- GrafKate0 contributionsGreat tour!It was an amazing experience! We had 2 different guides during this tour: Lucy in Vatican City and Zara in Colosseum&Roman Forum, both of our guides were very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. My husband and I really enjoyed listening to very interesting history of this incredible place.Written 9 November 2024
- 374katrinat0 contributionsTour Of Pompeii Ruins From Rome ReturnGreat way to see the ruins. Our tour leader Mikayla was lovely and very helpful, ensuring we were well looked after. We opted to tour the ruins ourselves, taking the return bus tour from Rome, but I think we may have got more out of the experience if we had opted for the guided tour as the ruins were so vast and we would have had more context to what we were seeing, but still a great experience. Would recommend this company.Written 9 November 2024
- JenSc0 contributionsNot worth the time givenDid not enjoy most of this trip. Driving tour through Naples was pretty, and the lunch served nearby the Pompeii site was very good. Unfortunately, the time alloted was much too short to tour Pompeii. Much more walking than expected, I was unable to keep up the the group, and only got to see the first set of ruins. My husband stayed with group, but said the guide was trying to see as much in 30 minutes, simply not enough time . We were later surprised to find that our bus was taking on another 30 passengers to ride back to Rome with us, it was very cramped. Also thought we had a transfer back to our hotel, but was not the case. Overall, not a fun tour, won't go again.Written 7 November 2024

She was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour so interesting. Despite the crowds we were able to negotiate the Colosseum and Roman Forum with relative ease. Alex was also very helpful and thoughtful helping us with transport to Vatican tour. Vatican tour guide Rosa was also extremely knowledgeable and went out of her way to explain details. The tour was well organised and very enjoyable. Note: lots of walking involved so not recommended for those with limited mobility.Written 3 November 2024

We really appreciated her eagerness for questions, her consideration for the groups needs and her going the extra mile with restaurant recommendations at the end (we tried one for dinner, it was excellent as well). Hop on hop off bus
Mar 2022
We always end to use a hop on hop bus bus when travelling to tourist destinatios as it gives you a chance to orientate yourself to new surroundings and helps you plan of what you want to visit. The Rome tour did not disappoint.
There are ticket marshalls all around the city trying to sell tickets. I was a bit sceptical about handing my card details over as have always paid the driver in other destinations. Tours are bookable online if this makes you feel more comfortable. You are able to purchase the required duration and this isn't commenced untio ticket is activated upon your 1st journey.
The bus appeared clean and conductor issuing tickets were friendly and gave you the channel number of your language and some headsets.
The tour covers all the main sites in Rome and has otyer reviewers have commented that you have to walk across a bridge to Vatican City. Places like the Trevvi and Spanish steps are in pedestrian areas so don't expect not to have a short walk to these attractions.
We purchased a 48hr pass and this suited our plans. I would suggest that your itinerary is planned prior to travel to allow you to purchase the most appropriate tickets for your needs.
The onboard commentry was easy to follow and understand and volume control was easy to use when onboard.
I would definately recommend this tour for a 1st time visit to Rome as it gives you a good insight of what this amazing city has to offer the visitor.
There is also a Red |City sightseeing bus which we have usede in the UK but this service was only running at the weekend when we travelled at the end of March so I would advise that you did your homework prior to travel to avoid disappointment.

One Loop Hop On Hop Off Tour
July 2020
We booked and paid for the afternoon one continuous loop tour at Euro 14 per person and we really enjoyed it. It was the first thing we did after we arrived in Rome and this gave us an idea on where the landmarks were and a feel of Rome. The staff and driver were polite and friendly. We went at the top of the bus and since it was a hot sunny day they opened the canopy and it was really a nice and breezy ride. Please note that with this kind of ticket you cannot go down from the bus and rejoin another bus.

Not worth the money
May 2022
Not worth paying for. The route does not go close to any sights except Colosseum.
We were told that there was a free of charge entry to a museum at stop 5 but the guide could not tell where and 2 other Guides had never heard about it. So, we were cheated.
In general, please be careful about all the many people that want to “help” you to find the right bus…
If you are more people, I recommend a taxi.

Guest Relations Team
Dear guest, we are sorry for your unpleasant experience.
In compliance with some municipal decrees, for security reasons and respecting the pedestrian areas, the buses can't arrive inside some areas, but only get as close as possible.
In other places the bus passes directly in front of the monuments allowing you to enjoy a wonderful view. These rules are valid for everyone, so all tourist buses do the same route.
Thanking you for your review we send you our best regards.

Disgraceful service
Apr 2022
Lots of promises with very little to back them up.
Staff claim that there is a bus every 10 minutes - Really ??? Well my watch must have stopped then.
Because it took us nearly 40 mins to get a bus.
The service provided is pathetic and it was an absolute free for all at the stops, with no queue management and rude and woefully inadequate staff.
On one occasion we were stood at the front of the queue and when the bus pulled up further down from the actual stop, the melee started.
When the staff member was challenged re the queue and us now being at the back, he started to shout at me “what do you expect me to do” over and over again.
“Manage the queue” ….. it really is that simple and of course don’t shout at the customer, because of your own inability.
A comment of “you are in Italy what do you expect” was the final straw. I had been thoroughly impressed with the service and attitude everywhere else, so that just didn’t sit right.
Customer service is diabolical and if I could give this a zero…. I would.
Using the Hop on Hop off, is a great way to get your bearings in a new city, but I’d give this company a wide birth….
Their staff are arrogant, abusive and damn right rude.

