- X1041UQcarolinee0 contributionsOrganized & Theatrical StorytellingPhenomenal tour, the guide Isabelle was very animated & a wonderful story teller of the history, would book her again! Our tour was around 90 minutes and she gave us time to photograph important details and she even pointed out details such as mythological symbolism which added to the story of the events that took place at Versailles. The tour ended before the coronation room and then we went on to have afternoon tea at the restaurant and had excellent pastries & service.Written 2 January 2025

- CH D0 contributionsStunning Palace, Disappointing Tour GuideI recently joined a Marseille classic walking tour that included a visit to Versailles and its grounds. While the palace and gardens were absolutely breathtaking and lived up to their reputation, I was quite disappointed with our tour guide, Bernadette. Unfortunately, Bernadette's microphone was not consistently positioned near her mouth, making it nearly impossible to hear her over the noise in the busy rooms. This was compounded by her soft voice and strong accent, which further made understanding her difficult. Despite several reminders, the issue persisted, which was very frustrating. The palace was extremely crowded, and without clear guidance, it was easy to feel disoriented. Her flag was often not visible, and as a result, most of the group—including myself—ended up leaving the tour midway. In hindsight, I wish I had purchased a ticket to explore the palace and grounds on my own, as the guide added very little value to the experience. The beauty of Versailles speaks for itself, but the tour unfortunately fell short. Would highly recommend visiting Versailles but reconsidering a guided tour if clear communication and guidance are important to you.Written 27 December 2024
- annier7460 contributionsNo refund for a service not usedThe trip was okay but the treatment I received from Get Your Guide was appalling. I booked the trip but didn’t receive a confirmation email so thought I’d made a mistake and went through the booking forms again. When I returned from the trip to Switzerland I checked my bank account and found I’d been charged twice, same account, same names, same day, same trio, so obviously an error but still they took the money. I asked for a refund and they said because I didn’t cancel within 24 hours I couldn’t have a refund. Why would I have cancelled when I wasn’t aware I’d booked twice? I’d hardly be going up Mont Blanc twice in one day. My friend has terminal cancer and this was a very meaningful trip for her to see the mountains of Switzerland. We’re both 70 years old and I cannot afford to lose £140 for no reason. This company has kept my money and I have not used or cost them anything. I’m disgusted and appalled by their dismissive response.Written 23 December 2024

Buy on November 19 at 11:06 p.m. 4 tickets to Universal Studios for November 20th for a value of 430 dollars, I made a mistake and bought the Hollywood option but I needed the Orlando park, when I contacted the application they told me that my maximum cancellation time was at 9:00 p.m. (Three hours before my purchase time); They told me that they would not give me a refund, so I asked for a change of activity and it was not possible either, I just lost my money and that's it. We took the afternoon tour and luckily it was a small group of 7 people. It was easy to find the meeting point and the bus ride was only about 35 minutes to Versailles. The bus was well kept and clean as well. Once we got their, were greeted with our tour guide Laura who spoke English very well and was able to describe the story of the palace in a great way. Despite our group being small, there were still hundreds of people doing other tours and self tours which made the inside of the palace crammed and difficult to move around sometimes. Nonetheless, our tour guide did a great job. We had about 1.5-2h to free roam the large garden before being picked up again by the bus. Great experience and would definitely recommend when visiting.

Every part of the tour was amazing. So happy we avoided the waiting lines and booked with a pre-paid entrance. It’s the only way to do tours in Paris. You go to the designated meeting point and catch a bus straight to the castle and there is another guide waiting for you. You bypass all the people waiting in line to buy tickets - most won’t even get into the castle that day.
Our guide NILS was brilliant very informative could easily be found in the crowd and crowds there were. So many people wanting a good view.
If you don’t like crowds and being in close proximity to people in small rooms with no fresh air then i suggest you DO NOT DO this tour.
If this doesn’t matter to you then this tour is a MUST most of the paintings are copies with the originals being in the Louve but that makes no difference to actually seeing the real Marie-Antoinette’s bed chamber with original bedspread and her famous cabinet which was home to her many jewels, to see the Hall of Mirrors, the multi Chandeliers the magnificent paintings on every ceiling, the opulence of this Castle is a definite must on list of things to do while in Paris.
The Gardens and water fountains oh my goodness, the gardens go on forever. You can not see all of the gardens on the tour, the fountains are a must see, unfortunately during my trip the fountains were not turned on but you can imagine what they would look like as you can see the spouts in the water.
Highly recommend this tour

