About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- cherylgK8049BJ0 contributionsGreat day exploring caves and castleFrom pick up to drop off we had a fabulous day with Koper Tours. We left the port and along the way to Postjona Cave we learned about Koper and the people who lived there. The time at the caves was incredible (be sure to dress in layers). The caves are incredible and while we were part of a larger group for this tour, we were able to learn a lot and see alot. Once we finished at the caves we went over to Predjama Castle which was breathtaking. At the castle we had the opportunity to tour the inside- many rooms to explore and the audio device was easy to use and full of great information . Many groups from our ship only saw the outside of the castle, but we were fortunate to see the inside. I highly recommend Koper Tours for small group excursions from the port of Koper! We had a great day!Written 15 November 2024
- 453beatricek0 contributionsA lovely day In SloveniaOur guide Ernesto gave us a great introduction to Slovenia. He was knowledgeable, informative, very responsive to questions, and made excellent recommendations for the use of our free time, including attractions to see, restaurants and shopping. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Ernesto has a winning personality and was very considerate of the needs of the participants.Written 28 October 2024
- Voyager293463068140 contributionsLake Bled and LjubljanaAwesome sights in Lake Bled. Too bad we were only given 1 hour to enjoy the place. Ljubljana tour was also pretty short but then the traffic situation going back to Trieste was getting bad.Written 16 October 2024
- KVandT0 contributionsCave is awesome; castle interesting. More of a driver and not a tour guide though. The cave is amazing. Great pictures. Bring a raincoat as it’s chilly and water drips from the ceiling. Castle is interesting. I wouldn’t say our tour guide was a guide; it’s more of a driver to the two attractions. He said nothing in the car on the drive to the group, just chatted with the man up front. Nice young man but I would have liked to hear about the area during our drive.Written 14 October 2024
- lisah0000 contributionsWonderful tour to Lake Bled & LjublanaWe did the Lake Bled & Ljubljana tour from Trieste. This was still a fun day tour despite of the rainy weather. Ernest our tour guide & driver was amazing. Our cruise had a change in port and the company was able to make the pick-up adjustment without issues. There were no issues in the pickup and Ernest was punctual! Our first stop was to Lake Bled. Ernest shared a Slovenia's history and culture along the way. It was an excellent way to pass the drive time as well as soak in the scenery. Ernest gave us an 1.5 hour at Lake Bled and showed us all the interesting things to do. This included what facilities are available :). Despite of the rain, we did enjoy the walk along the lake. Had it be better weather, we may have opted to do the walk up to the castle. We did try the renowned Solvenian cream cake which didn't disappoint, especially for dessert lovers and great with coffee. Second stop was Ljubljana. We had just over 2.5hr here to walk around the city. Ernest gave us a quick walk through the main parts of the city to orient us and point out interesting landmarks to explore further. He also shared options for food and facilities as well. We had a great time exploring the castle w/ view above the city. (I opted to take the funicular up and walking trail down). We still had plenty of time to walk around the city and grab a nice lunch too! All in all, a great day excursions. Ernest really did make it a great experience by sharing all his knowledge of Slovenia and the two locations. Very approachable & friendly too!Written 13 October 2024
- MikeG7100 contributionsNice day trip from TriesteNice side trip from Trieste. The bus tour brings you to lake Bled for about 2 hours and then about 2 hours in Lubjiana which includes a 40 minute walking tour with a local guide. Free time allows you to explore on your own and also have a quick lunch at the numerous cafes. The guide on the bus gave a good info about Slovenia, it's history and customs and the driver was excellent. Good value and a nice initiation to Slovenia.Written 5 October 2024
- H593BWrobertc0 contributionsWonderful experienceThe size of the caves just took our breath away. From the moment we entered them on the train we were enthralled. The castle was interesting but had a lot to live up after the caves. The driver from Koper trips was excellent and very informative and I would certainly use them again.Written 29 September 2024

- geauxsaintsfan0 contributionsAmazing day! Highly recommend. We had a wonderful day from start to finish. The tour company was responsive by email. Our driver Ernest (Ernie) arrived early at the meeting point with a smile, and we left on time at 8am. He spoke excellent English and gave us just the right amount of history. He recommended we visit Ljubljana first and then go to Lake Bled because of the traffic, and we think this was an excellent decision. The city of Ljubljana was lovely and we took the funicular up to see the castle and then back down to enjoy a nice beverage along the water. Then we went on to Bled arriving around noon and had 3 hours to relax and see the area. We took the “pletna” across the lake to the church which was very peaceful. Then we headed back and had a nice lunch including the famous “cream cake” as recommended by Ernie. The ride back to Trieste was comfortable, and Eddie knew when to let us nap and when to wake us up with his humor! It was a fantastic day, and we were dropped off about 515pm. I would use this company again if I come back. Slovenia is a beautiful country.Written 29 July 2024
- Patricia2550680 contributionsGreat guide and beautiful cityLake Bled is pretty but Ljubljana more interesting and the better part of the trip. Ernest is very knowlegable with fluent English and a sense of humour making the travelling very pleasant. We didn't mind having to walk to the departure point. It saved time overall as the traffic on the main highway can be very heavy and slow. The only negative is that Ernest had to speak loudly in the van and it was still not easy to catch everything he said in the back row at 100 kmh. They should provide him with a headset and microphone feeding the rear speakers - not difficult or expensive to do and easier on both guide and guests.Written 26 June 2024
- Michelle T0 contributionsBeautiful Lake BledLake Bled is absolutely beautiful! I wish we had more time there to enjoy all the lake had to offer. It was over an hour drive to get there, but we’ll worth it!!Written 10 June 2024

