Stole our money and won’t communicate.
Would not recommend The French Way and warn against booking with them!! We booked a Cooking Class in Nice with them, two weeks prior to our selected date. They took payment from us via PayPal, and we never heard back from them again. We tried emailing and calling the number listed on their site multiple times but they never returned communication. We were never provided instructions on where or who to meet so it was impossible to join this experience with them! Our incident has been reported and escalated with PayPal and they are still dark on communication. We are now looking forward to getting this resolved and the return of the money they stole from us.

An Awesome Way To Start Your Visit In Nice!
We’ve done food tours all over the world and this is a great one! Marion is a lovely and charming host, fluent in English and very knowledgeable with the local history and food. She took us to several small artisan shops that we likely would not have found on our own like a 5th generation chocolatier and a small cheese maker. The pace was good yet not rushed, we sat down for coffee, tea and several tastings from the local farmers market which included fresh fruit. You will be full by the end of this tour so eat a light breakfast!

    Eat, Eat, Walk and Eat!
Glorious day for a food tasting walking tour of the old city of Nice. Marion was a terrific guide, explaining the food history of Nice as we sampled extensively. We started with sweets at Auer, then onto the market where we viewed a striking array of flowers, fresh fruit, vegetables and baked goods. Fresh berries tasted so much better when consumed on the tour! Tasted traditional Nice tarts made with onion and anchovy paste, sweet chard pies and socco - traditional working man's breakfast. Visited an amazingly stocked wine merchant - Caves Caprioglio - to purchase our rose to drink with socco at Chez Theresa. Walked the tiny back laneways with Marion telling us stories of the merchants and restaurants and ended up with lunch at a local Providore. Fun morning and I would highly recommend!

Fun and interesting way to spend the morning
We were also part of the group of 11 taking the tour last Saturday morning. It was great fun with a lovely bunch of people. We enjoyed tasting the local cuisine and listening to our guide Marion. All recommendations for visits to restaurants and bars were taken up. There were no disappointments. Thanks Marion.

    Great Introduction to Nice
Spent our first morning in Nice with Marion and a great introduction to the food of Nice along with a history lesson. What a great way to start our visit in Nice. Marion is an excellent guide with a great knowledge of the area and the food that is local to Nice. We visited the market and tasted local cheese, vegetables and cheese stopping along the way for a history lesson which helped to put everything in perspective. We took a break stopping at Les Pochettes for a coffee and a few of the sweets she bought from the market and savory dishes from the bistro. Next up was a stop at one of the baroque cathedrals and on to an olive oil tasting finished off with wine and more of the market purchases. Marion was very helpful with local knowledge on the taxi system as well as some of the sites to see. This was the perfect way to start our visit.

    Amazing Gourmet Walking Tour
We can’t thank Marion enough for her enthusiasm and incredible knowledge of local food and history on her Nice Gourmet Walking Tour. We had such an adventure visiting the local bakery, traditional sweets store, wine store, cheese store, artisanal oil store, flower markets and sooo much more!! This tour is great for opening up your eyes to food heritage and introducing foods you may never have known or considered trying before. We were so full afterwards just as Marion had promised!!

    The French Way with Marion
We just loved this tour and out guide Marion was perfect! She was so lovely and so French we had a great time! We explored old Nice, tasted violets, breads, pastries, olives and sun dried tomatoes at the daily open air market. We explored a patisserie that offered a wonderful onion tart that was scrumptious! We ended at a beautiful olive oil shop and sampled many tasty treats including truffle oil and pistachio cream. If you would like to see the city, learn some history and sample flavors native to the region I highly suggest this tour and without a doubt tour with Marion.

Provence food tour with Marion - Amazing
I took the Provence specialties food tour with Marion. This was an excellent tour and I totally recommend it to other travellers. The reviews were right! DO this tour! It was the perfect combination of a walking tour, learning about the history and culture of Nice and the Provence region, and a real foodies heaven. We tried over 20 different foods, and in generous sizes too (I was full at the end of the tour - you don’t need to eat breakfast before, although with the array of French pastries available in Nice it is very difficult to wait!!) We tried Octopus salad, morning bread and local cakes, sweets and candies, coffee, sokka (traditional chickpea bread), truffle cheese, sundried tomato’s in Provence pesto, olive oils, candied citrus, and more. We also sampled two different Provence wines. Marion was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, passionate, friendly, and hospitable. It was so lovely to get to know a local. I wish I had had more time in Nice to try other tours with the French Way.

