About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GmarcM0 contributionsExtraordinary experienceOur Tour guide Jacqueline was amazing. Very knowledgeable and guided us well throughout the trip. Very please to have her abroad on both our tours,Written 6 February 2025
- rubenjE7799WP0 contributionsHaina and Smiley great service. The tour was great Haina and Smiley were great on particular Haina who was very helpful. The only problem is that the tour ad does not give you approximate times of arrival to the castles being Linderhof and Neuschwanstein, I had previously purchased admission tickets to both castles and it was quiet an adventure to change times but thankfully it was resolve and all good at the end. It would help if the operator gives estimate times of arrival to the castles that way if you buy tickets in advance you don’t go through the same problem I did or buy the tickets on the bus.Written 1 February 2025
- Jonahcardiff0 contributionsWonderful dayout, another ticked off the listExcellent full day out, timing and arrangements worked like clockwork; Romantic Road scenic, Rothenburg amazing and castle tour interesting; probably could have done with a bit more dialogue en route, still had a great dayWritten 31 January 2025
- JohnRWebb0 contributionsDay Trip by Coach to Castle and RothenburgEarly start to get on the coach for this trip and after arriving first when allowed to board coach others were asked by guide to board before us. The journey to castle was good and not too long. The guide taking us around the castle rushed us from area to area to keep in front of group 2 following us. Not given enough time to enjoy each area fully for price of 10 euros charged. Rothenburg arrived next and our coach guide took us all to show us things to do to see and where to have lunch at. We had lunch there and found our food to be both very tasty plentiful and not expensive for what we ordered. Rothenburg we found very pretty and we very much liked the Christmas museum and shop, along with our walk around the city walls taking many photos. Returning was a 3 hour journey back to Munich before we left the coach. Enjoyable day apart from castle rush which lost it one star we felt John & Sue Norfolk UKWritten 22 January 2025

- ddev540 contributionsTake this tour with Deyse! The premium tour to Neuschwannstein was better than we had hoped! We did this with our adult children and 6 year old grandson. Our tour guide, Deyse, was great! She gave us SO much information, prepared us well for our independent time and made this tour much better than if we had done it all on our own. The driver did a great job making sure we always had refreshments and, of course, got us to and from Neuschwannstein safely. We have done many tours and this was one of the nicest, most comfortable tour busses we have been on and having the refreshment bar was an added perk!Written 1 January 2025

I have mixed reviews about this tour, as I felt like we had two completely separate experiences. We first stopped in Salzburg, where we were let off the bus right across the street from the Old Town. Our tour guide said we could follow her, but my husband isn't able to walk very fast, so we lost her as soon as we got over the bridge. We had a map, and the Old Town isn't very big, so we didn't have any trouble finding our way. But we only had three hours to spend in the Town, and by the time we had a chance to get our bearings and get some coffee, we only had two hours. I wanted to go up to the fortress, but we simply didn't have enough time. To be fair, this is my biggest complaint about all tours, since I prefer to be on my own time. We were able to see the outside of some of the sites, but had to allow enough time to walk back to the bus. We got back to the bus about 10 minutes early, but ended up waiting 20 minutes after departure time for two women who never showed up.
The second part of our tour was through the Lake District of Austria, and it was a completely different experience. The area is breathtaking and they even stopped the bus at one spot so we could take pictures. The bus continued to a beautiful little town on the shores of Lake Wolfgang where we got on a small boat for the lake tour. Note: the cost of the boat ride is not included in the tour, and you must pay for it before you get there. And take euros, because they might not accept credit cards. The mountains and scenery were spectacular and the boat ride was the highlight of the entire tour.
My advice for people thinking about this tour would be that if you are interested in seeing the highlights of Salzburg, you should take the Sound of Music tour. If you are interested in beautiful scenery in Austria, this is the tour for you.

Salzburg, a small big city (laughs).
Salzburg is a very beautiful, clean and organized city. It has only 157,000 inhabitants, however, it can concentrate immense points of interest, from medieval fortresses, churches and streets to iconic places of historical films such as Music in the Heart and the acclaimed Mozart.
For Mozart the house called Mozart Birthday's Place is the one worth it, unlike Mozart's Residence.
The cemetery where the catacombs are also located is very beautiful as well as you can have very good views of the city!
The tour from Munich was well done, the guide Elisabeth was very friendly and humorous, explained very well the points of interest of the city, put a good soundtrack and gave very good recommendations.
It is necessary to optimize the weather very well and choose 3 attractions to visit as there is no time for more! To emphasize that they can not wait for delays in Salzburg as the city has very restricted rules for tourism and parking!
You should taste the Mozart chocolates (they are more expensive and delicious) as well as the local cake that you buy at a hotel near the bus stop, the Sacher.

