      Wonderful once schedule fixed
A great experience, with Luigi’s brother and nephew, Luca, running the event due to a scheduling error that meant the chef could not attend. Roberto and Luca were wonderful, gracious hosts. The stovetop cheese making was done at Roberto’s home as we sampled a number of cheeses and wine pairings as he explained the cheese-making process. Then we continued with a full cheese and meat board & wine as he shielded us how to make rossori, which we then enjoyed for lunch. Oh, and his home was atop a hill overlooking Lake Como…wow. Check dates and the agenda carefully given our experience and other reviews, but we had a great time.

      Wonderful experience
The wines were delicious and Luigi was very entertaining! The tasting room was so beautiful and unique. We stayed for dinner after our tasting and had the most wonderful meal.

Hidden Gem - Unmatched in the Area
Jarocho is on the KANSAS side of the state line in Kansas City. It's at 719 Kansas Ave,, Kansas City, KANSAS. It's a Mexican Seafood restaurant just off I-70. The food is award-winning (Best Seafood, Best Mexican) and the service is outstanding. The dishes are based on what you would find in Veracruz, Mexico. I had Ceviche and a dozen oysters on the half-shell. My daughter had a delicious shrimp soup, and our friend had very tasty stuffed trout. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and the culture and history of Veracruz. We were very pleased; we'll certainly go back!

Over priced and low on experience
This experience is nothing like its represented. The cheese tasting involved stopping at a local cheese shoo see the cheese but you don't actually taste any. The class is a rushed, simp!e execution of some pasta with very little of the chefs time. He is a character and amusing at first but then quite irritating. The salad served at lunch as well as the wine were the highlight. Do not spend your money on this.

      Be in a larger group
With Luigi focused on a couple that was planning they're wedding we were left forgotten and the rest of the staff didn't really know what do do with us. All round, seeing that is was the off season and we where the only people registered for the class and the chef being busy with other things, the right thing would have been to cancel. Not terrible as the food was good but the experience was rushed and not worth the money paid.

We learned a lot about truffles, the region and Chef Luigi's accomplishments. A super excursion, well worth it.
Amazing to harvest truffles and mushrooms on the property of the restaurant. Golden retrievers to sniff out the location of truffles, then Roberto (chef Luigi did not join us in person) dug the truffle up. The dogs found several; enough for our cooking class. Steep walk on slippery leaves, not for the faint at heart but totally worth it. We were in a group of 8 although we expected to be just the two of us, as the tour was labeled private. Departure point NOT at the car ferry as mentioned on website, but from the next ferry over on the square. The cooking class was a lot of fun and the 4 course luncheon was great, with ample red wine. Chef Luigi is very talented and was making jokes while explaining what we had to do in his kitchen. The servers were well trained and very polite. Totally worth it; my comments are just to help you set expectations.

A unique experience.. incredible place and atmosphere 😍
We were so excited to see Chef Gandola.👌We tasted excellent wines and with an excellent selected menu to properly taste the taste of each wine from different years and vintages..The cellar, the restaurant and the people who took care of us were great and the whole team it works great..it is worth visiting this family gem and trying all the authentic things there..My son loves to cook and so At my request we were seated in front of the glass showcases of the kitchen at a special table from which we could personally observe how prepares the truly unique menu here..Words cannot describe this experience and I highly recommend you go and see for yourself. I'm sorry we didn't have time to enroll in Chef Gandola's cooking class to learn the secret of cooking Italian cuisine from the best at it. I hope we can visit the restaurant again and immerse ourselves in the magic of this place. 🌹🥇🙏🍷🤩👌

Awful communication, terrible experience, AVOID at all costs.
My husband and I booked the truffle hunting with Luigi Gandola, and the entire experience was a huge disappointment. Leading up to the event, Luigi had very poor communication and took weeks to respond to messages. We had to send him 3-4 messages before getting a response. Our event was supposed to start at 10AM. On the day of the event at 9AM, he messaged us, "Are you available at 3PM instead?" and we said no, since we had other plans. He then said "I can only do 3PM. See you at 3PM." We had to involve Tripadvisor customer support to get a refund, since we weren't able to make the time and he was refusing to refund us. It's clear that Luigi overextends himself, double books, and is very bad at managing his own schedule. I would stay away from this experience and the restaurant.

      Best Bellagio Restaurant
Best restaurant in Bellagio. A must visit whilst you’re there. The chef is fantastic, his food is lovely and he knows an endless amount about Italian wine to pair.

      Fantastic authentic restaurant and cellar
Great experience. Luigi has a fantastic restaurant and wine cellar as the setting for a fantastic wine tasting experience. He took the time to make it really personable. The food included in the tasting complemented the wines brilliantly and we stayed for dinner after which was by a long way the best we had in our stay at Bellagio and lake Como.

