After comparing cost benefit of Paris Pass and the Museum Pass against my interests, I finally decided to go with the latter, 4 days I thought it was enough for me. In general, the Museum Pass allowed me easy, fast access to most of the places I visited, perhaps the Louvre access line was the most difficult one. I did not have to follow any line to purchase anything. Besides, the cost of the Pass was lower than if I had purchased the single tickets separately; I just had to purchase a ticket to access the Versalles gardens because the day of my visit they held the so called Singing Fountains Show; I easily did it through the Versalles complex site. As a reference guide, here’s what I visited in these 4 days:
Day 1
Sainté-Chapelle (1h)
Conciergerie (1h)
Pantheon (1h)
L’Organgerie (3h)
I even attended a football match at Parc des Princes afterwards.
Day 2
Versailles complex the whole day
Arc des Triumph at night
Day 3
Rodin museum (2h30 including lunch)
Louvre (as of 14h thru 21h45)
Day 4
Picasso Museum (1h30)
D’Orsay Museum (4-5 hours)
Remarks:
Cost of the 4-days Museum Pass: E$62
(Single access fee for the same attractions would cost more)
(I saved time needed to purchase tickets through Internet sites, or directly at the attractions’ entrance)
Single ticket for the Versalles’ Singing Fountains show: E$9,50
Transportation: I moved by metro and / or bus lines (train to Versailles), sometimes just walking from one attraction to another one. I did not use any taxi or so.
Starting time: Everyday for the first attraction, I got there prior to the opening hour to start the visit as soon as they opened.
I had no issue with the Museum Pass when I showed it at the entrance / gate of the museums / attractions.

We used the six day pass to our definite advantage: we calculated what covered museums we wanted to visit and how much the individual entries were and saw that we would save money: all-in-all, we visited 15 museums in nine days (nine of them were during our six days of pass).
The longer the time frame of the pass, the more it becomes worthwhile, and six days is the best.
Note that it is NOT the Paris Pass, which is a sure money loser: you’re PMP does not cover the boat or the metro.
In addition to saving money- consider that you save either/or the need to stand in an extra line to purchase tickets or you save the need to invest energy and time on websites to make on line purchases- and the websites might not be user friendly or in a language that you understand.

The 6 day museum pass now costs 74 euro ($82). It is good for 144 hours. The clock starts when you first use it. The newer changes are these. It is a bar code pass. This means they keep track of all of its uses. You can visit a museum ONLY ONE TIME on this pass. Formerly, you could return as many times as you want. To see the Louvre Museum YOU MUST BOOK A RESERVATION ONLINE if you want to use this pass. This is a new requirement, and it does not apply at other museums. A number of museums do not accept the pass (for example the Yves St Laurent Museum). Priority access is not longer assured. Finally, this pass will not admit you to many special exhibits. In my opinion, it is much less useful than it was in the past. If you go to many different museums in a short period of time, this pass may be worth it.

We didn’t use the 4 day pass for the Louvre. You need the museum pass number to book a space. We did not want to wait until we arrived in Paris to buy the pass and time slots were getting full. We decided to buy Louvre tickets on-line 2 weeks before arrival. We would have done this for Versailles too if we had gone but many people said there were long line- ups (2 to 3 hours and no shade).
We planned the use of the pass based on the weather. It was gradually getting hot (30c) so we made sure that the last 2 days of our pass would be in air conditioned places.
Used the pass for Rodin Museum, Sainte-Chapelle, Conciergerie, Napoleon’s tomb, D’Orsay, Pompidou centre, arc de triomphe, Picasso museum, pantheon and L’orangerie. Skip the pantheon and do something else on the pass. It was too hot to visit Versailles.
4 day pass paid for itself even without using it for Versailles. Kids got tired of sightseeing/museums by 3rd day. We felt compelled to visit 2 attractions per day - many close by 630 and u need to eat. Glad we didn’t buy a 6 day pass. Glad we waited for a few days after jet lag.

We were advised when purchasing the Museum pass at the airport that we would need to schedule an appointment time at the Louvre in addition to having the Museum Pass. We saw a LOT of Museum Pass holders turned away at the Louvre b/c they didn't have a scheduled entrance time.
Also, the Orsay Museum does not honor the Museum Pass for skipping the line on Tuesdays b/c the Louvre is closed Tuesday and it's their busiest day (at least this was our experience in early August).
If you visit at least 5 museums, the pass will pay for itself, but the real bonus is being able to skip ahead of the line!

The Museum Pass made it easy to visit multiple museums and eliminated the need to stand in line to buy tickets for individual museums which can take a lot of time. Buy the pass online ahead of time and pick it up at one of several locations, including the airport.

