Taste items like fried risotto balls, called arancini, and the street food favorite, frittata di pasta. Then, admire the architecture along Naples’ historic main street: the Spaccanapoli. Stroll through Piazza del Gesu, learning about sights, such as the Santa Chiara Church, Piazza Bellini, and the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella. Make your way past the artisan workshops of the San Gregorio Armeno enclave, where nativity scenes are famously made, and then continue to savor more treats like mozzarella, taralli (savory cookies from Southern Italy), and pizza, of course. This excellent tour will make you feel what it was like to live as a Roman in Pompeii more than 2000 years ago
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this excellent guided tour that will make you feel what it was like to live as a Roman in Pompeii more than 2000 years ago. Our guide and archaeologist Lello was very charismatic, knowledgeable and entertaining - a great story teller. There were around 9 people on the tour and it was well organised. Highly recommend.

Go the small group as it’s more intimate…..POMPEII
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Pompeii Small Group Tour with LILO. We had 2 other couples in the group and from start to finish LILO kept us informed and entertained. LILO’S knowledge of Pompeii was excellent and I came away with a better understanding of the history of Pompeii. It is hot at this time of year so wear a hat, take water and wear sunscreen. Two hours was ideal to get a good overview. You need to escape the heat after that. Thank you LILO.

    Great tour
We had a great experience on this tour. We signed up knowing that this was a group tour with up to 16 people but ended up having a private tour with just my family. our tour guide, Allesandro, was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. He took the time to show us things we were intersted in and was able to dodge the large crowds in many instances. With just the 3 of us on the tour, we spent 2.5 hours with us. Also, I needed to contact the tour operator about a timing issue and I got a quick response. I would recommend this tour if you are interested in seeing the Pompeii ruins.

Terrific guide, group of 11, ruins are spectacular
Our archaeologist guide was terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed his narrative. He gets 5 stars. The instructions on how to meet up with our group gets Viator 3 stars. The directions where to meet the guide were not very clear. The hotel was under renovation, the coffee shop is on the outside of the hotel and is not easily identified. We were the first of 11 people in our group to arrive. I believe others had the same difficulty as we did. We were late starting because of this.

    Really Great Tour
This tour provided us with ear phones which worked perfectly. I booked it on my phone on the way to Pompeii riding the Circumvesuviana. I did NOT want to buy a ticket at the gate or get a guide there. I'm so happy with this company. The one I used for Herculano did Not provide earphones, so it was hard to hear during that tour. Also this guides English was wonderful.

    Best way to experience Pompeii
We booked this tour with Getyourguide having just a morning stay planned for Pompeii. Ciara was our guide and she was knowledgeable. Was impressed by the size of Pompeii and she did a good job explaining things. Showed us most of the important areas and yet had enough time to roam on our own. Would recommend.

This is the only way to visit the site. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and entertaining. He focused the tour on the most important aspects of the site but also gave us pointers to other areas to explore if we wanted to spend more time.

    Professional and passionate
Lelo was entertaining, warm and enthusiastic and those qualities only enhanced the magnetism to his knowledge and passion for Pompeii! Full of information, stories and insights we felt we were given a behind the scenes, little known access to the wonders and mysteries that is Pompeii

Archeologist and retired teacher, the best!
Lelo was absolutely amazing! He was knowledgeable and funny, and made sure to make our experience feel small and intimate in a place overrun by tourists (barbarians!). We learned so much in a short time. I highly, highly recommend this tour with Lelo. He is a retired teacher and makes the tour interactive and fun.

The man! The myth! The LEGEND!
BEYOND AMAZING!! our tour guide (local celebrity and professor) was one of the best we have had on any tour (my partner is an adventure guide in his country so is very hard to impress!) lol our guide was knowledgeable, interesting, had tons of character and banter with the group. He had so much respect for the ruins and ensured our experience was not negatively effected by other tourists (aka barbarians) hahaha! I would highly recommend this tour and would do it again as it was so fascinating. We had another couple who had done the exact same tour with this guide years ago! Just to give you an idea of his knowledge! Without our guide we would of missed out on so much, our Pompeii experience was made by our guide and we have been smiling since it ended. Fantastic price, helpful with directions to explore the ruins more after the tour ended. Thank you so much for a great experience! From Shelby and Mikey.

We signed up for the tour last minute as Naples can seem fairly overwhelming if you don't know what to do/where to go!

We met at Piazza Bellini which was very easy to find and from there embarked on an historic tour of the old town. Our tour guide, Alex, was FANTASTIC and I was really happy that he included not just information around the food of Naples but also snippets of history, Neapolitan tradition, folklore, religion etc. We learnt a lot and Alex was truly wonderful, very entertaining, you can tell he knows his stuff but is also a real performer, his words were both insightful and humorous. (As a side, Alex also made some further recommendations at the end of the tour for what to do in Naples and we took a lot of his advice and had a great time!).

But the food! Wow! I didn't expect to be absolutely stuffed by the end of the tour- skip breakfast and prepare to not need an evening meal afterwards. We had fresh mozzarella, bread & antipasti, a nut cookie, frittatini, pizza, limoncello, sfogliatelli, rum baba and gelato and not small portions of any I must add 😋 it was truly fantastic!

Drinks are not included but were not overpriced, with an option to buy at every stop. Alex also welcomed us having alcohol if we wanted and, very importantly, Alex was very diligent regarding food allergies (I am allergic to nuts) and made sure I was safe throughout the tour.