    The most delicious food tour
Marion walked us around the Nice market teaching us about the history of the foods available while purchasing items for our breakfast and lunch. We were able to go back to the market the next day and purchase items for our own meal based on info from the previous day. She also recommended a restaurant where we enjoyed an amazing meal. We enjoyed that it was a small group of only 12 guests. My favorite tour of our vacation.

Excellent tour with lots of places to see and very tasty food from locals
Marion is very acknowledged about the history and food of the place. The food was delicious and she picked vegetarian option for me. You have 3 stops were you get to seat and eat and there’s food samples at the market too. I’m traveling solo and I felt very welcomed by the group. The tour is a small group so you will not get stranded around. Marion is a friendly and professional guide. I highly recommend this tour if you are visiting Nice.

    Grossly Overrated
Very disappointed in overall tour. Tour guide personable and nice. Some history provided as expected. Most of tour was following tour guide, Marion, through some food places and the market and watching her purchase food bites for us. All 3 hours standing except for short visit to restaurant for tea/coffee and to eat some of what Marion had purchased in market. "Picnic" at castle hill was standing watching Marion prepare small bites of food. She admitted forgetting: plates, wine, cleaning the tomatoes, purchasing a vegetarian option for us, and mentioning she should have purchased another bottle of wine...although she did tell us we could eat more cheese because of what she forgot to purchase. Paid way too much for so little food....first food tour for us of many that ended with us hungry. Would have saved a lot of money and time if we had just purchased what we wanted in the market or at a restaurant...and read a little about the history of Nice.

A fascinating tour of the food and history of Nice.
A versatile menu of Nice delicacies and excellent wine selections.
Even as someone who has been to Nice many times, I got a lot of new experiences from the tour. For first-timers, the tour offers the food world of Nice on a tray better than any other.
Marion is definitely a great guide who entertains and professionally hosts this easy-going food excursion through the old town of Nice.
I can highly recommend this tour to people of all ages interested in food and/or Nice, even those who don't usually care for guided tours!

This was the best ever food tour. Our guide was Marion, the owner of the tour company. She was extremely knowledgeable about Nice’s history, its local delicacies, and its wines. She was engaging, and her quick wit and great command of English made the 3+ hours so much more enjoyable. The small group size was perfect and she pulled many ‘tricks’ out of her backpack; including a red-checkered tablecloth and wine glasses for our tastings. She even conducts cooking classes and has published a cookbook she shares for free! You gotta check her out!!

I always believe the best way to get introduced to the city is through a walking food tour with a local! This tour was great - we got to taste so many different varieties of local delicacies, and tried some local beer and wine.

Our guide was knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about Nice! She was also very transparent and gave good advice about where to go in Nice to feel the most safest, and to not walk the streets in Old Town past 10pm.

What a perfect way to learn a bit of history through the foods of Nice. Our guide, Marion, made the tour informative and delicious. It’s clear she has wonderful relationships with the vendors and shop owners, because our group of 8 were welcomed on each stop. Great food to sample, along with beer and fabulous wine. We had so much fun!

Our guide Star Tours was amazing. She was so accommodating (she helped me find the group at the start) and explained everything about the experience. As a group we felt she was bringing us along on her Market Shopping as we met and spoke to all the vendors. She shared so much local knowledge that each turn on the memorable walk in the Nice city center was amazing. As a group we shared a very enjoyable ad unique French experience.

