Royal Castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Day Tour from Munich
From USD 62.38
Overview

Bavaria is famous for its fairy-tale castles, built by King Ludwig II, the “Mad King,” and this tour from Munich visits two of the most beautiful. Enjoy a stop and optional tour of Linderhof Castle; marvel at Neuschwanstein Castle, known as the “Sleeping Beauty” castle with a stop and optional tour; wander Hohenschwangau village; and admire the bold murals and medieval houses of Oberammergau.

What to Expect

Make your way to central Munich to meet your guide and group. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned coach, set out through the Bavarian countryside to Linderhof Castle.

Enjoy around an hour to admire the magnificent French Rococo style façade. If you wish, join a guided tour (optional) and discover the opulent interiors.

Continue to Oberammergau, a medieval village on Bavaria’s Romantic Road. Take photos of the village’s murals, half-timbered buildings, and colorful houses, or browse the souvenir shops for handicrafts.

Finally, visit Neuschwanstein Castle, stopping to enjoy views of the neo-Romanesque style castle, which inspired Disney Sleeping Beauty. You will be dropped at Hohenschwangau village at the bottom of Neuschwanstein mountain. Spend up to four hours of free time to join a guided castle tour (optional), walk to viewpoints, or have lunch.

Castle entrance fees are not included in the tour price.

Your tour ends at your Munich departure point.

A Good Tour

A worthwhile tour with a 20 minutes guided tour for Linderhof and 30 minutes guided tour for Neuschwanstein. In between there is a 30 minutes stopover at Oberammergau, a traditional small town well known for its wood carving history.

Premium Tour Was Worth Every Penny

We splurged and purchased the premium tour. Even though it was raining and windy, we had a splendid time. Our tour guide Monika was a well-versed source of information on the castles. In spite of the fact that tickets for the castles are time-based, we...More

This is definitely worth the visit. Even the long walk up the hill. I would suggest you get their in time to catch the bus or even the horse & carriage. If your doing a bus tour go straight to the top and get something...More

Took a break from the Christmas markets to take this day tour. What a splendid day out it was too. The castles are outstanding to see and the tour guide on the bus was exceptional. Not for those who prefer a relaxed day, as this...More

Great tours

Took day tour. Educational and beautiful locations. King Ludvig was not crazy , built Neuschwanstein with own money not tax dollars. Was killed for wanting to keep Bavaria independant of militarist Germany. He was a dreamer killed by politicians.

Yes it's guaranteed but it's a separate fee which the tour guide collected. There's also a pre-set time guided tour inside the castle. Note that one is not allowed to take fotos inside.
