8:30 Small Group Tour
Sep. 2019 • Solo
Our guide Elaina, a former archaeologist, was perfect. There were only five of us and we bonded quickly. The guide pointed out all the significant features in the museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s basilica always making sure we understand her, making sure we knew exactly where she would meet us at different points. I would recommend this for solo and couple travelers who want a good overview of these magnificent treasures. Due to last minute illness we missed our original tour and company was very understanding and arranged a different schedule for me to take the tour while my husband stayed at our lodgings. Meet up point directions are excellent with photos emailed prior day. Trip Advisor, Viator and Roma Experiences local tour contacts went overboard to help us.

Dear Jo Ann H, Awesome to hear you found our meetingpoint information clear and had no trouble location our guide! We strive for perfection, but can absolutely understand it remains difficult for people to find their way about in a strange city. We are glad to hear you've appreciated our efforts in rescheduling the exprerience for you. In case of ilness we always try to work out a solution for both parties and if possible will try and reschedule the tour if availbility allows us to do so. Thank you very much for sharing your experience having used Roma Experience to discover the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter's Church!

Great trip, excellent guide
Jul. 2019 • Couples
It was well worth getting up early to skip the queues. There is a small waiting time for it to open however Francesca was a wonderful guide and the conversation started straight away, so even during the small waiting time you can start to enjoy the tour. It was very busy but our guide managed to stop at all the major talking points. There were only 4 in our group so we moved at our own pace and really enjoyed the day. Looking at other groups of 10 people plus, it would be hard to keep with the group. Before we left our guide she pointed out extra things we could do once she had left and we climbed to the top of St. Peter's which was well worth it for the spectacular views of Rome. Thank you to Francesca for a great day!

Dear Emira19, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback on our Early-Access Vatican Tour! Getting up a little earlier is an ideal way to beat the crowds (as we enter an hour before the general public) so eventhough crowdy outside, inside the atmoshere surely still is more ''tranquillo'' . Brilliant to read Francesca did an amazing job and even gave some great recommendations on how to make your visit even more complete. Our Early Morning Vatican tour runs with a maximum of 12 people per guide, but when receiving less bookings ofcourse goes ahead = ). Thank you once more for sharing your feedback, we hope you will consider our company for future visits!

Great morning Vatican tour before the big crowds!
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and delivered an excellent tour of the Vatican. This small group tour starts out seemingly crowded at the meeting point with many other tour operators, but once inside you realize the value of this tour being very open in the museum and able to see everything with ease...including the floor! Of course, the Sistine Chapel was the busiest part. Reports are that normal day visits are shoulder to shoulder people and difficult to enjoy it. Recommend this Roma Experience tour.

Dear diyoakum, Thank you for having taken the time to share your opinion on our Vatican Early Morning Tour, and we are pleased to see you would recommend this tour to others! The Early Morning tour allows us to enter an hour before the general public, so eventhough there might be crowds outside, inside it is still nice and peaceful. In case you (upon return) wish to visit the Sistine Chapel in a more serene atmosphere feel free to drop us an e-mail! We now have exclusive tours in which you can visit the Sistine Chapel with max. 12 others, and another tour that even allows you to open the Sistine Chapel's door and watch the lights get turned on in the morning!

No way of avoiding the HUGE crowds
May 2019 • Solo
Wanting to avoid the crowds I signed up for the 7.30am small group tour. Forget it you still get in a queue of over a thousand people when they open the gates at 8.00am. There seemed to be other small groups ushered through agate beside our stacked queue.(Not sure of those companies). Our guide was difficult to locate initially due to the overcrowded meeting point.

Inside getting the sound systems and toilet break are OK. The place is just too crowded and you only skim over rooms and there is not the opportunity to ask any detailed questions. The guide was OK.

Dear Allan F, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback and thereby giving us the chance to improve our services in the future. I am saddened to hear that you still had to stand in line for a while to get into the Vatican. We start the tour as early as possible and are able to enter the Vatican an hour before it opens to the general public. The time spent passing the security of the Vatican our guide will start their tour and explain some of the history of this powerful state. May however is highseason and it is true that there will be crowds around the entrance of the Vatican. To prevent struggling to locate our guides we always provide customers with detailed meeting point information (where our guide will await people holding the logo of the company) and emergency contact numbers so that we can personally be of assistance in case of need. We would once again like to thank you again for giving us this feedback, and hope to have the opportunity to show our improvements to you during future visits.

From Dark to Light was AMAZING!!!
Apr. 2019 • Family
We first went to the Rome Catacombs then the IV Century Basilica of Saint Clemens. Then (we had arranged an early morning next day) of the Vatican/Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of Saint Peter. Daniel was the most amazing and knowledgeable tour guide one could ever ask for when at the Catacombs and especially when he had the opportunity to share his extensive knowledge of archaeology about the multi historical aspects of the Saint Clemens Church. Itself a true hidden gem so close to the Colosseum. There is/was nothing, no aspect of anything you could think to ask Daniel (and we had a 12 year old filled with questions) that he did not only relate in an understanding way, but also in a very engaging way! Bravo and five stars. Then, I believe it was an act of divine intervention we were blessed with THE most amazing guide, Beatrice or "B" who just blew us away with her most charming and insightful knowledge of all people, places, works of art and knowledge of scripture. I cannot stress enough how my memories and entire trip will forever be remembered with joy because of her. Both Daniel & Beatrice are worth seeking out and requesting! You get what you pay for and I would have paid more!!!

