About the operator

- P3204HOnancys0 contributionsFantastic D-Day tours with Antoine of OverlordTourWe had a fantastic 2-day private tour with Antoine of OverlordTour.com in early November 2024. I highly recommend OverlordTour and Antoine. We asked for modifications of their regular excellent tours: Omaha/Utah was first full day with a personal guided tour of the excellent Airborne Museum and the 101st Airborne was our second full day. Antoine is a former teacher and superb story-teller. He started tour by giving us a foundational understanding of WWII and why U.S. citizens and businesses were initially reluctant to get involved until Pearl Harbor. He laid out for us the invasion plans and as we reached each tour site, he explained how things didn’t go to plan and what challenges needed to be overcome. He told us stories about Lt Dick Winters of Easy Company, the gliders and death of Brigadier General Donald Pratt, the two American combat medics who made a make-shift hospital in a small medieval church and encountered Germans, and many other brave men. We criss-crossed narrow roads and visited sites unique to OverordTour that other tours couldn’t access - such as Brecourt Manor and entering Marmion’s Farm. He coordinated the timing so we would arrive at the American Cemetery of Colleville in time for taps - a very moving experience. Antoine was responsive to our questions and very knowledgeable. As a private tour, we were picked up in a comfortable van at 8:30 in front of our lodgings and returned there after 6. If you go during the regular season, you could do their regularly scheduled public tours.Written 25 November 2024
- Venture988720 contributionsHighly recommend Overlord Tour (ask for Theo!)Our tour guide, Theo, was fantastic! He picked us up in a very nice van and was right on time. He had a speaker connected to his microphone in the van, which made it much easier for us to hear him while in transit. His English was perfect. He knew the area extremely well as he was a local; his great-grandmother lived on a farm that was "visited" by American troops on D Day. Theo was equipped with everything we needed to fully understand the story, including maps, charts, news clippings and photos. We spent seven hours together and he maintained the same level of enthusiasm and professionalism all day. An amazing experience that we will never forget.Written 24 November 2024
- emzel20160 contributionsWe Highly Recommend Overlord ToursWe booked a private tour of Omaha and Utah beaches. There was 6 of us in our group. Our tour guide Antoine was outstanding. He gave us a complete history of the landings there. He really knows his history. I highly recommend Antoine. We ended the day in awe of the experience. Do not hesitate booking this tour. I can't wait to go back and do it again.Written 23 November 2024
- shawnmH4019DC0 contributionsTwo exceptional days of touring with Antoine.Four of us visited Normandy and had Antoine as our guide for the two days. Antoine grew up in the area and his two grandfathers and their families were quite involved and affected by the war. Antoine was personable, knowledgeable, opinionated, professional and flexible. He tailored the sites, stories and lunches to our desires. The first day we toured the major sites of Omaha beach, Utah beach, Pointe du Hoc and the American cemetery. Antoine did a super job of describing the battles and strategies on both sides while showing pictures and maps. Also, at our request on day 1 we toured the Airborne museum in St Mere Église. After seeing the museum, we would advise anyone to consider it a “must see” to start the day. One highlight was that Antoine had us to the cemetery by 4pm to see the flags lowered to the playing of Taps. It was incredibly moving. Most visitors are unaware this happens so schedule to see it!! The second day we did the 101st airborne tour. It was a fascinating day as Antoine took us around the Normandy countryside to various sites and described the actions, while focusing on individuals and groups. In summary, the two days of touring with Antoine were fantastic, life highlights for all of us and at a very reasonable price.Written 23 November 2024
- Joe M0 contributionsTerrific Tours - Great valueThierry, our guide, was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to give us a wonderful, educational tour experience. He was patient, explaining every aspect of the Overlord invasion. He also accompanied us to Le Mont St. Michele on the second day, and his briefing was both entertaining and complete. The van was clean, comfortable and roomy. Overall our two days with Overlord were spectacular and a terrific value.Written 17 November 2024
- 202kp0 contributionsBest Tour of Omaha Beach and surrounding areaMy partner has long wanted to see the Normandy Beaches and hear stories about the Allies and WWII. Today we finally did a full day private tour with Overlord Tours Antoine was our tour guide. He was the most amazing guide we could have had. He picked us up at our hotel at 8:30am in a very clean van. We started with a visit to St. Mere Eglise and the museum commemorating the paratroopers. He led us through the museum then around the town, culminating with a yummy lunch at Creperie Cauquigny (be sure to try the cider... the dry one not the sweet one... it's amazing). Then off to a tour around the area where he pulled over several times to tell us about the importance of that particular spot. We saw where "E" company engaged with enemy forces, where Bob and Kenneth turned a church into a medical triage station, and much more. Antoine then took us to Omaha beach. We visited the Normandy American Cemetery just in time for the lowering of the flags and the playing of Taps. So moving and such an honor to spend time with those who made the liberation possible. The cemetery is on the hill right above the beach and the view was breathtaking. We then went back down to the beach. Antoine is so knowledgable. While standing on the beach for at least an hour, he told us stories about the D-Day landing. It really made