About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- gvgb0 contributionsThey take care of you like family!!THIS is the company to TRUST! Every member of this company cares about you and takes care of you completely!! We had a terrible morning because our ship docked at a different location than what is normally used which left us separated from our guide. Even though we lost time in the morning, this company went out of their way to more than make up for it! When booking the excursion we asked them to take us to a specialty shop for some specific items. Imagine our surprise and pleasure to find out that the office manager went to the shop and got the items for us, then drove to meet us on tour, surprising us with the items! How gracious, kind and thoughtful, this allowed us to keep to the tour and get our items without wasting time. We cannot say enough about Prestelli Sicily Tours and will always use them when we travel to Sicily!Written 26 November 2024
- markkob690 contributionsMagical DayWhat a magical day touring wineries in Mt. Etna region! Elena was a fantastic guide and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. All 3 wineries were diverse and incredible. Was a dream day for me and my fiance.Written 13 November 2024
- closeknit0 contributionsMust do walk around Mt. Etna!We actually did two tours with Prestelli - this one and the six hour tour to 3 wineries. The tour guides were top notch - Alessandra for our Mt. Etna tour, and Elena for the winery tours. Both were extremely knowledgeable as well as wonderful to talk to. We highly enjoyed walking around Mt. Etna and were lucky to have a beautiful day with clear views. The company itself was extremely easy to deal with. Highly recommend using them!Written 12 November 2024
- closeknit0 contributionsWonderful Day!We actually did two tours with Prestelli - this one and one to Mt. Etna walk with lunch and wine tasting at a winery. The tour guides were top notch - Alessandra for our Mt. Etna tour, and Elena for the winery tours. Both were extremely knowledgeable as well as wonderful to talk to. My favorite winery was one I actually chose - Filippo Grasso. The only thing I would inquire about is how many wines you will actually taste at each winery. Some of the wineries seemed more interested in giving you a lot of food and less wine - still wonderful but we were expecting more wine and less food. The company itself was extremely easy to deal with. Highly recommend using them!Written 12 November 2024
- Passport7569250 contributionsAmazing walking tour of Ortigia with a true localWe had the pleasure of touring Ortigia with the most wonderful guide, Biagio Giaccone through Prestelli tours. Prestelli were very easy and flexible to work with. Biagio was incredibly knowledgable, informative, interesting and fun. He was such a pleasure to spend time with provided an insiders perspective to the beautiful and rich history, culture, and charm of Ortigia.Written 2 November 2024

- jamiho0 contributionsFantastic personal tour of EtnaPrestelli Tours was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. The office staff answered emailed questions very promptly during the planning phase, which made it so easy. What’s more, they didn’t even request a deposit. Payment is requested in cash at the time of the tour. And then the tour: our guide Alberto picked us up right at our hotel in Taormina and he was wonderful. He is studying for his advanced degree in vulcanology at the local university, and has lived his whole life with Etna outside his bedroom window. He couldn’t have been more friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. First we stopped at a place to taste and buy local honey and wine, then on up the mountain to a lava tube where we hiked in a hundred meters or so. The ground was very rocky and uneven, so wear good shoes! Then on to the parking area near the cable car. We opted not to go up and hike further upslope, but there are lots of very cool extinct cones to hike on near the parking lot. The views are amazing, the place is otherworldly. Then on to a winery for a tasting and lunch. Prestelli has a relationship with several local wineries, we were taken to La Gelsomina, which I highly recommend for its charming owner who was happy to chat with us about the wine and his wine business. The food was very good as well. We also visited a second winery which also served food. This place, Gambino, was a much bigger and slicker operation, with lots of tour buses rolling through, but still very pleasant. At the end of the day we were tired, full and happy. Highly recommend Prestelli.Written 27 October 2024

The producers were all small and incredibly welcoming. And the wine was fantastic. Roberto was a knowledgeable and warm host. Whether you are a wine lover or just looking for a day full of stunning views away from the Taormina tourists, I highly recommend!!Written 16 October 2024

