- 518katier00Wines, education and fun!Highly recommend!! Our guide was informative and engaging. We visited multiple wineries and sampled a few different wines at each. A delicious lunch was provided in our tour, as well as a tour of the town of Saint Emilion. One of the best experiences we had while in France.
- X8297ZFjulier00Fantastic full day tour of Saint-Emilion and some lovely wineries. Perfect day!“Absolutely fabulous time. Jonathan was funny and couldn’t have been more knowledgable. That’s a great combination. We appreciated the various wineries, the lovely picnic lunch, and the general mood of the tour. Highly recommended!”
- halilo27100A Wonderful Experience in WineOur experience was top notch. We booked a private tour of Saint Emilion and three surrounding Chateaus. Our tour guide Clément was exceptionally knowledgeable in wine, being a WSET level 3 certificate holder, and very professional. Our conversations in the car were as enjoyable as the chateaus. We hope to visit Bordeaux again to see Medoc, Graves and the other wine regions, hopefully earlier in the year and would definitely book with Bordeaux Wine Trails again.
- jmaj1600Private Saint Emilion TourWe did a private full-day Saint Emilion tour and after getting picked up in a comfortable van at our B&B we got to visit 3 wineries in addition to wandering around the town of Saint Emilion and having lunch in the town. Our guide Clement was knowledgable, professional and the whole day was timed perfectly, we never felt rushed. We know A LOT about wine and wanted to really dig deep about Saint Emilion/Bordeaux wines so we could better pick out ones we'd like in the US and get as much of an overview as possible in a day and we felt we were able to get just that. The team was able to accommodate us last minute (under a week) and personalize the experience for us. Our favorite was being able to visit a small husband and wife winery and sample the wines with the owner. These are amazing experiences and touches that are a perk of booking a private tour.
- sarahtait_8300Fantastic full day tour!Absolutely fantastic full day tour with our guide Mel. She was so enthusiastic and energetic throughout the day. Her knowledge of the region was outstanding and was happy to answer any questions.
- 365helenz00Wine tastingThe tour was on time and very informative. We were not lucky with the weather, due to the rain we couldn’t bike but as a compensation we visited another château. The whole tour was very professional and fun. Highly recommended for people visiting Bordeaux and would like to experience vineyards visiting and wine tasting!
- jahnab201800All around great day!We did a private full-day wine tour in St. Emilion, with lunch and tastings, as well as a city tour. It was incredible. The tour guide, Maria was so knowledgeable, friendly, flexible, and fun! Would highly recommend.
- V2841KPadame00Great day outAwesome wine bar tour in the center of town. We were a mixed group of English and French speakers and John was great at switching between the two languages to include everyone. Good fun, good food and good wines, highly recommend !
- 0carlyv00The Most Memorable Experience! We enjoyed every second of our tours with Bordeaux Wine Trails! From the start during booking to the end of our last tour, everyone was extremely helpful and responsive. We did 4 days or private tours. They offered suggestions of what to do and see during the booking process. They accommodated our gluten free needs as well. We enjoyed listening and talking to our hosts, Marie and Clement. Both were excellent hosts. An unforgettable experience! Do not hesitate to book with Bordeaux Wine Trails.
- eclo9000Fifth growth Grand Cru Classe Visit (lowest of the high tier)We visited a 5th growth Grand Cru Classe (the lowest of the 1855 designations) which was a good tasting but I wish that was made known up front. We were supposed to visit Chateau Margaux for a picture but it was skipped; this was something I was looking forward to. The second winery was completely forgettable and I wish they just took us to another 1855 winery but of higher growth to compare. Not for wine aficionados, it’s more of a tour that gives you a surface level understanding of the Medoc region. Unfortunately, not many other tours are available. I understood from later groups that if you did a private tour with Bordeaux Wine Trails, they take you to a second growth winery. This is too bad because if the wine visits are cheap anyway, the cost should be marginal for them to take us to better wineries. Basically, consider the price you pay for this the cost of an Uber ride to a so-so winery, and a bonus tasting of a random small production spot.
- Lambebe00Great day spentWe had a great day with our guide Mel. She was friendly, attentive and filled us in with all the local & wine knowledge. The picnic lunch in the garden was delicious.
- JPAW140300Great experience. Highly recommended. The instructor was great and we learned a lot about the Bordeaux wines and the different regions and were able to taste and comment on four different wines from Bordeaux.
- A8184YNmonicas00Fantastic tour of St Emilion region! We had a fantastic all day private tour, led by our guide Nate. We are a group of 5 and were picked up directly from our apartment in downtown Bordeaux. We were driven in an air conditioned van to our first winery and had a full tour of the vineyard and wine making process before beginning our tasting. After the tasting, we chose the picnic option and enjoyed a picnic with great views of the vineyard. We then headed into the town of St. Emilion for a quick tour by Nate before heading to our next stop. At our second stop, we chose the blending option and after a tour of the facilities, got to blend our own Bordeaux varieties with the different grapes that go into the standard Bordeaux mix (Merlot, Cab Sav, and Cab Franc). We all made different blends and got to taste all each of them before heading into the formal tasting. We then went to the final tasting at a very family style winery before heading back to our apartment. Nate also provided us with some recommendations for restaurants and bars in Bordeaux. Overall, the day was great. The booking process was simple and collaborative, and it was very easy to add on the blending and picnic options after our initial booking by reaching out to the Bordeaux Wine Tours team. The guides at the wineries themselves were also fantastic -- very knowledgeable and fun to talk with during our tours. Thank you Bordeaux Wine Tours -- this was our favorite day of our trip!
- pob2800800Best wine tour everWe did the wine lovers afternoon to St Emillion wine district and village . Marie was the consummate guide with a great personality and knowledge of the wine industry . Wine tasting and wineries were magnificent . A great afternoon for 7 of us in a comfortable vehicle with a beautiful guide well done !
- rosea17200Mostly awesome until the endExcellent, fun, and knowledgeable tour guide. Great wines and behind the scenes tour at first chateau in Graves. Informative wine tasting and delicious lunch at second chateau. Nice walking tour of St Emilion and relaxing stop to enjoy sparkling wine. Sadly, third wine tasting was extremely disappointing and a bad way to end the day. Wine tasting guide was unprepared, barely introduced the wine to be tasted, and was not interested in providing a good experience. Even tasting table was dirty.