We bought the museum pass and tried to go to the Louvre on 2 days. On the second day we arrived at 9am when the museum opens and they said the museum was full and that the museum pass doesn’t assure your entrance. People who bought the entrance to the Louvre online did get in but they just ignored museum pass. We stood in line for 3 hours and could not go in.
In Versailles we also got a 2 h line. Only direct bought tickets skip the line.
Don’ t buy museum pass of you wish to go to this crowded museums! Book online!!!

The Paris museum pass (4 days) was an excellent value for us. We purchased directly from the tourist information location at the Gare du Nord for €62 when we arrived in Paris by train. It is active for 96 hours from its first use. We used it for entry at: Musée D’Orsay, Centre Pompidou, Arc de Triomphe, Picasso Museum, L’Orangerie, Versailles, Trianons and the Hamlet (at Versailles), la Sainte Chapelle, and the Louvre. In many places we were able to skip the ticket buying lines but not the security lines. If we hadn’t planned on seeing so many museums, we would have purchased the timed entry tickets for the Louvre and Versailles, since those lines were long (1 hour each) even with the museum pass.

You can get a 2, 4 or 6 consecutive day pass. Skip the line and use the pass as your ticket, not valid at the Eiffel Tower. Kids under 18 are free and can walk in with parents, A lot of museums are closed on Mondays. Some Museums Free on first Sunday of month- also very crowded. Print name and date on pass. The pass has a map with the locations of each museum as well as written information on opening times, address, phone number, nearest metro station, and a description of what’s inside the museum. The whole pamphlet folds down to the size of a credit card. Buy the museum pass at any museum, pick one that is not busy. I bought mine at the Branly museum near the Eiffel Tower. EU residents under 26 get in free, no ticket required.

The Paris Pass, like others I've used in the US, is great for skipping admission lines and for encouraging you to check out less popular places where you might otherwise not pay the price to get in. All of the major Paris attractions except for the Eiffel Tower are included and frankly, the view from the Arc de Triomphe was sufficient for us, especially when we saw the lines at the Eiffel Tower. The metro pass was also well worth the money for zipping around the metro. We expected to pay a slight surcharge to go to Versailles, but didn't have to. The Seine boat tour is great, but the website didn't make it clear that you can only board at the Eiffel Tower location, not near Notre Dame.
Keep in mind, however, that the pass doesn't allow you to bypass security lines which sometimes are shorter for passholders and sometimes they're not. Also, treat your pass like money: I somehow lost just my museum pass and it was a huge hassle to replace it. The downtown address was closed with no new address posted. The nearest museum where I could buy a pass was closed that day, the Louvre location was sold out and after I walked to the Orangerie, they only had 4-day passes when all I needed was a 2-day.
Well worth the money if you're new to Paris (our daughter) and want to hit all the highlights or coming back and want to briefly visit specific "friends" or special exhibits in the major museums then check out other places you've never been.

Hi, I arrive on a Sunday and collection is not available on a Sunday. Is there any other way for me to collect the pass?
Where can I get this museum pass after I purchase online? Do I need to show my passport to prove it is ordered by me?

With this museum pass, how do you schedule the time to visit the Louvre?
Bruce B
Ocala, FL317 contributions
You don’t schedule any particular time, you simply go when you want, as long as you are going within 4 days of first using the pass. Regarding simply using it at the Louvre, in general, my advice is to make the Louvre a priority for one of your days in Paris. Get there an hour before they open, take photos of the beautiful courtyard before the lines begin to form, and then once people start arriving, get in line. There are two separate lines, one for those with the museum pass and one for those without, that begin right in front of the glass pyramid. If you arrive early, you should be able to be one of the first people in line. Make sure you head towards the Mona Lisa first to get it out of the way because once more people arrive, the line to see it will be over an hour. My wife and I arrived early and saw the Mona Lisa within 15 minutes of the doors opening and most of that was walking to it.

With the pass, do you have to book an entry time at the museums (e.g. Louvre) or do you just show up? Will they allow you in at anytime or do you have to book in advance with the pass?

You activate it by using it. Fill in the back yourself but don’t put the date until you’re sure it’s going to be the first date you use it.

Not with the “Museum pass”. Check out the “Paris Pass” that includes a metro & regular bus pass, and I believe the one day hop on hop off bus. We bought the museum pass and then purchased a 10 pack of metro/RAR train/bus tickets at a metro station machine that worked perfectly for us and was significantly less expensive than the Paris Pass but the Paris Pass does offer more. parispass. com
