About
Spend a day in Veneto’s glorious Valpolicella region, and discover its history, wine and the romantic city of Verona. Led by a friendly driver-guide, the tour visits the Church of San Giorgio with its intriguing 8th-century altar as well as a winery nestled into the Valpolicella valley. Learn about the region’s winemaking heritage, sample a selection of robust amarone wine, and then enjoy three hours of free time in Verona, the city that inspired William Shakespeare’s 'Romeo and Juliet.' Numbers are limited to eight on this small-group tour, ensuring personalized attention from a driver-guide.

What to expect
  • An easy drive from Venice, the Valpolicella region makes for a fantastic day trip filled with scenic vineyards, rolling hills and medieval history. Meet your driver-guide at Piazzale Roma just outside of central Venice, and hop aboard an air-conditioned minivan for the approximately 1.5-hour journey west. For your first stop, visit the town of San Giorgio and its famous medieval church. Marvel at the 8th-century canopy stone altar, which predates the outer church by almost 500 years. While you’re here, soak in beautiful views of the nearby Lake Garda and the town of Sirmione. Continue on through the scenic countryside of olive groves and vineyards to one of the area’s renowned wineries. Take a tour of the estate and taste several distinctive amarone wines, known for their dry and slightly bitter taste that results from using dried grapes in the fermentation process.  Head next to Verona — best known as the home of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers in ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ You’ll have 3 hours of leisure time to explore the city’s well-preserved historic charm and stop in at a local café for lunch (own expense). You can pay a visit to ‘Casa di Giulietta,’ which some say inspired the fictional Capulet family, and swoon at the site of Juliet’s balcony (though any historical ties here are dubious).  Reconnect with your driver-guide at the appointed time, and then sit back and relax on the beautiful return drive to Venice.

Great day tour from Venice
Sep. 2019
Enjoyed the day tour from Venice. Verona is almost as crowded but was a pretty city with good sites and lots of shopping potential. We also stopped in Soave which was a lovely village and a surprising stop. The tour of Valpolicella winery was superb. The local tour guide was very informative and she spoke clearly and with great passion and knowledge. Wines of course were lovely.
The driver had a clean and comfortable vehicle for the five of us. He tended to speak only to the front passengers but was always pleasant and answered out questions. I would recommend this tour.

A Wonderful Day Trip!
Jun. 2019 • Friends
Everything about this day trip was excellent! Especially our tour guide, Simone!! He was not only knowledgeable but highly entertaining and friendly! He was very gracious and patient when our tour group was a little behind schedule due to wandering and enjoying the scenery a little too long at Soave! It was such a nice place to stop along the way to the winery. He also made another stop along the way for us to get a view and walk along Lake Garda. It was so beautiful! The winery tour and tasting was a new experience for me-I loved it! Verona was interesting and the coliseum was amazing! My sister and I were staying in Venice for the week, and I am so thankful that we booked this tour! It was high on our list of "favorites" for the week!

A great time with Simone! Very informative relaxing fun all-around great trip! Highly recommend.
A great wine tour - be sure to ask for extra samples; including prosecco. When in Verona have a lovely lunch but be sure to take in as much as possible before you must leave.

Horrible Communication
Aug. 2018 • Family
My daughter and I booked this tour the night before, we were up early and were at the meeting point 10 minutes early. We stood around for a half hour thinking our guide must be late - tried calling but they weren't open until 9AM. We were in the correct departing point, found no-one from the tour - when we finally got in touch with the office 45 minutes later, they said the tour had departed without us and we could not get a refund as we didn't cancel 24 hours earlier. We booked it 10 hours before!!!! They had our information and could have called or emailed to see where we were, but there was absolutely no communication to us. Horrible, terrible customer service. We now will have to work with our credit card company to dispute the charges. DO NOT use this tour company. Very disappointing.

Dear Lisa, we are sorry for your disappointment but we do know that you where not at the meeting point at the fixed time, that's why you missed the tour. We have a customer dedicated contact number available from 8 am to 8 pm. We have been contacted only after 9 o'clock, when the tour was already departed. For late arrivals there's no refund. Hoping you will understand this Kind Regards Venice Events.
