About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Swatkins580 contributionsTorrey - a gentle town with greatness all aroundTorrey is a little "International Sky" approved town in Utah situated at the main entrance of Capitol Reef National Park. A small town with a great night sky and access to enough - not too much - amazing scenery and adventure. We went to Slacker Burgers (a MUST), stayed at Red Sands (delightful and beautifully appointed), drove there via Highway Scenic Byway (a MUST) and enjoyed Capitol Reef NP - absolutely amazing!Written 12 November 2024
- P2106GVlindaf0 contributionsWonderful experienceRegis is a walking (and entertaining) history book of WW1. His van is super comfortable and it was fun to share the day with him. For anyone interested in WW1 this tour is a must!Written 4 November 2024
- K8993OQericc0 contributionsA Tremendous Tour With the Right Balance and Opportunity for DiscoveryThis was a tremendous tour of Verdun and the Meuse-Argonne battlefield of the American offensive in 1918. My wife and I were on a private tour with Regis - it began when he picked us up on time, early in the morning in Paris. We were dropped off in the evening back at our Paris hotel after a day filled with great experiences. We visited the village of Verdun and the Voie Sacree, among other sites. Regis also took us on a tour of the excellent museum at Verdun but gave us time to tour other areas of this extensive museum on our own, followed with lunch in the museum cafeteria. We moved on to the solemn Douaumont Ossuary (Memorial Cemetery) and Fort Douaumont, which were worth the trip just by themselves. Then on to the Meuse battlefield and visits to the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and the Montfaucon American Monument. We visited the town where Harry Truman and George Patton fought and then an off-the-beaten area of the Argonne Forest where Regis' great grandfather had been wounded in 1915 and where the trenches were still in very good shape from over 100 years ago. Spending time deep in the Argonne was very special for us. My wife, who was not familiar with WW1 history, enjoyed the tour as much as I did. His English is excellent and he provided bits of interesting history from other eras for the areas we toured. The countryside is spectacularly beautiful in that part of France which further enhanced the tour. One final note: Regis did not hover over us - he knew how to balance being a guide, historian, and photographer with how to point us in the right direction to explore and learn on our own. He has a good sense of humor, too. We are interested in a tour of the Somme in the future and we will definitely choose Adrian Roads if we make the trip.Written 31 October 2024
- donaldwL2927DS0 contributionsFantastic Day Visiting Meuse Argonne Battle SitesI took the Meuse Argonne VIP trip with Régis. An ancestor fought and died during the offensive and is buried in the Meuse Argonne American Cemetery. Régis is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and tailored the well-planned, full-day itinerary to meet my interests. He continued to provide valuable follow-up information after the trip. There’s no way I could have done this on my own. I highly recommend Adrien Roads for your French battlefield visit.Written 29 September 2024

- 745danp0 contributionsHuge disappointmentCharged for 2, when I spoke with agent they assured me I could book for 1 and a voucher would be emailed. No voucher, no follow-up confirmation, just a cancellation. Tour operator doesn’t answer their phone - zero stars. Don’t trust the agent. Confirm and reconfirm again; maybe you can book the tour, maybe not.Written 3 June 2024

- Norto670 contributionsAmazing, heartfelt and all round best day in Paris!!Tour: WWI Australians in the Somme battlefields 916-1918 Tour I did this tour with my mum and dad, and all the 3 of us can say is this is a must do. The tour is one of the most amazing days we have on our 7 week Europe trip. I can't remember his name (very sorry) but his passion and love of history came through at every minute of the tour. If you find yourself in Paris add this tour into your travels you will not be disappointed!!!!Written 12 May 2024

- Trooly0 contributionsAustralians in the SommeWe booked a private tour for our family of 4. Regis is a very gracious, knowledgeable and personable host. We learnt so much and felt so welcomed to learn about our shared history. We packed a lot into the day but at the same time never felt rushed. We were conveniently picked up and dropped back to our hotel in Paris in a very comfortable van. Regis is a very safe driver. He also took wonderful photo's for us to treasure. I would definitely recommend this tour company to my friends.Written 11 April 2024
- scottmI6023AI0 contributionsWWI Belleau Wood TourWe booked a private tour with Adrian Roads and our guide/owner was Regis. I read the reviews from previous customers and it was apparent that this is the right company to book with. We had to book a private tour as the group tours were booked solid during the time frame we were there. The cost of the tour was 800 Euros which may seem a little steep, but we were extremely happy with the tour and I would say it is worth it. regis is an absolute professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. He was very engaging and wanted to ensure that we were pleased with the tour. I would recommend this tour to all!Written 11 April 2024

There were two particular highlights. As an Australian, visiting the Australian War Memorial and Visitor Information centre was very moving and enlightening. The other highlight was seeing the preserved trenches at Beaumont Hamel and seeing how close the opposing soldiers were to each other and imagining the terrible carnage that took place there.
Régis was an excellent guide - very informative, organised, thorough, thoughtful and obliging. We were picked up on time and not a moment was wasted in a full day of exploration. We were delivered home safely having had an informative and thought provoking day.
