Tivoli Day Trip from Rome: Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este
From USD 68.44

Visit the lovely mountain town of Tivoli and explore an emperor’s villa and a gorgeous museum on this all-day tour. After a comfortable ride on an air-conditioned coach, tour Emperor Hadrian’s lavish complex, with its beautiful pools and baths. Learn about the villa’s history from an informative guide and head to Villa d’Este, a 16th-century villa-turned-museum and see its terraced hillside garden and more than half a dozen fountains.

What to Expect

Originally built as his country house, Emperor Hadrian (who ruled Rome from 117 to 138) would eventually govern the empire during the last years of his reign from there. More recently however, the Republic of Italy owns this large Roman archaeological complex. The lavish landscape consists of many opulent pools, baths, fountains and classical Greek architecture.

Have some time to stroll around and enjoy a leisurely lunch before heading over to Villa d’Este, best known for its beautiful terraces. Some other highlights include: the Apartments of the Cardinal , the Gardens and the many elegant fountains – the Oval Fountain, the Hundred Fountains, Fountain of the Dragons, Fountain of the Owl, Organ, and Neptune, to name a few.

Look no further – this is your perfect little getaway from Rome.

Tivoli Totally Top-Notch!

Our excellent guide Giuseppe (a native of Tivoli) was informative, knowledgeable, and highly experienced. His love for the past glories of the Roman people was obvious and infectious. He brought the Hadrian complex to life - descriptions of how things looked, how affairs were conducted,...More

Tivoli Italy is a breath of fresh air!

Giuseppe was an excellent guide since Tivoli was his birthplace. Hadrian's Villa, the largest private residence ever constructed, was immense and came "alive" with Giuseppe's narrative. Villa d'Este and its water pipe organ with fountains driven by gravity alone, and the magnificent rooms is beyond...More

My wife and I made this trip on Thursday last, 26th July, having suffered miserable experiences the previous two days with guided tours of the Vatican and Gallery Borghese with guides from the company City Wonders. Understandably we were somewhat apprehensive but as it turned...More
