About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- S6429JPcarinad0 contributionsGreat tour guide and driver! Highly recommend this tour of beautiful Toledo! Our travel guide was Sonia and right from the start she was friendly, accommodating, and tailored our tour according to our group’s needs and preferences. She was also our personal photographer during the tour! She was very knowledgeable about the history of Toledo where she is from, thorough in her explanations of events and places, and supplemented her tour with pictures from her iPad from her research. I highly recommend the charming and personable Sonia to anyone who wants to learn about the Jewish, Muslim and Catholic history of beautiful Toledo. Special thanks to Javier who was our driver for the trip to Toledo. He was on time for pick-up and drop-off to our meeting place. He pointed out areas of interest while driving through the city of Madrid.Written 14 January 2025
- graemea4650 contributionsTHE BEST tour of Toledo.I don't think it is possible to praise this tour of Toledo highly enough. Our guide - Javier Rodriguez - is, without doubt, one of the BEST tour guides we have ever had. His knowledge of the City is just enclopedic but presented in an accessible and witty manner that is as charming as it is informative. He took time always to ask what we wanted to see, giving us options so that we could decide, with his advice, no only where to visit, but also where to eat and what to see once the tour ended. His knowledge extended not only to the buildings, like the amazing Cathedral, but also to a detailled knowledge of the history and paintings that rivalled that of any Art Historian. Whilst in Toledo you must, for example, explore the works of "El Greco", an artist I was already aware of. But Javier's descriptions of these masterpieces gave us an insight and understand that I could not have imagined without this tour. Toledo is an amazing and fascinating town, with a complex history that takes a great deal of understanding. Javier presented all of this in a way that was intelligent, educated and informative - but easy to comprehend. And in perfect English! He is, just the perfect tour guide and really made our, all too brief, visit to Toledo just perfect.Written 14 January 2025
- anamarimatanzo0 contributionsBest way to visit ToledoWe only had one day to visit Toledo and decided to take the private day tour including the pick up at our place we Airbnb in Madrid. Our driver Willy gave us many insights during our our one hour drive to Toledo. In Toledo we met Lidia, a native from Toledo who knew everything about this lovely and impressive medieval town. She truly knows how to explain the complexity and the diversity of Toledo throughout its history. We loved it! Really recommend it…Written 12 January 2025
- tomgE7197NV0 contributionsFantastic tour guide and fantastic tour experienceSonia was amazing! She's super-knowledgeable, she welcomes questions, and she's a delight to be around. Our group of 4 couldn't have been happier with her.Written 10 January 2025
- 625franciscom0 contributionsAwesome walking tour in Toledo with Lidia. Our Toledo walking tour guide, Lidia, was excellent. Very knowledgeable of Toledo’s history, its people and its architecture. We were a group of 7, with two kids in tow. Lidia made sure the kids understood what they were experiencing. The 3 hour walking tour went by very fast. Toledo needs a least 3 days to visit all of its historic places and museums. Lidia also offers her tour service in other major, historic cities in Spain. Highly recommended.Written 4 January 2025

