About the operator
- S8414MHcynthiaa00Incredible tour experience!!This was an incredible tour and Chiara Antonelli’s energy was so vibrant. There is so much history to the Vatican and I highly recommend getting a tour to fully immerse yourself in this beautiful place. - Cynthia
- ch0tip0ngc00Awesome Experience w/ Chiara’s TourThis tour was amazing! I recommend to get Chiara Antonelli. Her jokes were funny and kept everyone laughing, while keeping it professional and eventful. She had really fun facts and knowledge to share. She did her best to remember everyone’s name and felt right at home. There were restroom and coffee breaks. She was very clear about the agenda and gave us time to take pictures. I loved how she would ask questions so we understand the bigger picture and why things are the way they are. I came out of this tour with a new profound understanding and appreciation for Roma and the history of lasagna layers it has. Thailand. :)
- Nancy B00Pompeii with wine tasting day tour, Don’t miss it, is so worth it!We read the reviews on this day trip with Italia Tours and decided to book a day tour to Pompeii with a wine tasting, but I must say I was hesitant as the reviews were to good lol From the organization, communication from the operator, transportation, winery and specially Antonio our tour guide, everything was excellent and made our trip an amazing experience, despite the rainy day we had, grazie Antonio and Italia Tours!!
- AnnaSfromPoland00Very good interesting tourThe trip was great! We knew a lot about Vaticano, popes and history. Nadia was the best tourist guide we've ever had :)
- bubba49201600Bucket list, tick! Fantastic !We are older travelers, but the tour said 18-99, so we booked. They met us when and where they said they would. Our train ride went perfectly. Our guide Vincenzo was gracious and knowledgeable. My husband felt he couldn’t complete the full tour and was kindly shown where to exit and wait. It was a challenge for me, as a slightly less than fit 74 year old woman, but I am proud to say I did it and it was worth every ache! The wine tasting and lunch were well worth it. Tasty and eaten family style with good conversation. The only down side was arriving in Rome at rush hour. What is the point of a bullet train if it takes 1 1/2 to travel from Naples to Rome and almost as long waiting outside the station for a gate to park at? Not the tour’s fault, of course. Just an observation.
- nicolejM8673DQ00Viva Vaticano! This tour was amazing! We were able to skip a lot of the lines that the Vatican experiences since it started early in the day and got a ton of information about all of the sites and how it came about in a "lasagna" style fashion ---> each layer built up the history of the location. The break in the middle for lunch also allowed us to take some time to get a snack, shop and get some great photos prior to seeing the museum and Sistine Chapel. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour!
- Dennis S00Great TourThis was a great experience for my entire family . Our tour guide Felicia was fantastic. She is an Art Historian with extensive experience working at Pompeii. She was friendly & extremely knowledgeable. The winery visit afterwards was also a great experience. Great wine and food. Transportation to and from also was very good. Highly recommend this tour.
- R5272VScarolineg00Not to be missedThe trip was amazing and our guide was excellent. Very Knowledgeable and passionate about her job. Really enjoyed Pompeii and the high speed train was definitley the way to go. Lunch at the winery was fantastic. Cant reccomend this tour enough
- Q8118TKdavidh00The Vatican, preserving Christ through out the centuriesThis was the Vatican Museums tour. Our guide, Quara, is a very intelligent and interesting individual. She made the morning melt away with her humor and ability to quickly make the group of strangers friends.
- John_M_199900Pompeii by Train from RomeTour company made it very easy to travel to and from Pompeii. Train ride was smooth and bus to site was quick. Ride had great views. Our tour guide was very accommodating in answering all of our questions. It was our first time in Rome and would highly recommend the guide. Lots of walking during tour and guide highlighted sites. Guide was very knowledgeable. We were given time for gift shop before lunch. The food and service was excellent at the winery. Bonus was walking around and seeing the grounds.
- Travel67566500Highly recommended way to see ancient PompeiOur guide Serena was fantastic! I would give her 10 stars. She was able to have the perfect pace, just the right amount of facts and story telling, and enough time to take pictures or take it all in. It seemed as if she genuinely was proud of the region and of all the discovery/preservation work of this amazing place. It is a must to have a guide when visiting the archeological site, I don’t know that we would have gotten as much out of the visit if we went at it alone (and would have 100% gotten lost). It was nice to speed up the transit from Rome traveling most of the way by train, so much more preferable than spending multiple hours in a bus. Lunch at the winery was fine, we enjoyed getting to know our tour group mates a bit more, pasta sauce (assuming winery and menu are consistent) was very good, but wine was unfortunately just ok. The limoncello was the star. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a quick almost-day trip.
- Gary M00Going back in timeThe history was amazing. The tour guide was very good. The train was fast 185mph. Well worth the cost.
- robbiew55300Amazing TourThe tour was very good. A bit long but there is so much to see. Our tour guide Sabrina was excellent. Took her time and did a wonderful job explaining everything we saw. I would highly recommend this tour. Everything is covered in detail in this extensive tour.
- P5252KOjenniferk00Fab pompeii day out!Everything was excellent from start to finish. Train fab, Pompeii and guide outstanding, lunch and wine tasting excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone.
- SoonToBeRetiredSteve00100% recommendFantastic experience. Tour or Pompeii was our favorite. Literally a city frozen in time and the wine tasting experience was awesome end of the day. 100% recommend. Tour guide Antonio was knowledgeable and funny. Great directions and communication from company.

