About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 55147890 contributionsVenice vacaGondola rides are 90 euros per 30 minutes and you don’t get the full 30 min. More like 20min, Outrageous. Be ware don’t do the rides that are on open water, not very enjoyable and can very choppy waters. Do the once inside the canals that are more smooth sailing and more enjoyable. It’s also cash only.Written 13 September 2024
- Glloydart0 contributionsNot enough time. Take the full day tour if you can!The islands themselves are great. I’d like to go back if I can ever make another trip to Venice. This tour was just not enough time to really enjoy any one of the three. I would’ve enjoyed the tour itself more if the I had been able to hear more of what the guide was saying. I got bits and pieces, which made me want to learn more on my own, but the engine of the boat was loud and so were some of the children a few rows back… that happens, I understand. If you are there in Venice for several days and want to get an idea of the islands so you can decide if or where you’d like to spend more time shopping, learning, and experiencing, this would be a good tour for you. But if this is your one shot to see, shop, learn, and experience these interesting islands, take a full day tour, not a half day. It’s just too short.Written 13 September 2024
- vivianf7090 contributionsDissatisfied! We booked for a half an hour ride but it was only about 15 minutes! Very disappointing! The part of the grand canal was maybe around 5 minutes even though the advertisement made it sound as if it were more time on the grand canal!!Written 8 September 2024
- amersajed0 contributionsMurano BuranoThe tour was good. Nothing super spectacular to warrant a 5* but definitely 4*. Torcello was the best. Murano was all about buying their glassware (which we did) and Burano was pretty.Written 8 September 2024
- D7921JWangier0 contributionsThe BEST Gondolier in Venice!Ricky was a gondalier was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely informative and was eager to answer our questions. The other gondoliers should take a lesson from Ricky. We actually had other gondolas go buy and the people were listing to our guide! 99% of the guides we passed were not speaking at all to their riders!Written 8 September 2024
- scottbS4352YG0 contributionsPleasant afternoon experienceThis was a great trip experiencing some of the smaller islands near Venice. The boat ride was short and comfortable with pick up and drop made simple. The tour was in multiple languages including English which was good. The town of Burano is amazing with colourful buildings and plenty of food options. The glass blowing show was good to see also. Consider this trip on your holiday to Venice.Written 7 September 2024
- Quest029297371180 contributionsGoodMurano was good and also the glass factory, we bought two Murano glass bottles, the visit was short we had a short walk, it was hotWritten 1 September 2024
- 1968MW0 contributionsThe word “tour” should be taken with a grain of saltStrictly for going to the islands and exploring on your own. Audio on the boat is impossible to hear and there are not enough seats to accomodate everyone on the tour. Better options might be buying the tickets separately to each island as the word tour is sort of a misnomer. The islands themselves are beautiful though and worth exploringWritten 31 August 2024
- nickbL4775LR0 contributionsCouldn’t care less about guestsLeft us at murano while we walked towards boat. We were a total of 1 min late and the walk towards the boat was the minute. Saw us coming and literally ignored us and just left us stranded at island. No head count. Just churn and burn tour terrible. Better off catching ferry on your own to each location and taking your time at each location which we ended up doing and was greatWritten 29 August 2024
- CTBChristinaTBlaney0 contributionsGet a taste of 3 islandsWe absolutely loved this short and sweet tour of the islands. Nice to get out of Venice and out on the water. Liked the glass blowing demo and bought some jewellery, had a lovely wander in Burano. Was a really lovely morning. Getting tickets and finding out where you need to be to board was so confusing so it was a relief when a tour guide got in at San Marco as we got on at the first stop. There was plenty of space on the boat but no air con so bring a fan! Loads of reviews say it is rushed but really what do people expect for a half a day tour? It’s great to get a taste of a place and maybe visit for longer another day of your trip. It’s great value for money and worth bookingWritten 23 August 2024
- suzannebA2915ZI0 contributionsBoat Tours are Unique ExperiencesThe highlight of this trip was Burano. All of the different color houses were amazing! It’s a really cute small town. The glass blowing demonstration on Murano was also really cool. It’s Trocello was very small, with a beautiful, old church. The walk to the church and back is pretty much all you will see. For the price, this trip was well worth it. You got a taste of each island and a live commentator who spoke in 3 different languages. The ferry to get there isn’t that much cheaper and as we saw them on our journeys, they were very crowded! As you are traveling on the water, you also get different views of Venice, especially of St. Mark’s. If you are interested in a bit of a rest from all the canal and bridge walking, this is a nice alternative.Written 22 August 2024
- Natalie B0 contributionsGreat day outVery informative boat trip, island hopping and getting to know some more history. The glass blowing was cool. Definitely worth the trip!Written 17 August 2024
- isqu0 contributionsRushed experience but decent value for moneyPros: this was a great way to see several islands and it is really fun to get outside of the centre of Venice and explore; it's a good price; we did learn a few things from the tour guide; glass blowing demo was interesting Cons: so rushed, only had around 45 minutes on each island which is barely enough time to walk around and get a drink, definitely couldn't get any food or relax; tour guide gave some pretty basic info and you tuned out after a while; boats are very crowded and uncomfortable, especially in 34° heat as the seats are tiny. Probably better off coordinating a trip to the islands yourself using the water bus and making a full day of it.Written 15 August 2024
- Sunil N0 contributionsGuest support is minimum from crew .On the last stop of Torcello , my autistic child had to go to toilet last minute and we were told to get back to deck by 5:50pm and we rushed and got there in time but few seconds late and we shouted and called and clapped hands . The boat was just pulling back and reversing and they saw us but still sailed away and had to take two other boats with kids to get back to Venice station . Not very considerate or keep attendance of guest on board . If it was few minutes late or if we haven’t seen them leave then we could have accepted we were late . Will leave a review on trust pilot and share our experiance . We didn’t know Italian and struggled to get back .Written 14 August 2024
- mlv_belfast0 contributionsRush rush rushVery rushed at all stops. Not enough time to explore any islands. I would not recommend. We had no time to explore Murano, Burano or Torcello.Written 14 August 2024