As I began searching day trip options from Munich, I read many reviews that said the most-loved day trips are to Salzburg.
After reviewing a few tour options, I was torn between this one and another one that was more highly rated on Trip Advisor that travels by train (avoiding traffic).
Ultimately I chose this one because it included the Lake District, and wow! I’m so glad. The lake views and boat ride were absolutely stunning.
Our tour guide, Monica was very informative and shared her unique perspective as a native German. She shared lots of history as well as good photo ops. She also handled a minor dispute with an unprepared guest very professionally.
Our bus driver, Boris was excellent as well. I do believe we got lucky with very little traffic.
Tips: it was unusually hot for early June, but i found some respite in the shade. I recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and extra water bottles to keep on the bus throughout the day.
Another thought: While I would have loved more time in Salzburg, I also would have loved more in the Lake District. Alas, there’s only so much you can squeeze into one day! Now I know where I want to spend more time if I get the opportunity to visit Austria again.
Highly recommend. A highlight of my trip.

Definitely skip this Grayline Salzburg day tour if you’re visiting in winter as none of the itinerary description was covered. The guide Alberto only gave us instructions on when and where he is picking us up and gave no information of any sights in Salzburg. Unless you find it worth paying 2x the amount of a train ticket on a really comfortable coach ride, you’re really better off with time and dollar value doing this trip on your own with google maps for real directions.

Absolutely the worst bus trip I have ever been on. So poorly organised, lots of wasted time with the tour guide fluffing around trying g to get a handle on things. She arrived just before start time, we left late and the maths of it all, who was doing what seemed beyond her. She gave no information on the trip or location only logistical stuff. The tour itself is badly organised and misleading. If you don’t to the extra option of the boat ride, you are advised to get a train back from Salzburg. The few people who didn’t want to go the boat trip had to insist on staying with the group and on the bus to get back to Munich, so strange. People starting asking if she did other tours, saying that if she was on their next tour they would cancel. Again the bus used by this company is very cramped and stuffy, and despite request to better air flow, no change was had.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent bus trip with us. We sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had, and we appreciate your detailed comments, which help us to improve our services.
We are very sorry to hear that the organization of the tour was inadequate and that your tour guide did not provide the level of service you expected. Arriving late and providing insufficient information about the trip and location are not acceptable, and we will address these issues with the guide in question to ensure better performance in the future.
The confusion regarding the boat ride option and the return arrangements from Salzburg is concerning. We strive to offer clear and consistent information to our guests, and it is clear that we fell short in this instance. We will review and revise our communication and logistics to ensure that all guests understand their options and that no one feels misled or inconvenienced.
Additionally, we apologize for the cramped and stuffy conditions on the bus. Passenger comfort is a top priority, and it is disappointing to hear that your requests for better air flow were not addressed. We will investigate this matter and take steps to ensure that our buses are more comfortable for future trips.
We regret that this experience has left you with a negative impression of our services. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will use it to make necessary improvements. We hope you will consider giving us another chance to provide you with a better-organized and more enjoyable tour in the future.

Our tour guide (Danielle) was brilliant, and very friendly. It’s very much a tour in two parts - Salzburg (30 min quick walking tour, 2.5 hour explore), and Lake Wolfgang/St Wolfgang (30 min boat ride, 20 min explore of town). Everything went to schedule. Assume that you need to pay for boat tour, as nobody skips this and it would be a tad boring if you didn’t do it. It’s obviously very ‘touristy’ as you are in a group of ~50, but once you know that you can just enjoy being a tourist.

We had Ms Elisabeth as our guide and she was simply amazing! She explained everything into detail.
The tour was also amazing as we had time to see the places on our own after Ms Elisabeth gave us a brief historical information about the important buildings in the city.
Truly recommend 👌

The truth is that it impressed me very well!
The guide is very cool! (It's only English and no Spanish but it's great!
The Fort of the tour is the tour of the lake area that is in the afternoon! It's an incredible place! I would go live! Spectacular !! (I recommend the boat that is not included).
The city of Salzburg in the morning is beautiful but not very different from any other European city, it is small and you get around very quickly.
I recommend the walk!

We had a most enjoyable day on the Sound Of Music trip to Salzburg and the Lake District. The itinerary for the day worked really well - we had enough time in Salzburg to take in all main sights and get some lunch, and then on to the beautiful town of St Wolfgang before an amazing boat trip.
Huge thanks to Paul who is an excellent guide - his energy, humour, local knowledge, and attention that he gave to accommodate everyone's needs made it such a fabulous experience - thank you so much!
Must also acknowledge the coach driver who did a great job keeping the trip on schedule through out the day.
I would recommend this trip to anyone!

This is a great tour if you want a taste of Salzburg and the Lake District! Now I want to go back and spend a week in Salzburg!
Our tour guide Elisabeth was awesome, and our driver Dragan did a great job! Elisabeth gave us great commentary and history both on the drive and while in the city of Salzburg.
The drive takes about 2 1/2 hours one way; and the short guided walk was about 40 minutes, which left us with about 2 hours of free time to check out what we wanted in the old section of Salzburg.
Next we drove out to Lake Wolfgang, and what a beautiful area! We spent about 20 minutes before boarded a boat for a beautiful ride on a gorgeous day!
Make sure you heed the instructions and take your passport as we were stopped at the border and our passports were inspected (no fault of the tour company and it was handled well). Ended with a comfortable ride back to Munich!
The tour was more than we expected and we really enjoyed our trip time (although limited) in Austria!
