      A revisit after 64 years.
Heidelberg is a beautiful city. I have so many memories of four visits I made as a teenager in the late 1950s. My visit in December 2024 was my first in 64 years! The Altstadt or old town, flanked by the River Neckar and the Heidelberg Castle on the hillside, is beautiful. Hauptstrasse (main street), is the longest pedestrian street in Germany. It was lively, full of shops and restaurants. The Christmas Markets that were located on the street were wonderful. Beautiful squares around the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Corn Market were just two. The illuminated Castle added to the magic. Crossing the iconic Alt Brűcke, walking on Philosophers Way, taking the funicular to the Castle and a cruise on the River Neckar made this visit so memorable.

      Enjoyable trip to the Rhineland.
We enjoyed the trip. I’m sure it’s much more popular when it’s warmer, but the offseason gave us a more intimate tour with only one other couple. We were able to make more stops for pictures. Our guide was excellent. He was funny and knowledgeable and gave us a very good experience. I noticed several lukewarm reviews on the food. It certainly wasn’t the best meal I’ve had, but it was okay. The restaurant deserves mention as it was full of TONS of nautical decor. You really have to see it to believe it. The owner was friendly. I’m not at all a wine connoisseur (snob), so I enjoyed the wine tasting. All in all, an enjoyable trip.

      Not a recommended trip
Worst packaged tour in Germany. The tour got cancelled once in want of minimum count of passengers, then when it was accepted, that day one passenger did not turn up, the whole team waited for 1 hour till it was found that the passenger will never come. Due to Christmas rush, we did not visit the fair, we rushed to places as it was getting dark. The cab driver wanted to recover the quota of tip from only 2 of us as other 2 did not turn up. Overall very bad experience. I will suggest people to carry enough cash to tip.

      Rhine on a rainy day
Guide was good, bus ride was very good, food and wine tasting was bland and tasteless. Overall scenic beauty is excellent and could enjoy money's worth

      A fun outing!
We had been traveling on our own to various Christmas markets and needed a day off from navigating. I enjoyed meeting the other travelers and listening to Michael’s entertaining narration. The cruise portion of our day was only 1.5 hours, with the rest being in a comfortable tour van. The highlight for me was the stop at the market at Rüdesheim. (Only during Christmas season)

      Very misleading
This was very misleading. We thought we were having dinner or lunch on the boat and being on the boat for at least four hours, but this was not the case. We actually ate at a restaurant where the boat docked which had horrible food. We were actually only on the boat about one hour. Very disappointing. We did not get to go off the boat and go touring the little city. Way too expensive for the things that were offered.

Not What I Was Hoping For
Heidelberg was nice and the castle was interesting, but we really didn’t get to see much of either and the tour itself seemed disorganized. By the end of it there were only 8 of the 22 people on the tour that stuck with the guide. If it weren’t for the nice people we met that were also on the tour, my mom and I would have probably gone off on our own, too. Honestly, for the price, I’d skip this tour and just get there yourself if you really want to see the castle and town.

      Very informative
Wonderfully informative guide and a good variety of things to see. We had a few stops to get off the bus and take some photos, and never felt rushed to get back to the bus. This was an easy, informative, low activity tour which was perfect for my travel buddy on this trip. We had a lot of fun.

      Stress free/ great guide
We had a knowledgeable and patient guide; Peter was fantastic. The giant wine barrel was undergoing construction, but still available to tour. The pharmacy museum is small and very well done. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather as the day was mostly outside. The views of the town from the castle were stunning. We also enjoyed the cable car ride and walking through town. Peter recommended a fantastic German restaurant for lunch. Our only critique is that none of the directions stated to meet in front of the Meridian hotel. We clicked on the address in the trip advisor app and it took us to the wrong meeting location.

Okay tour with Birds Eye view of castles and wine tasting in restaurant
I would give 3 stars rather then 1 star just because the beautiful museum line restaurant where we ate our lunch and nice cruise boat on Rhine Less said the better for customer service and reception The meeting time is 11:15 Am at W. Pl 38 . As usual we arrived 30 minutes earlier and stood at pick up point and as it was cold decided to go inside the lobby of Lemeredian which actually the address of W. Pl 38 We wanted to come out and stand on the road at around 11:10 Am, when we did there was none at the place . We panicked and called the ETS, who told curtly that that they would not pick up from hotel . We told the customer service lady that we are outside on the road and did not find anyone . We were told that how cone all others found the bus at 11:00 Am and sitting inside the bus which was parked opposite road . We told them that netting time is 11:15 Am and we expect someone to meet us . They arranged to send the guide from the bus to meet us . It was difficult to recognize as the guide was not wearing any badge or identification. We had to ask with our accent to confirm . Anyway we were able to catch the bus and continue the tour Note : you can see the castle from remote distance and highlight was the stature of Germanic Wine tasting later is inside the restaurant where we had our lunch . The guide explained well about the ice wines

A host of Castles and palaces of principalities on the Rhine River
We had a delightful day cruising the Middle Rhine and viewing a large number of castles dotting the landscape. In addition, we were treated to three huge statues dedicated to Germania (the German People and their lands), Kaiser Wilhelm I who united the various states into a German national entity, and the Lorelei Rock (dedicated to the legend and the number of seamen lost in this location. I would recommend this cruise to you.