- alil3030 contributionsA wonderful day in Toledo with CarlosMy family had a wonderful time in Toledo with Carlos as our private guide. He had endless knowledge about the area and kept us all engaged to learn about the rich, religious history. He ended up customizing the tour on the spot for us, which made it even more enjoyable. Before the tour, Carlos was responsive and communicative and made the planning a smooth process. I highly recommend visiting Toledo and booking Carlos as your guide - he is a true gem!Written 31 December 2024
- devd8050 contributionsAmazing experience with local Toledo GuideWe had Carlos as our tour guide in English. He was extremely well trained and knowledgeable about everything in Toledo, and was very passionate about the history of the sites since he was a local. We especially loved the Cathedral Primada and the viewpoints of the city he took us to. Our driver Nico, was super professional and helpful. He helped with all our luggage and was on time for both our pickup and drop off. Would definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting ToledoWritten 26 December 2024
- fahdimam0 contributionsAmazing tour!!Carlos was simply awesome!!! We were 13 in total, 6 adults and 7 kids, Carlos made us feel like family and kept our tour tailored to our needs and priorities. He is very knowledgeable, fluent in 4 languages, including Japanese. Uses iPad to describe in detail the city, its monuments and highlights!! Loved the tour, thank you so much Carlos!Written 23 December 2024
- Sherpa4695470 contributionsMemorable Toledo! Our Toledo tour was truly memorable. Upon arriving outside the city walls, we were greeted by our local guide, Sonia, for a quick stopover to see the magnificent view of the entire city. Inside, It was our first time to see a synagogue influenced by 3 religions (Moors, Jews and Catholic). Fascinating, indeed! Sonia was so energetic and very passionate in explaining Spain’s history. thank you so much for our tour guide, Sonia, for making it happen.Written 23 December 2024
- ek_sellers0 contributionsExcellent experience with Natalia as our guide! We had a great experience with Natalia as our guide! She met us at the train station and organized a taxi to take us to the panoramic views of the town and into the old town. She has lived in Toledo her whole life and was very knowledgeable. At the beginning of the tour, she asked us to mention anything specific we would like to see and tailored the tour to our interests. We stopped into a synagogue and the main cathedral along our walk across the city. She then recommended a place for lunch and activities and places to visit for the rest of our day here. I think three hours was the perfect amount of time to get a general overview of the city, plus ask as many questions as we liked. This company and experience was very organized, and we cannot recommend Natalia enough!Written 20 December 2024
- Donna F0 contributionsAsk for Sonia!Sonia is an excellent guide! She cheerfully accommodated an hour train delay arriving in Toledo and gave us the full three hour tour. Sonia has deep knowledge and insight. Covered the two synagogues and cathedral, plus a special spot that not all guides can access. Even offered restaurant suggestions for our next stop.Written 9 December 2024
- OldAndHip0 contributionsA Wonderful Private TourMy wife and I just had an excellent tour with Destino Toledo. Our guide was Javi, nephew of the owner. It turns out that this is a family business, which is something that is important to me. (I find that family businesses really take ownership of what they do.) The positive experience actually started in the planning phases. I emailed back and forth with Pablo, who took the basic plan that I suggested, and created a tour around those desired sites. His suggestions were excellent, but he said that once we were on the tour, that we could tweak it to fit exactly what we wanted. We did a 4 hour walking tour with Javi which included an in-depth visit to the main cathedral, the city's Jewish Quarter, and extensive walking of the labyrinth streets of this old city. In each place we visited, Javi's knowledge of the history and day-to-day life really brought the town, historic and current, to life. His understanding of the historical intertwining of the people, the multiple religions, and government-church power balance and ego gave us a keen understanding of why certain events happened throughout history. Javi's love for Toledo is apparent in his tour. The enthusiasm and depth of understanding he shows really made this a very special tour. He and Pablo were full of recommendations for different places to eat around town, which we took advantage of after our tour was over. We highly recommend Javi and Destino Toledo. All tours should be this good.Written 8 December 2024
- 909ayakan0 contributionsThe best tour to learn about the history of beautiful ToledoMy husband and I booked a private 2 hour walking tour with Javi and let me tell you that was the best tour I've been on, ever. Javi is someone who you feel that you've known him forever after talking with him for a few minutes because of his warmth and friendliness. He also has a terrific sense of humor. He is from Toledo, and has a long family lineage to this ancient capital of Spain, which made the tour even more special. He has extensive knowledge of history, culture and art of Toledo ( and beyond -- he has master's degree in Japanese culture and history!), and gave us unique and in-depth insights that we would not have been able to glean otherwise. It was like a tour led by a history teacher. The cathedral was absolutely amazing and awe-inspiring, and we could've easily spent the whole day exploring just that. We then saw El Greco's masterpiece at St. Tome church. Javi gave us a lot of details of the incredibly painting and El Greco's life that we again would not have understood had it not been for his expert knowledge. He then took us around the city with a quick stop to an underground ancient well which was such a fun and unique experience. He even extended the tour so he could show us more sights. What I appreciated the most was Javi's love and deep appreciation for his hometown. I really wish that I'd planned to stay there longer and explore more because it's such a beautiful, special place. If you're looking for a tour that's informative, fun, and is tailored to your interests, look no further, this is it! I would give 10 stars if I could.Written 7 December 2024

We took the train from Madrid to Toledo and were met at the train station. Before going into the city Enrique showed it to us from across the river and explained the history and features from that perspective. We had a couple of stops that gave us great photo opportunities and allowed us to take in the geography and layout.
Our walking tour took us through the Jewish quarter to the synagogue and to excavations that have limited access. Another highlight is the Cathedral, which is beautiful, and which Enrique explains with passion. He is very knowledgeable and obviously loves his hometown.
The pace was comfortable and all of our questions were answered. The time went by very quickly. We had lunch at an excellent restaurant recommended by Enrique.
The tour runs three hours, and is spent mostly walking or standing, so make sure to wear good walking shoes.

