        Passionate tour guide
Mainly wanted to give a five-star review for our tour guide Giovanni, who’s very passionate, knowledgeable and friendly — Learnt a lot about Mt Etna and Sicily from him! The tour itself was decent. It was a rainy day so we didn’t get any stunning views at the craters, but overall satisfied with the tour.

        The best tour experience
While it is easy just to say the hike was spectacular it was thanks to our guide Giovanni that made it a perfect day. In addition the staff at Etna Experience, especially Laura, provided an excellent pre tour experience by responding to questions quickly and ensuring we had all the relevant information about the tour. As someone who worked in protected areas management and dealt with visitor needs at our organization's sites I can say without hesitation that the team at Etna Experience are exceptional professionals who I would have no problem recommending to friends and family. I definitely would go on a tour with them again.

        Great tour, no volcano.
It was very nice but did NOT include exploring the volcano at all. The three wineries were good, two at the vineyard, one not. Giovani was very informative with great history of Catania. Very nice and good English. I recommend but not if you want to go to the volcano.

Reliable tour company with awesome guide
I enjoyed the tour very much. Marco was an exceptional guide. He's very knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic. He made the whole trip very insightful and interesting. One point to note is that I had a discussion of the various tour companies with my hostel dorm mates and a number of them had negative experience (last minute cancellation etc) with other companies. Etna Experience seems to be one of the more reliable ones. I deducted a point because I initially wanted to do the easy summit tour but was told there wasn't enough participants and I was asked to sign up for this Etna wine Alcantara tour instead while waiting to see if the summit tour becomes available. There was no update on that. Although this Etna wine Alcantara tour is perfectly fine and highly recommended if you want an easier day with more variety, what I really wanted is more hiking and less excursion. Perhaps the company can do more to allow people to choose the summit tour instead (wouldn't have minded paying a bit more for it).

You don’t visit Edna!! Only wine tour
This trip is NOT a trip to Etna. This was ONLY a wine tour near Etna. We did not do any tracking, visit caves or anything although it said so in the description. We were very disappointed. As we went home the next day we did not get to visit Edna. But a fine wine tour 🙃

        Excellent tour and guide
We had a great day of hiking and learning with Marco on the Easy Top Etna tour. He was prompt, fluent in English, friendly, very knowledgeable about the volcano, botony, & history of the region. I felt that he had a good sense of the individuals in our group and made sure everyone was sarisfied. The lunch provided was delicious! Everything was coordinated smoothly and we got to experience the beauty and majesty of Mamma Etna with a local. Highly recommend!

Etna + lunch + Taormina. Average tour that tries to fit too much and delivers none.
All in if you just want to fit a lot in one day, this is your tour. If you want to experience any of the items properly , Etna, Etna wines or Taormina, break the trip up. Transport: We got picked up from Catania in a van that clearly needs new suspension and missing inside panels. Made for an interesting drive. Etna: You go to a shallow cave and then you climb to 1700 metres approx on a couple of ash dunes/hills. . That’s a 2k round trip done at a very slow pace. You’ll see the best of Etna from afar and there is no chance to go any higher. Lunch: 30 sec explanation of a couple of glasses of wine, no explanation of the food which had only one warm piece of lasagna, rest was cold. No explanation how to pair it with the wine either. Taormina: With 2 hours you’ll be pushed to experience it properly. Felt a bit short changed. The guide Mirko was the best part of the trip, very happy, knowledgeable and chatty.

        Amazing hike
If you found this trek - just do it!!! It took me several attempts and searches to find this trek but so glad that I did. Giovanni was an amazing tour guide. His background is in biology specifically botany. He is so knowledgeable and gave us the appropriate amount of information. We all had different hiking abilities and yet we all felt well taken care of. The views we were fortunate enough to see were breathtaking and definitely pictures will never do it justice.

You really get your moneys worth!
This experience really gave me my moneys worth! Sweet and experienced guides with a lot of knowledge on the area. They were helpful and gave good recommendations and advice. Picked me up and delivered me right next to my air BnB. The route is visited by millions a year, and it shows, it’s really on the beaten track. If you want to see the basics, have a safe tour and get a wonderful lunch and wine on the way, this is for you! Also got to know new people, which was a plus for me as solo traveller. Highly recommended!

Mont Etna crater + Wine + Taormina
Mont Etna craters + Wine + Taormina Me and my wife loved the whole experience. Marco was the guide, born and raised in Catania. He explained about how life in Sicily and Mont Etna are related since the past, and how many benefits the Vulcan brings to this region. If you like geology/biology, definitely it is must to go. Beside Mont Etna, we visited the caves near by and finished the first part with wine tasting and some typical dishes for lunch. In the afternoon we went to the cost city call s Taormina for visiting the Greek Theater, but the city by itself worths the visit, quite cozy. I strong recommend to bring a big bottle of water, the sun and hot weather can be hard.