This tour was excellent. We started where we collected the tickets earlier in the day and were provided with individual speakers and earphones.
The guide was excellent and the tour was at a great pace too .
On the tour were 20 plus people and inadvertently we had booked it on Italian independence day and St Marks day ...so it was extremely busy.
We wound our way through the streets and leant a great deal about why the areas were named such .
The gondola ride at the end was for Max 5 people and was for 30 minutes starting on the Grand Canal and passing through some back canals too.
Highly recommend this tour

This is an excellent tour. Andrea, our guide, was very knowledgeable, with an appropriate sense of humour. He went at a leisurely pace which allowed older people in the group to keep up. Having done many walking tours in other places I would recommend this one. We could clearly hear what Andrea said through the headset and he stopped at open areas which prevented us getting in everyone’s way and gave people the chance to see his pictures.
The gondola ride at the end was a perfect end to the tour.
I don’t agree with the comments about finding the meeting point being difficult to find as the instructions were very clear.

I booked this tour as an introduction to Venice, its geography & history. It was without doubt, one of the worst tours I have ever booked.
The guide was like a robot, leading us, a party of 30, through ever narrower streets. The sound equipment, through which we were supposed to hear her speak, was abysmal & most of the time did not work, this combined with the guide herself, who had a very odd speaking voice, meant that my friend, for whom English is not her first language, could understand nothing & gave up.
I could just about understand, via this appalling equipment, but she told us almost nothing of any interest-in fact, afterwards, neither of us could remember anything she said.
Eventually, she cared so little for the group & our wellbeing, that she actually lost some of us & made no attempt to try to find us, leaving us in area with which we were completely unfamiliar.
We did manage to find our way back to the meeting place, where the guide had disappeared & then had to wait for about 45 minutes for the gondolas. These were the tattiest gondolas we saw all week, with gondoliers, once again, going through the motions. They did not speak to us at all, only to each other, making the experience very disappointing.
This tour may appear to be reasonably priced-but actually our experience was that it was a complete waste of money.

Had a great time, the guide was really informative and spoke english very well. I believe her name was eleanora (spelling may be off) and we really enjoyed her leading us around for the 2 hour tour.
The gondola ride was really good, no interaction with the gentleman who was propelling us and we shared the gondola with another couple as it is not a private ride but that didn't bother us. What was a bit rubbish was the que for the ride as all the group and any other tour group at the same time will get taken at the same time for a ride and will then que altogether. We waited half hour in the que which was longer than the gondola ride.

the guided tour was far overbooked so the group left 15 min later than set and it was realy hard to hear her. when goin when going around corners in the narrow streets of venice the rasdio contact between the guide microphone and trasminter to the group's earset was broken and got disconnected. the guide had very little information to share (when heard). did not get any "new" information from the guide and the information transmitted was poorly explained.