      It’s a no from me
Immediately started off on a bad foot when the guide made comments insinuating I was dumb - not once but twice within the first 10 minutes after checking in. Most of the tour you’re crammed on a bus. Food was eh - options were pork, pork, or vegan - I ended up having to pay for my own entree as I don’t eat pork, and the vegan option was not appetizing. Mind you, when you check in, they make you decide immediately what you want for lunch. Drinks are not included, not even with the “included meal” (minus the 4 “sips” of wine you get at the end of the tour, and the wines are nothing great). I’d recommend saving your money, especially as you’re just put on the public ferry with loud teenagers for an hour and a half before returning to Frankfurt.

Good tour of the valley and castles
Great trip to some very nice sites. This late in the year the cruise was a bit chilly, but the castle a long the river were great. Lunch was also very good. The visit up to the Germania statue was a nice bonus and a great view.

      A Very Nice Daylong Experience
Our tour guide was Thomas. He is an excellent ( and very fast!!) driver and also regaled us with endless stories about the castle and the town along with his various life experiences. However, he was more interested in telling us what he wanted us to know rather than answering our questions along the way. He is very knowledgeable and we had a great tour, but we felt that he could have listened just a but more rather than talking over us.

I went to this castle about 40 years ago, it was still as a castle, now there are iron gates and auto gates to get in. You are rush thru and don't get the chance to enjoy the castle.

First off, no where does this specify the length of drive. You go about 2.5 hours to Rothensburg (get food for lunch - you get two slices of bread with a slice of cheese and water). From there its about another 3 hours to Austria. We hit a lot of traffic so we missed the planned tour and did a later one which allowed us some time in the city for dinner before a castle tour from 5:15-5:45 PM and then we had to quickly scurry down the mountain to catch the 630 PM bus ride back. We returned to Frankfurt around 1130 PM with no stops along the way. It's a very long day - I brought my airport neck roll. However, drivers were very informative Roolph happily spoke with passengers and told us history along the route. You wander Rothensburg by yourself for 45-60 minutes (not much time). By the castle they give instructions and offered if you wanted to hike mountain to the caste (40 min walk) that you could walk up with driver or take a horse carriage or bus. We opted for the bus up and walked back down. The castle was gorgeous outside, but there was a lot of preservation work going on so a lot of scaffolding and drapes covered materials. I had not realized before going that the castle was never completed before King Ludwig's death so it's not a very extensive tour.

I was a bit disappointed with this tour as I was picked up 1/2 hour late and we didn't leave Frankfurt until around 9:00-9:15 a.m. There were 5 of us on the tour and we traveled by van. Our driver Millian was nice but was not a tour guide. (He has never even set foot in the castle) He gave us no narrative and when we arrived in Rothenburg, he did tell us a little bit what to see and where the restrooms were. We had approximately 45 minutes to explore Rothenburg - hardly enough time to see much of anything. The drive into the Fussen area was gorgeous and Millian took a scenic route to get to the castle. Our tour of the castle didn't start until 4:30, so we had to hang around a while waiting for our tour to begin. It appeared the driver called for the tour tickets when we were en route to the area, hence the late tour. The castle area is gorgeous bordering on the German/Austrian Alps so the scenery was spectacular. The interior of the castle was impressive but disappointing because much was undergoing restoration or cleaning, so furniture was under cloths and many of the pieces were moved to one side of the room. This probably is due to the time of year (Oct. 15th) that I visited. In addition, Mary's Bridge was also closed for renovation. Basically your fee goes to driving you to Rothenberg and the castle and gives you the entry ticket to the castle. There is no "tour" of Rothenberg and there isn't a guide - you basically are on your own. The castle area is worth seeing so if you don't care to drive yourself from Frankfurt, this is a way to get there.

The castle is very nice and is worth visiting. However, the vehicle that brought us there was small (may be not enough people joined) and was not comfortable. The tour guide is more like a driver plus a bit of information giving.

DO NOT BOOK THIS!!! it is almost impossible physically to do this tour. there just isn't enough time in the day. You'll get to the Castle late and by the time you get to Rothenburg it will be night time and everything will be closed. I booked through Viator and they will not compensate us for only getting half of the tour. So basically i paid over $1k for 3 of us to sit in completely uncomfortable van without even a radio for over 10 hour of driving to do just one location - the castle. This tour package is awful and if you need to see these two sites, find another way.

This trip was my FAVORITE day on our trip. The Neuschwanstein Castle is so beautiful, and we got lucky with a Sunny gorgeous day. It was well worth the long drive! Rothenburg was really cool to see and our driver, Jack, was very informative and knew a lot of history about the town. I like how he was telling stories along the way and point out things about the area we were driving in. I am also pregnant, and our driver always checked up on me personally to make sure I was comfortable and if I needed to stop along the way. Such a great company! I learned more about Germany on this trip than I did just walking the streets. Highly recommended. They also encourage questions! It helps the time go by on the long drive.

It was worth every penny. The transportation was very comfortable, the driver was knowledgeable and friendly. The only downside was since it was so far we didn’t have a lot of time in Rothenburg.
