The tour was scheduled to leave at 7:30 am. I was running a little late and I contacted the tour operator several times. By the time I got to the pick up site, there were seven other people waiting who apparently "missed" the tour bus. We have no way of knowing if they ever showed up as we tried to reach out to City Wonders and the line kept hanging up and there was no way to leave a message. We all wanted to see if we could book for a later date but no one got back to me until 13 hours later saying that there would be no refund because I was late. I cannot believe a tour that I paid $175 could not offer a five minute grace period before they left (if they showed up at all, since we have no way of knowing). I'm not in the habit of giving City Wonders free money (as I'm sure the seven other people they also "left" behind). I plan to escalate to get another tour before I leave Paris in two days or a refund. Trip Advisor was no help either.

Dear jthorn, Thank you for taking the time to share your review on TripAdvisor. We are sincerely sorry that you arrived late to the meeting point and missed your tour. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate late arrivals as the bus has to leave Paris on time ( at 07:30 AM) in order to beat the traffic and exit Paris without delay. Because this tour includes various venues, hence various stops, we need to respect the schedule to provide the tour as advertised and allow the allocated time for each stop so that our clients can enjoy their activity. For this reason, we require that clients check in at the meeting point 15 minutes prior to the departure time. Kindly note that we had 29 people booking on the tour and the party of 7 that you are mentioning was part of one booking and were travelling together, they also arrived late like yourself. The rest of the group checked in on time and were able to join the tour. We could not wait for late arrivals as it would have meant penalizing the rest of the group who made it on time by rushing through the activities to catch up with the delay. We hope you understand our position. The tour you have booked is a group tour, not a private one, and for this reason, we cannot be flexible. We thank you for your understanding and wish you safe travels. Kindest Regards Chadia City Wonders.

The only good thing I can say about this tour is the two chateaus we got to see. The “tour guide” was NOT a real tour guide because she told us absolutely nothing about anything that we saw. The bus driver could have done what she did. Basically my wife and I paid $350 for a bus ride and two tickets to the castles. What a complete waste of money!!!

A lot of time on the bus and not enough time to visit the two magnificent castles. Glorious and fascinating sites, and we found on our own a star quality "home cooking" restaurant in Blois, but the guide - although enthusiastic and knowledgeable, was hard to hear and understand. Unfortunately her speedy rather haphazard presentation and lack of voice projection meant that half her words were "swallowed" and her account seemed under-prepared and was sometimes confusing. Time on the wine tasting would have been better used to extend time to visit inside the glorious castle of Diane de Poitiers and Marie de Medici. It's a long day trip from Paris and a better choice might be an overnight stay in Blois and visits in depth two the two castles.

Dear LimeyDi1, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on Trip Advisor. We are sorry to hear that the tour did not live up to your expectations. We understand that you would have appreciated more time in each castle, but our tour follow a particular schedule to assure that other highlights are also covered. Nevertheless, we are happy to pass on your review to our product department as there is always a room for improvement and customer feedback allows us to do so. Also, at City Wonders, we aim to deliver top quality services in all of our tours, and we are disappointed to hear that your experience with our guide did not live up to your expectations. We will make sure to forward your comments to our Guide Management team to make sure that the necessary actions are taken. We very much appreciate your feedback and would like to thank you again for reaching out. We wish you safe travel. Kindest Regards Chadia City Wonders.

Addie was incredible. With a large group you’re likely to get bad apples and I think that explains away a lot of the bad reviews. Really, for $150 you’re getting 7 hours of transportation and admission to some stunning castles.
