About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jean-luc A0 contributionsGreat food tourOur guide Sara was wonderful and very thoughtful. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in our group of 8 was comfortable and having a good time. She also went out her way for food restrictions and ensuring those with special dietary requirements felt included. The food was delicious and plentiful so come hungry! Thanks for a great time and experience.Written 25 December 2019
- GottaTravelNow110 contributionsSarah Fed us WellToday a group of 12 shared a food walking tour guided by Sarah. Our group included folks from Chicago Ill, Midland On, Tiny On, North Bay On & Ottawa On. We had an awesome time. We all left very full. Sarah speaks excellent English and was a complete delight to explore with. On one occasion she even gave her Mother a call to provide us with some additional information. The exciting part for our group of 5 was finding the meeting point. Sarah was contacted by phone and she guided us to her location. Definitely an excellent adventure.Written 2 October 2019
- francesca8320160 contributionsExcellent food and excellent companyI would thoroughly recommend the food tour of La Spezia. Sara was an excellent guide - talking us through the history of La Spezia as well as explaining how the food we ate was prepared. Come with a big appetite - there is so much food provided!! We went to 5 different restaurants to eat - from a pizzeria to eat traditional Farinata to sitting on the Marina eating Fritto Misto (an assortment of fried fish and shellfish). From the moment we met Sara she felt like a friend and was so enthusiastic about La Spezia and wider Liguria. A must if you're interested in food culture!Written 13 September 2019
- jerryk5220 contributionsExcellent food tourWe thoroughly enjoyed our food tasting tour with Sara! Sara is an incredibly knowledgeable and wonderful tour guide and we recommend her without hesitation. Also, the food was delicious and plentiful.Written 9 August 2019
- Pandyy960 contributionsDo it better food tour with SaraThe tour with Sara was really special. Both of us shared our personal stories regarding culture, food, music and language. The food portion is very generous and you will get to eat where the locals dine. You would learn about the history of la spezia and the culture through Sara's food tour within 3.5 hrs! Your time spent with her would be worth it!Written 31 March 2019
- Sofia H0 contributionsDo eat better La SpeziaA great experience with an amazing guide, I definitivt recommend everyone to take this tour in order to get an authentic food experience from La Spezia!Written 25 December 2018
- FSVET0 contributionsGreat experience. Wonderful guide! Our group was a friendly mix of couples from Canada, Bulgaria, and the U.S. We were escorted by lovely Sara who shared insights and facts about the town and area while we walked from one dining venue to the next. The conversation was relaxed and informative. The food was good and most likely items we would not have otherwise tried (except for the gelato).Highly recommend this experience!Written 21 September 2018
- Tom W0 contributionsAn absolute must-do experience!First off, this experience was incredible—not only for the delicious (and abundant) food, but also for the ability to learn about the city of La Spezia and local Italian life and customs. Also, You will NOT leave hungry. Seriously. The selection of food was diverse and we ate dishes we would not have previously even known to order. But we were glad we did! The core of the experience really comes down to the person guiding the tour and our guide Sara was a rockstar! She is very, very knowledgeable (she grew up in La Spezia and speaks great English) and is really down-to-earth and made the experience really fun. We’re from the States and this was our first trip to Italy. Whike we were enjoying the food, we were able to have a lot of fun conversation and discussion about the area and really enjoyed being able to ask about local customs and other tourist-y things (i.e. visitor do’s and dont’s we were too afraid to ask other locals). Sara’s insight was beyond beneficial and made us wish we would have done this tour first before doing any of our other sightseeing. And I’m still full thinking of all the food haha. Don’t miss this tour!Written 20 August 2018
- Beth S0 contributionsLovely eating tour of La SpeziaOur local guide Sara knew the cuisine and the culture of her home town and gave us a real taste of La Spezia in five courses over 3 hours. She was quite fluent in English and took an interest in the members of the tour. We were given preferential treatment at each restaurant and the walk through the town was full off history snippets. Thanks Sara.Written 14 July 2018
- Irmi K0 contributions4 days holiday in Cunque Terre .We stayed in La Spezia and booked the Tour Do eat better . Our tour guide was Sara . She was excellent and taken us on a wonderful experience to 5 different places to try local food and wine . We discovered the beautiful town walking and chatiing to her from one place to the next . The food was simple and just delicious . On top of that Sara told us many things about the area and gave us very helpful informations . We really enjoyed her company on top of that highly recommended food experience tour . Thank you Sara for a wonderful evening . IrmiWritten 22 June 2018
- mckenzie1360 contributionsGreat evening, discovering the fabulous La Spezia food made and served by such welcoming people!Firstly, the trip is excellent, you must be ready to eat as you are certainly going to eat, a lot! A great way to start your vacation in La Spezia, please do it just as soon as you can after you arrive. Our guide, Sara was fantastic. Being a UK resident, our language skills, embarrassingly so, are poor. She is a fluent English speaker, who answered many questions. In all, the trip was so beneficial, not only from being able to eat unique food but also getting an insight to the special town of La Spezia. Frying Scotsman.........Written 22 June 2018