us feel that we were watching it unfold in real time. Finally, we headed to one last stop, the bunkers in Longues-sur-Mer. The sun was setting so we didn't have much daylight left, but Antoine made sure we saw them and shared their history with us too. We were able to walk into the bunker and see an actual machine gun used by the Germans to try to keep the Allies away. Antoine asked us at the beginning of the day about our familiarity with the history of the liberation of France and D-Day. Of course we have seen the popular movies (Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, The Longest Day, Patton), so at each stop, he referred back to specific scenes and characters from these movies, making the connection with what we were seeing in 'real life' (and making sure we knew where Hollywood took liberties). All in all it was just the kind of tour we had hoped to have. If you want to visit Normandy, and you want the best tour of the area through the eyes of D-Day and the Allies, you must ask for Antoine at Overlord Tours. So worth it. - terryh8230 contributionsExcellent Tour from Start to Finish!Excellent from start to finish! We took the train from Paris in the early morning and were met by our guide at the train station. He provide commentary and context throughout the morning and afternoon as we visited the cemeteries, beaches, museums, and other sites. Our guide was well informed and kept us interested in the tour as we moved from location to location. He returned us to the train station with time to use the facilities at a nearby restaurant and purchase a snack for the ride back to Paris!Written 15 November 2024
- liles50 contributionsGreat tour and tour guideMy wife and I truly enjoyed our tour of the Normandy beaches with our guide Antoine My father in law was a part of the day 2 fighting at Normandy and had always wanted to return but never made it. So this was a special trip to my wife and it was a great experience. Antoine did a great job of explaining what happened and showing us different parts of the beaches. Antoine also made sure we made it to the cemetery to hear the playing of taps and see the ceremony of the flags being retired at the end of the day. He was also good enough to drop us off at the train station in time to catch our evening train. Highly recommend.Written 7 November 2024
- GM8580 contributionsTour #1 Omaha BeachWe did a half day Omaha Beach tour. Our guide Stephen was very informative and he painted a clear picture of what it must have been like for the soliders at that time. We are grateful for our visit which was a very moving and unforgettable experience. Definitely recommend Overlord Tours.Written 6 November 2024
- elis7270 contributionsAn excellent tour, one we won’t ever forget. It touched us deeply! Our tour with Remi of Overlord Tours to Normandy and Omaha Beach was one of the most compelling we have ever experienced. Not only is Remi a very well-informed and personable guide but more than that, he had a passion regarding the information and history he presented to us. We also visited the American cemetery, Bayeux and Honfleur Sainte Mere Eglise on our tour. All the other components of the tour were great with convenient stops, a clean, modern, well-appointed van, plenty of time to enjoy the stops - everything one could ask for in a tour. Do not hesitate to book with Overlord tours.Written 4 November 2024
- Clprn0 contributionsOutstanding tour of the Normandy Region and D-Day experience! We took the 2 day “Bradley’s Tour” with Ben as our guide. Both days were absolutely outstanding! We learned all about the history of this region, received detailed information about D-Day, saw a well balanced variety of places and museums, and were truly impressed by our guide’s knowledge of this region. The tour was very thorough and Ben was a delightful guide. We loved this experience, and it exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend this company!Written 4 November 2024
- debraeT8629LK0 contributionsThe best D-Day Tour!We went on the full day Band of Brothers with Overlord Tours in early October 2024. It was by far the best guided tour we have ever taken! Our guide, Valentine, was a young full-of-energy young man who was not only very knowledgeable about all things D-Day, the area toured, and the history, but was clearly passionate about the subject. The tour started in Bayeux and took us to Omaha Beach, one of the memorials, Point-du-Hoc, the church in Angoville-au-Plain (amazing story!), St Mere Eglise, and other inland points of interest. It was an eight plus hour day. We came away with so much knowledge and understanding of D-Day and the events that followed. Worth every minute and penny spent. Out of a 16 day trip, this was one of our favorites!Written 4 November 2024
- omullens0 contributionsFull Day Normandy TourThe key to these tours is the guide and somehow Overlord has found the good ones, Valentin especially. He was knowledgeable as well as personal. He answered any and all questions and took time to show us the smaller points. The drive from Bayeaux is short but the day is long but very much worth the full day experience. Online scheduling and payment were extremely easy.Written 4 November 2024
- 83jond0 contributionsGreat tourThis 10 hour tour was outstanding. Oliver, our guide, was exceptional. His knowledge of the American beaches was excellent and his delivery and personality made the tour easy and most interesting. The 10 hours passed too quickly as Oliver's facts and interesting tidbits made the day go by fast as he really held our interest. All the stops were great and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.Written 2 November 2024

Fantastic experience, Charles was absolutely great, incredibly knowledgeable, interesting, entertaining, really brought the whole area to life in an amazing way. Perfect approach, guided tour with the night amount of time to walk around privately and reflect on the significance of the area. Can’t recommend this company highly enough. Well done and thanks, won’t ever forgot it.