Marilys was a true and absolute delight! An absolutely wonderful tour guide with a deep knowledge of the wine producing regions, vineyards, and chateaus surrounding the city of Bordeaux. Our itinerary was well planned and flawlessly executed. If you are visiting the city of Bordeaux, you owe it to yourself (and to your stomach) to let Marilys to show you around the wine regions. She is a true master of her craft—both as an expert of wine and in leading tours. Our tour was supremely enjoyable and I would highly recommend you sign up and take a tour with these fine people. I wish I could give her 10 stars, but 5 will have to suffice.

We had a great visit with Andrea who took us around St. Emilion in a very comfy van while explaining about Bordeaux the city, the St. Emilion region, and the differences among all the chateaux/appelations in the region. Very informative trip - lots of opportunity to ask questions and meet local winemakers. If you don't know much, you can learn a lot quickly; and if you do know a lot about St. Emilion, you can learn more from talking with the winemakers themselves. If you're just going for the experience, the half a day tour is the perfect length (two vineyards is more than enough).

We were collected from our AirB&B by Jon for our private tour of St Emilion. From the offset Jon was extremely personable, likeable and humble. We were travelling as a party of 6 adults and one baby, Jon was very accommodating and ensured the baby was in good spirits throughout the trip.
We set off for St Emilion and Jon gave us history of the area and wine production which was really interesting. He explained the philosophy of his company and why they visit wineries that make the experience better for the tour rather than visiting the larger vineyards that often lacks personality and you can be herded through like cattle.
Our first visit was to Chateau Haute Sarpe where we toured the vineyard and we met Mansur. He showed us the small village within the Chateau grounds and explained it is the clients that support the chateau when it comes to the harvest which is really cool touch. One lady is 81 and coming back for her 59th harvest this year!
We then went to the town of St Emilion to the Chateau’s shop for a tasting. Mansur took us through 5-6 different wines, informing us of their growth and history.
Jon then took us on a walking tour of the town and showed us some great restaurant spots and informed us of the history. He was really knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. I think it’s so important to have a passionate and well informed tour guide on these trips because they really do make or break your trip.
We then headed for the small, entirely family run Chateau Clos des Abbesses. To meet a wine maker is a rare experience in itself and for him to give up his time to conduct the tasting is quite a unique experience.
Clement was a lovely guy and was extremely generous when we were tasting! He explained how to taste, what to look out for and gave us pairing ideas. Jon had also prepared for us an aperitif which was a lovely way to end the visit.
Jon then took us back to our AirB&B but took the time on the way back to recommend some restaurants and even booked us a table that night at one of his favourite spots!
I will 100% be using this company again and recommend them to several friends already!

