My Family had a great time walking the streets of Ortigia with Alessia. We enjoyed local food and wine and learned about the market. If you have time and want to enjoy food and wine with a local, book with Alessia.

A Fantastic few hours with Alessia walking through the markets of Isola di Ortigia. A great start at Fratelli Burgio then shopping through the stalls followed by the Komi g class. A wonderful experience

We were expecting more food and wine tasting and less of a history tour. We spent a bit of time at the the Apollo Temple and walked some side streets. He then walked us through the market followed by a great lunch and one glass of wine. I think we could have done that all on our own. There was another couple on the tour which was fine, but the web site says a max of 12 which would have been too crowded. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable.

Our guide was wonderful - she was knowledgeable about the location, vendors and products. However, this was more of a food market and tasting and not the wine tasting we were hoping for. Our goal was to get a better understanding of the wine varieties from this region. That said, it was an interesting tour, we learned about the cheeses/meats/produce/etc. from the Etna region and we would highly recommend it.

I did a food tour with Alessia. It was terrific. I go on lots of food tours and this was a great introduction to the market place and all it had to offer. I wished would of done it first thing because the first stop was spectacular. A cheese/meat deli with delicious wine. A BIG GLASS lol.. Start the tour off right!! We had some cheese, meats, bread and vegetables. Then we tasted a few market varieties. Then we had a selection of calamari, vegetables, shrimp, arandini, and a small beer. We then tasted a few more treats at the market and finished with a delicious dessert at the meeting spot. I thought it was very good. Not too much food but certainly enough. Alessia was excellent. I highly recommend. I heard she also does a cooking class that is great.

Visiting Ortagia it is a wonderful and stunning location. We hired a scooter at the airport and rode to Syracusa where we stayed in a wonderful AirBnB in the old town. Food is super and we spend one day at the Lido Arabella another stunning location about 20 minutes outside Ortagia. Breakfast or lunch at the Calarossa Cafe is a must with the home made produce and "special" house spritz.

We took this tour on a cruise stop, and have already recommended this to several people! It's only a couple of hours (leaving plenty of time to explore after), and Damiano introduced us to things we never would have found on our own. Fair warning - come hungry and you won't regret it! Also be warned you may be ruined for food from where you are from. My husband joked we will never eat Polly-O mozzarella again!

Dameano is the “rock star” sommelier and food aficionado who conveys the passion of Sicily with his wonderful skill and personality. He is a hidden gem in Sicily. Arranging dinners at fabulous local restaurants where the amazing chefs are his friends to Michelin star establishments we were treated like Royalty. His wife Allessia at Smile and Food is his perfect partner teaching us the cook delicious Sicilian food. Don’t miss this dynamic duo!!

This was the first cooking class I ever signed up for. This was more than a class, it was an experience. We started by going to the local market and sampling some local delicacies. From there we selected out ingredients for the class. Then, it was to the kitchen where we did the preparations and cooking. Alessia was so friendly, spending time with a local really made the trip to Siracusa special. I highly recommend this to all who have any interest in Sicilian food, as you learn a skill for life.

Alessia was great, sweet, funny and knows everything about Silcilian food. The food we tasted was great from local places. Only a bit too much.... We would book the tour again

What a great time - she met us in the market and we had an amazing tour and snack and wine - then we bought the ingredients for the cooking class together - then went and made pasta and sauce - so good and fun and maybe some wine Ask her for the eggplant recipe

Alessia does such a wonderful job and has titled her business appropriately, because you will Smle all the time you are learning about and eating Sicilian food. Not only was this fun and taste filled but Alessia also is very INFORMATIVE about the history and source of food on the island. Absolutely fantastic expereince. Cannot speak highly enough of Alessia and her team!

We had a great day with Alessia. Shopping in the market of ortigia and cooking in her kitchen. Alessia was happy to teach us to cook whatever we suggested and we made pasta, a tomato sugo, eggplant parmigiana, stuffed calamari and cannoli. Yum!! It was fascinating to learn that so few fresh ingredients make a wonderful meal. Alessia was extremely generous with her time and hospitality. Highly recommend

Looking for a cooking class with a difference, then this is the one you need to book.You start at the local produce market on the island of Ortigia, where you select the fresh produce that you will cook and eat. You select the freshest ingredients that are in season, so you know they will be at there very best for flavour. You get to pick the theme, meat v fish. Alessia will then take you back to her home where you help prepare and cook what you have purchased. Make sure you don’t eat to much beforehand, as there is plenty to eat. This is a must do when you come to Sicily, highly recommended

Thank you Alissia for a fantastic day. We loved our visit to the Ortigia market. The plater from the deli was delicious and it was very special to meet the cheese maker. We had a great time selecting the ingredients and preparing the Ravioli with fresh Ricotta with a delicious tomato sauce in your kitchen This was followed by Tuna topped with sweet and sour peppers. A warning for all! Do not eat breakfast before this slow food experience.