- carol3080 contributionsPrivate Etna Wineries Tour - Amazing! We took a private day tour to three Etna Wineries. Prestelli is simply the best. We had the most wonderful day visiting three very unique and different types of vineyards. One included a beautiful lunch. But what made our experience even better was Prestelli's accommodation to a last minute port change from our Ritz Carlton Yacht itinerary which put us into Sircusa the day before we originally scheduled . I contacted them less than 48 hours before our arrival to Siracusa, and they worked so hard to accommodate the change and the day was absolutely perfect. I would definitely use Prestelli again and will let anyone know how dependable and wonderful they are to work with.Written 14 October 2024
- Safari4771740 contributionsDo not miss this tour! This was by far the best tour in Taormina we did! It was more than just the Godfather movie history, it was a beautiful tour through the hill towns of the area . Bruno is by far the very best tour guide we ever had and much to our surprise and good fortune the same guide we had last April 2023. He is dedicated to preserving the beautiful and rich history of Taormina. In addition the late lunch was the very best food we had in Sicily . Thank you Bruno for making this one of our best experiences in Taormina and one we’ll never forget !Written 14 October 2024
- jenniferjd20240 contributionsGreat experience and valueThis was an truly exceptional experience largely due to our tour guide Alessandra. She was wonderful in communicating with us the night before so we were all set for the morning. She is a born and raised in the area and took the time to share a lot of great history and current events with us while expertly driving us around the Etna countryside. We learned and laughed a lot! The wineries were each unique and lovely with great hosts, wine and food. We especially loved our visit with the two brothers and the lunch they prepared for us. It felt very boutique and special and the small batch wines they shared were truly unique and while we each had our own cars and drivers we met two other lovely couples which was unexpected and fun. All in all it was a great value and experience!Written 13 October 2024
- Born2travel20 contributionsUnforgettable DayThis is our second time in Sicily and this tour represents all the beauty of the island. The mountains and the sea. Our guide Francesco was kind and never rushed us. The arancini were tasty. Thank you for the unforgettable day.Written 7 October 2024

We hesitated to book this tour because of the cost, we’ve been traveling full time since January and we just weren’t sure if it was worth the splurge. IT WAS WORTH EVERY EURO! I cannot recommend Alberto and Prestelli Tours enough. They were absolutely incredible from start to finish. We booked the private tour because we were worried our 1 and 5 year old kids would be disruptive during a group tour. Alberto was so knowledgable and had my 5 year old so engaged the entire time. He held her hand, helped her navigate the lava rocks and then played with her at the winery when she was bored. I plan to come back to Sicily and book with Prestelli and Alberto again! If you are on the fence, let this review be your sign to book!!!! I promise it’s incredible.

Pasquale was amazing arranging a tour for me alone. I was never rushed, met with wonderful English speaking staff at the wineries, along with introductions to management. The wine was wonderful as were all the pairings with food. It was a great value and would definitely recommend this tour if you live great views and delicious wine.

This might seem expensive compared to some excursion companies but it is more than worth it. Biggest thank you to Raffaele, our guide for the day. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly, showing a real passion for his country.
We got to see parts of Etna coaches couldn’t go in the 4x4, and Raffaele’s attention was impeccable offering walking sticks for the main climb, and refilling water at a local fresh spring.
The vineyard was amazing and Jessica welcomed us into her world with no wine snobbery in sight. A fabulous meal and 4 wines to taste ( which can be bought but no pressure) and a guided tour around.
We’d do it again in a heartbeat and definitely the highlight of our holiday.
Top tip wear sturdy trainers/shoes for the Etna crater climb.

Amazing tour - Pasquale helped us design the perfect itinerary, adding in another vineyard at our request, and Omar was the best driver. Very knowledgeable about Mount Etna and not rushing us at any point. He even offered to take us on a hike up to the 2000m crater in addition to the 3000m one which we had booked. Would highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to customise the standard tour offered and not feel pressured to move at the pace of a group! Thank you very much Pasquale and Omar!

