Overview
L'Isle sur la Sorgue, an ancient town surrounded by a moat of flowing water, dates from the 12th century when fishermen built huts on stilts above what was then a marsh. By the 18th century, canals lined with 70 giant wheels powered silk factories & paper mills, you'll see them as you walk around the town. Today L’Isle is the Venice of Provence, home to antiques villages housing over 300 dealers - a really great way to begin exploring the Vaucluse. Next Fontaine de Vaucluse where the largest natural spring in Europe wells up outside the village creates a fast flowing river running through the village dotted riverside cafés & shops. Next a drive into the Vaucluse to Gordes to discover numerous tiny villages before visiting Avignon with an impressive legacy of ecclesiastical architecture, most notably World Heritage listed Palais des Papes that includes an array of impressive renaissance frescos. In Avignon, we include a visit to the Pont d'Avignon, but not the Palais des Papes.

They should wear Superman capes because Christopher came in and saved the day, two actually. When I was in a bind about how to fill the 3 days I had reserved in Aix for the 6 of us I was so fortunate to have found Christopher. He put together a custom tour schedule that included

Response from oohprovence, Owner at Avignon & the tiny villages of the Vaucluse to L'Isle sur la Sorgue private tour
Responded 13 Jan. 2020
Hi Maria, thank you so much for your amazing review - it was our pleasure and you've made us both blush! We enjoyed the three days we spent you all and thank you so much for putting your faith in us to organise the tour schedule for you. We enjoyed our time spent with you and hope you have all left with great souvenirs of your visit to the South of France. From the beginning we wanted you all to have an immersion in Provençal life which is why we felt Aix-en-Provence, Avignon and Arles + all the villages in between would do this. For us it's much more than just delivering a tour and we are both delighted and humbled that you appreciated the service we provided - that makes it all worthwhile. Pleased too you liked the photographs and enjoyed the rest of your visit to Nice and Monaco. Look forward to welcoming you back next time! Best wishes from us both Christopher & Laurent OohProvence.
