About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- CalvinN200 contributionsEtna Morning ExperienceIt was a well organised trip. Although there were 2 cars due to the number of participants, a radio was used so allow both cars to hear the guide. The guide frequently waited for the group to come together before continuing his explanations. All in all, I would strongly consider another trip from them if we are back in Sicily.Written 8 March 2025
- 103ryanb0 contributionsEasy tour of EtnaFun way to see Etna without a big commitment of time and money. Emiliano was a super knowledgeable guide. We had a nice morning.Written 2 March 2025
- michael101210 contributionsPassionate tour guideMainly wanted to give a five-star review for our tour guide Giovanni, who’s very passionate, knowledgeable and friendly — Learnt a lot about Mt Etna and Sicily from him! The tour itself was decent. It was a rainy day so we didn’t get any stunning views at the craters, but overall satisfied with the tour.Written 14 November 2024
- V6201RGpeterl0 contributionsThe best tour experienceWhile it is easy just to say the hike was spectacular it was thanks to our guide Giovanni that made it a perfect day. In addition the staff at Etna Experience, especially Laura, provided an excellent pre tour experience by responding to questions quickly and ensuring we had all the relevant information about the tour. As someone who worked in protected areas management and dealt with visitor needs at our organization's sites I can say without hesitation that the team at Etna Experience are exceptional professionals who I would have no problem recommending to friends and family. I definitely would go on a tour with them again.Written 11 November 2024
- Amelia J L0 contributionsReliable tour company with awesome guideI enjoyed the tour very much. Marco was an exceptional guide. He's very knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic. He made the whole trip very insightful and interesting. One point to note is that I had a discussion of the various tour companies with my hostel dorm mates and a number of them had negative experience (last minute cancellation etc) with other companies. Etna Experience seems to be one of the more reliable ones. I deducted a point because I initially wanted to do the easy summit tour but was told there wasn't enough participants and I was asked to sign up for this Etna wine Alcantara tour instead while waiting to see if the summit tour becomes available. There was no update on that. Although this Etna wine Alcantara tour is perfectly fine and highly recommended if you want an easier day with more variety, what I really wanted is more hiking and less excursion. Perhaps the company can do more to allow people to choose the summit tour instead (wouldn't have minded paying a bit more for it).Written 29 October 2024
- Ellen Z0 contributionsExcellent tour and guideWe had a great day of hiking and learning with Marco on the Easy Top Etna tour. He was prompt, fluent in English, friendly, very knowledgeable about the volcano, botony, & history of the region. I felt that he had a good sense of the individuals in our group and made sure everyone was sarisfied. The lunch provided was delicious! Everything was coordinated smoothly and we got to experience the beauty and majesty of Mamma Etna with a local. Highly recommend!Written 17 October 2024
- majobor0 contributionsEtna + lunch + Taormina. Average tour that tries to fit too much and delivers none. All in if you just want to fit a lot in one day, this is your tour. If you want to experience any of the items properly , Etna, Etna wines or Taormina, break the trip up. Transport: We got picked up from Catania in a van that clearly needs new suspension and missing inside panels. Made for an interesting drive. Etna: You go to a shallow cave and then you climb to 1700 metres approx on a couple of ash dunes/hills. . That’s a 2k round trip done at a very slow pace. You’ll see the best of Etna from afar and there is no chance to go any higher. Lunch: 30 sec explanation of a couple of glasses of wine, no explanation of the food which had only one warm piece of lasagna, rest was cold. No explanation how to pair it with the wine either. Taormina: With 2 hours you’ll be pushed to experience it properly. Felt a bit short changed. The guide Mirko was the best part of the trip, very happy, knowledgeable and chatty.Written 22 September 2024
- Karenkpk990 contributionsAmazing hikeIf you found this trek - just do it!!! It took me several attempts and searches to find this trek but so glad that I did. Giovanni was an amazing tour guide. His background is in biology specifically botany. He is so knowledgeable and gave us the appropriate amount of information. We all had different hiking abilities and yet we all felt well taken care of. The views we were fortunate enough to see were breathtaking and definitely pictures will never do it justice.Written 15 September 2024