      Amazing time!
Exceptional time with Luigi. His family has run this restaurant for 50 years. He conveniently picked us up in Bellagio and drove us 5 minutes up the hill to the restaurant. The wine tasting in the cellar was great and educational. And we highly recommend staying for dinner afterwards. Best risotto we’ve ever had and fantastic experience in the restaurant with Luigi and his family. Can’t recommend enough!!

An amazing time with Chef Luigi
We had a great time with Chef Luigi, his knowledge of Italian wines was very impressive! He has over 15k bottles of wine in his cellar where we enjoyed the wine tasting with great appetizers. Not only is he a sommelier but also a chef which made the pairings delicious. Absolutely would recommend his tasting. We stayed in Bellagio, Fabrizio who works with the Chef came to pick us up & drop us off.

      Great food, wine and family
Chef Luigi went out of his way to accommodate our wine tasting in spite of us running late. We had the pleasure of witnessing him, his wife, mom and family cook together. He is a true wine connoisseur, and the food pairing was awesome. His cellar is incredible and we really enjoyed our time with him and his wife. Highly recommend this experience!!

Our class with Chef Luigi was what we were looking forward to the most in our 3 days in Bellagio and it did not disappoint! The time started with the chef and his assistant picking us up at our hotel in town. On the way back to the restaurant stopped by the local cheese market where Chef Luigi gave our class a tour, described the cheese making process and sampled various cheeses/dairy products. After grabbing products for our class, we headed to his restaurant and got a quick tour of his beautiful herb garden. We then spent the next hour or so cooking in the kitchen under the chefs guidance. After we were done cooking we went downstairs to have a quick drink in his beautiful wine cellar and then spent the rest of the time on the restaurant patio enjoying our food. Several of us from our class had such a great time that we spent the next couple of hours drinking and chatting. Every time we ordered a new bottle, the chef was kind enough to come over and have a quick drink and chat for minute with us.

All in all, a great experience and a memory my wife and I will not forget. I absolutely loved the mix of helpful tutelage and quick jokes you get with Chef Luigi. His personality is like no one else you will meet, and I loved it! The next time we visit, we will be returning to Ristorante Salice Blu for sure!

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of taking a cooking class with Chef Luigi during our trip to Lake Como in September 2023, and we couldn’t wait any longer to share how fantastic the experience was! Although this review is long overdue, we wanted to make sure Chef Luigi received the praise he truly deserves.

From the moment we walked into his restaurant, Chef Luigi made us feel right at home. His charisma and energy set the tone for the entire class, and he created a warm, fun, and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you were an experienced cook or a beginner in the kitchen, Chef Luigi made sure that everyone felt included and engaged. His teaching style was both informative and interactive, ensuring that we learned not only the techniques behind making fresh pasta but also the secrets to creating dishes that are staples of Italian cuisine.

The highlight of the class was undoubtedly making our own noodles. Chef Luigi took us step by step through the process, from mixing the dough to rolling it out and shaping it into perfect strands. He was patient, approachable, and offered helpful tips throughout, which made it easy to follow along and feel confident in our abilities. The best part was getting to enjoy the fruits of our labor at the end of the class – the pasta was absolutely delicious, and we couldn’t believe we had made it ourselves!

Beyond the cooking, the atmosphere Chef Luigi fostered was truly special. He made sure everyone felt comfortable, whether it was encouraging a beginner or sharing a laugh with seasoned cooks. It felt less like a class and more like a delightful experience with friends. We especially appreciated how Chef took the time to explain not just the “how,” but the “why” behind each step, giving us a deeper understanding of Italian cooking traditions.

This experience was a highlight of our time in Lake Como, and we left Chef Luigi’s restaurant not only with full stomachs but with a newfound appreciation for Italian cooking. If you’re looking for a fun, interactive, and unforgettable culinary adventure, we highly recommend taking a cooking class with Chef Luigi. You’ll walk away with amazing skills, great memories, and the chance to learn from one of the best chefs in the region.

Thank you, Chef Luigi, for such a memorable experience! We hope to return one day to cook with you again!

Cooking with Luigi was an amazing way to spend our 40th wedding anniversary! Luigi gave us a quick tour of his property and garden, helping us understand the legacy of the restaurant and his dreams for the future. He is a talented and ambitious young man and we have only good thoughts about his realizing his dreams. This was as much a cultural experience as it was good fun! At the end we all got certificates and a cooking grade. My grade of B+ was very generous as I am lucky to boil pasta correctly. Thank you, Luigi, for making our 40th very special.

My girlfriend and I were so excited for our class with Chef Luigi given the rave reviews his classes generally receive. The class description promised a trip to a local market, multi hour cooking class, and samples of local wines and cheeses. But the class was NOT as advertised. We were extremely disappointed with the entire experience. Here are a few of the frustrating issues that made the class such a bust:

To start, our class time was abruptly changed on us at the last minute with no reason given. When we arrived, we were shuffled around from room to room and given no direction. The staff were busily preparing food (for customers with dinner reservations, not us) and we were clearly in their way, which was awkward.