The Versailles chateau was impressive but much more crowded than we expected and it was not easy to see the rooms because of the cramped condition. The guide was informative and the headsets critical to hearing her. To her credit she encouraged us to move through the crowd. A couple problems could have been avoided: we waited in the cold much too long before and after the tour, due to waiting for the site guide (before the tour) and for no-show passengers (after, probably 30+ minutes, shame on them). The site guide also misinformed us about restrooms, saying there are none after the tour is finished. Luckily we asked a Versaille employee and were able to use the W.C. before returning to the bus. As if not busy enough, our guide cheerfully pushed one of two wheelchairs in our tour while describing the site. A good sport.

One of the guides was very rude and the venue was overbooked. At one pint I asked the guides name and she turned around her tag. Plus they spoke softly in a loud environment. The audio system was bad too Most of the time inside was like being at a mosh pit. Plus one of our group was in a wheelchair and another used a cane. This overwhelmed the guide.

The itinerary of the tour was very good and provided enough time to see the Versailles palace apartments and the gardens. The tour started from Paris by bus and ended in Paris. Versailles apartments and the gardens were magnificent. We very much enjoyed the gardens. The tour guide who picked us up from Paris was amazing (Gabriella). When we got to Versailles, they split people into two groups as they were too many people in one group. And had another guide tour waiting for us at Versailles. The tour guide we ended up with was not good and we were very extremely disappointed. Her guidance was so dry, and even when she tried to tell a joke, it was jot funny. Not sure if it was a language thing. We also felt that she did not have a passion for the culture (or at least it didn't come out this way). Maybe she was new... not sure. She explained the meanings behind the art and architecture, but it was in a very dry and boring way. The other group was next to us, and I listened to their guidance once and a while, and it was completely a different world. We also felt that our guide was disorganized. We regret not switching to Gabriella, as she was so engaging and interesting. Another important note is that Sundays are extremely busy at Versailles, so I highly recommend going there on a week day. A tour guide can make a huge difference so next time, we will insist on staying with a good tour guide.

Our tour guide was an art history major and gave an excellent tour. She tied key pieces of art to what was going on in society and history at that time. Also explained why certain pieces of art were famous due to hype/marketing vs true craftsmanship. Would definitely recommend

We enjoyed our very interesting visit to the very ornate and historic Palace of Versailles and it’s massive manicured gardens complex. Our tour bus driver skillfully navigated very busy Paris streets and bumper-to-bumper rural highways, and our French native English-speaking guide Valerie was terrific: knowledgeable, informative and delightful. This tour provided information and insight into French history and culture, and we’re glad we added it to our Paris stay.

Our bus ride and tour guide were great! Excellent tour with ample time in the gardens. It can get crowded at times in the museum and the stairs are a little difficult if you’re afraid of heights, but we had a great time.

So easy to get a nice comfortable clean bus to take you to Versaille vs public transportation. Our guide was awesome, he knew a lot about the history and artwork within the palace. Went on the afternoon tour on a Thursday and it wasn't too crowded at Versaille. 2 hours for the gardens is nice, but certainly could spend a whole day just in the gardens. Definitely recommend grabbing a garden map and hitting all the starred spots on it, we were able to see a lot of the gardens in 2 hours, it was beautiful in the late afternoon.

Palace of Versailles was beautiful. Garden access was also beautiful and I would highly recommend anyone to visit. The only issue was the headphone that the GetYourGuide company provides to each patron.
The palace is extremely busy and to communicate with each tour group, the tour leader hands out an audio receiver and a single disposable headphone. This headphone was very clearly the cheapest thing they could buy to give to each user and as a result, it was very difficult to hear what the tour guide was saying at any given time. It was loud, that wasn't the issue. The sound quality on the headphone was the issue and sometimes when the the guide would speak quickly, it was very difficult to hear what he was saying since the headphone was such low quality.
Overall, the palace and gardens are definitely worth the visit, but it was difficult hearing the tour guide with the headphones they provide to each guest.