- fi33ne0 contributionsErnie from Koper Trips was great guideThe guide Ernie was very helpful and cheerful. Ernie gave us the relevant info to give us the context to better appreciate the two amazing places (Predjama Castle and Postojna Caves) covered in this tour. The company's pick-up from Piran was very helpful too as the tour started from Koper. I'd strongly recommend Koper Trips. Very service-orientated company. Thank you.Written 8 May 2024

we booked access to this attraction online.
truly a great discovery; the route is guided and the journey takes approximately 1 hour. it's really worth it! What I saw is inexplicable, but I assure you that you will certainly be amazed. parking is free and very large. I recommend arriving half an hour before the entrance time. Inside the site it is possible to take photographs

We went to visit the Postojna caves in August and it was really hot but once inside the temperature dropped to 11/12 degrees! If you go in high season, I recommend purchasing tickets online on the official website! Nothing to say about the organization of visits divided by time and language! It is really worth visiting these caves, the only ones crossed for a few kilometers by a nice train!

Ernie and Matt (?) were very enthusiastic and prompt. We had issues with participants not honoring the time and the group continued with Matt staying behind to bring them to the caves. That said the castle was rushed, I believe because we waited for a no show. Both were very happy to explain the history of the area in addition to the venues. Overall a wonderful experience!

The caves are worth the trip! Only magnificent places that alone are worth all five stars. Unfortunately, greed for money reigns supreme in this place. An organization so rapid and impeccable that it leaves no room for an explanation that goes beyond a single sentence of circumstantial comment. Once we got off the train, we started a race that we didn't even have to take the train to the Milan station, practically without ever being able to stop to admire the cave since the ride of the next group loomed behind us. I repeat, an incredible place that is worth a visit, but don't wait until you can enjoy it or fully appreciate its characteristics.

Visit to the castle combined with that of the Postojna Cave. Cost of the route 1 euro return by bus. 13th century castle almost nestled in the shelter of a 123 meter high karst cave. A steep staircase dug directly into the karst rock leads to a cavity and as if you were on a balcony you can admire the surrounding panorama. Nice visit on your own with audio guides that explain both the history of the site and various anecdotes and legends of the place.

Wow....I was (sort of) happy to wait in the cold wind to take this tour. It was extremely trying for me to keep up, but that was my problem...not the tour. So, be aware, it is a very strenuous tour. The cave portion of the tour was jaw dropping. The cave IS HUGE....the train ride is fun & necessary. The Castle has many levels and stairs. I'm a 63 yr old lady & I tried my best to do as much as I could, but did not get to the top. Others made it tho. It was so interesting & weird at the same time. We also stopped for lunch at a lovely local restaurant.....the food was nice & filling & very much appreciated. If I book a whole day of touring, I try to find one with lunch or a snack at least. Would recommend this tour, but remember, it's a lot of effort.

We booked this tour with Viator, tour was operated by a local company, Koper Tours. We were picked up on time from the cruise terminal, made another stop to pick up another group at a hotel. Our guide spoke excellent English. First stop was at the castle which sits embedded in the cliffs. There are a lot of stone stairs inside the castle, it would be hard for anyone with mobility problems. Castle really didn’t have much inside, a mock up dining room. We were on our own inside the castle. Next stop was the caves which started and ended with an electric train ride. Inside the caves are pretty amazing, it’s 50 degrees inside year round. There is a lot of walking between the train rides, on slippery, wet surfaces. There is a guide that tells some of the highlights. Anyone who has mobility issues I’d advise not to take this tour due to the wet, slippery surfaces. We walked about a mile.

Incredibly unique shore excursion from the cruise ship terminal in Monfalcone with my wife and 2 sons (8 and 11 years old). After researching the port there did not appear to be much activity in this port with the exception of going to Trieste.
Dan from KoperTours was flexible to pick us up from this port. His assistant Andrej was responsive. Our guide, Demian Sem spoke English quite well, a native to the area and there was knowledgeable about the local history and area and very flexible. We enjoyed his company very much.
The Postojna Cave was unique, interesting and beautiful. The Predjama Castle offered history and beautiful views of the landscape. Both very enjoyable and can be performed in a single day. I would recommend this to anyone in the Slovenia / Northeastern Italy area.
Tips:
If leaving from Port Monfalcone, the guide will be unable to enter the port. There will be shuttles to transfer from the ship to the port exit and there guide/driver will await there.
The cave will be cold, ensure you have a covering prepared.