Don’t bother. Just don’t bother!!
A hop-on, hop-off tour is a basic way to see a city, but it can be really handy if you only have a few hours to spare. This one is a total nightmare. The hop-on, hop off concept relies on actually having buses in operation on the route. Having been sold two tickets, we then queued for 45 minutes, in the searing heat, to eventually get on one. No information on when one might arrive and whether there was any hope of getting on it. When we finally got on, the ticket attendant was gruff and rude. The commentary is pretty poor and we didn’t risk getting off in case we wouldn’t get a place on another one. It’s less of a tour and more of a lurch from bus stop to bus stop. Just don’t bother.
But Rome, Rome we still ❤️ you. We’ll be back!

We are very sorry you didn't like the experience onboard. For maximum transparency with the customer, our timetable is clearly displayed on the buses, the route is tracked by GPS on the app, the frequency is indicated by the stop sellers and by the on-board attendants.
If you want to give us more info about the ticket attendant please send an email to openbus@graylinerome.it

Great route, great value, exceptional employees
Sept 2023 • Family
In terms of what was advertised, this trip was perfect. We got to see most of the primary sites on the bus. Some, such as the Trevi Fountain, were difficult to reach on foot, but, all in all, it was a good value.
What made our experience outstanding is the care and concern shown to us by your employees, especially Mr. Sifak. We are 3 senior citizens with limited mobility. One of us uses a large walker, and on the first day, at every stop where we got off, Sifak jumped up to help us board and to stow the walker safely. On the second day, he remembered us, and showed the same care and concern. The bus drivers who worked the routes that we took were also extremely helpful (but we did not get their names). All in all, it is your employees who make your tours exceptional.

Great ride on the Hop on Hop off!
May 2023 • Friends
I Love Rome Hop on Hop off was the perfect exposure and audible tour during our visit. It helped get us familiar with the area and the hotspots to visit. hey hand They hand out pink plugin earphones when you initially board but we got on at stop 6 and just used our own which I kept handy throughout our days (highly recommend) in Italy as there are numerous tours that include audible equipment for the translation for English or just being able to hear our guide(s). The tour bus also had wifi which made it great to catchup on missed texts, emails, etc. There was also music in between the points of interest which was lovely and relaxing. When we finished and needed to get back to our hotel, one of their staff in the area was so kind to assist me with getting wifi on my phone from a hotspot he was familiar with so I totally appreciated that. The worst thing is to be stranded and not be able to order a ride from your phone. Thank you so much for a fun experience :-)

We bought the ticket from the termini station and because it was Sunday we got an offer 1+1 free for 22euros and we used it on Monday. The people was kind and helpful, they gave us headphones (earpads) and English channel was clear, loud with many infos. It stops at specific areas at the routes (numbers), one bus every 15-20 minutes. Totally recommend especially if you are traveling to Rome for your first time.

The best option... with children and adults
Dec 2022 • Family
There is no better option to visit the most emblematic and important places in Rome than to do so with the help of these tourist buses, especially going with children or elderly people who find it difficult to walk.
We opted for ILoveRoma (the pink, purple or magnenta buses), with an offer of €120 for 6 people (4 adults and 2 children) for two full days of bus access.
For a normal schedule, without getting up too early and returning to the hotel around 7:00 or 8:00 p.m., it is an ideal option. We stopped every day at 2-3 places to spend several hours in each one, all quite far from each other, such as the Colosseum, the A Vitorio Emanuelle museum and the Vatiano, stopping to eat and visiting the places in detail.
Highly recommended, just point out that some of the buses we rode on are very worn out and need some touch-ups.
Waiting times are not excessive and in our case we are never left on the ground due to excess passengers, as there is good frequency and many buses.

48hr ticket value for money
An ideal way to get your bearings in the city, definitely good value for money for the 48hr ticket, hop on / hop off. There are a few different companies offering the same service in Rome and I might try another next time the reasons being, of the numerous buses we used, the audio wasn’t working at the seat we sat in or was incoherent, one bus we had to get off and wait a half an hour for another one as the audio wasn’t working. They definitely don’t come along every 15 to 20 minutes as suggested and the representatives at the various stops are quite rude when asked when the next bus is due and all have the same answer “in 15 minutes”. There were always maps and headphones available which was a good point. The audio content is pretty limited and the buses definitely need the audio systems checked for operability.

Dear Bennett,
thank you for your review.
We are happy to know you have rated the price suitable for your needs.
For what concern the audio you could ask to the onboard assistant who is onboard also to help the customer for all your needs.
The sellers at the stops are independent; our authorized personnel is distinguished by wearing our company logos, provides with education and patience the correct information about waiting times and is informed about various issues that can lengthen the frequency time of buses.
On the exact day you traveled the bus had problems with air conditioning, in these cases so you need to drop off the tourists and recharge on the next bus; this can cause delays in the times that, under normal conditions, are 15 minutes as rightly advertised.
Anyway thak you for your opinion.
Best Regards

You pay extra for hopping on/off and for multiple days and you take your chances that you can hop back on….more like wait and wait then cram on the bottom and wait and wait to go up top. We were glad we only did the cheap no hopping ride

Good day ....me and my fiance land in rome at 8.30 am and we,d like to.make use of your hop on and hop off bus tour ...tell me if we book it can we get on at point or do we have to get on a certain point ?.....also does the bus have any stops close to the gemini guest house as we'll be staying there and wanted to make sure that one of the stop is close enough at the end of the tour?
Written 6 January 2020
You can get on (or off!) at any of the stops - you can buy the ticket on the bus or in advance. You will have to check a map of the route to see how close any of the stops are to the Gemeni guest house
Written 6 January 2020
I'm trying to buy tickets online but can't find good descriptions of the different tour options. Does anyone know what the difference between the 5 hour open tour and the panoramic daily tour is?
Written 24 November 2019
I think the panoramic just allows you one complete tour on the hop on hop off. The other tickets give you unlimited stops to view what you want and the hop back on. The complete tide is a little over two hours