Having traveled throughout Europe multiple times with various tour guides, I can confidently say that the individuals at Overlord Tours were the best I have ever had. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and inspiring as they navigated us throughout the D-Day landing points. The stories they told were riveting, and as two WWII "buffs" we even learned stories we had not heard before about the landings! I could not recommend this tour enough! After the tour our guide even gave us recommendations for lunch, and museums to visit to compliment our trip! With over 150 museums in the area and an endless list of tour options - Overlord Tours is all you need to gasp the incredible story of D-Day in the presence of history.

Our guide Arno was very informative and helpful through the entire process. His explanations were accompanied by a series of documentary photos, maps and historical details that allowed us to go through the events as if in real time. All spots starting from Omaha to Coleville and Pointe du Hoc were filled with memory and very touching to visit. Most members shed tears at some point o the visit. Would highly recommend Overlord for anyone wanting a small group setting and personalized experience! In addition, while in transit, Arno provided many historical and anecdotal details about the region all the way back to the Vikings and his sense of humour balanced the heavy past we were witnesseng. Unforgettable experience!

This an excellent, well-organized tour. Our guide Fred was excellent and did a wonderful job answering all of our questions. We had two children with us and Fred was really great as listening to them and making the experience meaningful to them. The tour was highly informative and really allowed us to understand the beach and events with more clarity.

Our full-day tour to Normandy-Omaha Beach, the American cemetery, Bayeux and Honfleur was amazing. Remi was our Overlord tour guide who met us at our cruise ship and we loaded into the clean modern 8 person van for a well executed, informative tour. Remi’s knowledge and more than that, his passion for the subject was evident. He gave us a detailed presentation on Omaha Beach of the happenings when the allied forces arrived in Normandy to free Europe from Nazi control. The visits to Bayeux and Honfleur helped offset the gravity of the morning at Omaha Beach. Do not hesitate to take this Overlord tour. It was a day we won’t forget.

Our tour with Remy at Overlord Tours was the key highlight of our trip to Normandie this summer. We debated a full day tour, but with our 12 and 15 year old sons (who enjoy traveling and learning history) we thought a full day might be too much. The half day is a pretty long half-day, and was excellent. We did not feel like we missed out on learning or experiencing the setting. We learned all of the important facts and timelines with many stories and individual accounts mentioned. It was incredible to see the precise landmarks. The landscape is just beautiful and exactly as I would have imagined it. It is pristine and it's very special how the history has been preserved. To see the actual divots in the ground from carpet bombing! This tour includes a visit to the US cemetary, which was beautfiul and moving.
There was good communication, we traveled in a comfortable van in a small group, and Remy was punctual and responsive. Don't hesitate to book a tour with Overlord if you are going to Normandie!
And while you're at it, pick a restaurant and book dinner because you will need it!

Highly recommend this tour. Great value and quality. Theo was our guide, and he had incredible in-depth knowledge of the landing sights and events of the time. He had the perfect pacing and tone and offered a highly personal perspective being from the area. These tour guides must pass strenuous qualifications to be able to provide tours to UNESCO heritage sights.
The transportation was smooth and safe and the small group size was perfect. The sights we visited were perfect for the time we had and the town of Bayeux is a beautiful place to stay the night. After a lot of research I’m glad we chose this company. Book early as spots do fill-up!

Pierre was a great tour guide and driver. His English was perfect and even converted everything to imperial units. We loved the tour and starting early in the morning we missed most of the crowds. Although none of us had relatives who participated in the D-day landings we did have some that served during WW II. We were all strongly impacted by what we saw and what Pierre explained to us. We highly recommend this company and tour. Favorite!

My partner and I had a fantastic experience with Guillaume as our guide. We were lucky to be the only participants that morning, which allowed us to get to know Guillaume even better. He presented the history of D-Day in a very interesting and engaging way. We only had the chance to join a four-hour tour, but it was more than enough to gain a profound insight into what happened here over 80 years ago. Highly recommended for everyone, both young and old.

We toured in early April with friends and were totally impressed with Charles - our guide. He has an amazing amount of knowledge of the area, the events of June 1944, and the results that came later. We had toured the areas ten years earlier and learned far more this year. Thank you Overlord - for having such impressive guides who clearly care about the stories they share.
