    A fantastic experience
Our tour started miserably with a drenching downpour. Within seconds of entering the Vatican, you couldn’t have cared less about the weather. Our tour guide Roberta had an unbelievable wealth of knowledge about her city of Rome. We got to visit all of the Major tourist sites within Rome, & as mentioned Roberta knew a great deal about those sites as well as everything we passed… she was truly amazing!. This trip is not for the faint of heart as there is a lot of walking And remember Rome is built on a hill … lots of them! We highly recommend this adventure.

The Tour Guy tours of Colosseum, Forum and Vatican
We thoroughly enjoyed The Tour Guy small group tours of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Forum and the Vatican. The guides were excellent and the company did a great job of communicating with us.

Luigi is what made our experience surpass above and beyond our expectations. He was very knowledgable with the history of Rome and answered any questions we had with a smile. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome.

    Not as advertised, not impressed
My tour had 38 people, as a guide had called in sick. Not that big a deal for me, but the guide pointed at a ruin in the Forum and said, that's Palatine Hill. When she was questioned, she said there were just a lot of those on Palatine Hill. We did not go there! At the end of a short tour of the Colosseum, we were told the exit is that way. When asked how to get back to our starting point, she said just turn right. It turned out we were the opposite end of the stadium from our starting point. A jaded tour guide who gave us a very disappointing tour. My complaint about not seeing Palatine Hill when it was supposed to be part of the tour was not addressed. I did get a discount for the huge tour size when I mentioned that.

St. Peters Basilica nd Papal Crypts Tour
We only booked St. Peters and the Papal Crypts tour but the tour we were assigned to was also going to the Vatican. I feel we were rushed through St Peters and the Papal crypts because the rest of the group was going to the Vatican. Whenever we stopped to take pictures or just admire the beauty of St Peters we would lose the group. We did not continue with the group to the Vatican because we already had toured the Vatican.

Detailed, Insighful and Pleasant Experience in Rome
Special highlight and shout out to Enzo Broccoli. The best tour guide. She is very knowledgeable and very passionate. She explains every landmark in great details and highlighting the history that dates back to AD and BC. He explanation is very clear. We came with no expectation but we had a wonderful experience from the beginning to the end. We enjoyed every location we visited. Rome has so much to offer and rich in history and the tour guy has given me an insight into rome. I highly recommend anyone to go for this tour and specially request for Enzo Broccoli.

A beautiful morning, bright sun, light crowds: Ancient Rome in November
Our guide Eleanora (like Eleanor Rigby she reminded us so we could credit her on TA) was wonderful on this very comprehensive tour. We were fortunate to go in the morning in November, so very light crowds for most of it, although as we got closer to noon and the sun was warmer the Forum started filling up. She was smart, kept us organized, answered questions and helped me find the taxi stand afterward. Dont forget to tip your guides!

    Really enjoyable
Great guided tour and our guide was very funny her knowledge was great. The tour is really good to understand all the history and get an understanding of the area and places then you can go back to places during your stay with more knowledge and understanding and spend more time enjoying the place you liked most with just the admission ticket.

Serena was a wonderful guide. Lots to learn, lots of walking. We learned a few truths about gladiators. The Romans thought of everything.

    Great Overview of Rome
Good tour at a good pace. Would have been better if it included tour of inside of the Pantheon (they were transparent that there was no tour of inside if the Pantheon).

The Tour Guy is a poorly run tour group
Not recommended. Poorly managed tour company, overcrowded, and way overpriced. There are much better companies to use who are much friendlier and actually pay attention to their guests. Avoid them.

    Tasty, fun and interesting tour
I would highly recommend this tour. Dimitri not only shows nice places where to try Italian cousin dishes, but he also reveals some secrets about Italy and its history. The tour guide was joking a lot and kept conversations with everyone.

She was an excellent guide. She really knows her stuff. Very interesting to listen too. We had a bit of difficulty with her accent sometimes but in general it was ok.

I chose this company mainly because of the good reviews they had received, the tours they offered as well as their refund policy. In February, The Tour Guy’s refund policy was if tours are cancelled more than 24 hours prior to your tour you would get a refund. I contacted the company on April 13, 2020 to cancel our tours. We were scheduled for two tours on June 5th and 1 on June 6th. I received, a confirmation email from their customer service rep, stating they were refunding me $1,071.01 but to allow 30-90 days for the refund to process. Which I completely understood the time restraints due to Covid-19 and I have been patiently awaiting my refund.
Fast forward to June 4, 2020 I now receive another email, stating they had completed my cancellation but will now only give me a credit plus 25%. Oh they did give me 3 years to us it in, that would be a plus if I was still planning to go there. I contacted the company again and stated that I was confused because I was told I was receiving a refund so why am I now only receiving a credit at which point I again requested a refund. I received another email stating I could fill out another form and someone would contact me but there was no other options. So basically, take or leave it. Therefore, they did not stand by their previous refund policy nor even by what their customer service had stated. Not a good business practice!!!!! Plus they have now changed their policy to only give credit no refunds.
Really, I understand that the tourist industry has taken a huge hit but so has majority of the people. Where a trip of a lifetime was cancelled beyond their control and is no longer an option at this time to even travel out of country due to travel restrictions and financial issues. Where people are jobless and cannot pay bills, some cannot even afford food. My point is just because the travel industry has taken a hit does not mean you arbitrarily change your refund policy to only give people credit and not stand by what you had previously promised.
People specifically choose this company because of their refund policy and now they will not even stand behind it.
BEWARE!!!!

