About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- micheletI5016SJ0 contributionsA delicious and immersive tourWe loved this walking tour with Roberta! She is very knowledgeable and kind, and she really took the time to guide us through a complete historical and culinary experience. As an Italian living abroad, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about my country and its traditions. For my partner—who is not Italian—this was even more of a treat, as he got to experience a (half) day full of incredibly tasty food and learn about the history and traditions behind it. Plus, the food was truly delicious! We visited only local and traditional places, tasting something new at each stop. We ate so much! 😅 Roberta is a great storyteller; she explained the ins and outs of how the incredible food we tasted was created. Since the tour was just for the two of us, she took the time to answer all our questions, making it feel truly special and tailored to our needs. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to my friends. Thank you for a great day!Written 30 January 2025
- micheletI5016SJ0 contributionsWe loved our tour!We loved how Roberta and her colleagues treated us, all the way from booking to the Parma walking tour that we took together. Not only Roberta is an expert at what she does, she is super friendly and adapted the experience to our needs (where possible). Highly recommended to get in touch with them!Written 30 January 2025
- AmitA4450 contributionsFood tour in ParmaWe had a great experience in the tour in Parma. It exceeded my expectations. Michelle was so knowledgeable, thoroughly explaining about each and every local delicacy, to a level that impressed me as a chef. Also very approachable and with loads of patience. Strongly recommend to add that as a way of seeing beautiful Parma, when you are travelling in the area.Written 18 January 2025
- Nielsfm0 contributionsFood filled highlight of ParmaThis tour takes you through the city centre of Parma, where food, history and of course the kind and knowledgable tour guide Roberta form the absolute highlight. After having visited Italy many times, we learned a lot about the history of food, particularly Parmigiano, Balsamico, and Prosciutto di Parma, that we did not know yet. Another highlight for me was the store with sugar coated violets. The time flew by on this extensive walk, that I would highly recommend. Hope you are hungry!Written 14 January 2025
- GoPlaces028170903330 contributionsWonderful in every way!A wonderful experience in every way. Michele gave us an intelligent and enthusiastic tour and personally was generous, professional, and good natured. The time passed so comfortably and I can’t recommend this tour highly enough!Written 7 January 2025
- MrDarcyAndElizabeth0 contributionsOnce in a Lifetime Tour! This tour was a highlight of our trip to Emilia-Romagna. Michelle picked us up from our hotel in Parma and our first stop was a small, independent producer of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. We got to see so many steps of the cheese making process up close! At first I had wondered why we needed to make such an early start to the day, but Michelle timing it perfectly so that we could see everything (from the boiling of the milk and separating the curds, to forming the wheels). We even got to help “turn” the curds to release them from the bottom of the copper vat. Next we got to taste 12, 24, 30, and 36 month Parmigiano Reggiano. Michelle is level 2 certified taster and thoughtfully walked us through the tastings, pointing out the nuances of each cheese’s aromas, textures, and flavors. So fun! Our second stop was a “salumifico” in Langhirano. I loved that this was another small family run business, this one woman owned and operated. Michelle was so knowledgeable about the whole process of making Prosciutto di Parma and walked us through the facility. So cool to see — although I wouldn’t recommend for my vegetarian friends. :) We ended with another great tasting — this time with a little glass of local wine, too. I truly cannot recommend Artemilia more highly. This truly felt like a once in a lifetime experience. Such a fun and special day.Written 18 December 2024
- MrDarcyAndElizabeth0 contributionsOutstanding Food Tour of BolognaThis was our second experience with Artemilis tours and I couldn’t be happier. Cecilia was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. My partner and I loved how she wove bits of history of the city and architecture into the tour. The food stops were all thoughtfully curated from savory (cured meats and cheeses) to sweet (gelato and chocolate). By far the standout of the tour was watching a demo of traditional pasta making — and trying our hands at folding tortellini. Of course, eating the tortellini en brodo and tagliatelle alla Bolognese was great, too. Everything was simple, from booking to meeting up in the city center. I would highly recommend Artemelia and Cecelia any food-oriented traveler.Written 18 December 2024
- nicolineh8000 contributionsGood trip, good foodWe walked around the city trying different foods and learning about the food culture of the area. Thanks to our guide Cecilia!Written 10 December 2024