- 265anjal0 contributionsYou really get your moneys worth! This experience really gave me my moneys worth! Sweet and experienced guides with a lot of knowledge on the area. They were helpful and gave good recommendations and advice. Picked me up and delivered me right next to my air BnB. The route is visited by millions a year, and it shows, it’s really on the beaten track. If you want to see the basics, have a safe tour and get a wonderful lunch and wine on the way, this is for you! Also got to know new people, which was a plus for me as solo traveller. Highly recommended!Written 14 September 2024
- Lucas F0 contributionsMont Etna crater + Wine + TaorminaMont Etna craters + Wine + Taormina Me and my wife loved the whole experience. Marco was the guide, born and raised in Catania. He explained about how life in Sicily and Mont Etna are related since the past, and how many benefits the Vulcan brings to this region. If you like geology/biology, definitely it is must to go. Beside Mont Etna, we visited the caves near by and finished the first part with wine tasting and some typical dishes for lunch. In the afternoon we went to the cost city call s Taormina for visiting the Greek Theater, but the city by itself worths the visit, quite cozy. I strong recommend to bring a big bottle of water, the sun and hot weather can be hard.Written 30 August 2024
- MeriDaV0 contributionsA perfect day around EtnaThe tour was perfectly organized! All stops made sense and completed each other in a meaningful narrative of Etna. Salvatore was the perfect guide; caring, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He made all the difference. Definitely recommended! 👏👏👏Written 22 August 2024
- jakubkY5786NK0 contributionsLying straight to our facesSo this was not a good experience we didn't even end up booking with them tried booking a MT. ETNA SUMMIT STRONG TOUR, this was not possible, why? Well it wasn't possible because apparently you haven't been able to visit the summit of mount etna since February 2021st for safety reasons (at least that's what they told us in an email), this a very blatant lie and can easily be disproven by going on YouTube and watching one of the videos made in the time since then that do in fact go to the summit. Mind you i know you need a certified guide to reach the summit but this was never mentioned in the email. Here is the part of the email i am talking about: "Unfortunately, since February 2021it is not possible to reach the summit of Etna anymore because of safety reasons. Now, the maximum height reachable is 2950 meters." I also don't see why they have the option on their website to select this tour if it has been unavailable for 3 years. In the end i cannot recommend a company that will lie straight to the customers faces with such an obvious lie, one star.Written 24 July 2024
- mariacV6411HR0 contributionsHighly recommended tourWe had the most amazing day with Andrea! Etna was spectacular and worth the pain I will felt in my legs the next day. Im not an experienced hiker and our guide was very patient with my slow ascent. The provision of hiking poles was a great help. Andrea has so much knowledge and he took the whole thing to another level with his insights. I am a plant lover and he was able to answer so many questions for me. The cave was scary but exciting. The gorge was amazing and the water invigorating to paddle in. Lunch at the Emilio Sciacca Etna winery was wonderful 😋 and the view from there was beautiful.Written 18 July 2024
- 415leilanil0 contributionsGreat experience from booking to hikingIf you are planning to visit Etna, I highly recommend you book a tour with Etna Experience. Our experience with them was fantastic, from the efficient and courteous team in reservations to our knowledgeable guide Marco who spoke perfect English. We did the full day "easy" tour, took the 4x4 bus, the cable car, had lunch and then visited the Silvestri craters and a cave. Marco shared so much incredible information with us about Etna, volcanos, and indigenous plants - in perfect English - and you could feel how much he really cares about his customers and this precious part of Sicily.Written 18 July 2024
- NorthStar303188425700 contributionsNot so easy but definitely Well worth it!Etna Experiences was a terrific resource (we did a sailing trip with them as well). Our day went well above our expectations - literally! Our guide, Angelo, was punctual and patient at our pickup spot 2 blocks from our lodgings. We stopped to pick up hiking boots and poles, after he checked our shoes for adequate treads. Well-informed, he was able to share so much about the area, the volcano, the eruptions… The trip to our high destination involved a van, cable car, large ATV , and a hike. Easy it was not but within our capabilities (our group of 4 ranged from 32 to 73 yrs old) and definitely well worth it . Back to the base of the cable car, we hiked through a lava field up to the edge of a lateral crater, and learned about botany as well as seismic history. Finally, we had (provided by EE) delicious pasta and lovely wine, followed by great cannoli, at the Refugio Sapienza. It was a terrific day for all of us.Written 8 July 2024