5 star tour. This was an excellent representation of Etna wineries. Each winery on our tour had something unique that set it apart from the rest. The ancient theater that provided the terrace for the vineyards, the stone roads through the vineyards where the carts of grapes were carried, the magnificent views of Mt. Etna at every turn. The winery hosts demonstrated the process from growing/harvesting, to processing and aging. Some were even involved in working the land with their own hands. This is the best wine in the universe, and sorry it is very difficult to purchase outside of Sicily. Perhaps that will change in the future as the industry grows. What made our trip most special was our driver Maurizio Barone. He was an expert himself on Etna wines. He taught us the history of the surrounding villages, pointed out lava flows from past eruptions, and even stopped off in Linguaglossa for a quick church tour and gelato and cafe break on the way home. He offered suggestions for the rest of our stay in Sicily, and we were not disappointed. We wished we could have had him for our entire Sicily trip! If you book this tour you must request this driver! He represents what is most special about Sicily, it's beautiful people. Maurizio grazie per tutti! Memories that we will cherish forever.

Our guide was Marco and touring with him was like spending the day with an old friend. He was so knowledgeable and easy going. The ride up to Mount Etna was lovely and seeing the craters and the landscape was astonishing, definitely a must see! The winery was also fantastic, they did a nice presentation and we tried different wines paired with different meats and cheeses in a beautiful facility.

My wife and I enjoyed this tour very much with our guide Omar. Very scenic at the volcano and Omar was very good explaining the flows and craters etc. We toured in mid October and we should have been a bit more prepared for the lower temperature. The wine tasting and lunch at the Gambino winery was also extremely enjoyable!!…..I would highly recommend this tour and Omar as well !!

We had the absolute best day on this tour, with our wonderful tour guide, Elena. The description of this experience honestly under-sells itself, as everything we did blew our expectations. Elena took my fiancé and I through the small villages, up to Mt. Etna, showing us underground tunnels and beautiful views along the way. We climbed Mt. Etna, visited local businesses, and ended the tour at a beautiful winery while receiving the absolute best service. We recommend this tour to anyone that wants to see an entirely different part of Sicily and be treated like royalty. It is a perfect day trip!!

Our guide, Alessandra, was wonderful! She provided great information, local stories, fantastic humor and made the entire day so much fun. The stops were all perfect to get a great perspective of Mount Etna, as well as the countryside. The winery was pristine, with great lunch and wines to accompany. We would highly recommend both Alessandra and this excursion to others!

I was very impressed by the personal service I received from this company.
I was looking for a customised Private Hiking tour of Mount Etna according to my requirements.
I enquired with several different companies without much luck. Some wouldn't respond. Some didn't respond with what I wanted and some either refused to run the tour due to the season, or was complacent and slack in their responses. Not this company. From the word go, everything was so professional. I loved the service I received from Jessica over email who patiently explained everything to me, and made very useful suggestions about what area to hike in, based on my specific needs.
A couple of days before the tour, the owner Pasquale phoned me up to explain the state of the weather conditions at Mount Etna. The weather was poor and an offering was made for an alternative day to maximise the chances of a good experience. However I only had that one day so I couldn't swap it and I still wanted to go provided it was safe enough to do so and I was going to let the hiking guide make that call. Pasquale was understanding and patient and agreed.
Luckily the day of my hike, while going up there was not great weather, when we got to the first hike spot and beyond that, everything cleared up like I hoped and yes it was freezing cold and windy but the experience was fabulous and I got what I wanted and more.
Elena was a great hiking guide. Astute and prepared. She had hiking sticks and made sure I was safe, checking on me all the time. She was flexible and lovely and we had a great personal chat. She had a thick jacket for me as well.
I would suggest that the company provide some guidance to guests in future about what to bring and wear in terms of clothing because the temperature up there was nowhere near what it was on the ground. I caught a bit of a cough after that but luckily had medicine to clear it up in a few days.
Also perhaps the company might want to invest in some company cars or a nicer, larger car.
Otherwise I highly recommend this company because they provide an excellent, personal, professional, caring and accurate service, very much tailored to my needs. They didn't need any deposit as well so there's nothing to lose. I would happily use the company again.

Hi, 3 of us are young enough and good to walk the crater. My mom is 85and in great shape but im concerned the walking will be too far for and long for her. Is there a place for her to rest , take a break or get a ride back?
