A truly great food and wine tour!
Angelo was incredible . He is passionate and so knowledgeable and as such he made our experience that much richer. (I had taken a tour like this in the past but it can’t compare to the one Angelo provided). In addition to guiding us, Angelo became a good resource when we needed information about train travel. He went beyond being a guide to help us. Thank you Angelo. I really hope our paths meet again one day!

    Best part of our trip.
Angelo is amazing. Speaks excellent English. You will feel like royalty when you go into the different factories, because everyone knows Angelo. The factories are not just any old place, these are some of the top manufactures in the industry. The details he knows about all the process of the factory was amazing. I would recommend him 1000% It was just me and my wife in our group.

One of the best days spent in Italy
You could not ask for a better tour guide than Angelo. He is not just a tour guide droning out facts- he is passionate and thoroughly knowledgeable regarding each food production stop that he takes you to. We took the full day tour and enjoyed it immensely including all the samples accompanied by a glass of Prosecco. Lunch in hills surrounding Parmo was delicious and unbelievably scenic. It was also enjoyable to stop for an hour or so to just sit and discuss any topics that came up. It was a perfect day and what we definitely consider a 5 stary experience from our visit to Italy. Thank you Angelo!!

    Get ready to eat!
My wife and I are were on our honeymoon in Italy and this was the most amazing experience of our time here. We did the full day tour and got to taste the most delicious Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma and Aceto Balsamico. Angelo is a wonderful guide, a great bloke and is extremely knowledgeable about all the sites visited. The sites are not very busy and it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. We stopped for lunch at a beautiful Agriturismo and had a truely delicious Italian feast, I could not recommend this tour more highly, it is a MUST. Lastly, don’t bother eating breakfast and remember to leave some extra room in your pants because you will be eating melt in your mouth food all day!

    Excellent culinary experience with Angelo
We had an excellent culinary experience with Angelo, a most knowledgeable, charming and highly professional tourist guide, who speaks a fluent English. We spent a full day, going through production and tasting of Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma (melting in the mouth) and aceto balsamico (probably not even near to what you are used to…) The light lunch in the agriturismo restaurant located on a top of a hill overlooking a wonderful Lombardian scenery was just perfect to complete this excellent experience. Thank you Angelo ! 🎩

    Perfect Day!
We had the pleasure to meet Angelo and embark on a wonderful day with him. If you are looking for a fun and knowledgeable tour guide, look no further. Angelo was fantastic and our day with him was one of the most memorable of our trip. We enjoyed all aspects of the tour and were so happy we did the full day which included lunch at a gorgeous winery. The little touches that Angelo included made all the difference and we really felt we were treated special. Angelo also arranged for us to be met by a driver which made our experience carefree and so easy for us to day trip to Parma from Bologna. If Parma is on your list, you must do this tour!

This is the food tour you're looking for!
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone! Angelo was so an amazing and knowledgable tour guide, and my husband and I enjoyed getting to spend the day with him. We did the full day tour (3 Kings), and he takes you to non-tourist areas so that you get a really authentic experience. Also, the website says that you get "tastings" at each stop. We expected a little piece of everything to try, but what we got was more cheese to taste than we could even eat AND a huge plate of prosciutto for just me and my husband, all served with wine. The downside is that I'll never be able to eat regular prosciutto and parmesan cheese again because the places he took us were so incredible. I also would not skip out on the balsamic part. It's the shortest of the stops, but it's really cool to see, and you get to sample some incredible balsamic. If you're in the area, this tour is a MUST. We loved every minute of it. Big thanks to Angelo for a great day!

This is THE 3 Kings Tour to book! Stop searching & scrolling, trust me on this one!
I had been living in Italy for 2 years with my family & decided I absolutely needed to do a 3 Kings Tour before returning to the US. I did my homework, read reviews & decided to give Angelo a try & I was thrilled I did. He is incredibly knowledgeable & interesting, he has a lighthearted & warm way about him & he didn't miss a beat in ensuring that the tours (we chose to do Parmesan & Prosciutto) were interesting for my 12 year-old son, not always an easy task. This is an absolute no-pressure tour -- if you want to buy something fine, if not, fine. But what I liked best was that Angelo would drive off the beaten path, into the hills, so we could see springtime's red poppies in bloom-- he then offered to take photos of my son & I, before I could even think to ask. He also took us to a hidden, local's restaurant that was truly fabulous!! The staff knew him well & the dishes he/they brought to us were exceptional. I felt like a total VIP simply because I was a guest of Angelo's. I tend to shy away from tours because I don't want to get caught in any sort of canned tourist trap, but with Angelo every moment is authentic & he is simply sharing his passion & culture with you. It's also worth noting that Angelo sent a personalized email to wish us a merry Christmas-- he is such a thoughtful person & total class act. Thank you again, Angelo!

Wonderful tour even for young kids!
We had an absolutely wonderful day with Angelo. We did a half day tour with our 2 year old and it was a perfect day of food and learning and conversation! Angelo took us to some incredible places and was very patient with our kiddo when he got fussy during part of the tour! I will recommend him to EVERYONE I know who is going to Parma. Simply perfect.

