- Furleys0 contributionsGive it a go great value entertainmentFantastic value and really good fun. Early dinner and this just finished off a lovely evening. You don’t have to be an opera buff to enjoy this. Three artists are excellent don’t take take themselves too seriously perform music to entertain but with great skill and gusto. The drink and snacks in the break is a lovely and welcome touch.Written 8 October 2023

- 444carolinao0 contributionsExcellent performanceThis is a small theater at the top of Taormina. The show feels like a private opera performance where you can see up close the opera singers and pianist, you have an intermission which include free drinks and snacks. The show completely exceeded our expectations, we will go back again. My daughters ages 11 and 13 loved the show as well.Written 30 June 2023

- hamisht8620 contributionsConcert RecitalLast night we attended the Teatro San Giorgio in Taormina for a concert recital of operatic solos and duets by Soprano Claudia Ceraulo and Tenor Davide Benigno, who sang with enormous skill and passion. They were accompanied by pianist Antonio Gennaro who played with great sensitivity and panache. The concert was enjoyed enthusiastically by a large audience who were treated to a glass of Prosecco on the terrazzo overlooking the sea during intermission. All in all a charming evening, which I believe will be repeated with different programs every Wednesday over the winter and more frequently in the high season. Bravo!Written 28 November 2019
- Johhny M0 contributionsEmbarrassing ExperienceWas enjoying the Italy in Voice Sicily Opera on Monday and decided to visit Italian Opera Taormina for tonight. There is no announcement regarding about visual recording wasn't allowed in the Opera. I was recording some of the song without knowing audio recording not allowed as I'm allowed to record the footage at the Italy In Voice Opera without any problems. At the last part of the session I've been harassed by the staff by taking my picture at every corner and then came talked to me in Italian. Feel like I'm the criminal by recording the audio. If I'm doing something wrong she should've come to me and tell me recording the audio is not permitted. She shouldn't taking my picture at every corner. The experience is really embarrassing and I'm not recommended this Opera at all. For my opinion Italy In Voice Sicily is much better than this Opera. Stay away if you can. I'm regretted to visit this Opera with such bad customer service. Go to Italy In Voice Sicily if you wanna recording and better performance compared to better advertising.Written 25 October 2019
- 524cristina0 contributionsPleasant HourVery sweet arias (soprano and tenor)in San Giorgio. Pianist, Antonio, was outstanding. 9.15pm performance was a bit late for me as I had an early start to Siracusa the next day. €25 was a bit pricey - full house though!Written 17 October 2019
- gsmith3470 contributionsNice intro to OperaWent to Teatro Nazarena in Taormina last night to see the Opera show. I've never been to the Opera but my wife wanted to go. We got there early so our host gave us a tour of the theatre and the beautiful night views from Castlemola to Calabria. The show was excellent and even though the crowd was small, the performers sang and played their hearts out! We had a nice halfway intermission where we had a drink and chatted to the performers. Really enjoyed the night, especially for the price. Bravo!!Written 3 October 2019
- hugox7330 contributionsAn unexpected highlightThe piano player and the singers delivered a great performance we really enjoyed. O sole mio. There were not many people and only a few ladies were delightfully dressed. We went there in our flip-flops which was no problem at all (felt a bit embarrasses though. Next time at least long trousers, promised). Very warm welcome, time flew by and we all gave standing ovations in the end. A big thanks to the opera team. It was a wonderful change to all this sightseeing, beach, dining and the crowded streets of Taormina. We strongly recommend this to everybody who loves Italien opera songs. They serve quite a broad spectrum of songs. Unfortunately cannot upload fotos as we left our phones in the hotel.Written 30 September 2019
- RodHarris0 contributionsWhat a wonderful eveningAttended Thea Italian Opera Taormina last night and what an experience! Eleven separate “favourites” from Italian Opera presented in a small but comfortable theatre, air conditioning on and an expectant crowd. And we were not disappointed! A wonderful pianist supported a soprano and a tenor in presenting a tasting plate of Italian Opera for the audience’s delight and pleasure. A halftime glass of Prosecco on the balcony overlooking the 9 April Square, its crowds and hubbub, and the sea simply added to the experience. A must do if you are in Taormina but get in early - small audience and very popular, sold out on our visit.Written 25 September 2019

- webster0000 contributionsOkWe had already seen the three Tenors in Sorrento and was expecting similar but not quite so. It was the Saturday evening performance and what was performed was completely different to the programme. The pianist who started the performance played rather heavy pieces which would have been too much for holiday people however, the Baritone who came on with his own pianist stole the show and made the performance a hit. Lightened the evening with Figaro.Written 18 September 2019
- m66mbm0 contributionsGreat entertainmentThoroughly enjoyable evening, great performances by all three artists and well worth a visit. Good selection of popular opera songs professionally delivered with a fun twist. We will definitely be booking tickets when we are next in Taormina.Written 21 August 2019

Just back from a delightful evening at Italian Opera Taormina. We had a superb baritone, Graziano D'Urso, and a fabulous Mezzo Soprano, Maria Motto, both accompanied by the amazingly talented Antonio Gennaro on piano. Purists might turn their noses up, but it was a really entertaining show and beautifully sung. The audience were on their feet and I wanted the performance to go on for longer. At 30 euros a head, including a glass of fizz, you cannot go wrong. Fantastico!!!