Our guide was Palo. He's a very Knowledgeable guide. What I liked was that he kept doing a head count to make sure no one got lost in the crowds as this tour was very busy. I had crutches, and there were others who couldn't complete the full dome clime at the e top. He took non climbers to another locates within the dome then went to take the rest of the group to top of dome.

Our tour guide Chiara was phenomenal. She had a witty sense of humor while explaining the interesting details of the basilica, Sistine Chapel and museum. She moved to the pace of the group and even though we were slow she stayed the extra time.
Highly recommend. Do not go without a tour. The entry lines can be hours long and with the tour you skip the lines

We did the tour of the basilica and the dome with Marianne. Marianne is a French speaking guide who migrated +/- 30 years ago from Belgium. She did a fantastic job explaining the historical contact of the papal city/ papal empire through time, the role of the different popes, …. She communicated with enthusiasm and passion on her city and brought enough anecdotes and details to really make the story more lively.
Great guide !

We booked the tour through the vatican Museum and the Peters Catedral. Ciara was a great guide. She is very very passionate about history and art and will make the time fly by. I can recommend taking the tour with her. She is not rushing through the tour and even is taking more time to show you all the highlights if you are interested.
Thank you ciara for a great experiance.

Thank you for traveling to Italy and deciding to tour with When In Rome Tours and Chiara! We are very grateful for your custom. It's important for us to get reviews from people who are traveling during Covid-19 to show others that in reality, life is going on as normal and all that is required is hand washing and occasional mask wearing to protect the elderly and the infirm. Simple.

Obviously I can’t just pick one thing I loved our guide Chiara, was fabulously animated and made an effort to know our group. She is knowledgeable and knows her history. She kept us all engaged and accentuated the important information so we took a moment to really enjoy! She was sensitive to the needs of our group and made sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend the company and specifically Chiara, my only regret is that I didn’t take a picture with her. We are going back next year and will request her. Send me a pic of her please.

When in Rome - Vatican and St Peter’s Dome Climb was the perfect tour for my mom and I to see the highlights of Vatican City. Our guide Massimo was knowledgeable, fun, and energizing throughout the entire morning… and everything was well organized.
The timing was great before the crowds arrived. The climb is tight at times, but you have the option to enjoy a good view from the roof if you are claustrophobic. We were happy we made the climb for this awesome perspective!

Marianne was a brilliant guide of this early morning tour where we walked to the top of the dome of St Peter’s Basilica before returning to see the inside of the church and the Popes’ tombs underneath. Marianne was the perfect guide - friendly and informative. Highly recommend

I have experienced today a tour with our guide: Paul for: St Peter's Basilica Dome Climb with Tour of Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel - English guided Tour (Booking ID: 11282674)
It was an amazing experience!
I recomand you all to book a tour like this with a guide (I truly recomand you Paul! He was very funny and kind and polite and I really liked how he explained everything in detail!), because you will win a lot of time by skipping the endless lines!
I have a great day with Paul from When in Rome tours! 🥳🥳
P.S. I recomand you to visit Vatican in the winter season. The weather in great (I was in February) and it will not be too crowded as it it in summer!

There are over 300 steps, many of the spiral staircase variety & a few tight spots. Having said that I am 6ft 2 inches and 67 years old and made it. Being in both reasonable shape c reasonable determination should allow you to make it. The views were well worth it. We were accompanied pre & post Climb by our Tour guide Marianne. She speaks well and is knowledgeable on her subject. She tries to involve her tour group c questions but is not your 8th grade teacher trying to intimidate you. She is warm and approachable. I will add the tour location was easy to find, started on time and ran a bit long but Marianne did not rush the end-much appreciated

This was a highlight of our trip to Rome. Georgia was an excellent tour guide and provided us with knowledge about the St Peter’s that we would never have known if we had gone there on our own. In particular, the history of the building and the relationship between Christian and pre-Christian Rome, provided us with historical detail that made the experience so worthwhile.
And the climb to the top of St Peter’s dome was nowhere near as difficult as it some comments made it out to be. If a relatively fit 71 year old can do it, anyone can.

I would like to see the Vatican (with the chapel)St. Peter's Basilica the vatacombs and climb the Dome. Can I do all this with one ticket? Prefer skip the line and a guide.

The Dome climb was combined with St Peter Basilica tour but no Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel. I would suggest to book a tour that included Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peter Basilica with Vatacombs (it exists) and on your own so the Basilica climb but do it really early 8am- ish. It cost only 8eur on foot or 10 with elevator
