Overview
The wine regions of Saint Emilion and the Medoc produce some of Bordeaux’s finest wines and this full-day tour explores both in one day. Spend the morning visiting the UNECO-listed village of Saint Emilion and learning about the winemaking process at a Grand Cru Classé Chateau, return to Bordeaux for a delicious picnic lunch, then master the art of wine tasting as you tour the wineries of the Medoc.
What to Expect
The program:
9.00 am: Meet your guide in front of the Bordeaux tourist Office and jump into our minivan. Drive around 40 minutes to Saint-Emilion. On the way, your guide will give you loads of information about our region, our wines and our culture. He / she will be more than happy to answer all your questions!
9.45 am: Visit of the village of Saint-Emilion. Enjoy a guided tour in the little streets of the old town of Saint Emilion dating back from the 9th century and still perfectly preserved thanks to its classification on the UNESCO heritage list. The village is located at the top of a hill and offers breathtaking views on the surrounding vineyards.
10.45 am: Be warmly welcome at a beautiful Classified Growth chateau (Grand Cru Classé in French) just outside the village. Be welcomed in front of the chateau with a glass of white wine. Enjoy a little walk in the middle of the vines. Take a tour of the cellars. Have a description of the wine making process from the grape to the bottle. And most important! Enjoy a tasting of 2 wines of the property inside the castle, while we will serve an aperitif made of local and fresh delicacies: bread, cheese, charcuterie, chocolate…
12.00 pm: Time to drive back to Bordeaux and enjoy a quick pic-nic lunch and a glass of wine at the Bordovino apartment.
1.45 pm: Back on the road & drive through the mythical “Chateau Route” of the Medoc. Here you are Medoc!
2.30 pm: Arriving in a charming and authentic family-run estate (Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron, Chateau Chasse-Spleen, Chateau Siran…). Feel the intimacy and authenticity of a private chateau run by a passionate family for generations. Start the visit in the vineyards, in front of the château, tour around the traditional vat room and discover the cellar.
Tasting class – Become a wine expert in 20min!
« Intense color, woody aromas, tannic taste… » Ouch !! What does it mean? You will learn the steps of a proper tasting and will educate your nose in order to identify the wines aromas. We will give you our tips and tricks to taste like a pro!
At the end of the visit, you will enjoy some tasting of the chateau’s wines.
4.30 pm:  Visit a Great Classified Growth estate (such as Chateau Cantenac-Brown, Chateau Lagrange…). Visit the vineyards, the vat room and the cellars of one of the most prestigious chateaux of Bordeaux. Enjoy some explanations about their wine making process, from the vine to the bottle. Finish the visit by a tasting of the estate’s wines while enjoying an aperitif with French delicacies (cheese, fresh bread…).
7.15 pm: Back in Bordeaux.