When Chef Luigi finally got around to us, we were rushed through the cooking process. We watched him hurriedly mix ingredients and speed through explanations of what he was doing. We were repeatedly left alone as he frantically moved about the kitchen helping his staff prep dinner for other guests.

Ultimately, we were shuffled out to a table so we could eat the pizza Chef Luigi had prepped. It was terrible. Our food had clearly been rushed through the busy kitchen. As the night wore on, it became clear to me that we were being more or less ignored so that the staff could tend to the regular dinner crowd. That is particularly infuriating given my girlfriend and I paid ~100 Euro each for the course. We raised our concerns with Chef Luigi - but after a fruitless back and forth, we ultimately decided to just get up and leave.

I am shocked our experience seems to be so unique among Trip Advisor reviewers. Maybe it was a particularly stressful night for the restaurant or perhaps there were some other specific circumstances that affected the staff's attitude toward us that night. Nonetheless the level of service we received was unacceptable.

Not only was I able to experience a one on one cooking class, the experience was run in a functioning commercial kitchen of a family owned restaurant. Chef Luigi's family has owned and run their beautiful restaurant for 50 years. The class was informative, fun, insightful, and delicious!

We had such a great time! Chef picked us up at our hotel and gave us a quick tour of the cheese shop before heading to the restaurant to make fresh pasta. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and Chef Luigi is 100% delightful. The meal was fantastic! One of the best experiences of our trip.

Me and my 6 friends signed up for the pizza class at Salice Blu and it was a COMPLETE SCAM. We signed up on the website where it had every time slot available, so we picked the most convenient time for us, which was 6:30. We also paid extra (25 Euro per person more) to start the class at the market picking out fresh ingredients. We received an email 2 days before the tour that our time had been changed from 6:30 to 4pm, which did not work for our schedule. When we called to ask why/let them know this time didn't work they said ok no problem we'll do it at 6:30 and pick you up in Bellagio at 6:15.

They were 20 minutes late to pick up. When we got to the restaurant, they didn't know what to do with us. We stood in the middle of the restaurant while the kitchen staff sat down for their pre-shift meal and no one had any direction for us. Finally Chef Luigi came up and brought us into their kitchen, the same one being used to cook dinner for the guests coming in. Needless to say, other than being unsanitary and bizzare, it was crowded and NOT fit for a "cooking class." Also, we didn't go to the market and no one said anything about it. Luigi, who was clearly flustered doing 100 things at once (answering the phone, preparing dinner for the evening, and "instructing" a class) started quickly spewing out ingredients that he was throwing into a bowl (so fast we couldn't even follow) and then went to mix it in the mixer. He brought it back and had us roll out the dough. He was hardly telling us what to do and kept walking away. He came back for 5 minutes and told us to put the sauce and cheese on. He also had us roll out "baguettes" with pre-made dough and told us we'd be getting/tasting focaccia and "bread sticks." The website description also mentioned we would be getting tastings of local cheese which did not happen. He gave us all one glass of wine and when we asked for more he said "beer only."

Without finishing the pizzas or giving really any explanation he rushed us out to sit down to start eating. We were SO confused. After a few minutes the staff came out with our pizza which was hardly cooked. When we said something they said "this is what italian pizza is like!" It was truly disgusting - and we never got any of the other food promised.

When we complained about all of the above, they were very defensive and said the reason we did not go to the market was because we didnt come at 4pm (which they did not tell us would happen when we called). Ultimately, they did give us back the extra 25pp for the market, but were unapologetic and not accommodating on the other complaints. They happily shoved us out the door and we left starving, pissed off, and still paid 80 euros for a bizarre, rushed, unprofessional experience and half cooked pizza.

Ultimately, poor experience I don't understand the operation this place is trying to run.

This experience with Luigi and the team was the do not miss of our trip to Bellagio. Something we will be talking about for years to come and recommending to anyone who is heading to Como as a must do. We did the mushroom and truffle hunt followed by a cooking class that ended with the most amazing meal we had throughout the whole trip. Luigi thank you again, you are truly Bellagio’s Renaissance man and we can’t wait to visit next time we’re back!

Agin like another one star review, they cancelled on us the day before on the day they took our payment and scheduled the class!!!! And have kept my payment even still today almost 24 hours later! Understandable if it was emergency but the explanation was “not available must cancel and will refund.” Canceling the day before either because you can’t count or you just don’t want to cook today is not acceptable. Now we cannot book another as it is too late and you have not refunded my payment. If I cancelled for any reason this close, you would not have refunded me. Per usual and always, Caveat Emptor! Buyer Beware!!!