        A must experience!
This tour was beyond our expectations. The vineyards were incredible, especially the first one Emilio’s. We learned a lot with the presenters. The tour guide, Andrea, was extremely knowledgeable, he answered all our questions in deepth. His English fluency and vocabulary were great. The pick-up was perfectly on time, he was very polite and courteous. At the end of our tour, after we were dropped off at the our Hotel, my son noticed he did not have his wallet. We sent a message to the office through whatsapp and immediately they checked the van and Andrea, kindly drove back to our hotel with the wallet. What relief! Thanks for all the care and attention.

        A perfect day around Etna
The tour was perfectly organized! All stops made sense and completed each other in a meaningful narrative of Etna. Salvatore was the perfect guide; caring, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He made all the difference. Definitely recommended! 👏👏👏

        Lying straight to our faces
So this was not a good experience we didn't even end up booking with them tried booking a MT. ETNA SUMMIT STRONG TOUR, this was not possible, why? Well it wasn't possible because apparently you haven't been able to visit the summit of mount etna since February 2021st for safety reasons (at least that's what they told us in an email), this a very blatant lie and can easily be disproven by going on YouTube and watching one of the videos made in the time since then that do in fact go to the summit. Mind you i know you need a certified guide to reach the summit but this was never mentioned in the email. Here is the part of the email i am talking about: "Unfortunately, since February 2021it is not possible to reach the summit of Etna anymore because of safety reasons. Now, the maximum height reachable is 2950 meters." I also don't see why they have the option on their website to select this tour if it has been unavailable for 3 years. In the end i cannot recommend a company that will lie straight to the customers faces with such an obvious lie, one star.

        Highly recommended tour
We had the most amazing day with Andrea! Etna was spectacular and worth the pain I will felt in my legs the next day. Im not an experienced hiker and our guide was very patient with my slow ascent. The provision of hiking poles was a great help. Andrea has so much knowledge and he took the whole thing to another level with his insights. I am a plant lover and he was able to answer so many questions for me. The cave was scary but exciting. The gorge was amazing and the water invigorating to paddle in. Lunch at the Emilio Sciacca Etna winery was wonderful 😋 and the view from there was beautiful.

Great experience from booking to hiking
If you are planning to visit Etna, I highly recommend you book a tour with Etna Experience. Our experience with them was fantastic, from the efficient and courteous team in reservations to our knowledgeable guide Marco who spoke perfect English. We did the full day "easy" tour, took the 4x4 bus, the cable car, had lunch and then visited the Silvestri craters and a cave. Marco shared so much incredible information with us about Etna, volcanos, and indigenous plants - in perfect English - and you could feel how much he really cares about his customers and this precious part of Sicily.

We had an incredible morning experience with an amazing guide Janet. We were so lucky to be the only ones to have booked the experience and as a result we got such a personal and intimate tour. Janet was so knowledgable and passionate about Etna and she was eager to tell us many facts and answer all our questions. She was also very personable and great to chat to and we were happy to tell her all about our native Scotland! The tour started in Catania and we first visited a volcanic cave which was incredible and so interesting. We then went walking on the Etna volcano itself which was a once in a lifetime experience. The wine and snack element of the tour exceeded our expectations and we were very happy they catered to a vegetarian diet (which isn’t always guaranteed in Italy). All in all we couldn’t be happier with our experience and we will definitely recommend this company to anyone wanting an easy and insightful way to visit Etna! Thank you Janet 😊

This was definitely the highlight of our trip in Sicily. Ernesto is very friendly, speaks reasonably good English, knowledgable and comes prepared with shoes, jackets, headlights and gloves and other items that are definitely necessary for visiting Etna. He has very good knowledge of volcanology in general, and about Etna in particular and I learned much during the tour.

My friend and I were picked out in the morning from our airbnb by Ernesto on Christmas morning. After picking up another two travellers, we started the tour. First we saw basalt cliffs on the coast of Catania, caused by an ancient eruption thousands of years ago. We traveled upto the last town before Etna, Nicolosi where we enjoyed canoli and coffee. We then continued, first visiting a pitch black lava tube, with Ernesto explaining the formation process. It was quite fantastic.

We then continued the drive up to the volcano, the landscape consisting of black basalt rocks, trees and and mounds. We saw an ancient basalt quarry. As we drove up the slope we passed the snowline, and the combination of white snow and black ashen ground was beautiful. Finally we arrived near the peak, where we hiked to see some of the recent craters. It was very windy, so we had to turn back eventually, but what we saw was unforgettable. The main crater of Etna was closeby, with smoke emerging from it. Following the hike, we continued driving north to a side of Etna that is not visible from Catania, but is visible from Taormina. After driving through a forest and emerging at a cliff with a clear view of Etna's northern slope, we emerged and Ernesto explained the geological history of Etna. Etna has a somewhat horseshoe shape, with a hole in the middle. Hundreds of thousands of years ago a massive eruption destroyed the original mountain, leaving a cavity around which the modern Etna has formed. Thus Etna is really a baby volcano. We took nice photos and then drove back to Catania.