Overall could not recommend more highly, one of the best tours I have done in any city really made by Alex (I could listen to him do a tour about paint drying and still enjoy it!).

Great experience. The guide, Mario, was perfect, helpful and competent, he guided us to discover the typical flavors and traditions of Naples. The group was linguistically heterogeneous, but the guide in both English and Italian was able to perfectly entertain the participants. Tasting pizza, fried pizza, taralli, sfogliatelle, baba and more time passed quickly.

Wow fantastic food walk today. Can sooo recommend Culinary Backstreets as a group with a great philosophy of out of way places to experience the true tastes and food traditions of a city. (Found in about twenty cities around the world) Little bit rainy at time but didn't dampen our enthusiasm to eat.🤣 Chiara and Amedeo were wonderful guides.

My partner and I really enjoyed this food tour! We felt like it was good value for our money as we tried lots of different foods which were all good portion sizes. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She also made a great effort to accomodate to everyone’s allergies, including a lady who was pregnant and someone who did not drink alcohol. She made sure everyone had a substitute option and didn’t make anyone feel like an inconvenience which as someone with a lot of allergies, I greatly appreciated. We also got to learn about the history of the food which was wonderful. We enjoyed walking through the city as we tried a variety of foods. Overall, 10/10 experience!

The Street Food tour in Naples, Italy was a wonderful experience. Our guide Sara not only expertly described the different foods and their history, she was a wealth of information about the history of Naples and places to see. Her English was excellent and she always made sure that everyone in the group stayed together in the very crowded streets so that nobody got lost and that everyone had the opportunity to sample the various foods and drinks. It was a highlight of our cruise!

This was a really interesting way to learn more about Naples. There is a lot of eating involved and, while of course you don't need to eat it all, it was all delicious and worth the feeling of being over full for an afternoon! I would really suggest you don't eat much before unless you have an enormous appetite.

Our tour was slightly marred by the torrential rain that struck the Naples area for three days when I was there. However it was still enjoyable if as much of an obstacle course of trying to avoid getting your eye poked out by an umbrella - as a street food tour. I understand this weather is unusual.

We began in the Piazza Bellini - it was easy to find the group but that may have been becuase the square was empty due to the the weather conditions. More precise guidance about where in the squre the meeting point is may be helpful at busier times.

We met with our guide Daniela who was lovely and so knowleageable. As well as explaining to us details about the food itself, she was extremely well-versed in the history of Naples and we learnt about so much more than just food. She was extremely kind and helpful in every way and happy to answer questions. She spoke excellent English and was clear in her explanations. I would thoroughly recommend her as a guide.

As I said, food was more than enough - all Neapolitan specialities - meats and cheese board, pizza, fried pizza, limoncello for those who drink alcohol, rum baba, sfogliatelle, gelato. A nice mix of sweet and savoury.

The tour took you round a small part of Naples but Daniela was very helpful in directing people to other important sights.

Another tip (no pun intended) - this may be obvious to some but in these days of contactless payments, is to remember to bring change. I have made a conscious effort to take actual money with me on trips to tip these lovely guides where merited. On this occasion, I had switched bags becuase of the rain and found myself unable to tip the very well deserved Daniela. My sincere apologies to her as she deserved it.

Alex was our tour guide and he was incredible. He was kind, inclusive and very funny...we had such a great time on our tour. We ate loads of Naples specific food while hearing about the interesting history and culture of the city. He clearly has roots in the city, and knows all of its quirks and charms. The tour includes a lot of foods, so I recommend you go hungry. While we didn't have our kids with us on this tour, it is certainly suitable for young kids in buggy or slightly older kids with big appetites. We 100% recommend booking this tour with Alex as he is beyond a pro!

We set off on a hot day on the Naples Food Tour with Daniela as our guide. This guide receives a lot of praise on TA so I was delighted to have her as the designated guide. We followed her through laneways from one eatery to another - sometimes we sat, sometimes we gathered around a small hole in the wall counter. Daniela talked about the type of foods, their origins and histories, their manufacturing process. All the while, we were given amusing commentary on the meaning of different facial expressions and gestures that the Neapolitans use to express themselves without words.

The food was plentiful and as described. My favourites were the Margarita pizza, the limoncello and the gelato.

My husband and I had a great time on this tour. It was exactly what we thought it would be - lots of food with some information about Naples peppered in. Our guide Daniella was AMAZING!! She really made the tour spectacular. She’s so funny, engaging and full of life and she she gets you excited about Naples and its culture and traditions. We had a bunch of different antipasti, buffalo mozzarella, pizza margarita, fried pizza, fried pasta, limoncello (we don’t drink, so we had lemon biscuits which were delicious), two desserts plus gelato or coffee. We were stuffed by the end. We’re vegetarians and we got substitutions wherever needed and it was fantastic and delicious, no trouble at all. There are two stops where you sit down, which is nice in the summer heat. The group wax 12 people from all over the world. It was really nice group of people. At the end, Daniella made sure everyone knew how to get where they needed to go and also made suggestions for other things to do in Naples and it’s surroundings. Thank you Daniella for sharing your city with us! We had a great time and would definitely recommend this tour.

Sarah our guide was excellent, navigating a small group through the busy streets of the old town to many places that serve Napolese street food. It was a great introduction to Naples itself, the food picked was excellent and Sarah’s enthusiasm for her city shone through.

She also left some personal recommendations of favourite places to eat. We’ve tried a couple and they are both excellent.

We would thoroughly recommend it,
