After free time for lunch (own expense), continue to Figueres, the 1904 birthplace of surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Great guide in riot
Nov. 2019
The tour is wonderful...Girona is beautiful, and if you like Game of thrones, you will thrill to the views....perhaps even follow other members of your party up a long stair case saying "Shame" over and over again.
The Dali Museum was also a great visit. All good, all well worth it.
What made our visit special was our guide.
On the way back from Figueres, the city where the Dali Museum is, we got caught in a demonstration that blocked the highway in both directions, including a bonfire made of tire. (The demonstration was for Catalonian independence) We were trapped on the bus for 7 hours, finally rescued when the fire department of Salt evacuated us to their activity center gymnasium, where they had water and sandwiche, and blankets.
The tour should have got us back about 7 PM, but the new bus that picked us up got us back at about 5 am the next morning.
Our guide was tremendous...he talked to the protestor about letting us through, then walked to the closest grocery store and grabbed food for the bus, and passed it out himself. He was calm and in control the whole time.
The company worked overtime, also, getting us a new bus, driven up late at night to rescue us back to the city, avoiding the freeway, which was full of protestors and parked cars.
The city of Salt's fire department and Civil Protection deserves a great thank you, as does the guide and Julia Travel. They all took care of us in one way or another!

Dali with no crowds
Feb. 2020
February is definitely the best time of year to go. Even our guide Layela said it was weird to be so empty but that meant we could move through with ease. Girona was a beautiful little city and so was Figueres. The guides made very certain that everyone knew how to get back to the bus after the free time. I'm not sure you could have the free time we had if it weren't for being able to move through the museum easily. The guide even went down the isle of the bus to answer everyone's individual questions. She also policed those that were talking over her instructions so everyone could hear. Great excursion that was well organized

Day trip to Girona and Figueres
Jan. 2020
We loved Girona, and enjoyed walking in the old city. Excellent Girona guide who was clearly proud of her city. A few GOT sights were pointed out by the guide, and we found the rest easily on the web. It's worth the trip to see the Dali museum, which we loved. The bus guide was very knowledgeable about Dali and helped us to appreciate his work. The bus itself was cramped, but tolerable. Be careful, the return station is not the same as the starting point, although they are not very far apart.

Informative and cost-effective excursion to see Girona and Dalí’s Museum in Figueres
Dec. 2019 • Solo
This day-trip coach bus excursion from Barcelona is a great way to see the old part of Girona, including its Roman walls, cathedral, and film locations for Game of Thrones, as well as explore the Dalí museum in a former theatre in Figueres. The highlight was the special exhibit of Dalí jewels, and an entry ticket to this special exhibit is included in this excursion. The guide was knowledgeable and easily understood, and we used small over-the-ear devices throughout most of the tour so the large group could all hear the information. Lunch is on your own in Girona. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from, and just the right amount of free time in Girona to walk atop the Roman walls or explore some of the small museums. After an introduction to the Dalí museum in the courtyard and main lobby in Figueres, the guide leaves you to freely explore the exhibits, which have very little explanatory notes because Dalí wanted each person to interpret his work on their own terms. The guide did point out some don’t-miss highlights for those who might get overwhelmed by the scads of artwork by Dalí, collected by Dalí, or inspired by Dalí.

The Perfect Way to See Both
Jan. 2020
Originally, I was going to go to both Girona and Figueres independently via train. Am I glad I didn't. While both towns are interesting, this tour was the best way to hit up both and see everything you need to see with time to spare. The tour guides I had (both named Christina ... I think) were wonderful and helpful — and most importantly, very funny.
Please note that this is a LONG trip, so you'll have to block out a day to do it. For the price, it's totally worth it.

Fabulous Day
Dec. 2019 • Family
It started with a bit of chaos. The bus was disorganized. However, once we got to Girona, everything changed. The town was adorable and interesting. Our guide Cristina was funny and informative. The Dali museum was even better. The museum itself is excellent but our guide Alex genuinely loved discussing Dali. Well worth it

Fun day trip... totally worth it!
Dec. 2019 • Family
My family (husband, 2 teens) and I had such a great time on this tour! Our tour guides had excellent knowledge of the sites we saw at our destinations as well as things we saw on the way to and from our destinations.
The tour contained the right amount of people... not too many... and it was great to have the ear pieces so that we did not all have to pile up around the guides.
Girona was beautiful! We learned all about its history AND we saw several Game of Thrones sites (which... as fans.. was a pleasant surprise!)
The Dali museum was fabulous! Even if you’re not a Dali fan it’s hard not to be impressed with the creativity of his work. We also saw his jewelry exhibit... which surprisingly turned out to be one one of our family’s favorites!
The duration of the tour, at first glance, seems long but it’s so well broken up that you don’t really feel like you’ve been out all day. There was plenty of time for food and rest breaks and general wandering around. The balance of structure and downtime was perfect for teenagers!
I would highly recommend this tour!!

Great day trip
Sep. 2019
I have never been a big Dali fan, but I am now. The museum is really interesting. My only complaint is that it was really crowded. We went in September and there were multiiple busses and school groups there. We drove from Barcelona. A nice drive.