I absolutely recommend this tour if you visit Catania.

      Organized, available, competent.
Only two days in Catania but we wanted to go to Etna. We advised that we had to catch the plane in the late afternoon and they respected the timing to allow us the visit and return. Danilo, the guide, is truly competent: he managed to involve a very heterogeneous group (from the 14 year old girl - very happy - to the 70 year olds, foreigners and Italians).
The guided tour is really worth it because it made us appreciate and notice things that I certainly wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

We had booked the tour. We took the bus from Taormina to Catania and we were to meet the pickup bus at the railway station 8.55 am. Our bus got stuck in the traffic. We informed the Etna Experience that we are stuck in traffic. They told us no problem” not our fault. After sitting in the traffic so long we informed the company that “ go ahead without us” we so late. They said ok . But then the Etna Experience told that they must charge us “ a penalty fee” because of us being late and didn’t come on the tour. The penalty fee was the full amount of the cost for two people. 100% not even 50%. When question this 100% penalty fee but we got a voucher that’s valid for one year. As we are not returning from USA in another year, this voucher is useless.
This is very upsetting and needles to say not right.

Dear Kristel, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are very sorry for this unfortunate situation. We know that you warned us about the delay and we thank you for that, however please note that we waited for you until 9:30 A.M. (we can wait a maximum of 15 minutes, but we waited longer for you). Unfortunately, since you have booked a group tour and not a private one, we have to respect the standard program times and also the other customers who were waiting for you at the meeting point. Please also consider that we gave you an alternative, offering you to join our tour the day after your experience. We sent you several messages that day, as our priority was to give you the alternative of joining us tomorrow or on another day when you would be available (without any extra fee). And since we were waiting for your reply, we could not give availability to other customers who asked for the next day. Since you never replied to our offers, we followed our policy and charged the penalty fee for your no show. We fully understand and know that it is not your fault (nor ours, but we have to follow our penalty policy), which is why we have given you a voucher valid for 1 year. Furthermore, we would like to stress that all our customers (including you) are informed BEFORE booking of our booking and cancellation policy, which clearly states that we will charge 100% of the amount in case of cancellation 12 hours or more before the excursion and in case of NO SHOW. Immediately after issuing the voucher, we also sent you another email, stating that we were willing to extend the voucher by more than a year and that we would also apply special discounts in case you return to Sicily (it doesn't matter when, just show us the voucher and email). We tried to help you in every possible way: first by waiting for you for much longer than the acceptable 15-minute delay, then by offering you the chance to attend the tour the next day or another day, and finally, since you never gave us a reply, with the voucher. We do not think, therefore, that this review is fair. However, we accept your feedback and hope to see you soon on tour with us with the voucher we offered. We wish you all the best, Etna Experience Staff.

The drive and the views were beautiful. Lunch was a simple packed lunch with a bottle of wine shared among the passengers, which was very nice. However a seatbelt in the car was missing with the socket totally broken off, which left me anxious. Also we climbed higher than I expected (higher than the 2000m indicated in advance information) and the tour guide walked at a very fast pace. He basically just left me and my partner behind and then as soon as we caught up at halfway point moved on again. We weren’t going especially slowly and it was quite frustrating as he showed no interest in keeping the group together. I just got the impression he’d done the whole tour a lot this summer and was a bit fed up.

The trip to low Etna at 2000m was a really pleasant experience. The guide, Paolo, is not only very educated on the topic but can also be very entertaining and create a good atmosphere during the tour. The walking was definitely suited to beginners like ourselves as well. Overall, Even without having a passion for volcanoes or geology, the tour with Paolo was without a doubt very interesting and I would definitely recommend/come back a second time.

We took Etna morning tour and it was an excellent experience for our family! Special thanks to our guide Orazio - knowledgeable, experienced, motivated to explain geological and historical facts, flexible and sensitive to the needs of certain group, very kind. We usually do sight seeing on our own but for Etna we advise you to take guided tour by Etna experience. Without explanation Etna might look only as black desert.

Great experience! The tour guide (Danilo) was informative and kept the walk along the craters accessible and interesting. The company also equips you with hiking boots and a warm coat if you don’t have your own (I wasn’t expecting snow so was glad of this!). The best part of booking with this company is the helpful and professional staff they had. My initial booking had to be cancelled due to bad weather and the staff (Laura, Helena) were great at helping me book another experience. They also arranged for me to get a different pickup and drop off location. I’m so happy with my adventure!

Nice and feasible walk up on the Etna. Very nice views. The guide spoke good English and gave nice explanations about the fauna and flora on the Etna and some nice stories about the Etna and the history of the eruptions.
We hiked on Mount Etna and the Silvestre Crater. We received hiking sticks. We also visited a lava cave for which we received a helmet.