We are real foodies and having been on similar food tours in the past, we were really looking forward to learning more about Ligurian food and its history as well as tasting some delicious things for €60 or so each. Unfortunately, this tour was really disappointing as we didn't learn much about ligurian food and the main thing we ate on the tour was just bread (cold foccaccia and pancake/wrap kind of things), and undrinkable red wine at the last stop (didn't seem notable as the type of grape/producer wasn't even mentioned). We did get some fish too, the stingray wasn't to our palette but the octopus was quite nice. We really wanted to like this tour, but I wouldn't recommend booking, as it just wasn't value for money. Instead I would recommend companies like Curious Appetite (runs tours in Tuscany) and Casa Mia (Naples, Rome etc), who are run by either historians or real foodies and give you a sense of their passion, incredible knowledge about the region's cuisine and delicious range of food. Sara, the tour leader, was nice and knew her town well but didn't seem overly knowledgeable about food/cooking...which was our expectation!

Dear customer,
Thank you for the feedback.
We are sorry that the tour was below your expectations and we will keep in mind your feedback for possible improvements. By the way, this is the first time we have received such a review and usually, our tour is appreciated by customers, both for the quality and quantity of the food and for our local expert Sara. We appreciate all kind of feedback, but we are surprised that you didn't like the tour as during the experience we didn't receive any complaints, on the contrary, you seemed satisfied. Probably, we could have customised the tour to better meet your expectations.
Anyway, we are sorry that you didn't like the tour, but we find it really unfair to recommend other tour companies in the review.
Best regards,
Giorgia

If you enjoy sampling delicious food with a local flavor, this tour is a must! Sofia is a thoughtful host who provided a perfect balance of casual chat and discovery … with the bonus of leading us on a tour build around stops to enjoy an incredibly tasty variety of local foods along our journey. Each stop was carefully selected based on her experience with the dishes and the businesses. Sofia made everyone in our group comfortable right away and excited about our adventure exploring La Spezia together. Grazie, Sofia!

We had an amazing time with Beatrice during our food tour!! She met us on time, showed us some amazing hidden gems in La Spezia and was very knowledgeable about the city and what we were eating. She even gave us some tips for our next destinations and how to find the best gelato and what kind of restaurants to avoid! 10/10 experience with some of the best food we had in the whole trip.

Our host was Llaria, she was very friendly and we immediately felt at ease. She was knowledgeable about La Spezia, and the surrounding area and gave us some great tips and recommendations for the rest of our stay in the region. The food was a good mixture of snacks, street food and restaurant which took us around the city and we discovered some places we hadn't explored yet. Good value for money, as we were very full at the end of the evening and definitely tried things we wouldn't have thought to ask for on our own. An excellent way to spend an evening in La Spezia. I would highly recommend this tour.

Sara was a warm host and seemed to genuinely enjoy sharing her city and its delicious food. The food was some of the best we've enjoyed on a food tour, and we've done quite a few. Not fancy, but tasty and authentic. Sara led the tour at a nice, relaxed pace over mostly level areas. Nice way to get a feel for La Spezia while enjoying lunch with a local.

Sofia was amazing! We toured around La Spezia and tasted lots of food. Sofia had great recommendations for around the city and spoke fantastic English. This is a great introductory food tour to the area, and I would recommend any tourist trying it—just because you will probably never order as much food as you receive on this tour.
Tried some fried fish and bread, bread made from chickpea flour, fresh pasta, seafood, and ice cream to finish.

For us, the Do Rat Better Experience was totally worth it. Our food guide Gaia was absolutely fantastic! With her friendly and funny manner, she led us to great food spots in La Spezia and provided unforgettable dining experiences. By the way, we were able to talk wonderfully about Italian culture. Gaia is a clear Recommendation – we would definitely go back on tour with her!

This experience was a wonderful way to experience local food with a knowledgable, engaging host. Our host/guide, Sofia, was a wealth information and provided historical accounts of the food and the area. The first two stops on the tour were “walking” followed by two seated restaurants and then a lovely tea house for dessert. The walking portion was nice as we were able to learn more about control La Spezia. We tasted everything from the local fried seafood to fresh pasta to panigacci. The wines were lovely too. Be prepared to eat-it’s a lot of food! If you have a chance to book with Sophia, I highly recommend doing so!!

Beautiful weather, exceptional food and a terrific tour guide named Manuela made the day just perfecto! She was very knowledgeable about the area, as she was born here. I recommend that you do not eat before your tour because you will eat plenty. It was a great way to learn the city and experience the more traditional dishes. Highly recommend

Great walking food tour through La Spezia with a lovely organised lunch at a cute little restaurant where we had a pesto pasta dish that was so delicious. Our guide Manuela was lovely and really took care of food allergies and preferences. Would highly recommend 👌🏻🇮🇹