Visited two chateaux, Chateau Jean Jaures and Chateau Panay and the village of Sain’t Emilian, as part of a group of eight: Irish, English, Australian and American. A very convivial and friendly group, chaperoned by Jonathan, our brilliant guide. We enjoyed both chateaux very much and, though it was February and somewhat inclement, the quality of the wine and the enthusiasm of both guides ensured a very pleasant experience. Jonathon took us on a tour of Saint Emilion, a most picturesque village and centre of this wine making region. The trip lasted over five hours and was a most interesting and enjoyable experience. Thanks again to Johnathon and we would recommend this tour to any visitor who is interested in wine and experiencing chateau wine production in this lovely region.

Our guide Jonathan was very knowledgeable about the Bordeaux wine areas and the wines produced. We heard about the history and the rules about all the wines.
In St Emilio we fist visited a winery and were shown the cellar. The we went into town for a tasting. We were told about the taste and the flavors in 4 different wines.
After this tasting we walked through the town to the church on the highest point of the village.
Our last stop was a tasting at one of the smaller wineries in St Emilio. The owner/winemaker himself did a proper wine tasting of 3 wines. Showing us the different colors in the wines. Talking about the the difference in smell directly after pouring the wine and after letting the wine mix with the air.
And then tasting the flavors. We were given some chocolate, cheese and olive pate on bread.
This is a tour I would definitely advise anyone who enjoys a glass of red wine to do.

The wine tour was the highlight of our family trip to Bordeaux. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome in the office of Bordeaux Wine Trails, which made a lasting positive impression :-)
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children and we did the fabulous afternoon tour with tastings in St. Emilion. Led by Jonathan and accompanied by his colleague, Stan, the whole experience was very polished and professional, while offering a friendly, relaxed, chatty and fun afternoon out for the whole family.
We visited 2 chateaux, both independent, family-run vineyards; the perfect choice for us. Our knowledge of wine is limited, (and that's a generous description!), while Jonathan's expertise is vast, but his guidance was relevant, informative and engaging throughout. Jonathan knows how to read the room!
Our kids felt part of the experience from start to finish. We meandered the winelands in an exceptionally comfortable van and there was just the perfect amount of time spent at each location. This wine tour had something for everyone and we would suggest, if you are in the region, there is no better way to spend an afternoon :-)

Very impressed with the whole afternoon. Marie was obviously an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide for our tour and we would like to thank her very much for the guided visit. We especially enjoyed the visit to Clos Des Abbesses and returned the next day to make wine purchases. We would definitely recommend this half day tour to gain a small insight into St Emilion wine. Very good value for money.

We did the Saint-Emilion afternoon tour with Yan as our guide, and had an amazing time. Yan is so knowledge about the history of the region in general and wine in particular! We really enjoyed learning so much about the process and the quality systems for wine in this region of France, it was very informative. We visited two chateaux which were beautiful, and we enjoyed the wine tasting which was incredible, so we took the opportunity to purchase some and bring it home! It was really good to have a relaxed aperatif and to socialise with the group and Yan at the end of the tour.
St. Emilion is definitely worth seeing, despite it being a chilly January day! It's a beautiful place and we are so glad to have visited.
We would highly recommend this tour, and if we are fortunate enough to be back in Bordeaux, would definitely do some of Bordeaux Wine Trails other tours!

We will be in Paris for 3 weeks in May, so very flexible on day. Could we take a train from Paris and arrive in time for a half day tour? After the tour, would we be able to book a dinner reservation and take a return train to Paris after that?
Natalie
26 contributions
The fast trains from Paris to Bordeaux take just over 2 hours, so it's possible to leave Paris and arrive in Bordeaux in the morning in time for the afternoon tour, but I don't think you would have time to do the tour, have dinner in Bordeaux, and then be able to take a train back on the same day, as I think the last trains back leave around 9pm so it would be cutting it very fine. I'd also suggest an overnight stay in Bordeaux.
The rail company is SNCF, you can check out their website for details of train schedules.
Hi guys,
Me and my friends are looking to book this but we are a group of 9 people. Would it be possible to do this as a group of 9 as it only let's you book for 8 people on the website?
Thanks

Hello! We are 2 adults and we would like to book on July 3. Due to covid we have to take a negative pcr 48 hours before. If one of them tests positive (hopefully not), how much time in advance can I cancel to get a 100% refund? 24 hours before or before July 1?

If you booked directly with the tour company or have their contact information, I suggest contacting them directly; there may be space in the van or at the meeting place also if you need to cancel for any reason, it's easier to do if the tour was booked directly.