We are over the moon reading all your kind words about how Daniel and Beatrice made your trip unforgetable with their knowledge and charm! Great to know your twelve year old made sure our guide, Daniel its knowledge was put to the test =)! End of the day Rome has so many impressive stories to be told and layers discovered, and that is what our Catacombs Tour is all about! We strive to maintain small groups and highly professional guides, to make sure our cutomers get their moneys worth. Your kind review will motive us to continue doing so in the future, and we thank you profusely for taking the time to write about our Catacombs and Early Morning Vatican Tour!

Great tour with a knowledgeable guide
Jan. 2019 • Couples
My husband and I had an excellent tour with Maria last weekend! I have visited the Vatican several times previously, but this was easily the best and most interesting. Maria has a very thorough knowledge of the art, history, and architecture of Rome from ancient to modern times. She provided some unique perspectives about. things I didn't know, and reminded me of others I'd forgotten from my own education years ago.

We took another tour with Roma Experience Tours the same weekend and enjoyed it as well. Clearly they have high standards for their guides, I think you will be pleased, and you will learn something new even if you have visited before!

The off season is a great time to visit Rome if don't mind a little cold. We were actually the only people on this tour, and we had many rooms to ourselves. Even the Sistine Chapel was very open. I have visited in January but during the afternoon (quite busy, lines and waiting) and on a July morning (jam packed everywhere). Skip the line and early morning are the way to go!

Thank you very much for your praising review! Good to know our selectiveness when it comes to guides gets noticed! We try and pick licensed guides with a background toward history and art along with a personal affiliation regarding the Vatican state. Avoiding the summer months can indeed result in having a private tour even when booking a small group tour! We will give Maria a pat on the back for her dedication to work and are sure having her read your review will only encourage her continuing doing a great job in the future.

Great Tour - Best way to start Rome Visit
Dec. 2018 • Family
The guide met us about 15 minutes before the start (8:30A), and since our group of 10 people arrived early, we started a few minutes ahead of schedule The guide (Benny) was excellent and she spent the right amount of time on the key sights (since you could spend an entire day there and still not see it all). We saw all everything on our agenda and ended the tour after seeing the crypt under the basilica. Skipping the lines was a great plus. This was a first-rate tour.

Dear Texascid, Thank you for deciding to review our Vatican Small Group Tour on Tripadvisor. We are very glad to hear you had a great time with our guide in the Vatican Museums and you enjoyed visiting the Basilica. Of course, skipping the line is a great plus everywhere, but it is very much so in the Vatican Museums, where the wait in the general line can take hours. We hope you will treasure the memories from your trip to Rome for a long time and we hope to have you again as our client in the future!

Fantastic tour , great guide - Mary.
Oct. 2018 • Family
This tour exceeded all of our expectations, largely due to the knowledge, passion and personality of Mary, our guide, who was wonderful. My family (myself, my wife and two sons - 12 & 14) got so much more out of the tour due to Mary’s insight and couldn’t recommend her highly enough.
The early start is great as you miss the worst of the crowds.
A fantastic tour led by a fantastic guide - thanks Mary.

You don't get to skip the crowds, but our guide--Grace--was fantastic
Sep. 2018 • Couples
Sometimes you can tell when people are walking through the motions or if they are really into what they do. Our guide Grace was definitely in the latter category--an art historian and one of only a couple of hundred Vatican certified guides out there, but you can tell right from the beginning how passionate she is about her craft. The crowds will be there no matter what, but she found a way to guide us through the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St Peters while giving us a ton of history and offering little known tidbits for each place. All these places really need someone knowledgeable to guide you through...you will get so much more from a guided tour, I wouldn't even know where to begin or end if we just went by ourselves. Thank you Grace!
P.S. There is a reason they tell you to be silent and not take pictures in the Sistine Chapel. Have some respect and shut up for five minutes.

Deae bulldog58zn, Thanks for taking the time to review our tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica - we are so glad to hear our guide Grace made the experience so interesting and memorable and we will surely pass your warm compliments to her! P.S. we definitely agree on this point - it is very important to appreciate works of art and have fun, but respect for art and religious places is something that cannot be questioned!

Great tour
May 2018 • Friends
Our tour ended up being just me and my niece in the “group”. Our guide was wonderful. She was engaging and knowledgeable about the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s, artwork and history. Getting in before the crowds is definitely worth the extra cost. Its the second time I’ve done this tour and was worth it both times.

Dear Marjorie G, Thank you for letting us know about the positive outcome of your Vatican Tour with our guide Katia. The Early entrance is indeed a worthy upgrade, since the Vatican museums can be quite crowded in the high season and there is so much to see... we are glad you enjoyed your visit and we hope to hear again from you in the near future!