Everything organized to perfection already during Reservation. We were picked up at our hotel by minibus and dropped off at no extra cost. We were also provided with footwear because our sneakers were not suitable.
Exciting ethnic tour, fascinating views and beautiful Alcantara gorges, we had the courage to swim despite the icy water. Lunch and tasting of quality wines.
Special thanks to our Guide Giovanni, who in addition to being very prepared and professional was super welcoming, helpful and nice. We were a mixed group of Italians and foreigners and he was able to make us all participate by speaking and providing explanations in our language and English. To recommend to everyone.

A fantastic day spent exploring the slopes of Etna and sampling some of the regional wine and food. My partner and I were the only two on the tour and our guide Giuseppe was brilliant.
Suitable shoes and socks are provided, as they likely won’t be in your holiday packing. The slopes are really awe inspiring and you get a powerful impression of nature’s power up close! Giuseppe explained all the features we passed by and had some great knowledge of the local plant life also.
The vineyard we visited was also incredible and the owner was a kind and generous host. The wine itself was delicious, and some light lunch was also put on and tasted great. Giuseppe took us to a perfect spot for a final photo to end the day before transporting back to Catania.
Definitely can recommend this experience especially as it balances those interested in exploring the immense volcano as well as the wonderful local produce.

Giovanni was a great guide. Enjoyed the two vineyard visits very much, particularly the second which was very professional. The winemaker was enthusiastic and passionate about his product. The lunch was fine but pretty ordinary pasta. Not the highlight.

The tour was beautiful! Janet took us on a lovely excursion hike through Mt. Etna’s stunning landscapes. Her passion and experience in geology made the hiki even more fascinating, packed with all the inner workings of volcanos and how they impact the surroundings. The wine tour afterwards was lovely as well. Really friendly, knowledgeable wine makers with a clear passion for their wines (and delish food pairings). Grazie mille a tutti!

Long overdue review, we visited in October 2019. We were a group of 4 that signed up for the Etna and Wine excursion. This day trip was a highlight of our time in Sicily! We had Fabio as our guide, he was very engaging, knowledgable and made us laugh! He really went above and beyond the entire day, really wanting us to have the best impression of his beloved mountain. We loved being able to hike around on Etna, but the best part had to be going into the lava caves! The wine tasting and lunch was terrific, and we got so many lovely treats at our last stop. Highly recommend the pistachios and the chili pepper flakes! We would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Catania area. Thanks Fabio!

Dear Carls,
Thank you very much for your review. Even if it is about an "old" experience, we appreciate it a lot... even much actually! :)
Please stay safe in this crazy time and we hope to see you again if you think to come back to Sicily one day.
Warmest regards,

I read great reviews of Etna Experience before contacting them. They far surpassed my expectations. I contacted them about a bespoke wine tour, as there were specific wineries I wanted to visit. I dealt mostly with Helena, who was very responsive to emails and just amazing! Our driver to the wineries, Giovanni, was fantastic. He told us so much about Sicily - things you cannot learn from a guidebook. He was so lovely. We also booked transfers from Catania to Taormina and Taormina to Messina. Our driver was great and gave us wonderful tips. Everything happened on time, which we appreciated. We had such an incredible experience with everyone on the Etna Experience team. They really care that you have a great experience.

We had such a fantastic experience! Our tour guide, Janet, was absolutely fabulous, extremely knowledgable with great English. It was only the two of us (my partner and I) on the tour which made it rather intimate and enjoyable.
It rained on the day we hiked but the clouds parted and we were able to see Mount Etna and the snow on the mountain top. We were also able to see Taormina and Calabria which was nice. Before the hike, we also explored the caves that had been formed from lava and that was interesting with Janet being highly informed. The wine tasting was lovely, we even bought a bottle of red. However, we did feel that lunch at the vineyard could have been a little more substantial. At the end of our trip, we stopped off at a local honey farm, the honey samples were delicious with honey being infused with eucalyptus and lavender amongst other flavours. At the honey farm, they also had olive oil infused with porcini mushrooms, chilli and onion. We also bought a bottle of olive oil infused with onions which I cannot wait to cook with!
The excursion was fantastic and I would 100% recommend it.

A great intro tour to Etna. You go half way up the mountain and experience some older eruptions and craters on Etna. Marco was really informative and had lots of interesting information! Wine and lunch was pretty good, lunch was luke warm which was a little bit dissapointing on a cold day but otherwise a really good trip!

You can't visit Catania and not book a tour in mount Etna! It was such a great experience and really worth it. We started with trekking in Etna, visiting a lava tunnel and then we stopped at a traditional, cosy winery for lunch and wine tasting. In that tour we had Dario, our guide, who was a truly nice guy with good knowledge about nature and helped us a lot to understand many things about volcanoes. Good job! I recommend it one hundred percent.

This tour was beyond our expectations.
The vineyards were incredible, especially the first one Emilio’s.
We learned a lot with the presenters.
The tour guide, Andrea, was extremely knowledgeable, he answered all our questions in deepth.
His English fluency and vocabulary were great. The pick-up was perfectly on time, he was very polite and courteous.
At the end of our tour, after we were dropped off at the our Hotel, my son noticed he did not have his wallet.
We sent a message to the office through whatsapp and immediately they checked the van and Andrea, kindly drove back to our hotel with the wallet. What relief! Thanks for all the care and attention.