Our guide Kim provided a real in depth experience to Nice as she introduced us to the local food and wine. We visited the outdoor markets where we sampled traditional sweets, cheeses, charcuterie, and produce. Kim led us through the old part of Nice as she educated us on Niçoise history. We stopped at a wine cave where she selected a couple of bottles of wine and we enjoyed a picnic of the various nibbles she had purchased at the outdoor market, accompanied by wine of course. After a bit more walking, we wrapped up our tour at a local restaurant sampling more of Nice’s specialty dishes. It was a wonderful end to our walking tour, as we chatted with a fantastic group of fellow tourists all passionate about food, wine, and travel.

This was by far the best experience we had in Nice!
Marion shared her knowledge, passion, and zest for life in Nice with our group. She introduced us to her world in a way that made us feel like we were sitting down in her kitchen even though we were wandering the vendors and shops in the city.

My biggest challenge when I travel is that I have an intolerance to gluten and dairy, two food groups that can make food tours, especially in France, a challenge. Yet, Marion knew what was in each food item and even added a few outside of the usual list to accommodate me. And it was all delicious!

She was charming, relaxed, knowledgable, and simply a joy. I believe there were 11 of us on the tour and by the time the tour was over, we all felt like friends. This atmosphere begins and ends with the tour leader.

So thankful I found this tour. Would highly recommend it and to be honest, I will take this tour each time I visit Nice. My guess is that Marion will have found a new special gem to introduce us to.

Nothing against the tour guides or the company, they were lovely. Saskia was the most kind, friendly, guide.

BUT I had a heat stroke. Twice I fainted from the heat and walking around town mid day. We weren’t given water or a place to sit down, I departed from the group early and went home after 1.5 hours.

Tbh I did a walk around old nice myself the day before and went to all the same shops. There’s one great chocolate spot we did first, but no one wanted to buy anything because it would have melted throughout the tour.

If I did it again it would have to be much earlier like 7:30 when the market opens, before the heat strikes, and end structure the bites in reverse so you work your way to the cheese/meats, and end with dessert. Maybe it’s a cultural thing but this was a really tough day. I don’t think they’ll refund me either, and I certainly don’t think it’s worth $100 for the food alone. Perhaps the time of the guides, but still, could’ve seen all of this on your own.

Good afternoon, I am very sorry you felt so bad this morning and I wish you a very prompt recovery. It is indeed extremely hot in August… and as written in the explanation email you have to dress accordingly and plan a little bottle of water for the very beginning of the tour. We start the tour in an aircon chocolate factory and then go to the market at 10 am. The group leaves the market at 10.45 to go in a cold private room with seats and with litters of cold water served to everyone. It’s a pity you missed that part. You unfortunately also missed all the big tastings served by the rotisserie man (4 dishes), the Socca baker (2 dishes annd a cold beer) and all the tapenades by the olive oil lady. You also missed the wine tasting, the sourdough bread tasting and the olive oil master class. Maybe you would have thought the activity is worth the money by doing the entire tour and eating all the food. I hope you are going to feel better soon as I invite you for a free tour with us. Hopefully you can do it till the end and enjoy the full experience. Best regards, Marion

Guide arrived 30 mins late. When booked small group tour was promised (max 10 people) 15 people waiting for the guides arrival then an attempt to include another two people who were friends of some participants making 17 in total. Murmurings led to an uncomfortable situation where we proceeded on tour in a posse of 15. Due to the size of the group strung out it became impossible to hear what the guide was saying. Lots of standing around followed watching our guide chat to stall holders purchase the offerings do the maths of how few cakes to buy to divide in to 15 pieces. Highlights to expect - both olives, 2 varieties of strawberries. The tour highlight was chatting to the other participants. Top tip go to the market and buy you own.

My wife and I booked the tour to see and taste old town Nice. We met Marion our wonderful guide at the fountain along with 7 other couples. The tour was to start at 9:30. Two of the attendees were not at the statue on time and Marion worked to contact them and make sure they could locate the start point. In all my tours I have not seen a guide as patient as Marion. We started off after waiting 15 minutes for the stragglers into the old town area of Nice.

Marion is full of the local history and types of food in the region. Every stop along the way was educational with a small taste of Nice cuisine. The final stop was a wine tasting and cheese and local hot treats.

If you are in Nice I highly recommend spending a half day with Marion. This tour is under priced for the value and service provided.