Really high quality singing, and a selection of beautiful well-known arias, which I guess changes regularly depending on the singers available - on the night we went, it was a soprano and a bass, but the selection of solos and duets was extremely well done. There is a great view from the theatre terrace, and a 15-minute intermission for a free glass of prosecco. The theatre is small, maybe 250 seats, so you can see and hear well from anywhere. A great evening out in Taormina. Note that If you are coming from Giardini, the show ends after the last bus has gone, so you will need to get a taxi back, which will inevitably be expensive (e20 in our case). Still well worth it though.

Whether you have been to opera or not this is well worth a visit. The evening covers a number of well known songs from different operas. The singers are very good and the pianist on the night we saw was Antonio Gennaro who was superb. Standing overations and encores👍would recommend book a few days before you go as maybe sold out if you leave last minute , we booked standard 30 euro tickets and had drink at intermission, very good value for money . Would definitely recommend 👍

We enjoyed the programme very much, the programme was varied & both singers were very good as was the pianist who accompanied them. The venue was easy to find and the seats comfortable although packed close together. We were also treated to two encore pieces. Strangely for a venue of this size there was only one unisex toilet area. It consisted of 2 large cubicles neither of which were lockable and the hand drier didn’t work in the one I used. Also part of the ticket price offered a glass of Prosecco & snacks. The snacks were a bowl of potato crisps and one of nuts. Not very hygienic for an audience of, maybe, 200+ and ‘plastic’ flutes of Prosecco? An interval was welcome but the snacks unnecessary we thought. However the performances were a delight.

This was such a great night. People with VIP tickets went in early and had a Prosecco. This of us with standard tickets were allowed in 30 mins before and we had all been chatting in the queue so the atmosphere was lovely. It’s a lovely little hall with a small stage. If you’re not familiar with opera this is a lovely introduction. If you are into your opera then this is really different as the hall is so intimate the performers are so close and it’s different to the usual big theatres. The performers change but we had an incredible pianist and tenor and a mezzosoprano who were wonderful. No microphones- they just fill the hall and when they hit those big notes - wow. Intermission drinks were perfect. Make sure you cheer for one more song- repeatedly - because it gets more fun! Absolutely wonderful evening and really worth the money.

Warm welcome, friendly environment with easy Prosecco flutes before and halftime.
An incredible tenor and a sublime soprano beautifully sang arias from the most popular operas shadowed by a master pianist.
In a small and picturesque theatre, for about 75 minutes, they magically drove us into a dream. Well done! I’ll be certainly back at first chance.

Italian Opera is a great way to spend an evening, and relatively inexpensive at €30. I would not bother with the €50 VIP tickets as all you get in addition is sitting in the first 5 rows. We were in row 6 ! Frankly capacity is only 120 so all seats are good. The opera itself is pretty good and fun. Glad of Prosecco outside at half time. Indoor event.

Wonderful and intimate experience. Beautiful voices, charismatic singers and great selection of arias and duets from the most popular operas. It was a windy night so the performance was moved to inside by the very professional and courteous staff, which offered glasses of proseco during the intermission. I highly recommend this activity if you visit Taormina.

Excellent night of Opera for a couple of non opera buffs . The two singers and pianist were superb and performed a wonderful selection of songs from various operas . Highlight of the night for me was o Mio Babinno Caro. The theatre itself was small and intimate housing only about 150; unfortunately the rain meant we weren’t able to enjoy the drinks intermission as much as we could . But all together we’ll worth the visit .

The location of the small theater, very accessible, easy to get to, quite close to the place of accommodation. I did not like that we were not allowed to sit nearer the front near the stage, although there were free seats, those being occupied at the end; if we knew, we would be late too. The performance hall, quite small, but enough to be full every evening with tourists eager for classical music. The show made all the money! We enjoyed the most famous opera duets, from The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, La Traviata by Verdi, Tosca, Madam Butterfly and La Boheme by Puccini, performed by two soloists, a soprano and a baritone, accompanied by a very good pianist. Very good artists, in addition, the soprano also had an exceptional stage presentation, being a very talented and very beautiful and elegant young woman. The show was composed of two parts, with a break in between, during the break we went out on the terrace where glasses of Prosseco were waiting for us. I didn't see the water, maybe it was over when I came out, and the snacks were all in one bowl for all the spectators. I wouldn't have put my hand, to put it on my plate, where over 130 other people put their hands, and anyway I didn't come for snacks and water. The atmosphere was excellent and the musical performance very good. Overall it was a very good experience.

Hi, I would like to know where can we see the seat position of the ticket we buy? Can it be choosen?

As others have stated, to have your choice of seats, get into line early to enter the theatre. The venue is small.

Access to Toilet in the theatre only by steps.
I saw a narrow street leading to the theatre, used by passants and motorcycles, not by cars. Ask at the theatre if you use it from upper streets. Do Not use the main street, because from there you have to climb about 50 steps. But there is a handrail on the wall at the left side.

In answer to your question I entered through the front of the building and left through the rear entrance/exit. Both involved negotiating quite a lot of steps. I was not aware of special disabled access but if it is available, and you should check, I don’t think it will need to be booked. Hope this helps.

What time is it over? We have a train to catch out of Taormina that leaves at 11:30
Written 18 May 2019
Finished by 10:30-10:45. You’ll need to walk back towards the Porto Catania on Corsica Umberto (turn right at the bottom of the steps) and walk about 1/4 mile to catch a cab to the train station. The last bus is at 10pm.