- Q5790DVisaacm0 contributionsHighly recommend this delicious and insightful experienceWe had an amazing time with our guide, Roberta - in fact, this might have been our favorite tour during our trip to Italy! My wife and I were actually the only people in our tour, so it was very intimate and we got to move at a very comfortable pace without ever feeling rushed. It was almost magical how Roberta would take us to a location and suddenly delicious food would appear for us to try! We didn’t have to worry about ordering (she either did that for us or had already scheduled it advance) or paying (since we’d opted for the pre-paid option). We got to try so many different dishes, and Roberta shared so much info about all of them. We learned a lot, ate a lot, and made a lot of great memories. We will definitely come back to Parma again for a longer visit!Written 30 November 2024
- Magnus P0 contributionsWonderful experienceFantastic experience. We really enjoyed both the guiding with all her knowledge and the wonderful food we tasted. Was there with my daughter.Written 24 November 2024
- Krystin220 contributionsPerfect Parma day with cheese, balsamic and wine!!Michelle is an incredible tour guide, super knowledgeable, kind, fun and thoughtful. The tour took us to one of the best cheese factory’s in Parma as well as a magical Balsamic tasting and tour and winery experience! The whole day was perfect and an incredible value. Michelle was super flexible and accommodating because we had kids with us and she was able to customize the whole experience based on our needs. If you want to have a wonderful experience call Michelle and let her curate it for you based on her wealth of experience, expertise and approach. Everyone had the best day.Written 17 November 2024
- Lyndsey_D880 contributionsWonderful return trip! This was our second time touring with Michelle. We enjoyed our food tour of Parma with her so much a few years ago, we had to return to the area during this trip to see (and taste) more! Each stop on this tour was unique and delicious and really encompassed what the region has to offer. Michelle is such a wonderful guide, a wealth of knowledge and able to cater to each persons interests. We also appreciated the relationships she has with the local business owners. She is obviously very well respected in the area. Because of this, you truly feel like a welcome guest getting insider access to each of the productions. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to Parma and book with Michelle again and hope to do so soon!Written 16 November 2024
- K5151EWdavids0 contributionsAmazing Food and Wine Experiences in Parma and Emilia RomagnaI cannot express how INCREDIBLE my experience was with Artemilia Guided Tours. My wife and I did two tours: 1. The Best of Emilia Romagna Food Private Tour with Lunch and Wine Tasting and 2. The Parma Food Walking Tour. First of all, Michelle Costa, the owner of Artemilia Guided Tours was our guide for BOTH days. She was amazing! Her enthusiasm, passion and knowledge were unmatched. We learned so much about parmigiano reggiano, balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, wine and the food culture of Parma and the entire region. We have a new appreciation for the dedication to the amazing food and wine that is produced in this region. Michelle curated a hands on experience at the parmigiano reggiano farm. We put on hair nets and protective clothing and were able to experience the cheese making process up close and in person. We were even able to “help” the process….similar to Stanley Tucci in searching for Italy. We never thought we would have this chance. Visiting a balsamic vinegar producer, who has won many awards, exceeded our expectations. What an amazing craft. The vinegar was delicious and the learning about the process was second to none. Lunch at the winery was sublime One of our best in the entire region. Do not miss this opportunity if you like cooking, food and wine. Michelle is second to none and will not disappoint. The next day, we had the Parma Food Walking Tour. We were still relishing in the amazing experience from the day before. Our tour started at a bespoke bakery and we experienced pastries that were as beautiful and they were delicious. While walking to each destination, Michelle spoke of the glorious history of Parma. Next, we stopped at a gourmet salumeria and tried so many amazing cured meats, different aged parmesan cheeses and Italian bubbly. My wife was swooning and wished that we had a place like this in the US. Next, we went to an authentic Parma restaurant and tried various types of pasta. One was better than the next. Finally, a Michelin starred gelato experience with flavors we could never have imagined. All in all, the morning was perfect. Michelle curated an incredible day for us. She was so generous with her time and with making each stop special and unique. We cannot recommend Artemilia Guided Tours enough. We would advise anyone traveling to Parma or Emilia Romagna to book with Michelle. She was so professional and caring. Take the tour….any tour….you will not be disappointed.Written 3 November 2024

