists the stop for Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre as 8 hrs, is that correct, what is there to do for 8hrs?
Written 30 December 2024
Hello Colin,
The whole five villages of the Cinque Terre are inside the National Park, so the time we are there is spent to visit all five villages.

An answer from 2022 says that we can leave bags on the coach. Is this still an option? We will have an overnight bag as we plan to spend the night in Florence at the end of the tour.
Written 31 March 2024
Hello Terri,
Yes it is still possible. You cab store your luggage on the bus for the whole day and collect it back once you'll return to Florence in the evening.

Written 13 January 2024
Hello Shane,
Unfortunately we cannot accept anyone younger than 8 years old due to the pace of the day and the area visited.

Can one person opt for the hiking part and another person opt not to hike and meet up together at the next stop?
Also, can you hike at one stop and not another stop, or is it all or nothing?
Written 15 June 2023
Yes it is possible. The group is only split after lunch into hikers and non-hikers. Everyone gets the Cinque Terre card which gives access to trains and trails as part of the price. The hiking portion is scheduled on the trail between Corniglia and Vernazza, not hiking between every village. Those that take the train will have more time in Vernazza than those who hike, but eventually everyone meets back up to continue as one group.

Does the transportation only option still allow you the boat tour so you can see all 5 villages by water? If so, what is the process like?
Written 26 May 2023
Hello Jermaine,
No the Transportation Only includes just the bus transportation from Florence to La Spezia train station and back.

I’m interested in going to lunch at Ristaronte Cecio with the rest of the group, but I don’t eat seafood. Are chicken options available? I don’t necessarily want vegetarian.
Written 26 May 2023
Hello,
We are sorry but no chicken option is available.

If I choose to do the guided tour, do I have to visit all 5 towns, or can I choose maybe 3 I want to go to and spend extra time in those 3 towns and just meet up later with everyone?
Written 26 May 2023
Hello,
You can decide to skip any town and meet back with your guide later in the day.