I will start with good stuff. The tour guide was really nice, he was happy to answer all questions, well prepared and introduced us to the interesting elements of venetian architecture and brief history of the city. The gondola ride was really peaceful and picturesque.
Now, the minuses. The location where we should gather was really confusing. There were at least two locations that were fitting the description - Alilaguna ticket office in front of royal gardens and alilaguna ticket office near Riva Degli Schiavoni St. Marco stop. We tried to contact Bucintoro Viaggi by phone 1,5 hour before our meeting to figure it out, but noone was answering the phone. We had only 50 minutes to get to the right place so this information was essential. Thankfully I assumed right and got to the right place somwhere about 15 minutes before the meeting. There was no guide waiting for us , no signs of the company or anything else when we arrived at the place. When I started asking around, I was first directed to the wrong ticket office (there are two - the one on the right wasnt selling tickets for this tour). After waiting in another line and begging people if we can come in, we managed to get a ticket and listening device one minute before planned departure. I was informed by the cashier to go to the right, than left, and just around the corner there should be our guide. We and couple other confused passengers did that but there was noone in sight. Than I started asking everybody as we were already late and we didnt know if the guide left without us. I saw a guy talking to the cashier that didnt have any visible description or sign if he is the guide. He said that he is but perhaps I should go to another guy who is waiting outside around the corner , just preparing to leave with the group. On verge of crying I had to run there just to hear that he isnt the guide for us and that actually first guide is our guy. At this point I figured he will not be leaving and that we managed to get on the tour. When we were walking with our group we encountered another two poor people who had bought tickets for our tour but were waiting in the other place. They didnt manage to join us on time. It was quite a logistical nightmare and stress I would prefer to avoid during vacation. Some small changes could easily fix it. I hope Bucintoro Viaggi will learn from that review and improve in future as they have really good guides. I will add it was my honeymoon, we are not rich and it was our only shot to get to know Venice during this trip, which was my wifes lifelong dream.

Honestly not my best decision to book this tour at 3pm and prior to that walk miles shopping and sightseeing. But that’s what I did— so by the time the tour came up we were hot, sweaty and had tired feet already— I was maybe not so secretively wishing the gondola ride came first, but it didn’t. Our guide was good, it’s just unfortunate that it was so hot, crowded and sticky in the square and around gondolas— the ear pieces worked great so you could hang back in the crowd a little and still hear very well. I really loved hearing about the city’s architectural history (snail tour, water barriers, fresh water accumulation, how the city was built, gondolas etc) and less about who conquered this or that— even though it is important in how Venice came to be. The gondola ride was a family highlight! We throughly have enjoyed it— what a treat!!

Great walking tour. The guide was very knowledge and very VERY funny. It felt more like a comedy tour at times! He said how hard rock cafe was the best local cuisine you could find. Totally cracked me up! Gondola tour was ok-ish, a bit slow for me. But walking tour is definitely recommend. Short and sweet (and funny!!).

Dear Keir L,
We thank you very much for this great review!
We are happy to know that our walking guided tour & gondola ride has fully met your expectations.
We recommend this tour especially for those who do not have much time to visit the city: in fact, in a few hours it is possible to explore the most authentic side Venice with our walking tour and the more traditional one with the classic gondola ride. A 360 ° experience in the heart of Venice.
Thank you for choosing Bucintoro Viaggi!
Best regards,

Wonderful tour! An excellent introduction to beautiful Venice, with it’s narrow pathways and many bridges. A city steeped in history our tour guide Chiara was extremely knowledgeable on our 2.5 hour tour. Lucky for us we were a party of two which felt like a private adventure. Highly recommend!

Fantastic introduction to Venice for your first day or if your visit is short. Our tour guide Andrea was a very proud native Venetian who clearly loved his job of educating us tourists about the history and magnificence of the city. We were intrigued from start to finish. The gondola ride was pretty but a lot of traffic, felt more like a Disney ride. Very cool none the less. We purposely came in the off season (late November) and it was somehow still busy and crowded, can't imagine July. Gorgeous city, amazing tour, well worth the fee. Highly recommended!

The walking tour and gondola ride took about 2 hours - it depends on the length of the queue for the gondola though. You'll be on the gondola with approximately 5 other people, so it isn't a private ride.