- O1811HFmarcod0 contributionsGreat Experience! We had so much fun! Michelle was amazing, so personable and took the time to get to know us, funny, and super knowledgeable. It was perfect weather, all of our stops were so unique and the food was delicious. She brought us out of our comfort zone with trying new things and wasn’t pushy about things we didn’t want to try. This was a perfect experience to get the insider tour of the city’s history and how it affected the food culture and still lives on today. You will get full and enjoy yourself. We would definitely do this tour again!Written 31 October 2024

An unforgettable experience, highly recommended.
We knew that Parmesan was a special product but seeing all the processing stages, getting to know the cheesemakers and seeing their dedication, tasting the different maturations and the freshly made ricotta, makes you appreciate everything even more.
And then the visit to the vinegar factory: I discovered that traditional balsamic vinegar is completely different from what we usually use. Thanks to Mr Marco, who welcomed us into his Acetaia.
Waking up early even on holiday was definitely worth it. It was a morning full of stimuli, discoveries, history, culture and special people.
Thanks to Serena and Artemilia, they were scrupulous in organizing and choosing the itinerary.

We had a unique and amazing experience that allowed us to understand and appreciate the craftsmanship behind the production of parmeggiano reggiano and balsamic vinegar. Laura, our tour guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable, as so were the owners and workers of the two sites we visited. We did the tour with our 5-month old baby using our carrier at all times and everyone was very accommodating and friendly all the time. Highly recommend to anyone interested.

This tour is outstanding! Our guide Michelle has an encyclopedic knowledge about every aspect of the trip. She was informative, personable, and made the trip quite fun. Michelle has research the area to find the best producers to visit. The cheese factory tour was not only interesting but we had so much fun being able to partake in a part of the process. The balsamic tour is at a lovely home and we sampled several amazing varieties. This is the very best tour that we have done with Trip Advisor and I highly recommend booking it asap! Thanks again to Michelle.

This was an amazing experience - we can't recommend it enough! This private tour exceeded all our expectations. The Parmesan Dairy was incredible - we got to see all aspects of the cheese making process and learned so much. We also thought the tasting was great. This was also true at the Balsamic Vinegar stop. At both places, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and really helped us learn about both the history and current production of each product. This was a highlight of our trip.

The tour organized by Artemilia was truly exceptional!
Roberta gave us many details and curiosities about both the production process of Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar.
The quality of the tour is very high and being a private tour allows you to enjoy details and moments that in group tours would not be possible.
I highly recommend it!

I did both a Parma food walking tour and a parmigiano reggiano, balsamic vinegar, and proscuitto di parma day tour with Michelle. Michelle was an amazing guide, she is a Parma native and knew so much about the history, culture, and of course food! She made the weekend of touring Parma's rich culinary history seamless and her recommendations were all wonderful. I would definitely suggest booking a tour with Michelle!

I just completed a full day tour of the Parma countryside with my guide, Michelle. Parmigiana Reggiano, Balsamic Vinegar and a prosciutto fattoria. I am delighted to report that the tour exceeded my expectations of the program. Michelle is born and raised in the Parma region, along with the fact that she is extremely knowledgeable and personable. All of which made the day a success. In addition, at my request, Michel hired a private driver, which was a plus in these current times. This is my fifth visit to Italy in a list seven years, and I can honestly say it was the best tour.

The experience was amazing. Michelle was an excellent guide, she provides many historic facts that make the experience fun and interesting. We were able to talk directly with the producers and had the opportunity to see the cheese and vinegar processes inside the factories at first row. We would love to come back to Parma and repeat this experience.

The tour gave us unexpected emotions and flavors! The visit to the dairy is a guarantee, experiencing the processing phases that lead to the creation of the famous Parmigiano Reggiano and then tasting it in the maturing room, where the eyes and sense of smell are filled with emotions... the visit to the vinegar factory however was a surprise , with the discovery of an unknown but very fascinating world. A tour that went well beyond expectations also thanks to the professionalism and friendliness of our guide. A small holiday in the area must certainly include a half day in their company to discover these fantastic and characteristic places. We will definitely be back to try other experiences

Cecelia was a great tour guide. We learned much about the process of making parmigiana reggiano. It was very interesting!
The stop to learn about balsamic vinegar was wonderful. We felt very lucky to be able to meet Marco, the balsamic vinegar maker, and to hear his story and to taste along with his explanations.
Overall, it was a great experience and we highly recommend it.

We will already be in Reggio Emilia, so we don't need transport from Emily Way Bar to the first stop. If we got to the first stop, could we ride on the bus to the second stop?
