We absolutely loved this experience! It was so much fun to go to the market to shop for fresh ingredients and then go to the gastronomy club for an incredible dinner. We learned so much about Basque culture, recipes, wines and dessert too! Our chef Ben and our guide Iker made the evening so special and we were made to feel very much at home in gorgeous San Sebastian. We aboslutely recommend this experience when you visit San Sebastian. Our day with Iker was incredible. He tailored the experience to our interests, and managed to pack in a ton of sights and activities, while never making us feel rushed—which felt like magic. His Basque heritage and deep knowledge of history and culture brought the region to life, and we loved hearing about the layered stories of each place throughout time. We only had a 1 day tour, but I would happily spend a week with Iker listening to his stories, seeing the Basque countryside through his eyes, and spending time with him. Can’t recommend him highly enough!

Excellent professional guide with Basque tours along the coastline. Our guide had a breath of knowledge about the Basque history. We had an awesome time in San Sebastián and the Basque Country with Iker and Gorka! Iker led our group on a lovely walking tour of San Sebastián and along the way taught us about the gastronomical culture of the region. He tailored his pintxos tour to our group’s tastes and dietary needs. The highlight in San Sebastián was a cooking class that Iker coordinated for us where we cooked some traditional Basque dishes and dessert. Iker was extremely friendly and helpful throughout, and he ensured that we had a phenomenal time. Gorka took our trip on a multi-day excursion that spanned the French-Basque coastline (visiting places like Biarritz and Saint Jean de Luz) as well as visiting numerous wineries in the Rioja region. Gorka was a fantastic guide – he had a great sense of humor, was exceptionally knowledgeable about all of the areas we visited, made great recommendations for various places to eat, and always made sure our group was taken care of and having a good time. With the help of Basque Guides, we were able to do so much on our visit to the Basque Country and it was the highlight of our trip across Spain and Portugal. We highly recommend Basque Guides to anyone visiting the area.

Iker was an amazing tour guide. He was very flexible with our schedule and adapted the tour to our interests as we explored with him. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable of the Basque region, but he is extremely well-traveled in general and was happy to tell us things he had learned traveling the world as we asked him questions. It’s clear that he loves doing what he does, and is eager to make sure you have a great experience with him.

Íker, Andoni and the rat do a great job planning and executing the tour. I had a chance to visit Bilbao, Biarritz and St Jean de Luz, with of course a fantastic visit to San Sebastián during the Basque Games, allowing to watch the regatta and a Pintxos tour.

One of the very best guides we’ve had in over 5 decades of traveling in Europe. Jaime made the tour an absolute delight in all respects. He was knowledgeable about the history of the region, brought that history to life, and delighted us with both his own personal stories and his intense love of his Basque people. We saw many beautiful places we’d have never discovered on our own and explained the geological and environmental history of what we were seeing. He made sure we ate great food and got a real sense of the “vibe” of the region. I can’t recommend him enough.

My husband and I spent 4+ hours with Iker and every minute of it was worthwhile. Iker shared a wealth of knowledge and experiences with us about Basque history, culture, geography, politics, food, art and more. He easily adjusted the tour as he got to know us better and what our interests were including allowing plenty of time for photography. We spent over 2 hours inside and outside the Guggenheim Museum which gave us a genuine appreciation of the decision to build the museum, the meaning of the architecture and design as well as the artwork within, Just fabulous!