What a wonderful experience! Our guide Diego was the best! We took the 30 minute train from Madrid and started our tour at 3:17pm from the train station. We read that an afternoon tour of the city allows one to avoid the crowds and see Toledo at night...stuningly beautiful. Our Toledo docent, Diego, met us at the station. He was very attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and accomodating. As we waited for our taxi, Diego, a Toledo native, explained the history of the train station. On the panoramic taxi ride with fantastic views of the city, he narrated the history of the landmarks. From the explanation of the fortified city surrounded by it's natural "moat" to the supportive wife who burned the bridge to hide the mistake of her architect husband, each site had its story. We were able to stop at our hotel to leave our luggage (Hotel Santa Isabel was perfect!) and then off to tour the Cathedral. Diego was so knowledgeable...it was fascinating! Later it was off to the Jewish Quarter for an amazing tour. We ended at the Plaza de Zocodovar. We had cocktails, dinner, and dessert at three different restaurants. We were able to see El Greco's Condé de Orgaz at 10am, as Diego recommended, and were able to beat the crowds. A little time for shopping, and on the train back to Madrid by noon. A magical overnight stay in Toledo, thanks to Diego!!!

Our guide Fernando was amazing. He took us all through the old city, giving us perspective on all the amazing art and history of the city. I am glad we booked the private tour, it was nice to be able to go into some smaller areas and work around the crowded areas. I would highly recommend Fernando. He was able to get a feeling of our families interest and make the tour feel special for us.

Javi made this experience & tour magical ! A tour guide is definitely needed for Toledo. This amazing place is full of history but most importantly is huge ; therefore a tour guide like Javi can help you navigate the confusing streets and make sure you don’t miss important information. Javi was amazing , I highly recommend him to everyone. He was patient , very fluent in English, kind, and informative! He made sure we had our transportation back to Madrid , treated us to sample some treats, and led us to this amazing Mediterranean restaurant ❤️

Toledo is a must see!
Our tour guide Sonia greeted us warmly at the train station, and took us on a tour we will never forget! Her passion, and knowledge of the city with its historical significance brought the town to life. If we had to pick a favorite - it would be the stop at church to see El Greco painting The Burial of Count Orgaz. Sonia captivated our attention with fascinating details, and description of images portrayed. The day was filled with discoveries, thanks to our tour guide, Sonia. Toledo is an amazing city and the time we spent with Sonia listening to her stories of life in Toledo over the centuries left an impression we will remember always!

We had a really nice experience on this tour with our guide Enrique. He met us at the train station and took us straight to the most picturesque views of Toledo, which were nothing short of stunning. Once inside the city, Enrique was full of knowledge as he showed us significant, historical sites, and walked us all through town. We were engaged, learned a lot, and had a great time. I highly recommend this tour.

We had an unforgettable experience on the eight-hour private guided tour of Toledo, starting with a seamless pickup from our hotel in Madrid. Our driver, Mario, was extremely professional, friendly, and punctual. The drive was smooth, comfortable, and he even provided us with bottled water, which was a thoughtful touch.
Once in Toledo, our guide Sonia truly elevated the tour. She was an absolute fountain of knowledge, sharing the rich history of the city and the country with such passion and depth. Her love for Toledo was contagious! Sonia not only took us to all the main attractions but also personalized the tour by accommodating our request to visit an artisan Toledo steel factory. Her flexibility and attention to detail were impressive. She went above and beyond by suggesting excellent local places to eat and shop, making our visit even more special.
Communication with the company, Sonia, and Mario was flawless throughout the entire process, from booking (even at the last minute!) to post-tour follow-up. The whole experience was perfectly organized, and we felt well taken care of at every step.
We highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a deep dive into Toledo’s history with the comfort of a private experience. It’s well worth it! Thank you for making our day so memorable!

This was one of the best tours we had. Manuel , a native of Toledo, promptly met us at Toledo train station and proceeded to give us the most fun and educational tour of fairytale Toledo. He first took us on a taxi ride to show us the best views of the city and took wonderful pictures of our family. We then proceeded with a walking tour covering the most important points of interest in the city. All along, Manuel was sharing fascinating facts about history of Toledo and Spain, demonstrating his knowledge and passion for the city. He paced the tour really well and we were able to cover a lot in 3 hours. At the end of the tour, Manuel provided us with great recommendations for where to have lunch, buy souvenirs and grab a taxi back to the train station. Our teens who normally don’t like guided tours really enjoyed themselves and couldn’t stop talking about Toledo and how much they liked Manuel. Highly recommend this tour and our great tour guide, Manuel.

Our family of four adults had a private tour with Sonia. We really enjoyed this experience which started with a taxi ride around the outskirts of the city to take in the incredible views and then a walking tour of the city. As a local Sonia gave us so much information on Toledo (both past and present) that we would not have otherwise learned on our own or in a large our group. She even made us a lunch reservation at one of her favorite restaurants as we had not thought to do this prior to our visit. We cannot recommend this tour enough. It was excellent.