You’re right and we are sorry to be letting our customers down in this situation. The pandemic has hit our sector hard and fast.We would also like to apologize for the timeline inconsistencies regarding the resolution of your cancelation request. We have severely under-estimated the length of time that we would be hindered by this pandemic. It has forced us to reach down into some of the fine print in our terms and conditions that we hoped would never see the light of day. We’ve updated our policy to the credit voucher system for future guests - which is becoming an industry standard. There will be no surprises if a pandemic or force majeure situation of this size arises again as our policy is now uniform with our response. We deserve the 1-star review in this situation. We regret that we were not able to show you why our tours are consistently rated 5-Stars. We understand you are unhappy with credits but we are still excited to make it up to you on your next trip. We are great at tours and terrible at pandemics.

I booked a 5 hrs tour starting at 7:30am, it was reduced to a 2 hrs tour by the tour operator because they said St Peter's Basilica is closed on the day we booked. They only refunded 26% of the money we paid. Not only that, when I checked on the official Vatican website, it says St. Peter's Basilica is open until 12 that day only the dome is closed. We missed out on a major site we were looking forward to visiting.

We were delighted to take this excellent tour with Raffa O. She was warm, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. And despite receiving some harsh feedback from another person who was disappointed by the early part of the tour, she handled the situation with grace and professionalism, continuing on to incorporate that feedback into the tour and ensuring that everyone knew when we needed to stay together and when we had free time to roam. Leading a group of people though huge crowds with many other tours happening side by side cannot be easy. But we had a great time in large part to Raffa’s skills and talents in helping us make the most of our visit to this incredible place.

Highly recommend. All instructions were clear and we easily found our guide, Samantha, to start the tour. We were some of the first to enter St Peters Basilica and had a very short and quick moving line to enter before going to the top of the dome. The many stairs are winding and strenuous but worth every moment as the view from the top is wonderful. By the time we made our way back down the crowds were very intense and we were delayed briefly for a mass procession but then resume our tour of the basilica and papal crypts. Then we went back outside and walked right past extreme lines of people waiting to bypass those lines and easily enter the Vatican museums. The crowds inside were massive so there was not an opportunity to leisurely absorb all there was to see, but Samantha did a great job keeping us informed and moving. The Sistine chapel was part of this tour and amazing as expected. It was disappointing that so many people ignored the rules of silence and no photography in the chapel, but it was still worth the crowds to see. It was a whirlwind and the only way to go and see these things in those kinds of crowds. We were early enough to get lots of pictures of the Vatican/basilica before 1000s filled the area later in the day.

Our experience with this tour was exactly what we had hoped for. Our tour guide, Raffa, spoke English well and was both friendly and informative. Raffa provided a lot of insight into the various works of art and history of the city that we would not have known otherwise. Would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in seeing Vatican City snd St. Peter’s basilica.

This tour was wonderful for us. We really enjoyed all of the aspects of St. Peter’s Basilica and our tour guide, Maria, was fantastic. Her great knowledge of the Papal history was explained in a very interesting way that kept all of our attention. We even got to go underneath to see the Crypts. The 2nd half of the tour is at the Vatican Museums. Again, she held our interest with stories and history. Although we left the tour a little early (wrong shoe choice for me!), it was a super valuable day for my family and I.

It was a great tour thanks to our amazing guide Lya (Lia). She was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to our questions/concerns. The whole tour is a bit much though duration wise especially if you’re with teens. Recommend splitting it if you have an opportunity otherwise just push through, it’s worth it:)

We did our tour with Raffa on 10/02/22 and she was amazing. We arrived to find that it was only the two of us on the tour so we had a very personalised experience and when we went over to the Vatican Museum there was only one other person who joined us.

Raffa was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions (we had many). Raffa also went at our pace and frequently checked that we were okay and happy with everything that we were doing. Raffa also recommended an amazing local pizza place for lunch.

Thank you Raffa for an amazing day!

This was truly an amazing tour of the Vatican! Our tour guide Maria was fantastic! You could really feel her passion for what she does! She answered all of our questions and made sure to point things out that related to questions we had asked earlier in the tour, remembering who asked what. Overall, we had an absolutely amazing time and will be recommending to all our friends who plan to visit the Vatican!

We did the Vatican combo tour with Maria as our guide and had a fantastic experience - She studied art history and was the perfect tour guide for this tour. We were impressed with how qualified and knowledgeable our tour guides were, truly the best experiences we've had with tour companies.

We did the Colosseum underground with forum and palatine hill the day prior with Ferdinando as our guide - He is an accomplished archaeologist who did his dissertation studies 50 feet from the Arch of Constantine.