    Fun and Educational
We experienced the full day tour with Angelo, seeing the production of Parmigiana Reggiano, Proscuitto, and Balsamic Vinegar. We also had a lovely lunch at a winery. Our favourite experience while in Tuscany. Angelo was a great host and teacher.

Parmigiano Tasting & Wine Tour in Parma

Traversetolo

3 Kings Tour

First off my wife and I spent a total of 12 days in Italy. It was her first time in Europe. We landed in Rome for 3 days, then via train to Florence for 3 more days. Then by train again for an overnight in Parma. We had booked a special “3 Kings Tour” with Angelo Fanzini. Without any hesitation this tour was the best part of our trip. Angelo, who speaks perfect English, gave us a private tour starting early in the morning at a Reggiano Parmigiana cheese factory.
Caseificio La Traversetolese

As per Angelo’s instructions getting there early allowed us the opportunity to actually see the daily production from its start. Angelo, who has a multi year history leading tours, explained the entire process to us as we were seeing it. This tour not only was thorough but enlightening. It ended in a taste testing experience. We compared different ages of the Parmigiana noting there subtle differences.
After our cheese tour we went to a prosciutto factory. Piazza Peppino Prosciutti
Again, watching a truck load of pig hind legs being delivered right through the entire production to its culmination in curing. We also ended this part of our tour tasting some of the very best prosciutto I’ve ever tasted.
From there we went to a small Vinyard for an exceptional luncheon. Chef Ivan Lampredi gave a meal that was inspired, creative and delicious. In my mind this chef deserves a Michelin star. We sampled a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc that was sparkling and extraordinary.
After, this sumptuous luncheon we continued our tour at another Vinyard famous for its Balsamic vinegar. Tenuta Medici Ermete

Again, Angelo explained in detail the process of making the world’s best vinegar. Our tour ended with a tasting but more importantly with memories my wife and I will share for many years to come. Multiple accolades go to our tour guide extraordinaire, Mr. Angelo Fanzini.

My husband and I did a full day Parmigiano, Prosciutto and Balsamic tour and tasting with a great lunch at a beautiful Agriturismo. Angelo was our guide and we cannot recommend him enough! He was very knowledgeable professional and patient with all our questions and we learnt so much. His love of his region is obvious and we both felt it was one of the highlights of our 10 week trip in Europe. Thank you again!

Nov 2023 • Friends
We booked the 2 Kings tour with Angelo, originally for March 2020! Of course that trip was canceled because of COVID. But we revived the trip for November 2023. Angelo tailored the trip for us. Knowing that we have separate tours planned for Modena, he showed us the production processes of prosciutto and parmigiano reggiano. The process of the cheese making has many steps (bringing in the milk; adding rennet, heating; lifting the curds; fitting into the mold, pressing; soaking in the brine, aging, etc.). To see everything in chronological order would take too much time but Angelo timed everything perfectly - showing us everything right when they were happening and explaining the processes very well. We got to test the cheese wheels with the knocking tool and of course we tasted cheeses aged for different months. Similarly for prosciutto, he painstakingly explained how it was all made. We also got to observe, for example, sealing of the ham with the salt/fat/pepper mixture. The tasting was so good. Both the cheese and prosciutto tastings were accompanied by a bottle of wine. Because November is already off-peak, even though we booked the regular group tour, it was essentially a private tour. We did everything just ourselves with Angelo without other tourists.

Angelo then took us on a beautiful drive up the hills to a agriturismo location to have lunch. The food and wine were so good, all made locally. And the view was breathtaking on the hill. He had lunch with us, essentially as a private guide. He was knowledgeable and humorous, and always patient with all of our questions. Truly this was aptly named as "2 Kings tour" because me and my friend were treated like 2 Kings!

Angelo Fanzini was our tour guide and he took us first to Parmigiano Reggiano cheese farm, Prosciutto factory, a lunch at a converted farmhouse, then a small traditional Balsamic Vinegar farm/winery. He had the complete trust of all of the places he visited, he was allowed to take us to various places not normally allowed to casual visitors. He was also deeply knowledgeable about the history of each places and the products they make. This was the best tour ever for us, you won’t regret taking this tour.

Angelo was a phenomenal tour operator. Born and raised in the region, he intimately knows the different production houses he has you tour with and is steeped in the knowledge of the food specialities of the region as well as the history of the region.

We were a small group of four which lent a lot of personalization for our tour. This size allowed me the opportunity to hear everything when we were at a loud location, ask frequent questions and enjoy a delicious, cozy lunch with the other couple on the tour with us.

While Angelo doesn't provide direct transportation for getting to the different locations, he will arrange the hire of a private car for the day, or you can bring your own transportation.

I would go out of my way to repeat this tour and highly recommend it. We toured a parmesan cheese production house, a parma ham producer, had an amazing lunch and also sampled delicious, aged, balsamic vinegar.

This was a highlight of my trip to Italy.

What a wonderful introduction to Emilia-Romagna - the food, people, and landscape! Angelo was a fabulous host and guide taking us to smaller producers where we were able to truly learn how the parmigiano, procuitto, and balsamico are produced. Lunch was delicious and inexpensive in a spectacular setting. Highly recommend to any!!
